My experience: I saw the job opening on Jiji and I applied, i checked through their website everything look genuine. On Monday I got an invitation for interview slated for Tuesday morning 9am, I prepared, and made everything needed available, I got to the address at around 7am. just to cut the story short at 9 am we were all call inside and order us to put off all our phone not to even put it on silent, and the interview begin we did both written and oral went through all kind of screening at the end of the day they end up asking us to pay training fee of 7,000 I wasted my whole day I wasted more than 1,600 naira for transport the address is No 65 opebi road Ikeja the building is directly opposite glass house 6th floor of the building note all of them are well packaged ladies.

And you paid the money ?

Yeah Jiji, the shopping site

I have been searching for a job online for a while now. A friend of mine recently sent me a link to the site (Jiji) and I registered and created a profile account in which I put all my preferences for the job I was looking for.

After a while, I got a message on WhatsApp (From a Akamo Abdulrafui Oladipupo) about an Ushering Job available and they told me I had to pay N6,500 for registration. My guts told me not to believe, but because of the long term frustration of staying at home, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt.

However, I got instantly blocked after I paid the money. Although it was something I saw coming, I couldn't help it but to be incredibly pissed after it had happened.

I'm not writing for condolence or sympathy from anyone. I'm just trying to give a heads up to the Nigerian Masses! Anyone that tells you to pay for a job or any other thing prior to any tangible or visible proof IS A LIAR!

Good day NL..I attended one today at 32 olufemi road at ogunlana and another interview was still sent to me today at 98 beside Methodist Church holding on monday, I can't believe I wasted my money and time from ph to lagos just to listen to all these people talking about GNLD and I.T networking, they have deviced new means of using e-mail to unsuspecting job seekers to fall prey, pls don't bother to go if you received text message with assessment and ending with code no which they also put their numbers or application been reviewed are all the work of all these networkers. You will end up paying 16500 with their sugar coated mouths as registration. Pls discard and delete those messages cos they are not legit especially that jiji own..

JIJI nothing to do with your problem ! Just turn on your brains from time to time !

Two significant but fear-inducing events in the Nigerian e-commerce space in the last two weeks:
1. Zinox and or Yudala acquires the struggling Konga
2. Nasper's OLX closes its office in Nigeria



I have often asked the question ... How does OLX make money? If you know, please tell me. Can't figure it out.

I can easily outline factors that made Konga lose money ....

1. Pay on Delivery (POD): When buyers refuse to pay for  a shipped item because they do not like it, konga absorbs the expenses already made on logistics. That is far more than their margin of 3%.

2. Ruthless merchants: Buy once from them, they will request politely that you buy direct and split the Konga commission with them. That is unethical, but Nigerians don't give a damn. Call them all joint murderers.

3. High logistic costs. I wish NIPOST was existent and efficient and handles the last mile for e-commerce in Nigeria. They are setup to do it, someone just does not think it is development to do it, like yesterday.

4. Heavy advertising budget that carries coal to new castle and basically does not lead to any further conversion. The Social media Konga intelligent adverts always show me what I have bought again!

5. Some bad staff, who did not understand where their salary was coming from, and that they will end up soonest in the job market. They had enough muscle to wreck the train.

6. Poor payment processing. Not their fault, but the poor network intolerant interswitch payment capture system guarantees that you will not want to pay with your card again, after the first disastrous encounter shopping online. I hear Paystack is a charm, but it came just too late to save Konga.

7. Consumers who trust nobody. Until they see the goods, it does not exist, hence show them no picture but the goods!

Will Zinox stop the continued loss of vital blood in Konga? Time will tell.

All eyes are now on Jiji and Jumia. Please guys, stay the course! Something will give way soon, that will rejuvenate the industry.

try and ask people who got new laptops where they got it, or try and Google where SLOT office is in ibadan, they sell quality stuff there. If what i wrote is not currently feasible it is safer and convenient to buy from konga or jumia
