COMMUNIQUÉ ARISING FROM THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS AT THE EXCO CHAMBERS, GOVERNMENT HOUSE, ENUGU, ON FRIDAY, 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2017

In view of the prevailing security situation in the South East and its attendant consequences, the South East Governors hereby resolve as follows:

1. All activities of IPOB are hereby proscribed. IPOB and all other aggrieved groups are advised to articulate their position on all National issues and submit to the Committee of Governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and National Assembly Members from the South East Zone, through the Chairman, South East Governors Forum.

2. All Governors of South East Zone are to ensure compliance in their respective State.



3. South East Governors Forum, Ohaneze Ndigbo and National Assembly Members do hereby reinforce their commitment to a united and indivisible Nigeria.

4. We also reinforce our desire for the restructuring of Nigeria where all National issues will be discussed and amicably settled to achieve justice and fairness to every Nigerian.

5. We reiterate our earlier position that the November 18, 2017 Governorship election in Anambra State must hold.

6. Accordingly, we appeal to Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR to please, withdraw the Military in the South East Zone, while Police perform their traditional role of maintaining law and order.

7. South East Governors have taken concrete steps to protect lives and property of indigenes and non-indigenes in the South East.

8. We are in touch with the Northern Governors Forum, they have assured us of the safety of all our people living in the north and we have also planned for exchange of visits between the Governors and to re-enforce the confidence of Nigerians in this respect.

9. In keeping with our earlier position, we wish to assure Nigerians that full investigation is ongoing on all allegations of killings, maiming and other unlawful conduct in the South East Zone within this period. The Governors and the Security agencies are in agreement that appropriate action will be taken against anyone found culpable.

10. We advise all residents of the South East to go about their normal businesses as Government of each State is committed to protecting everyboby.

11. Finally, we advise our people in the South East to please be Law abiding.

Two suspected car thieves were caught by a spell put on the car they reportedly tried to steal.

Residents of Mombasa, Kenya, woke up to behold a spectacle put up by the suspected thieves.

Two suspected car thieves were caught by a charm placed on the car they reportedly tried to steal.

The two men stripped naked and began bathing in a pool of mud. They danced around and on top of the vehicle in their unclothedness. One of the men had a snake wrapped around his neck as though it was a scarf.

One of the men caught by the “juju” (Charm) had a snake wrapped around his neck as though it was a scarf.

After brief moments of the show, they were taken away by police who also reportedly went out in search of the owner of the vehicle to break the spell.

Police have apprehended a Pastor for allegedly killing a of a year and three months for money ritual in Calabar, Cross River State Capital.

The pastor whose church is located along Okon Edak off Atamunu street was reportedly taken away by the police, and his church destroyed by angry mob.

According to eyewitness; “The Police arrested and interrogated the guy this morning over the missing baby boy and the guy led them to the pastor he sold him to.”

“The pastor got arrested in connection with the allegations and was taken to his church where fresh blood was found spilt around, along with things of different sort; including photographs of men and women, women’s lingerie and other under-wears as well as other devilish things”.

Former Super Eageles and AC Milian defender, Taye Taiwo has joined Swedish club side AFC Eskilstuna.

The Nigerian defender sealed a permanent move to the Allsvenskan on a Bosman after terminating his contract with Swiss Lausanne in early July.

The 32-year-old, who has previously played for French giants Olympique Marseille as well as Italian powerhouse Inter Milan is expected to team-up with African compatriot Emmanuel Frimpong at the club.

“We get a really good and experienced left back that will mean great for us. Not only on the plan, but also in the locker room. We are very happy that he is here, says sports director Azad Budak to the club’s website.


Taiwo added: “I am very happy to be here. Have been training hard before I came here, so I’m in good shape, says the Nigerian who made his first training session with AFC on Wednesday.

The powerful defender has represented Nigeria 54 times and is available for the clash against AIK this weekend.

An unknown person broke into Immaculate Conception Cathedral Lokoja, Kogi State on Friday last week, 4th August and stole the Blessed Sacrament from the Adoration Chapel.

Catholic Priests in the Diocese took to the street to demonstrate their displeasure with prayers and also ask God for forgiveness.

According to Fr. Ariko Pius “An unknown person stole the Blessed Sacrament from the Cathedral. Solemn procession in Lokoja streets with prayers of mercy and forgiveness from God.”

The traditional ruler of Otukpa, the headquarters of Ogbadibo LGA of Benue, Chief Sir Sunday Ekele Jp has banned intending groom in the community from spending more than N100, 000 on traditional wedding.

According to Chief Ekele, the decision became imperative following complaints from young men in the community that outrageous bride price has been discouraging them from getting married.
Speaking on a live programme monitored on Joy FM, Otukpo last month, the monarch said any one found flaunting the new law would be penalized.

“Money should not prevent anyone from getting married in our community. From now onward, no one should spend more than hundred thousand naira before he gets a wife in our community. We need to encourage the young men so they won’t be scared of going into marriage,” he said.

Recall that the Chairman, Tiv Area Traditional Council led by the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Ochivirigh, Prof.
James Ayatse had recently set up a 15 member committee to do something about the high bride price and expensive burial requirements for burial rites in Tiv land.

The committee, which has three months to submit its report, is headed by His Royal Highness, Chief Jam Gbinde Ter Ikyor, and had been directed to investigate the reasons for the high bride price and recommend ways of addressing the challenge.

There was heavy fire outbreak at Nigerian Port Authority in Port Harcourt in the early hour of Friday morning.

It could have been a black Friday for Nigerian Port Authority if not for the quick intervention of the Fire fighters and security men around, the whole Port would have burnt to dust.

The disastrous incident affected two ships, one containing Loyalty Salt and other fuel. One of the vessels affected is Divine Mercy.

The true cause of the fire outbreak is not yet known at time of this report.

“On August 5th 2017, l was washing my Hummer for a great program in Sapele, Delta state, Nigeria. After the program as l was on my way returning home on 8th August 2017, l started noticing serious smoke coming out of the dashboard and bonnet.”
