I disagree with most of what op wrote here especially number one Nigeria didn't move on the complains of election fraud, the electoral law establishes election petition tribunal that listen to election fraud petitions and many political parties and politicians always makes use of it during electioneering time.
That is a different thing entirely!
Even the ruling class has shown several times that they strongly use the judiciary to finally rig out opposition.

In this write up I took my time not to be partisan because I want us all to take a panoramic look at issues.

Apel147:
Possible Hypocrisy in the Write-up:

1. Calling for Unity While Dividing:

The message appeals to unity (“truth, unity, and vigilance”) but sharply frames the issue in partisan terms—ruling party vs. opposition, VIP protection vs. harassment. This framing may alienate those who do not align strictly with the opposition, contradicting the call for nationwide unity.

2. Condemning Manipulation While Possibly Engaging in It:

While the text accuses the ruling class of manipulating the system, it uses emotionally charged language (“thugs,” “stolen voice,” “corrupt leaders”) that could be seen as rhetorical manipulation. This raises the question: is the message fighting manipulation with more manipulation?

3. Advocating Truth While Offering No Balanced Perspective:

The piece condemns selective deployment of security and sabotage but offers no acknowledgment of the complexity of election logistics or whether any opposition-aligned figures may also engage in similar acts. By presenting only one side, the writer risks presenting a partial truth under the guise of defending truth.

4. Rejecting Complacency Without Concrete Action:

The conclusion exhorts people to “reject complacency,” yet there is no practical roadmap or example of resistance beyond awareness. Calling out hypocrisy without a clear commitment to ethical behavior or reforms from all sides (including the opposition) can also feel performative.
You tried but you can do better. I took my time to write that. Articles like that are painstakingly done. It is not partisan.

We have never had it this bad and unless you are not truthful you will agree with me that we can do better.

Six “never-fail” Rigging Tools In The Hands Of Nigeria’s Corrupt Ruling Class

As we look forward to 2027 with the hope of ushering in a new era of leadership, it’s crucial for every Nigerian to understand the tools traditionally used by corrupt political elites to manipulate the electoral process. These tactics have been refined over time and are often deployed with impunity, making true democracy difficult to achieve.
Below are six of the most common—and dangerous—tools of election rigging employed by the ruling class in Nigeria:

1. Docility and Apathy of the Nigerian Masses

“Rig the election, declare the results—and nothing will happen.”
This is perhaps the most reliable tool in the arsenal of corrupt politicians. They bank on the passive acceptance of the populace, who, despite witnessing electoral fraud, rarely rise in unified protest. A classic example is the 2007 and 2023 presidential election, widely condemned by international observers for massive irregularities. Yet, despite glaring evidence of malpractice, the nation moved on with barely a ripple of resistance. The belief that “God will judge” or “Na their time” (Emilokan) is weaponized to keep the masses calm, distracted, and disengaged from holding power accountable.

2. Sponsoring Crises in Opposition Parties
“If we can’t defeat them, we’ll destroy them from within.”
This tactic involves infiltrating rival parties—especially rising movements like the Labour Party or revitalized factions of the PDP—with the aim of creating division, court battles, parallel leaderships, and confusion. Prior to the 2023 elections, the Labour Party faced multiple legal distractions and factional disputes fueled by internal sabotage, most of which were suspected to be backed by outside interests. By the time opposition candidates are ready to campaign, they’re already entangled in a web of court cases and internal distrust.

3. Weaponizing INEC and the Judiciary
“Disqualify credible candidates; the courts will cover it up.”
The electoral umpire, INEC, is supposed to be independent—but in reality, it's often manipulated to serve the interests of the ruling class. Disqualifications on flimsy technical grounds, late-night changes to election procedures, and compromised Returning Officers are just the beginning. When these actions are challenged in court, the judiciary—especially at the Appeal or Supreme Court levels—often issues shocking verdicts that legalize injustice. For instance, the judicial validation of questionable outcomes in gubernatorial elections in states like Imo and Osun has left many wondering whether justice is truly blind—or just for sale.

4. Touting, Intimidation, and Political Thuggery
“Use violence to scare voters—and silence the brave.”
On election day, armed thugs loyal to political godfathers are deployed to polling units to disrupt voting, snatch ballot boxes, and intimidate voters—especially in opposition strongholds. In the 2023 elections, there were documented reports of voter suppression in Lagos, Rivers, and parts of Kogi State, where people were physically attacked for supporting certain candidates. Police and security agents often look the other way—or are even complicit.

5. Propaganda, Media Manipulation, and Divide-and-Rule Tactics

“If we can't win with truth, we'll win with tribalism and lies.”
Controlling the narrative is key. Politicians exploit ethnic, religious, and regional sentiments to divide the electorate and distract from issues of competence and corruption. For example, candidates are branded as “anti-North,” “anti-Christian,” or “anti-Yoruba” to ignite fear and loyalty. Social media armies spread fake news, while television and radio stations controlled by the state or loyalists amplify these narratives. The 2015 and 2023 elections were especially rife with disinformation campaigns designed to polarize Nigerians.

6. Institutional Rigging Through Captured Agencies

“When the system is compromised, rigging becomes policy.”
Beyond INEC and the judiciary, institutions like the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), security agencies, and even the National Orientation Agency are often used as political tools. NURTW, for example, has been accused of mobilizing thugs under the guise of transport logistics. Security operatives are deployed selectively—offering VIP protection to ruling party agents while harassing opposition campaigners. Electoral logistics are deliberately sabotaged in key areas, resulting in disenfranchisement, especially in opposition strongholds.

Conclusion:
The road to a credible 2027 election begins with awareness. These six tactics are not myths—they are proven strategies that have kept corrupt leaders in power and stolen the voice of the people. It is up to us, the electorate, to refuse complacency, reject manipulation, and insist on reforms that safeguard our democracy.
If we don’t fight back with truth, unity, and vigilance, we may find ourselves repeating the same mistakes—and getting the same disappointing results.

Obi will be considering the PDP option , he will have to look at the advantage and disadvantages in it.
One thing is sure though ,if he moves to PDP ,he can't and won't. Win the presidential election. He will most certainly be given the ticket but he won't win . The narrative PDP will be selling to him now is that if in 2023 without any state governor or any senate or rep,if he was able to I'll over 6million votes ,then with PDP governors and senators and others ,that he will do better .
But if he remains in adc ,the possibility of him getting the ticket there is 50/50-
His credibility is also at stake ,if he goes back to PDP ,he will lose many people support
Wike is a black snake and will most certainly ensure that Obi did not get the PDP ticket, i can tell you that for free. At the moment PDP is the last political party any serious politician like PO will want to align with. PO has to be more proactive and show enough character that our votes can be duly protected.

The PDP stand no chance to have PO back.
PoliticsWhy Peter Obi Should Be Cautious About Rejoining The PDP by Felimax(op):
As political realignments continue in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi, has reportedly come under increasing pressure and backlash from elements within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to return to their fold. While such overtures may be presented as genuine, there are compelling reasons why Mr. Obi should approach them with caution and deep strategic reflection.

1. The PDP’s Crisis of Credibility and Discipline
The PDP has faced persistent internal crises, particularly in its failure to enforce party discipline. Despite repeated calls from party loyalists and observers, the party has failed to take decisive action against prominent figures—such as former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike—who openly engaged in anti-party activities during the 2023 election cycle. Wike and other dissenting members either backed opposition candidates or undermined the party's interests without consequence.
This lack of accountability has severely eroded and dent the PDP’s moral authority and public trust. Any political platform seeking national relevance must be seen as upholding internal cohesion, fairness, and democratic values. The failure to sanction erring members most especially Wike casts doubt on the sincerity of the party’s leadership and its commitment to true reform. Wike remains a black snake that should never be trusted.

2. Potential Sabotage of Obi’s Presidential Ambition
There are growing concerns that the PDP’s interest in Peter Obi may not be entirely in good faith. Some analysts argue that inviting him back could be a strategic move to neutralize his influence or create internal divisions within the Labour Party and Obidient movement. Worse still, it is feared that this effort may be indirectly aligned with the ruling party’s strategy to weaken the opposition ahead of 2027 by ensuring that credible alternatives like Obi are sidelined or fractured with INEC as a major key player in truncating free and fair credible elections
Obi’s acute sound mind and growing popularity—especially among young, urban, and independent voters—represents a serious threat to the status quo. Thus, any alliance that lacks clear terms and mutual respect could risk undermining his platform and the broader movement for political accountability and generational leadership change.

3. Shift in Electoral Demographics and Regional Dynamics
Unlike in 2023, Peter Obi now enjoys a broader support base that cuts across regions, ethnicities, and religious lines. Notably, he has gained significant ground in the North and South-West, with many disaffected PDP and APC supporters now viewing him as a viable and principled alternative most especially from the Atiku camp with me as a primary example.
More importantly, Obi has effectively positioned himself as a champion of regional equity, particularly in a country where presidential power has long oscillated between the North and South-West. His candidacy addresses long-standing imbalance about political exclusion in the South-East, thus garnering sympathy even beyond his immediate regional base. In this context, a merger with the PDP, especially if not well negotiated, may compromise this delicate balance and alienate his growing support.

4. Rejoining PDP Risks Undermining the Momentum of the "Obidient" Movement
Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign was not merely a personal ambition—it gave birth to a mass grassroots movement of Nigerians who are tired of recycled leadership and traditional party politics. Rejoining the PDP may be perceived by many of these supporters as a betrayal of the values that defined his candidacy: transparency, integrity, youth inclusion, and new political thinking. The PDP is obviously a tool and a third arm of the President Tinubu administration and this is visible to the blind.
To retain the trust of his base, Obi must prioritize building an enduring political structure that challenges the old order rather than compromising or romancing with it.

5. There Are Viable Alternatives for Coalition Building
Rather than returning to a party that failed to reform itself, Peter Obi would be better served by forging alliances with like-minded political actors and parties who share a vision for national transformation. With electoral reforms and increased political awareness among the Nigerian electorate, 2027 offers a unique opportunity to break the duopoly of APC and PDP—if managed carefully.

Conclusion
Peter Obi's political journey has become a symbol of hope for millions of Nigerians yearning for a break from the past. While alliances are part of every democracy, they must be based on shared vision, transparent terms, and a commitment to the public good. Given the PDP’s unresolved internal contradictions and the strategic risks involved, rejoining the party at this time could jeopardize the very ideals that distinguish Obi in the eyes of the electorate.

Trust must be earned—not recycled.

I write from Port Harcourt.
