He had worked on both on my uber cars and personal cars before. I had a blue civic that was shorten oil and he was able to fix it . Than the same civic had excess fuel consumption and other issues that nobody was able to diagnose.. It was taken to different mechanic and it was try and error job everyone was doing.. The civic specialist near ladipo was useless, it was bring the car tday or come today.. Time was wasted going up and down ,it was like paying someone to do a job and you are begging them after paying them .. It was nightmare and I eventually selling the car less than 1 week I put it up for sale ..someone that is patient enough with the car will figure it out and fix it.........

My main objective is stay away from mechanic shops as much as possible.. My goal is if anything needs fixing it will just minor things

God has finally vindicated me... And I was doing 25k weekly, dying in silence. During the lockdown when @10k self.... Sir it was wisdom at work all along. Buying 6k fuel daily for a honda civic? It was weird, yet never defaulted. Bros those period were really challenging but I kept on fighting all because I've mouths to feed. Would I have dropped the car at that point? I thought of it but... How Will family feed?

There was this particular day I spent all the money I worked to buy fuel back into the car against next day work and only 2k was left my wife was like, "bae you sure you won't drop this car and look for another?" I was like, in my mind thinking, "e b like say dis madam no know how long I waited for this car". I just told her don't worry we'll pass through it and will ve fine in the end. And honestly, that was what really happened.

I knew a day like this will come.

I wasn't surprise when I first saw car on sale I only pity that man I saw driving the car at ketu because a lemon as been sold out unless he finds the solution.

Thank God we r all fine now.

Plenty of owners has sold off their cars, because they cannot make money, they only realize this after 1 or 2years.

Dis driver started working with me 3weeks ago, have to retrieve the vehicle immediately, he is calm and very manipulative. But was a able to detect his deceit early.

I thought you have a mechanic that services your cars? Opening the container doesn't stop them from selling the oil, it takes a thief to buy from a thief. You need a mechanic sir. When the cars are due, let them go there for servicing and repairs.

Well that is transport business for you .. You have to monitor at least try to monitor from driver to mechanic when it comes to repairs ... Will continue to enforce opening the gallon of engine oil before we give it to anyone to do oil change..... The Civic still runs ok but will do engine flush on Monday or so . We bought Liquid moly engine flush from a nairandlander ..And I read great reviews about it online.......civic engine are very strong ..

Majority of Nigerian drivers still find it difficult to understand that cars fitted with engines below 2.4 aren't meant for highways/long distance journey. The RPM of a v6/v8 (or more) engines at 140 are far lower than that of an i4, More cylinders = lower RPM, less vibration, etc. A Toyota Corolla traveling above 100km/h burns more fuel than a Toyota Camry traveling at same speed. These cars are designed for different purposes.

So in another sense I should do above 100k100km/h on a corolla? Or a civic?? How about a Camry 2.4l2.4ltr engine

Please sir If you think no driver is worthy of your Tesla cars, drive them alone, or, maybe your family members are trustworthy to deliver or you park them. You can't have what you condemn, you can't have a good driver when you're condemning them. Yes, drivers are one of the most difficult set of workers to manage, but I think diplomacy pays.

I can't imagine how people come here to condemn drivers, yet the same drivers are serving them. If you have a bad driver, deal with him as a person instead of generalizing it because there are good ones out there.

Anybody that's not happy I rented a car during the lockdown at 10k should point a driver that rented @25k and above or that even paid at all or better still go hug a transformer. You complain somebody rented your car at 5k yet you still collected the money, why did you agree to do 5j in the first place? Now you crying fowl he rented at 5k/10k. Who's fooling who here?

I have read all your posts on this thread and today I'm going to address them.

This is why "Nigerian workers are bad". Bosses/owners make them so.

You obviously don't understand it costs more to find and retrain a new employee than it does to retain an old one. Same as customers. You obviously also don't understand what it takes to build LOYALTY and employee buy-in/ownership in your mission.

The companies that started fresh are struggling with new employees. Not to put my business out there but I made sure not to let ANYONE go during lockdown (even the ones I was thinking of firing before). I informed them because there was no income I could only afford to pay 40% and they were okay with that. How? FROM PROFITS WHEN THE GOING WAS GOOD. I prioritized their safety and opened later than other businesses. It was the employees who insisted they would take the risk and go to work until they couldn't. THEY came up with a plan where they took turns running a skeleton crew. Why? I was thinking of them and in turn they thought of me. They understand we are a TEAM through the good and the bad.

During lockdown they did everything they could to stay open or continue doing business quietly. Guess what? EVERY MONTH SINCE SEPTEMBER THEY HAVE BROKEN THE PREVIOUS SALES RECORD and IN MY ABSENCE! They are currently posting numbers almost DOUBLE what they posted before all the katakata started. Their productivity is through the ROOF and my complaints/mistakes are the lowest they've ever been, even with the ones I was considering firing. I have been contacted by other frustrated businesses owners asking what I did to make my employees so loyal as they tried to poach them repeatedly and they won't budge. I just tell them I treat them like I like to be treated. Even one of the so called "bad NL Uber drivers" now works for me and can testify to this if he chooses to reveal himself.

So please stop coming to this thread to insult and demoralize people trying to make a living. Create an Uber owner partner thread where you can criticize, insult and advice all you want and no one will bother you but savvy business man you are not in my opinion.

I've been wondering how a grown up man would come out bold to say regular "sacking of employee is business"! Well, people operate base on their standard but its good you educated him with this post only that it went for free to him and his followers.

If Exon mobil, Total and other multinationals sacks employees they've spent millions of dollars to train you think they woild still be existing now? Why do you think companies finds it hard to fire or retire old workers? You think they can afford to pay them off and let them go?
A driver works for you for a long period and you fire him just for a simple accident, or for low remittance which was as a result of a global pandemic or because he is sick and taking time to recover or because he has not been able to pay you some debt he owns? And you expect the universe to bring a better person to you next.

I love this thing call karma because it has a way of bringing back your pass deeds to you.

The last time I checked I only saw or met people who were able to own a car through HP and it was a smooth ride for them for over 2-3yrs for most of the lucky once that had good partners. For those that had wicked and bad partners likes jpworld they got their hands burnt along the line and lost out. Among all I'm yet to see a MAN that was able to own a car from rental. if you've seen one b4 pls hear from him then share with us how he did it.

Different strokes for different folks. Nobody is cheating you in as much as you’re happy with your drivers and they remit on time and as at when due. Initially i did all the repairs but over time I discovered it made them reckless and nonchalant so I reduced the rental fee and shared the maintenance cost 50/50. Presently they remit 25k and I can tell you for free that the rate of repairs have reduced except for regular and routine maintenance

Look deeply at you turnovers, ask yourself are you making profit renting your property at the present price or not? Then look for a means, discuss with your employees and notify on change of business plans, the main objective for every business is First customers satisfaction and secondly, to make profit, so, no CEO plans to make lost. If you're making profit already my brother be happy and don't compare yourself to jp or other persons and if you're not then discuss with your workers to find a leveling ground of operation. Remember you need them as much as they also need you.

The economy and country is already hard enough , don't make it harder for people simply because of government policies.

From your write up you make it look like partners are majorly the issue but I don’t really agree with you. I can understand new drivers wanting to try their luck with Uber due to loss and lack of jobs, dwindling economy and the need to be actively doing something. My issue is those who are already on the platform and for some reasons their partners withdrew their cars. The rate and number of people waiting on new partners on this platform is really high which necessitated my question.

As a partner it would take dishonesty and insincerity for me to withdraw my car from a rider and then I must have drawn your attention to my grouse with you before even taking any action. It’s the reason why I can’t do HP because People have died for just withdrawing their cars from non paying drivers who in turn feel slighted and offended especially when they have paid over half of the agreed price.
