Education › Ten Unbelievable Inventions Created By Students by Feraz(op): 6:59pm On Sep 23, 2014*. Modified: 7:39pm On Sep 23, 2014 |
Now, mods, I don't know if this was placed in the appropriate section but if is not, please, help move it. Thank you! Notice that in all, it was done mostly by undergraduates (Universities and Polytechnics - for those of us who see polytechnics as institutions not fit for studying). I therefore ask, which way for Nigerian students?! When will the Federal govt., State govt. and Private institutions sponsor researches in our various universities, polytechnics and colleges of education? When are we the students supposed to make breakthroughs in our various fields if education isn't regarded by most in the ruling class? Hopefully, with the revival of the Ajaokuta steel company as seen here, Engineering students like myself and others will make and innovate some things worthwhile that suit our climate, not just Engineering students but others in various fields too. Enjoy!! 1. The Bike That Can’t Be Stolen
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/19/enhanced/webdr05/enhanced-2506-1410910303-9.jpg
Since bicycle theft is such a big problem in Chile, three students set out to change the statistics. They created a frame that “could be taken apart and used as a lock,” thus making it harder to steal. Expect it to be available for purchase “in less than two years.” Click here for more.
2. The Spidey Suit
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/19/enhanced/webdr08/enhanced-25026-1410910866-5.jpg
Engineering students at Utah State University created a superhero-like suit for those in the Air Force in 2012. They wanted soldiers to be able to reach the peak of a building “in less than a minute.” Thanks to their design, soldiers are able to scale a wall without ropes using a vacuum-like device. 3. The Nail Polish That Detects Drugs
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/19/enhanced/webdr07/enhanced-17023-1410910572-1.jpg
Recently, there’s been a lot of buzz about Undercover Colors, the nail polish that supposedly detects date rape drugs. The four students who created it claim “women who wear the polish can simply swirl their fingers in a drink to test it for any colorless, odorless compound that may have been slipped in.” They are still working to advance their product to a fully functioning stage. Ladies will love this. Click here for more.
4. The Disc That Purifies Water
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/19/enhanced/webdr11/enhanced-9015-1410910936-3.jpg
Undergrads at the University of Virginia had their work cut out for them when they started to create the MadiDrop — now called PureMadi — “a ceramic disc infused with silver.” Thanks to the magic of science, when the silver ions are discharged, the water becomes clean. It went into the field-testing stage in 2013. Click here for more.
5. The 30-Second Phone Charger
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/19/enhanced/webdr11/enhanced-8222-1410911789-18.jpg
Eesha Khare not only designed this accessory, but she actually built a prototype and showed off how great it worked at the California State Science Fair last year. Inspired by the perils of her dead cell phone, the young lady may have stumbled onto something even bigger — Intel says “Eesha’s invention has potential applications for car batteries.” Click here for more.
6. The Device That Identifies Concussions
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/20/enhanced/webdr10/enhanced-20182-1410912174-1.jpg
When they were attending MIT, Ben Harvatine and Seth Berg created “a wearable teach sensor clip that can detect and alert parents and coaches to concussions and potential serious head injuries.” A Kickstarter campaign was launched in August, hoping to bring the project to the public. We all know how helpful it would be. Click here for more.
7. The Automatic Cat Feeder
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/20/enhanced/webdr08/enhanced-25027-1410912266-27.jpg
Jonathan Geissler may be the answer to all traveling cat owners’ prayers. While studying at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, he invented a contraption “that dispenses wet cat food, one serving at a time, in scheduled intervals over a period of about a week.” The HealthPet Auto-Feeder is currently in a conceptual stage. Click here for more.
8. The Waterless Toilet
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/20/enhanced/webdr11/enhanced-8166-1410912421-1.jpg
While drawing toilets on her thesis instead of writing it, graduate student Liz Morris came up with the design for the Dungaroo. Every time it’s flushed, antimicrobial pellets are spread “over the waste, rendering it odorless and killing germs without using water or harsh chemicals.” Who wouldn’t want to use that at next summer’s music festivals? Click here for more.
9. The Gel That Stops Extreme Blood Loss
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/20/enhanced/webdr05/enhanced-2498-1410912637-15.jpg
Veti-Gel was created by Joe Landolina while in his junior year at NYU Polytechnic. The revolutionary goo “dramatically speeds the body’s natural clotting so that deep wounds, even those to arteries or internal organs, are able to close up within seconds.” It has potential to revolutionize the way we heal. Click here for more.
10. The Printed Makeup
https://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-09/16/20/enhanced/webdr07/enhanced-17068-1410912681-6.jpg
By now all we know 3D printing is a real, exciting thing, and what you can create with it is almost limitless. That’s where Grace Choi, a student at Harvard Business School, saw an opportunity. She created a product called Mink, an affordable printer that lets users take “any color that they come across online and print it out as an eye shadow, blush, or lip gloss using the same ink found in a home printer.” How awesome is that? Yeah awesome it is - for ladies. . . Click here for more.

priscaoge: That is why it is important to lay a solid foundation of truth for our kids so that they can always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks them a reason for the hope that is in them, with meekness and fear just as 1Peter 3:15 instructs! But my point is this,Children are easily brainwashed, they are easily influenced by their fellow kids and that might make them to deviate! Isn't that a risk? Of course, the foundation matters but a parent who isn't grounded in their belief is one who is going to be scared of the kids having such friends. This post below further days what I mean. . . Daresh: My then 12 year old cousin, lets call him Andy, from a very Christian home had a friend in school who was from an atheist home. Now in my aunt's home, there is bible reading every night, thanksgiving and discussions on the bible passages read. So Andy goes to school and his atheist friend says something about there being no god. The boy is not coming from a place of personal belief, just what he heard from his parents. Now Andy being well versed in his faith and well taught by his parents goes on to explain God's love to his unbelieving friend. Andy's parents invite him to their home, there is love of God. It doesn't change the boys beliefs yet, but a seed has been sown. Discrimination is what causes problems in our society. Discrimination based on skin color, religion, tribe, weight, sexual orientation, even height(another thread). But all these things are so secondary if you truly love God. Do you love God? If you do, you do as his word commands and love your neighbour. Even if they don't love him or believe in him. Love them and your love might just be what brings them to Christ. Well said! |

priscaoge: My dear what's d essence? Muslims,Christians et al are all proud of who they are,so y can't they do same? They only come to d internet to attack Christians and Muslims. Who is deceiving who? Atheists in this country won't have equal opportunities if they make their beliefs known so you can't blame them for not coming out with their beliefs. The only time you'll be listened to is if you've carved a niche for yourself. Though, these days, people are beginning to accept the fact that there are atheists. |

priscaoge: That's a risk. I can't let them brainwash my kids. With the rate Atheists are aggressively attacking Christianity,I can't let my kids play with their children. Secondly they can easily teach my children lies and turn them away from God! Refer to the bolded Feraz: Of course, there are atheists in this country. For the fact that some don't profess their beliefs due to stigmatization in job opportunities doesn't mean there aren't. I have lectures that are atheists.
I don't see any harm in them having friends that are atheists. Just make sure if you want your children to mature in their beliefs (not radicalized), then be prepared to answer whatever questions they'll throw at you. If you provide appropriate answers, then they won't have reasons to deviate from their beliefs; not trying to shun them or shouting at them for the questions thrown at you. At least, when you let them do so, it shows you're tolerant of others and it helps in making the world a better place. In addition, I don't think you can grow in your belief if you haven't questioned certain parts of your belief. When you question it, and answers are found, it helps you grow more and hold your belief strongly. |

messpero90: i pity ur children because uve given them free ticket to HELL. You're funny oh. What makes you think the child is getting free ticket to hell? You stay within the confines of your room and conclude. Tomorrow, you wonder why people hate your belief. Peter in the bible that stayed in a gentile's house, did he go to hell even when then, the intolerance was pretty much? Instead of you to spend your time teaching about Jesus' love, you threaten people with hell. |

TV/Movies › Re: Naruto Information by Feraz(m): 6:58pm On Sep 20, 2014 |
WackyJ1: Secondly I would like to make a differentiation between cells that aid in physical regeneration and then a supernatural fun jutsu.
The reason why someone can come here and tell us that kishimoto does ass pulling is because we that do not even believe in ass pulling cannot properly defend the logic behind many things we see.
The inability of a mangeykyo sharingan user to see clearly after some time due to over use of his MS is not a physical problem. It is as a result of the gradual supernatural sealing of the sharingan eye. Eventually the eye will turn white and useless if the person continues like that.
Except you want to tell me that Hashirama's cells possess the ability to stop a fuuinjutsu then I will tell you to prove that. Because so far all we have seen from hashirama's cells is that it gives you a certain level of regenerative ability and great stamina and boost in Chakra levels.
Another correction to be made here, , hashirama's cells was not what enabled Danzo activate shishui 's sharingan in the sense that you are thinking, it did not directly influence the sharingan, it simply gave Danzo the physical strength to be able to bear the drain that using such a powerful MS technique would put on him since he is not an Uchiha. And naturally once shisui's eye has been used, it will take a long time to be used again. Abi did itachi 's crow have hashirama's DNA?
Again, you cannot categorically tell. Me that the only way that someone with the ability to make his body intangible escaped from amaterasu is by shedding of the part of Hashirama's cells. You are also making the assumption that amaterasu only touched half of him cleanly without any single bit touching the other half.
When a sharingan is sealed, it is sealed, sealing is not physical, it is spiritual. Itachi used izanami as an edo tensei, why didn't his eyes regenerate back.
Madara lived most of his life with one eye eve while having hashirama's cells implanted in him until he was about to die and he awakened the rinnegan in both eyes. Why didn't hashirama's cells give him back his sealed sharingan.
Sealing and physical regeneration are two different things. Hashirama's cells have nothing to do with Obito not going blind from his extensive use of Kamui. You have a point though. Touché |

SIRcumalot: Can somebody please Explain more about this "Sharigan Sealing" this is the first time am hearing this one o Sharingan sealing is more of the eyes becoming useless after certain conditions which includes: 1. Using Uchiha fuinjutsus like izanami and izanagi. 2. Using your MS for a speculated period of time. The above are the only known cases of sharingan sealing. |
TV/Movies › Re: Naruto Information by Feraz(m): 6:42pm On Sep 20, 2014 |
WackyJ1: We Naruto Fans like to complicate things for ourselves
For the first time I am hearing that EMS is needed for someone to have a perfect susanoo. Hmm mm. Because we saw a sixteen year old boy go through the different stages of a susanoo transformation with no help from anyone that uses a susanoo it means that everyone must go through it too.
The highest I can say is that perfecting a susanoo requires time (for the inexperienced) and a very high level of motivation. For the Uchihas it is hatred. Hatred makes the ocular power grow stronger but over time it gets sealed. Like I said earlier the only difference between the MS and the EMS like the name implies is that that EMS never loses its light and then you have the powers of the person's whose eyes were transplanted into yours.
The fact that the two people who had perfect susanoo s lost their siblings before they could perfect it does not mean that you must have EMS to be able to perfect it.
Susanoo does not need EMS to manifest, it only needs the two eyes to be present in one skull. The perfect susanoo to me is just a better dressed version of the incomplete one, Hatred is what is stated by tobirama the man who has actually studied the Sharingan to increase ocular power. You can't blame them. Most took it as a fact cos the only people who ever had perfect susanoõ were seen with EMS till Kakashi. That's why I said this - Feraz: Haba! It's a well known fact that EMS is needed to have a perfect susanoõ until Kakashi/Obito broke that trend. If it wasn't needed, Itachi/Izuna would have had theirs for quite a while before going partially blind/dead.
Then again, you may be right because the perfect susanoõ of the Uchihas didn't come to be perfect due to the fact that they usually go blind after prolonged use of their MS so that may be one of the reasons why we attribute the perfect susanoõ to the EMS (since we know the eye can never go blind or lose its light no matter how long it is used). That may also be the reason why Kakashi was able to use the perfect susanoõ because he had a jinchuuriki's chakra to carry it and that jinchuuriki wasn't just a regular one; it was one that attained part of the power of the Sage himself (which to me looks like Obito can never go blind - an assumption on my part though). |

I like being free and happy. We're somewhat alike. I don't see the need having one. The painful thing is if you see the person you have a grudge against being happy, you become burnt as to why the person is when you are not. It hinders you from staying happy. |
