Education / Studyexpress To Reward Exceptional Dedication To Studies In Secondary Schools by femilek8(m): 3:52pm On Jul 06, 2023
https://tribuneonlineng.com/studyexpress-to-reward-exceptional-dedication-to-studies-in-secondary-schools-in-nigeria/

In a bid to celebrate students who have demonstrated academic performance and exceptional dedication to their studies, an international education and innovation company, StudyExpress, has set up an annual scholarship scheme known as StudyExpress Annual Scholastic Achievement (SASA) award scheme for students across secondary schools in Nigeria.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Mr Kehinde Olorunfemi, the scholarship scheme, which commenced over a year ago, had rewarded over 30 brilliant students selected from secondary schools across Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states respectively.

Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune on the rationale behind the gesture, Mr Olorunfemi said that the award is not only meant to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the recipients, but to also motivate and inspire others to embrace and strive for excellence.

“The SASA Award serves as a testament to the importance of academic excellence and the impact it has on shaping future leaders,” he stressed.

He noted that winning the SASA award will provide the students with numerous opportunities to further their academic pursuits and career aspirations, as well as motivation for consistency in all areas of their lives.

He noted that the award is open to every student enrolled in any selected public and private secondary school in the country.

He, however, explained that to win the award, the students must have met certain criteria and demonstrated exceptional academic performance.

“Students who meet the eligibility requirements for the award will be rewarded with a cash prize, a certificate of recognition, and the opportunity to network with industry professionals and other career mentors, he noted.

Speaking further, he stated that the annual SASA award presentation is carried out at a special recognition ceremony taking place on the same day the selected schools by the company are holding their End-of-The-Year programme, where parents, staff, families, and friends are gathered to honour the diligence and outstanding performance.

He encouraged schools to key into this project saying, “We look forward to making our little impacts on the lives of the younger generation and in building a better nation where academic excellence is appreciated.”

StudyExpress collaborates with highly skilled trainers, internationally accredited institutions, school associations to organise career advisory and mentorship programmes, symposium, inter-school debates and essay writing competition, among others, to revolutionise the development of students in secondary schools both formally and informally.

Travel / Fact Check: The European Travel Ban Does Not Affect Students From Nigeria by femilek8(m): 1:26pm On Jul 01, 2020
FACTS ABOUT THE PROPOSED BAN ON TRAVELLERS TO EUROPE FROM NIGERIA AND OTHER COUNTRIES:
By studyexpress.ng

In the last few days, we have received several phone calls, emails and inquiries about the proposed ban on some countries by the European Union from July 1st, 2020. People trust our source as a reputable and one of the leading International Students Placement agencies in Nigeria and information from us is always credit-worthy. Even before now, in our article on the 2nd of April 2020 titled "Nigerians Studying Abroad and COVID-19: Implications, Fears and solutions", we had suggested that people should expect stricter immigration measures from many countries across the world after the pandemic.

In view of the proposed ban by EU countries, we want to make some things clear to our students, clients and parents. This is a result of fact-checks we conducted on the proposed policy from the European Union and other bodies.

FACT 1: The European Union plans to open its borders to non-essential travelers such as tourists and most business people from a limited number of countries outside the bloc from July 1.

FACT 2: The EU recommended that the Member States should start allowing third-country nationals to enter the EU starting from July 1, gradually and partially, based on the epidemiological situation in each third-country.

FACT 3: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay are on the list os "safe travelers". China will be included if it lets in EU visitors because reciprocity is a condition.

FACT 4: The EU considers those countries to have similar or better control of the COVID-19 pandemic as the bloc itself, based on the number of cases per 100,000 people in the previous two weeks. The EU average is around 16.

FACT 5: Travellers from the “safe list” countries will potentially be able to go to Europe and then travel freely throughout the Schengen area, which includes 22 EU countries, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

FACT 6: The list will be reviewed every two weeks to add some countries and remove others. It is only a recommendation to EU members, who can still impose some travel restrictions.

FACT 7: Travel restrictions are not supposed to apply to travellers “with an essential function”, including healthcare workers, seasonal agricultural labour, diplomats, international students and people in need of humanitarian protection.

Business / Dear Tailor, This Is The Best Time To Cash Out. by femilek8(m): 9:50am On May 03, 2020
Dear Tailor,

This is your best time to cash out.

It's no longer news that the Federal government has decided to ease the lockdown from Monday 4th in Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja. There are, however, some measures outlined to curb continued widespread of the virus within the populace. Part of these is the compulsory use of face masks. Some other states in Nigeria have followed suit to enforce face masks, even immediately.

In the last few days, we have seen different shapes, shades, and colors of face masks in town. We have also seen different patterns of Ankara being used as face masks.

This is a very good opportunity for Tailors to make good money. Some people should pls think out of the box. Instead of making different shades and patterns of fabric, reach out to corporate organizations and make customized face masks for them, inscribe their logos. A lot of companies wouldn't want their staff to come to the office each day with different kinds of face masks and be looking like a fairly used masquerade. Even small companies of 5 staff wouldn't say no to such a creative idea.

Big companies can also use this as an opportunity to promote their brands, even share branded face masks as a form of Corporate social responsibility at this critical time.

Dear tailor, check your contacts, get in touch with that MD and CEO close to you, make a proposal, or even do a sample and give it to them. Try with one company and see how more people would be looking for you. Don't just sit there and be crying of no patronage. There may be no Owambe again in the next 6 months. Get creative. Start the way you are. Start now.

I wish you all the best.

Yours sincerely,
Kehinde Olorunfemi

Business / Most Common Mistakes To Avoid When Selling On Whatsapp. by femilek8(m): 5:26pm On Apr 17, 2020
Welcome to this series about MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN SELLING ON WHATSAPP. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have devoted the last couple of weeks to teaching about WhatsApp Marketing at our online classes. We have seen lots of great testimonials from almost everyone who has attended our classes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we monitor the progress that each person is making in his/her efforts to market their products and services through the use of social media, and especially WhatsApp, we have, however, noticed some mistakes we’re making in the process.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today and in our subsequent posts, we will discuss these mistakes and how to avoid them, so that this strategy doesn’t backfire.

1. DON’T TRY TO SELL ALL THE TIME.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’ve given you a tip about sending interesting content. This should always be taken into account; after all, no one likes to be constantly bombarded with commercial proposals.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, think carefully before you send any messages to your contacts.
Even if your ultimate goal is to sell through WhatsApp, your audience needs to know that you wish to help them with practical solutions for everyday life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Share tips, information, and content that would benefit them and improve their life.
Therefore, don’t try to sell all the time. Be mindful and only send messages with truly interesting information.

2. DON’T CREATE GROUPS UNNECESSARILY.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we discussed in our training on Introduction to WhatsApp Marketing, groups may be a very effective tool in reaching out to your prospects and existing clients, however, we encourage you to do less of it. Except if is extremely important, don’t create a WhatsApp group to promote your business. This may expose your contacts to a lot of privacy and security risks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Again, as we mentioned in our class, don’t EVER add people to a group without asking for their permission first. If you do, you may be at risk of being blocked or muted. This will again be counter-productive to whatever you are trying to achieve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once again, think twice before you set up a group. ⠀

3. DON’T LEAVE TOO MANY MESSAGES UNATTENDED TO:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As you are making efforts to get a lot of people to patronize your business through series of advertising and marketing campaigns, you must always bear it in mind that lots of people will be anxious to know more about your products and services. People will keep sending you messages, especially via WhatsApp because it’s free and easily accessible. Endeavor to read your messages as quickly as they come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In case you are always busy and you wouldn’t be able to respond to your messages, you can make use of “quick replies” and “away messages”. These tools help you to instantly reply to messages whenever you’re away or unavailable.

4. NO SPAM. NO UNNECESSARY MESSAGES.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you noticed how annoying it is to receive a message with long texts that seem to have been copied and sent to all phone contacts, without having any relationship with the person who received it?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mass messages without any type of personalization are not interesting for this strategy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re not talking about writing completely different messages for each person, because we know that this is hard, especially if your number of customers is very high. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you can – and should -, only send content that interests each user.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once again, if you have more than one product, you need to separate your contacts according to their interests in order to send content related to what they like.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition, avoid sending several messages during the day, one after the other. This might annoy your audience and even make people block your number.

5. DON’T BE INCONSISTENT:

As it is in every business and enterprise, success doesn’t and will never come overnight. You need to stay consistent with your brand, values, content and ideals. In WhatsApp marketing too, let your contacts see your consistency. They want to see how consistent you are in your service delivery, your message and all. Your logo, colors, status stories must be consistent over time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do this and you will see how the sales will start coming over time.

Education / Nigerians Studying Abroad And COVID-19: Implications, Fears And Solutions. by femilek8(m): 5:27pm On Apr 03, 2020
Written by Kehinde Olorunfemi
studyexpress.ng

The Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 is hitting our world very badly. As of today, we have recorded over 1 million cases and more than 50,000 deaths! This is alarming and already a global pandemic. This has disrupted life around the world. This impact is far-reaching and has definitely affected travel and economies globally. Higher education and institutions are not spared in all of these. Current and prospective students are also having their own share of this pandemic. All universities and institutions are shut globally. Most European and American universities have had to change to online classes in order to complete the current semester. The majority are not able to start a new semester.

It is no longer news that Nigeria has some of the highest numbers of international students abroad. This is largely due to the limited number of space in our institutions here, the quality of our education, persistent industrial actions by Nigerian universities’ lecturers and non-teaching staff, and several other reasons.

Before the total lock-down and placement of travel bans in the US and other major European countries, our organization had a number of our students who had obtained their visas and were supposed to travel. They were forced to cancel their flights, a decision which was costly. This pandemic has definitely affected several current students and prospective students alike.

I know the global crisis may have sent fears into the heart of many prospective students and parents, while some may have decided never to attempt to travel anymore. Here comes a time in the history of our world when we are all facing a common enemy. COVID-19 may have affected some countries more than the other, but it is a collective crisis.

As the World Health Organization and other international agencies are working overnight to find a cure or vaccine to tackle the virus, here are some of the ways you can play your part in helping yourself and the world around you.

- Stay positive.
- Maintain good hygiene and social distancing.
- Seek medical attention when you feel unwell.
- Help a friend or neighbor in need.
- Desist from spreading unverified and fake news.

However, how do we manage this situation and prepare for life after the crisis?

For us as an organization that cares about the welfare of our students, we are monitoring the situations and advising our students accordingly. Here are a few suggestions.

1. Cancel/Reschedule flight and stay calm: If you have received your study visa and bought a ticket, we advise that you either cancel or open the ticket to be rescheduled for a later date after the crisis. Stay close to updates from our office. Also, stay positive.

2. Defer your admission: If you have received an offer of admission and yet to apply for Visa, it would be in your best interest to defer the offer to a later date. We are advising students to either defer to September 2020 or February 2021 intakes, as the case may be.

3. Apply for September or February intake: If you are yet to submit your application or you still consider applying, we advise you to apply early but apply for September 2020 or February 2021 intake. We pray and believe the pandemic will be over before mid-year. Do not let the crisis stop your ambition.

4. Study Online: If your plan was to travel for short courses in the summer before, we encourage some students to consider the option of distance learning or online education.
If you are planning to study abroad, it is important that you follow developments closely.

The full extent of consequences on the higher education sector in the months to come is not yet clear and still unfolding. Below, you find a country-by-country overview of the most important current developments for students planning to study abroad [data obtained from study.eu]

There will not be any exceptions to application, document or fee deadlines. With questions about submitting their (potentially delayed) final transcripts & diplomas, tuition fee payments, autumn semester start date, accommodation and insurance, students are supposed to contact their university. (Details: universityadmissions.se)

Switzerland
All universities in Switzerland have suspended face-to-face teaching until 17 April. (Details: swissuniversities.ch)

United Kingdom
Many universities across the United Kingdom have limited or completely suspended face-to-face teaching.
The UK Council for International Student Affairs has compiled its guidance for international students in the UK: ukcisa.org.uk
For international students currently in the UK and unable to return, the UK government has announced a visa extension. (Details: gov.uk)
British universities commonly accept applications for Master's programs on a rolling basis without deadlines. Please check with your desired institutions directly to see if and how COVID-19 might affect application procedures.

Source: www.studyexpress.ng/2019/09/30/10-reasons-to-study-and-live-in-malta/

This year the Mediterranean island nation is the epicentre of the most important cultural activities in Europe.

Studying abroad can be difficult for students who feel nervous about living in unfamiliar surroundings for an extended period of time. For students who might not be comfortable in a wholly alien environment, Malta is a wonderful destination. Not only is it an English-speaking country (Maltese and English are the nation’s official languages), students and expatriates from all over the world live on the island, making it highly diverse and welcoming. English-speaking students are able to communicate with the locals easily and navigate the island efficiently.

1. Students can work while they study
Non-EU students enrolled in a higher education course for more than 90 days will also be allowed to work 20 hours a week, and international graduates will be able to extend their stay in Malta for six months after graduation to look for work.

2. Country member of the European Union
Since 2004, Malta has been part of the European Union and has the largest number of English speakers outside of Britain and Ireland. Its strategic position in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea puts the island just a few hours away from important European cities such as Rome, Milan, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Istanbul and Athens. When studying in Malta you can travel freely through the 28 European Union states at extremely low prices.

3. One of the most peaceful and safest places in the world
Malta is one of the safest countries in the world. Its inhabitants and residents are very friendly, respectful and well educated people in most cases. The crime rate on the island is one of the lowest in Europe, and besides that it has also been listed as one of the places where natural disasters are less likely to occur.

4. Extremely economical cost of living
Unlike other English-speaking countries, Malta is one of the cheapest to live and study. Prices for accommodation and food are affordable and students get special deals in restaurants, gyms and are able to take part in different activities. Public transport also offers special rates for those who are enrolled in academic programmes of a minimum duration of 3 months.

5. High-quality education
Malta has a large influx of students from all over the world with thanks to the quality of its programmes and the presence of international educational institutions. Malta is called the “hidden gem of the Mediterranean,” because it is surrounded by interesting geographical locations such as Sicily and Alexandria, as well as the fact that it is beautiful in and of itself. In addition, it is a great place to study that is set apart from the rest of the world due to its natural landscape, beautiful lakes, and ocean front views. Malta is a relatively peaceful country surrounded by beauty and there is a wide variety of career choices students may choose to focus on. The electronics field and computer technology is becoming a very popular major, as is the field of Education, Engineering, and Medicine. Whatever the preference a student wants to focus on, they will find many options with an education from the University of Malta. Some students decide to take up permanent residence in Malta once they complete their educational requirements. There are many reasons for this, one of which is the free health care and other factors that attract many to make Malta their permanent home. Whether you just want to study there or live there for good, Malta has a lot to offer which will be the kind of educational experience you will not soon forget.

6. Breathtaking places and landscapes
With a privileged location in the Mediterranean sea, Malta has medieval cities and landscapes that have attracted the attention of dozens of filmmakers. ‘Murder on the orient express’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Troy’, ‘Agora’ and ‘Popeye the sailor man’ are some of the films that have been shot on the island. Even one of the most viewed series in the world: ‘Game of Thrones’, chose it as the setting for one of its first episodes. There are hundreds of places to visit, festivals, and other activities that can be found in Malta, Gozo and Comino.

7. Perfect climate
Malta is privileged with approximately 300 days of sunny weather a year. Unlike other European countries, the island does not experience very low temperatures during winter. January and February are the coldest months of the year with temperatures between 10 °C and 15 °C during the day.

9. Students from all over the world
The fact that Malta is the only English-speaking country in the European Union outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland, gives it popularity all over the world, especially in the student communities looking for opportunities to study English or pursue higher education programmes.

10. European Capital of Culture
Malta has been chosen to be the European Capital of Culture for 2018. This title set the scene for hundreds of international activities and events. Its capital Valletta, will receive different types of artistic performances, such as a biennial of contemporary art, music festivals and film shows.

Educational Services / CANADA Needs Nurses: Why Nigerians Need To Study Nursing In Canada. by femilek8(m): 1:07pm On Feb 12, 2019
https://www.valuemedic.com.ng/2019/02/11/canada-needs-nurses-why-nigerians-need-to-study-nursing-in-canada/

According to the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), Canada is on track to have a shortage of 60,000 nurses by the year 2022. Several decades of budget cuts, combined with a failure of nursing employment to keep up with hospital demand has put Canada in the dangerous position of experiencing a severe lack of nursing professionals. A shortage of nurses could result in a lack of quality in Canadian healthcare services, unless action is taken to increase the number of nurses.

One strategy identified for addressing the shortage in nurses is through immigration. By bringing foreign nurses to Canada, the country will be able to improve health services for all Canadians. There are a range of immigration programs available to overseas nurses who want to come to Canada and launch their careers in healthcare!

Canada offers a Nursing programme that can train excellent future nurses at an affordable price of tuition. Throughout your education, you will be able to learn all the skills necessary for every nurse. You will have access to the best professors, new and upgraded labs, and unique learning opportunities.

The Nursing Programme is built with efficiency in mind. The knowledge provided to students is organised in a logical order (from simple to more complex), new skills are taught on the basis of previously learned knowledge. Each student has an opportunity to learn at their own pace.

The Nursing programme in Canada offers a wide variety of exciting and unique clinical opportunities at different hospitals, clinics and care facilities.

Canada wants students because Canada is all about nation-building. Young, intelligent newcomers who have proven they have the credentials and means to assimilate are a big part of that. In short, Canada wants students to come here, study, contribute socially and economically, and stay permanently. Here are some of the benefits you enjoy when you study in Canada:

Affordable Fees: Canada is often the preferred choice for students who may also have the option of studying in countries such as the United States or United Kingdom because of the lower tuition costs. Compared to other countries, Canadian international tuition fees, accommodation and other living expenses remain competitive.

Work & Study Option: Students in Canada have the advantage of being able to work while studying. Among other benefits, this allows them to manage their finances without incurring enormous debt.

Family Relocation: One of the greatest benefits for international students in Canada is that they are eligible to bring their families with them. While in Canada, your spouse would be eligible for an open work permit. So while you’re studying, he or she can work full- or part-time for any employer in Canada. International students are also eligible to bring their dependent children with them while they study as well.

Possibility to work in Canada after graduation and get PR:
International students who have graduated from a Canadian university or college have the opportunity to work in Canada after they receive their degree or diploma. International students can work on campus also during their studies. Most of the students are interested in working with Canadian companies for their better future. After gaining work experience, one can apply for PR to become Canadian citizen.
