A team of engineers at the Abubakar Tafawa University (ATBU) Bauchi has invented automatic ventilators, disinfection chambers and software engineer apps for screening and treatment of coronavirus and Lassa fever in Bauchi and the country in general.

Vice-Chancellor of ATBU, Professor Muhammad Ahmad Abdulazeez, who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday at the ATBU Mechatronics Engineering Laboratory in Bauchi, said that as a hub for innovation, the institution felt the need to support the federal government through an innovative approach to control the scourge of the COVID-19, saying engineers at the University have invented prototype ventilator which is cost-effective for the treatment of coronavirus.

Police in Lagos State say they have Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley in their custody.

Funke Akindele And Husband JJC Sentenced To 14 Days Community Service, Fined N100,000 Each.

Famous Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, AbdulRasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz, have been sentenced to 14 days community service.

Funke Akindele and her husband were charged to court for violating restriction orders in Lagos.

On the 6th of April, 2020 at about 11am, Funke Akindele Bello and her husband Abdul Rasheed Bello were arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court 1 Ogba on one count charge.

They were brought to Court by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigation, DCP Yetunde Longe.

Nigeria has confirmed fourteen new cases of COVID-19, according to a statement by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Nine of the new cases were confirmed in Lagos State with five in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the NCDC said.

With this, Nigeria now has – as at 09:30pm, Sunday March 29th, 2020 – 111 confirmed cases of coronavirus, a tweet on the NCDC official Twitter handle, explained.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported eight new cases of coronavirus in the country, taking the total number of infections to 97.

According to the NCDC, two of the cases were in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, four in Oyo State, one in Kaduna State and one in Osun State.

Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai has tested positive for coronavirus.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate release of N15 billion to the Lagos State government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to tackle the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country.

The Bauchi State government has confirmed a second case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Aliyu Maigoro, announced this during a press briefing on Thursday in Bauchi.

According to him, the second case is a 62-year-old male and a close friend of the state governor, Bala Mohammed.

Maigoro explained that 48 samples were taken for test and two have been confirmed positive.

He added that 37 others returned negative while the results of nine samples were still pending.

The older brother to the Bauchi State Governor Adamu Mohammed Duguri has been kidnapped.

ASUU Strike: Nigerian govt reaches agreement with lecturers on IPPIS
The Nigerian government has reached an interim agreement with striking university lecturers to integrate the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The IPPIS is the government’s accountability software that has been made compulsory for all public institutions, mainly for personnel payroll.

ASUU is opposed to the use of IPPIS for lecturers saying it does not consider some of the peculiar operations of universities. The lecturers’ union then developed its own UTAS which it wants the government to adopt for universities.
