European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by FBS: 10:47am On Jul 30, 2009
debosky:
This is clearly the case. What exactly it is? No one knows. There are a number of possibilities.

1. Arsenal is in very bad financial straits and cannot afford to keep a large wage bill nor turn down offers like those for Ade & Kolo. We need the cash to stay afloat and even if that means risking CL qualification, we must try with the minimum amount of resources

2. Wenger is silently bidding for 1/2 players who he is confident will more than compensate for the losses and fire us upwards. He also realises that the players he is sold are greatly flawed and the cash is far more valuable to us. . . instead of selling too late like TH14 and Vieira arguably were.

3. Wenger is so far lost in his statistics and stubborn insistence on his 'vision' that he thinks he can win/challenge even with what he has and believes he doesn't need any more players.

Of those three options, option 3 is the worst because we will be in for a painful season if we have an unrealistic or delusional man at the helm
Then pray it is not the 3rd option 'cos you don't want to be fighting relegation not to talk of CL spot.
Still I'm not convinced that he is selling players "only" for the money. The man must have some "brilliant" plans.
Well, except if item 1 is the case.
Would you agree that if you guys don't win anything this season then it's bye-bye AW?
2 cents that he will be on his way to RM? cheesy

ARSENE WENGER wants Patrick Vieira to make a shock return to Arsenal.
Vieira, 33, who spent nine years at the club before being sold to Juventus for Ј13.7million in 2005, is considering an identical offer from Gunners boss Wenger to the one made by bitter North London rivals Spurs.

Both clubs are ready to give the Inter Milan midfielder a one-year contract with big bonuses.

dayokanu:
What more can I say

This is beauty from the Rinus Michel school of total football.

Milan with Storari - Zambrotta (Kaladze 74), Nesta (Onyewu 64), Thiago Silva (Di Gennaro 74), Favalli (Oddo 64) - Abate (Antonini 74), Flamini, Pirlo, Jankulovski (Gattuso 46) - Ronaldinho (Borriello 46), Pato

Who else did not play for Milan?

Bayern played without Ribery, Toni, and Klose and still whooped Milan 4-1. Youngsters like Muller born 1989, Baumjohan 1987, Badstuber 1989 were the guys on field

Europe should be very afraid

Thank God for eccentrics.
Today we are Kings of London.  cheesy

Worth emulating.

So much is being wasted on:
Manolo, J. Choo, Gucci etc
Yet we don't have a 100th of what he has.  sad
not everyone does that but you are right, people waste money on unnecessary things.
Nice to know that the players have a good rapport with the owner.

Politics › Re: 1960: Were We Ready For Independence? by FBS: 1:43pm On Jul 29, 2009
Those saying and asking for a return to coloniasm and apartheid should think twice before making such statements. That Nigeria was not ready for independence don’t mean that you should become slaves in your own country.
The forming of the country itself was fundamentally wrong and there was basically no model to follow.
All the constitutions (from Richards to Macpherson) were all flawed. Nigeria was not meant to be. It was and remains an error.

What is the way forward? Me thinks it is glaring for all to see.

Round and round we go. It has been said that Nigeria was not meant to be a country. A fatal error and a time bomb waiting to explode.

STOP PRESS!: OFF TOPIC.THIS IS A STORY FOR ALL TO READ.

Rich man poor man

THEY wear fancy clothes to play the Beautiful Game these days - and get paid some beautiful wages too.
But 100 years ago Britain's first footballing superstar showed his silky skills on the pitch for just Ј4 a week - and designed the team's kit in his spare time.

Billy Meredith - called the Welsh Wizard and famous for running down the wing with a TOOTHPICK in his mouth - was a hero at both Manchester clubs and designed United's iconic "V" strip in 1909.

Fergie: Real will be flops!
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Alex Ferguson is dismissing Real Madrid as no threat to his Euro ambitions.
Fergie said: "I don't know how their manager Manuel Pellegrini plans to pick his side because it has no balance.

"I told Ronaldo before he left that he will end up playing centre-half because I don't think they have one!"

BMW to quit F1 at end of season
BMW will withdraw from Formula 1 at the end of this season.

The German car manufacturer supply engines to Sauber but have cited "current developments in motor sport" as the reason for their pull-out.

BMW are the second major manufacturer to leave the sport in eight months after Honda's withdrawal in December.
