The heartbreak is real. From Owode Onirin, to Alaba Rago, to Oworonsoki, to Trade Fair Complex, etc the demolition cut across all, not a particular sect or tribe. However, each demolition would affect a particular group than others. The Alaba Rago market demolition affected northerners more, while Trade Fair affected easterners more, likewise other demolished centers. Something is seriously wrong with this social media content creator called Peter Obi! Is the man okay at all? People died in Benue, and both the Federal and State Governments are trying to find solutions, and this Agbotikuyo is complaining about the type of clothes the President wore to Benue? Really?

Imagine him saying "The President arrived not in mourning cloth but in celebratory agbada attire, like it was an occasion for joy."

Is Peter Obi aware that President Tinubu is a Muslim and that in Islam, it is not Sunnah to wear black when anyone dies?

That is why I and others have repeatedly said Peter Obi lacks the broad-mindedness to be Nigeria's President. The fellow is too selfish to think beyond his narrow political, cultural, and religious beliefs.

He wants everyone in Nigeria to conform to his own low cultural values, irrespective of their own religious background.

That was why, in 2022, his campaign donated so-called prayer mats to mosques with his images on them.

Mr. Obi does not attempt to understand Islam, even when Islam is the dominant religion in Northern Nigeria and parts of the Southwest.

And even in Christianity, there is no requirement to wear black to funerals. There is no such doctrine or culture in Scripture.

The wearing of Black is purely a European cultural practice that has been blindly adopted by people whose cultures are not well defined to the extent that they need another culture to plug gaps in their own ways of life.

For Peter Obi's education, it is haram in Islam to wear black to events such as burials, funerals, and memorials for the dead. The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalaam) is that the dead are to be buried in white clothes.

A hadith of the prophet (SAW) and narrated by Ibn Abbas states, "Wear white clothes, for they are the best of your clothes, and shroud your dead in them."

It is sad that Mr. Obi is so wrapped up in his narrow self-interest that he makes zero attempt to understand other cultures that have existed in the geographical location now known as Nigeria for a thousand years.

Mr. Obi's insensitivity to Nigeria’s cultural diversity, along with his tribalistic focus on only his Igbo kith and kin, makes him unsuited for the highest office in the land.

My counsel to Peter Obi is this: If you like wearing Black mourning clothes everywhere, due to your love for bad news and negativity, do not expect others to be like you.

You are a Roman Catholic, which is a minority faith in Nigeria. While Nigeria has freedom of religion, if you, Peter Obi, expect the rest of us to behave like you and observe your cultural and religious practices, then you had better focus on becoming the Governor of Anambra, where you had previously spent two terms of eight years causing religious division between Catholics and Anglicans.

Finally, I urge the Muslim Ummah to remember that this is a man who was caught on a leaked audio threatening "religious war" against them. And this latest criticism shows he is dead serious about that threat!

The leader of the United Kingdom Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has again taken a dig at Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, in her recent interview, saying she is a Yoruba and has nothing in common with the northern part of the country.

This is as the spokesman for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, asked those criticising Badenoch, to embark on a moment of introspection.
Vice President Shettima, recently, slammed her for denigrating Nigeria in her recent interviews with British media, especially her views on immigration and corruption by the Nigerian public officials, and urged her to drop her Nigerian name.

While her spokesperson has responded to the criticism from Shettima, Badenoch sparked fresh identity controversy while speaking with British media, The Spectator, recently.
According to her, Northern Nigeria is a haven for Islamism and Boko Haram. She expressed dismay at how she’s being identified as Nigerian, noting that she identifies less with the country.
She said, “I find it interesting that everybody defines me as being Nigerian. I identify less with the country than with the specific ethnicity (Yoruba).”
“I have nothing in common with the people from the north of the country, the Boko Haram where Islamism is.
“Being Yoruba is my true identity, and I refuse to be lumped with northern people of Nigeria, who ‘were our ethnic enemies,’ all in the name of being called a Nigerian.”
Continuing, Badenoch recalled how her surname was linked to a warrior and protector of the crown, adding that she was ready to die protecting the country (United Kingdom).
“Somebody once told me when I was very young that my surname was a name for people who were warriors. They protected the crown, and that’s what I see myself as doing.
“I am here to protect, and I will die protecting this country because I know what’s out there,” she added.

Meanwhile, Shaibu, the spokesman for the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 election, Atiku, asked those criticising Badenoch, to embark on a moment of introspection.
Specifically, Shaibu urged Vice President Shettima to find something useful to do rather than concentrating on Badenoch.
In a post on his X page yesterday, Shaibu asked the vice president to find something useful to do with his time instead of berating Badenoch.
He wrote: “Those criticising @KemiBadenoch should pause for a moment of introspection. The mere fact that her name is Kemi or that she has Yoruba roots does not automatically render her Nigerian.
“After all, Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus @gabrieljesus9 is not the son of God. @officialSKSM should find something useful to do with his time.”

The supreme court has warned Nigerians and legal practitioners against “media trial” on matters before the courts.

Inyang Okoro, a justice of the supreme court, issued the warning while delivering the lead judgment on appeals seeking to overturn the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, and Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), had appealed the judgment of the tribunal at the apex court.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, Okoro condemned the trend of litigants holding press conferences, “analysing the case and reaching a conclusion”

He added that this has led to “some of their followers sending threatening messages to judges and justices”.

The justice warned that litigants must desist from media trial, adding that “a word is enough for the wise”.

“Litigants are advised to trust the court whenever their matters are before it,” Okoro said.

“It is very unbecoming these days that while a matter is pending in court, litigants engage in press conferences, analysing the case and reaching a conclusion.

“Based on these, some of their followers send threatening messages to judges and justices. Matters in court are said to be subjudice, and parties and their counsels must refrain from media trial and judgment.

“Need not say more on this, and a word is enough for the wise. This issue has nothing positive to offer the appellants.”

Meanwhile, the supreme court dismissed Abubakar and Obi’s appeals and upheld the February 25 election of Tinubu.

Olisa Agbakoba, former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), says no African leader has spoken for the continent the way President Bola Tinubu did at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Tinubu had on Wednesday addressed world leaders at the 78th session of UNGA, during which he said unfair treatment and foreign exploitation have stunted Africa’s progress.

In a post on the X platform, Agbakoba said the speech was a “well-received statement” with which the president asserted that “Africans are not beggars but equal partners”.

“A well-received statement at UNGA!,” Agbakoba wrote.

“Never in the history of UNGA has an African President spoken for the entire African continent, asserting that we are not beggars but equal partners with the geopolitical blocs of the world.

“Not since Kwame Nkrumah and his vision for a pan-African agenda for development has any African leader delivered a speech on behalf of the 54 nations of Africa.”

He added that Africa would have itself to blame if it failed to act on Tinubu’s significant policy speech.

“Let all of us in Africa rally our collective energies and declare to the world that we are awake and not beggars but partners,” Agbakoba said.

A US court has dismissed a suit filed by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar requesting President Bola Tinubu’s academic records from the Chicago State University, The Nation has learnt.

The Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois County, United States of America, dismissed the lawsuit.

President Tinubu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Chicago State University.

In January 2023, Beverly Poindexter, the staff in charge of transcript requests, enrolment and degree verification, confirmed that the President attended the university between 1977 and 1979.

According to the recent judgment by Circuit Court dated July 31, and seen by The Nation on Sunday, Judge Patrick J. Heneghan dismissed the case without prejudice.

In the judgment, the judge held that the “petitioner’s subpoena in this case is withdrawn and thus Chicago State University will not be deposed pursuant to the subpoena in this case.”

Justice Heneghan said the case was dismissed without prejudice and resolves all matters pending before the court.

Ronaldo was good but Modric was exceptional. it's not everytime you win a golden ball at the WC, it's not everyone who has the privilege of playing in the final of a WC( a luxury Ronaldo doesn't have).

17/18 season, the WC was the biggest of events. A player performance there was the season definer. Ronaldo did well there but Modric did better

I agree with your assertion except that of similarity. They are both similar because the Presidents of the federation felt threatened by the actions or inactions of these individuals. Salami was removed because of Osun State gubernatorial election tribunal while Onnoghen was about to inaugurate the election tribunal members for the upcoming elections. The common denominator here is election and politics as emphasized by the OP.

I maintain my earlier stance that there is undue interference in the judicial processes by the executive which our constitution frown against. Its not about the contents of the allegations against these judicial officers but the process of addressing the infractions is totally unacceptable and unconstitutional.
