Weeks after getting married for the fourth time to Olori Mariam Anako, a Queen from Ebira in Kogi state, and also getting Olori Elizabeth Opeoluwa Ogunwusi nee Akinmuda betrothed to him in Magodo, Lagos, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi will be taking two more wives this October.

The Ooni of Ife will be marrying Tobi Phillips and Ashley Adegoke before his 48th birthday this month.

Tobi Phillips is a graduate of Marine Science from the University of Lagos and a former Beauty Queen. It was initially speculated that she would be replacing Olori Zainab Wuraola who walked away from her marriage to the Osun monarch.

The Ooni eventually married Prophetess Silekunola Naomi, but the marriage ended in December 2021.

Queen Ashley on the other hand, is a chartered accountant and currently runs an NGO that caters to less privileged kids and widows through the Ashley Adegoke Foundation.

She has a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the University of Greenwich, and currently runs her businesses in the United Kingdom.

It has been reported that Queen Ashley who is from the Lafogido royal house, allegedly has a child with another man. Her late father, Jacob Adebiyi Adegoke was a Prince of the source.

Prior to his coronation, the Ooni was previously married to Adebukola Bombata in 2008 but the marriage failed.

After being coronated, Ooni married Edo-born Zainab-Otiti Obanor in 2016 but the union lasted for 17 months before their separation.

Ooni then married Silekunola in 2018 and the marriage produced a son before the divorce announcement in December.

An American tourist has been arrested for smashing up two ancient Roman sculptures after being told he couldn’t see Pope Francis at the Vatican.

The man in his 50s went on a rampage when he was visiting the Vatican Museums on Wednesday afternoon, October 5.

After being told he couldn’t meet the pope, the man allegedly hurled himself into one of the ancient sculptures in the museums’ Chiaramonti hall — knocking the sculpture off its pedestal, local newspaper Il Messaggero reported.

Museum security tried to grab him but as he made efforts to flee, he knocked down another sculpture.

Staff managed to restrain the man until Vatican police arrived minutes later to arrest him.

"The busts were affixed to shelves with a nail but if you pull them down with force, they will come off," Matteo Alessandrini, a spokesman for the Vatican Museums, told CNN.

"One lost part of a nose and an ear, the head of the other came off the pedestal," Alessandrini said.

The shattered pieces have already been taken to the restoration lab in the museums for repair.

The world's oldest working supermodel, Carmen Dell'Orefice, 91, has appeared nearly nude for the upcoming issue of New You magazine.

The fashion icon first appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine at just 16, and now, she has proven that age is just a number with her latest project.

Carmen stripped down, covering her assets with a blanket while stunning in a new shoot for New You's October issue.

She is to grace the cover alongside 69-year-old fashion star Beverly Johnson, who previously made history as the first African-American model to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1974.

Another shot showed Carmen laying in a bed in only a tan pair of undies, holding a white duvet up to her chest.

As for how she stays youthful, the 91-year-old told the outlet that she makes sure to give herself the same 'love' and 'care' that she gives her daughter.

'Men and women should care for themselves and love themselves. One of the secrets to maintaining beauty is doing what you do for a baby,' she explained.

'[You] nurture and feed babies with love. That's what we should do with ourselves: nurture ourselves, love ourselves, and give that kind of energy to ourselves.'

Carmen was born in New York City on June 3, 1931. She became a model at the young age of 13 after she was approached by the wife of photographer Herman Landschoff while on a public bus.

By the time she was 15, she had signed a contract with Vogue for $7.50 an hour.

'[Photographer] Irving Penn told me to try to breathe as little as possible and don't move,' she recalled of her first Vogue shoot. 'Just sit there. Irving was a really good friend to me.'

Over the years, she also posed for Vanity Fair and Harper's Bazaar; she was signed by Ford Modeling Agency in 1953 - but retired from modeling in 1959.

After almost 20 years out of the spotlight, Carmen later returned to the fashion industry in 1978, and since then, she has remain in the spotlight.

She has starred in campaigns for big brands like Target, Rolex, Sephora, and H&M, and has walked the runway for companies like Anna Sui, Stéphane Rolland, Thierry Mugler and Guo Pei.

A Chinese vase worth €1,500-€2,000 (around $1,470-$1,960) at auction has sold for more than €9 million ($8.8 million) after a bidding war between collectors, according to a report by CNN.

The blue-and-white Tianqiuping vase was sold at the Osenat auction house in Fontainebleau, near Paris, France on Saturday, October 1, and achieved a final price of €9.121 million including fees, according to the Osenat company website.

The vase has a spherical body and a long cylindrical neck. It measures 21 x 16 inches and is decorated with dragons and clouds, according to the company's listing. Tianqiuping vases are also known as "celestial sphere" vases because of their shape.

Jean-Pierre Osenat, president Osenat auction house said that the vase's owner, who lives abroad, asked the auctioneer to sell it as part of a consignment of items taken from their late grandmother's house in Brittany, northwestern France.

"It's going to completely change their life," said Osenat to CNN on Tuesday

"It's hard for them to come to terms with."

The grandmother was a keen art collector and had owned the vase for 30 years, he said, adding that there were early signs of huge interest in the vase when dozens of people came to examine it during a pre-auction exhibition.

Around 300-400 people expressed an interest in bidding, before it was pruned to 30, all of whom had to pay a deposit to take part.

There were 15 telephone bidders and 15 present at the auction house, with 10 still bidding when the price passed the €5 million mark, Osenat said.

"It's incredible," he said, adding that his highest previous sale price came in 2007, when a sword used by Napoleon at the Battle of Marengo in 1800 fetched $6.4 million.

Collectors believed it was a very rare example of an 18th-century Tianqiuping vase despite bidding professionals at first thinking it was a 20th century art and not worth bidding for.

"I have faith in the hammer, which is to say that I think the law of supply and demand determines the market price," he said. "The view of an expert can't outweigh that of 300 people."

Sometimes in auctions you might see two or three people who mistakenly believe an item is far more valuable than an expert has said, but not 300, Osenat said.

"I think the market has spoken," he said, adding that he now believes the vase dates from the 18th century.

The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, have mourned a popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abdulganiyu Nuraini and his two aides who died in the flooding that ravaged the state.

The cleric popularly called Alfa Gani Aboto, his aides, Alfa Azeez Omoekun and Alfa Nurudeen, were coming from da’awah activity in Minna, Niger State, when the flood swept away his Toyota Yaris car while trying to cross a bridge near Harmony Estate/Kukende at the Akerebiata area of Ilorin.

The bodies of the victims were recovered by the state fire service from a river opposite Olusola Saraki Abattoir along Sobi Army Barracks road, Ilorin inside the car on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

The late sheik was a student of late Sheikh Kamaldeen Al-Adabiy, the first Mufti of Ilorin and founder of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria. He was also a hafeedh and leading trainer of Quran memorisers in the state.

His corpse was transported to his hometown in Aboto, Asa LGA of the state on Sunday after a janazah in Ilorin.

The state governor in a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, his Chief Press Secretary, described as shocking and sad the death of the prominent Muslim preacher and his aides.

"We received with shock and sadness the deaths of the popular Islamic cleric Sheikh Aboto and a few others whose identities are not yet known. As faithful, we accept the judgment of our creator. We beseech Him to grant the scholar and others involved al-Jannah Firdaus,” the Governor said in a statement.

“This, indeed, is one sad news too many. The death of Sheikh Abdulganiy Aboto is a huge loss for the Muslim community and to Ilorin as a whole. He was known for his vast knowledge and great efforts in the propagation of Islamic messages in the simplest form possible for his audience.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the families of the late Sheikh and the others, and the entire Adabiyyah family worldwide. It is our prayer that Allah will grant comfort to all the bereaved families,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari expressed sadness over the death of Sheikh Abdulganiy Aboto.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari described Shiekh Aboto’s demise as unfortunate and regrettable stressing that his death has left another vacuum in the dawah activities in the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.

The Emir, in his condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, said news of the scholar’s death together with his companions came to him as a rude shock considering the unfortunate incidence of heavy downpour which destroyed the popular bridge linking Kulende and Akerebiata areas. He said;

“During his lifetimes, late Sheikh Aboto touched so many lives through his public lectures along Taiwo road during the month of Ramadan as well as other locations and communities across Nigeria and Africa continent by extension."

The Emir extended his condolence to the entire Adabiyyah family worldwide, families, associates, natives of the Aboto community in the Asa local government area of the state as well as sympathisers over the death of a pious and highly intellectual scholar.

In his message, the former President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, said that the demise of Sheikh Abdulganiy Nuraini Aboto Al-Adabby, popularly called Alfa Gani Aboto would create an unfilled gap among the Muslim ummah across the state.

Saraki in a press statement signed by his Press Officer on Home Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, described the death of the popular preacher as a great loss to the Muslim Ummah and Ilorin Emirate community in particular.

"The death of Sheikh Aboto, and two others in an auto crash as a result of a heavy downpour in the early hours on Friday, is a great loss to Islam and Ilorin Emirate.

"Sheikh Aboto was a prominent Islamic scholar, preacher and spiritual leader in his own right. He was committed to the development of Islam in the Emirate and beyond. Many will not forget his soft style of preaching and teaching about how to live as a true Muslim.

"The demise of an Islamic Scholar is usually a sad occurrence and this particular one has created a big vacuum that will be very difficult to fill in many years to come. We, however, must take consolation in the fact that the late Sheikh lived a fulfilled, exemplary and pious life worthy of emulation. He will be remembered for this and many other legacies he left behind.

“May Almighty Allah comfort his immediate family, forgive his shortcomings and grant him a place among the righteous ones in Aljanah Firdaus,” Saraki stated.
