A man known as "The Man of the Hole," and the 'World's loneliest man' has died in Brazil after avoiding contact with humans for nearly 30 years.
The unnamed man is reportedly the last known surviving member of an Amazon tribe in Brazil.
Brazil’s National Indian Foundation, FUNAI, announced the tribesman’s passing.
“(FUNAI) informs, with immense regret, the death of the indigenous known as ‘Tanaru Indian’ or ‘Hole Indian,’ who lived in voluntary isolation and was monitored and protected by Funai through the Ethnoenvironmental Protection Front. Guaporé, in the state of Rondônia, about 26 years ago. The indigenous man was the only survivor of his community, of unknown ethnicity.” the agency said in a press release.
FUNAI reported that the man’s body was found in his hammock inside a hut last Tuesday by officials tasked with monitoring the remote Tanaru Indigenous Territory in Rondônia state in the western Brazilian Amazon, where he had been living in “voluntary isolation.”
The man, is believed to have been about 60 years old.
He was dubbed "The Man of the Hole"because of his habit of digging large, deep holes to trap animals and hide.
There were no signs of violence or struggle, and it appears he died of natural causes.
Brazil’s Federal Police will perform an autopsy on the man’s body and produce a report on the findings.
According to the non-profit organization Survival International, the “Man of the Hole” was the only inhabitant of Tanaru territory, which it described as “as a small island of forest in a sea of vast cattle ranches.”
The organization said that the rest of the tribe had been massacred in a series of attacks allegedly perpetrated by land-hungry cattle ranchers since the 1970s, with the last six members being exterminated in 1995.
"The Man of the Hole" -- was last seen on video in 2018 hacking at a tree with an ax-like tool.
Monitors had not encountered him again after that time, but they came across his straw huts and deep holes bristling with spikes that he dug to trap animals, or hide from outsiders.
Evidence at the scene suggested that the lone tribesman survived by planting corn and papaya.
“No outsider knew this man’s name, or even very much about his tribe – and with his death the genocide of his people is complete,” stated Fiona Watson, Survival International’s director of research and advocacy.
“For this was indeed a genocide – the deliberate wiping out of an entire people by cattle ranchers hungry for land and wealth.
“We can only imagine what horrors he had witnessed in his life, and the loneliness of his existence after the rest of his tribe were killed, but he determinedly resisted all attempts at contact, and made clear he just wanted to be left alone,” she said.
There are about 240 indigenous tribes in Brazil, with many under threat as illegal miners, loggers and farmers encroach onto their territory, warns Survival International, a pressure group fighting for the rights of indigenous people.
Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine's girlfriend, Rachel Wattley a.k.a Jade was arrested on Sunday night, August 28, after a fight in Miami.
TMZ reported that she was arrested on a battery charge related to domestic violence and is being held on $1,500 bail at Miami-Dade County Jail. The publication also reported that the rapper has been trying to bail her out.
Though it is unclear what happened, a footage shared online showed Tekashi facing off with Jade and a group of women on the streets, outside a club. At one point, one of the ladies apparently tried to swing on the rapper.
Tekashi subsequently retreated to a luxury ride as people encircled him, and it was gathered that was when cops finally showed up to break up the scene and find out what was happening.
Tekashi and Jade also reportedly engaged in a verbal argument while being escorted outside. When cops asked the rapper what happened, he apparently told them Jade had hit him. They also revealed they saw marks on him.
Eyewitnesses also told officers that Jade had struck 69 while inside and even grabbed at his chain. Although cops said they saw Tekashi with visible injuries on his face, they also said that in the end, he didn't want to cooperate with them whatsoever.
Still, they had enough to arrest Jade cops. Cops said the fight was caught on tape from surveillance video inside and there are also other evidence.
Speaking to TMZ, Tekashi said Jade who has been his girlfriend for 4 years, attacked him for some reason and he believes her friends were swaying her.
He also said he thinks she was drunk. Tekashi adds, "I’m gonna get her out jail -- she attacked me in front of the police I told them, 'You have to evaluate her she’s obviously under the influence I don’t plan to press charges ... I’m the one trying to bail her out."
The rapper added that her friends who were with her left her hanging, and that he's been left to deal with the aftermath, including getting her out of jail.

An 11 year old boy Kevin Sweeney has achieved a higher IQ score than two of the world’s most famous geniuses, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
Sweeney, who has autism, has ‘always been really clever’ according to his parents. He knew the periodic table at the age of six and could read before he had even started primary school.
Being a fan of quizzes and game shows, Kevin took the Mensa IQ test at the Quaker Meeting House in Edinburgh, and scored 162.
Stephen Hawking has an IQ of 160 and, although Albert Einstein never officially took an IQ test, scientists believe his to be the same.
Kevin has now been invited to join Mensa the world’s oldest high IQ society.
His dad Eddie Sweeney, 40, told how Kevin had been the only child taking the test that day.
Eddie said: ‘We thought he might get overwhelmed being with all adults, but he was just chatting away to everyone saying: “Hi, I’m Kevin.”
‘It’s amazing. We are so proud and Kevin is over the moon. Kevin was running round the garden when he got the results.
‘It meant a lot more to him than we imagined it would. We hope this is a great boost for him.
‘Life has its challenges for Kevin, and we really want to help maximise his potential and give him every opportunity in life.
‘We always told people he’s a genius, and I don’t use that word lightly.’
Eddie and mum Laura, 39, said Kevin is able to answer all the questions on The Chase, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire and Only Connect
Eddie said: ‘(Kevin) got the £250,000 question correct even before the options came up.
‘When another show asked about the cost of a bus fare in Harry Potter, he was adamant the answer they gave was wrong.
‘He went upstairs, found the right page in the right book within seconds and proved he was right – the film version had used a different price.’
But the parents say Kevin’s biggest passion is music as he sings and plays the chanter, piano and guitar.
2023: Kwankwaso opens up on stepping down for Tinubu, Atiku
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the 2023 election, has said that he would not forego his presidential ambition for anyone, including the presidential flagbearers of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and that of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, insisted that his party, the NNPP, is popular across Nigeria, and “we are sure of victory at the polls”.
“I’m not in any way part of an alliance that will require me to step down from the race. I therefore call on the public to disregard this mischievous conjecture.
“I also specifically appeal to the media to uphold the tenets of their profession by being fair in their reportage,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle on Saturday.
Footballer beat his ex to death with a hammer weeks after she reported him for stalking
An Italian footballer allegedly clubbed his ex-girlfriend to death with a hammer and a baseball bat weeks after she reported him for stalking.
Giovanni Padovani - a model and former youth payer at Napoli - has played as a centre back for ten clubs in Italy's Serie C and Serie D leagues.
Earlier in August he signed for fourth tier Sancataldese, based in Sicily.
But last weekend he was absent from the opening clash of the Italian Cup, against local rivals Catania.
Giovanni Padovani, 27, allegedly left his team on the eve of a cup tie and flew to Bologna to lie in wait for his older lover Alessandra Matteuzzi, 56.
As she arrived home he then ambushed her in the lobby of her apartment building, police said.
She was on the phone with her sister Stefania who heard her agonizing screams as she was being attacked.
The sister told a local TV station: "She got out of her car and started screaming, 'No Giovanni, no, I beg you, help.'
"I was on the phone. I immediately called the Carabinieri who arrived straight away.
"I live 30km away. In the end he beat her to death."
Alessandra and her younger lover had been a couple for around a year, according to reports in Italy.
However they spent most of their time apart as she lived in Bologna and he played his football in Sicily.
In January there was a bust-up at her home when he smashed dishes and a light bulb, her sister claimed.
After they split he allegedly bombarded her with messages and calls at all hours.
On previous occasions he had sabotaged her car, disconnected her meter from the outside, and tried to climb up to her balcony, residents said before she reported him to police for stalking, according to police allegations.
One neighbour told local Sicily media: "She was very afraid of him because he had become persistent and she didn't want to let him in the house".
Another neighbour said Sandra had asked her not to open the door if Padovani rang the buzzer to get into the building.
On Friday, August 26, Italian Justice minister Marta Cartabia sent inspectors to review the actions of Bologna cops following Alessandra's complaint.
Bologna Chief Prosecutor Giuseppe Amato denied accusations of judicial negligence in the case, reports news agency Ansa.
He said a probe was immediately launched after the complaint was registered on August 1, but the investigation could not conclude until next week because witnesses were on holiday.
"We did what we could," he said, adding the stalking report did not highlight "situations of a concrete risk of violence, it was just the typical conduct of bothersome stalking".
Sancataldese club lawyer Salvatore Pirrello said Padovani had left the team's training retreat last Saturday saying he had personal problems.
He phoned the club asking to rejoin the team on Monday but was told to stay away, reports Corriere della Sera.
He then flew to Bologna in northern Italy, where he allegedly ambushed his ex on Tuesday this week.
After Alessandra died in hospital of massive head injuries, Padovani was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder and is being held in custody.
