If you are the type that travels a lot... No big deal reading Buhari's book at your leisure

I have read major Jokolo's book about Buhari and it's intresting

Buhari was a chain smoker and womanizer, he loved food especially wheat and travel with his food flask

Obasanjo loved pounded yam, women and farming , he works out and also like palm wine, even as a diabetic patient

Babangida loved his wife so much, he also loved his community he grew up in Minna, he drives himself back in the days

.

Agriculture / Re: I Want To Invest In Your Agricultural Business by fbabs(m): 4:09pm On Oct 28, 2023
DawsonCole:
Hello!

I am a Nigerian, passionate about Nigeria and the growth of Nigeria. I am very well aware that agriculture is an integral sector for the sustainable growth and development of any society. I have come to realise that many Nigerians do not like farming, do not like to produce, but rather want to consume. Sadly, we cannot grow this way as a country, and even more sadly, unemployed and underemployed Nigerians still do not see agriculture as an option. How bad if you ask me.

Growing up as a kid, farming was something I really enjoyed doing. I was actively involved in the cultivation of beans, corn, groundnut and potatoes. Several times, produce from the small farm in my family compound saved us from hunger. In the mornings, I will stroll to the farm at the back of the house, harvest some potatoes, go to the kitchen, wash the potatoes, peel off the back, wash it, fry it, and breakfast is served!

Right now, due to the nature of my work, I cannot directly be involved in farming, no matter how hard I try. As a result, I have thought to support (by investment) local farmers who are highly passionate about agriculture (prefereably someone with a degree in the Agricultural sciences or related field) and has some experience in agriculture. A degree in agriculture may not be needed if the person can prove that they have at least 3 years of continuous experience in agriculture.

If you are (or if you know anyone who is) highly interested in agriculture (whatever type - but prefarably cocoa, rubber, palm oil, diary, or similar high value agro products), kindly invite them to this thread. They should say what they are currently doing, provide pictures of their farm if possible, and say why they need investment in their business.

Modified:
1) I am interested in funding a young person interested in agriculture.
2) I am not interested in funding an already established company or corporation.
3) My target is young entrepreneurial Nigerians with interest in agriculture.
4) I am not interested in someone who is actively seeking some other form of employment - who will abandon the farm when they get a job somewhere.
5) I am not interested in funding someone who is actively making plans to migrate from Nigeria and abandon their farm.
6) Previous nairaland posts showing interest in agriculture will be an added advantage.
7) Women are encouraged.

Extra:
If interested, kindly share your profile, and pictures of your farm (if you have).

The investment I need is to acquire an acre of farmland which costs 170,000
It's going to be on lease agreement for three years

Clearing will cost around 47,000

Seedlings from cocoa research institute in ibadan and transport will cost around 60,000

Total 277,000

It is about the funds actually if you follow events.their budget was 800bil and the minister of state Clem agba said they had 400 bil but were looking for the remaining and even appealed to Nigerians to help contribute.what does that suggest? The NPC trained swf, facilitators and other higher level staffs more than once without hassles.but once it was time to train supervisors and enumerators that consisted they bulk of adhoc, they couldn't.why? All NPC staffs at the training centres are ready and have arranged classes and equipment ready for classes.even the chair isa kwara stated that they haven't bought some devices.they were only buying time to see if more funds will be released.dont forget that 800 bil is just an estimate not actual amount available

For this Census, its bye bye

Someone os trying to scam another person and you're saying you shouldn't be "rude". I no even know the rudeness wey you dey talk. So in court she will tender her justification that she held on to someone else's money because she didn't like how he spoke to her Really

She's meant to send him 1200 minimum, for the tome wasted, money to move stuff again and generally frustrating his effort. That's why Nigeria is the way it is today, someone will be doing something very bad, stealing, killing and you speak against it and you will be claiming you're older than the person. Silly people around to will join to say "she fit born am now". Someone is stealing and actively trying to destroy the lives of others and what the silly persons are concerned about is that "you spoke in a rude way"

Business / Re: How Lucrative Is A Supermarket Business? by fbabs(m): 8:02pm On Mar 26, 2023
adonainana:
Even though you are going into a retail business, the business itself whether or not it’s profitable is dependent on so many many factors.

One thing about Nigeria is the only way to make insane money and easy money in Nigeria is to buy something, emphasis on any thing and sell it on for a profit.

This is how Alaba boys, dangote, computer village boys, ladipo boys, etc make and have made thier money till time immemorial.

Now going back to the question, supermarket is a good business but you haven’t mentioned where in Ibadan you have secured a premises to do your proposed business

I remmeber one popular supermarket opening at Felele junction challenge side that year and from the word get go even though it was right in front of a commercial back ( FCMB) and also right beside UBA bank, the supermarket didn’t last long and closed down why ?

Apparently it had to close cos the money it was spending on power including diesel was way too much than how much it was making

So your first issue one of the most underrated issue 1) how do you plan to deal with power supply

Also just to let you know there aren’t that many ways for a supermarket to run so well without a plan for electricity

Most supermarkets that I know and some cold rooms that ended up closing for business ended up closing because of this small ( but mighty ) problem of power generation

Apart from the location you are in and the expected footfall of the area you want to open your business in. Please if you don’t want to cry out of the business, make sure your feasibility study is complete on the type of light the area has ( nepa light ) and what’s your exact plan on running generators when there is no nepa

Your answer to the above paragraph would determine how profitable your supermarket business would be and vice versa

If it seems that even yourself you don’t know how you will power your supermarket 24-7 with light comfortably then please abort mission ASAP

One thing about business is you can’t run it with emotions or vibe, or it’s going to get better one day mentality. It won’t get better one day.

If you are extremely desperate to kinvest in something this year or something ( which sometimes is a real urge).

Go for a school businesses, it’s a slower type of business and it’s grows itself organically and school business is the only type of business in Nigeria that never closes down

Kind regards
