Angelina Jolie: Your Kids Don’t Want You to Be Perfect. They Just Want You to Be Honest
Dear Parents,
I am thinking of you. I am imagining how hard each of you is trying to get through your days. How much you want to lead your loved ones through this. How you worry. How you plan. How you smile for them, when inside you feel at times you are breaking.
I was not a very stable youth. In fact, I never thought I could be anyone’s mom. I remember the decision to become a parent. It wasn’t hard to love. It wasn’t hard to dedicate myself to someone and something greater than my life. What was hard was knowing that from now on I needed to be the one to make sure everything was okay. To manage it and make it work. From food to school to medical. Whatever would come. And to be patient.
I realized I stopped my constant daydreaming, instead staying always ready for any break into what I was doing or thinking to answer a need. It was a new skill to acquire.
So now, in the midst of this pandemic, I think of all the mothers and fathers with children at home. All hoping they can do everything right, answer all needs, and stay calm and positive.
One thing that has helped me is to know that’s impossible.
It is a lovely thing to discover that your children don’t want you perfect. They just want you honest. And doing your best. In fact, the more room they have to be great where you are weak, the stronger they may become. They love you. They want to help you. So in the end, it’s the team you build. And in a way, they are raising you up too. You grow together.
1. Assume that lockdown would be extended several times and would last several months.
2. Do not wait for extension to put plan in action.
3. Relocate to my village or any village where I can live off the land
4. Do not allow self to be overwhelmed with fear of the so called Coro
5. Assume a time would come when, electricity will be switched off as people do not have funds to pay the bills.
6. Assume a time will come when fuel filling stations would close down, making it impossible to even run a generator.
7. Equip yourself for off-grid living , with things like solar systems even if to charge phones and other devices.
8. Absence of electricity make arrangements on how to fetch or harvestbclean water for drinking and cooking.
9. Time may come when telecom companies will stop operation, for lack of electricity, meaning no more internet or phone calls and loss of contact for family and friends.
10. Make a plan for alternative means of communication in the event of shut down of telecom networks.
11. A time may come when we make be forced to take vaccines either via fear, desperation or force. Make a plan to be in a position to take the right decisions and actions for yourself and family.
btaliat: We have two sets of people in the society : the rich and poor. The rich want the lock down because they can afford everything they need, the poor or common man don't want it except adequate palliatives are provided. Why can't the rich in each locality gather together, provide for the poor within their reach so that they won't even have it in thought to go out to fend for themselves since the most corrupt government in Nigeria has refused to help the masses. The fact is that neither we love ourselves nor the government loves us. We are only united on social media.
You are right. Some rich people are very greedy and selfish.
yyba: sorry op but , those guys are very simple. I am very familiar with that air force barrack located closed to airport junction in maikunkele. definitely their must be something that actually went wrong. so sorry for the incident
That they are simple to you does not mean they are simple to everyone. In every barrack or station, there are mad men, pray you don't meet the wrong ones.
In case this becomes reality that you woke up one morning, maybe in few days time and government announces another 14 days lockdown, what will you do? How will you react? What are your plans?
EVILFOREST: POINT OF CORRECTION. PEOPLE blast POLITHIEFIANS a lot. Don't even go there.
Although we have those who still leak their Feet. Just like some people tremble at the mention of their pastors' name. She made a wonderful video. Now that PEOPLE have stopped going to church, what has changed..? Is God punishing people for not going to Churches and Mosques..?
There is nothing special about her video. This is a normal attention seeker, can't you see it? Give this lady a chance, she will make more videos to grow her YouTube channel, it's all business. My point is, there are many issues in Nigeria to talk about, why pick on pastors? Are they the ones that ordered and locked you indoors? No!
Poster, your proustite attire contradicts your message. These days, everybody corrects pastors, but they are afraid to talk to their wicked, heartless and evil leaders. In developed countries people hold their leaders accountable, but here in Nigeria, people praise looting leaders and fight religious leaders. Shame.
NCDC DG, I don't blame your stupidity at all. You can talk of extension of lockdown for even a year because you are working and earning your salary every month right? Even the president knows that any stupid attempt to extend this useless lockdown will lead to mass protest. It has started in US already, expect same soon in Nigeria and I can assure you that the military won't do shit.
Chapii: When I say Lockdown will kill 1000times more people than Covid-19, I was not exaggerating. Many have died on the street like this woman, we are not talking of many more that are dying from hunger and preventable diseases in their houses. The white house yesterday confirmed what we've been saying for weeks now that Coronavirus is not potent in this part of the world because of our weather. It dies quickly at temperatures over 26oC. Our average city temperatures is over 30oC. Nobody is showing symptoms of Coronavirus but NCDC keeps releasing audio numbers of cases and deaths.
God bless you for saying the truth. This lockdown is useless.
If this story is true, then, some government officials aided it. How come someone flew into Nigeria from a high-risk country and was not quarantined? He escaped from the hospital in Nasarawa and was not declared wanted as they did in some states for those who escaped from isolation centers.
