@katsumoto
"Anyone who has read this thread will agree with me that I have taken the pains to articulate my argument carefully".

I actually agreed with you as I have equally taken the pain of reading all the contributions so far and I am concluding that it is rather too late for pro-SLA to rewrite the history now. They have argued out of the reality on ground and have spoken as if they are not in touch with the feelings of the core yorubas.

Every facts so far puts Awo as a hero and his people almost worship him as if he is a god. Let us leave the case alone and put an end to this debate. The lenghth and breath of yorubaland sings Awos praise and Akintola would have been a hero along with him but he betrayed not just his boss, but the party and the entire yoruba race.

Let his family(Akintola) continue to strive in futility to rewrite the history, as it is already too late, while Awo's family continues to live in the glory of their late legend, and need not to polish his image because, Awo himself did that long before he died.
PoliticsRe: Samuel Ladoke Akintola by firebrand: 1:41pm On Aug 04, 2010
I actually appreciate all the contributions so far on this topic and I must confess that they are very educative and informative on the past leaders of yoruba race.
The various quotes have confirmed why Awo has always been described as a sage, and trully he was a sage. Akintola was a great man of valour, but he missed it the moment he jettison the yoruba project which is been pursued by AG under the leadership of Awolowo, and did the unthinkable at that time of our history by alligning with the northern forces, thereby sacrificing the good reputation and image he help built with Awo.

I am very sure that if same Akintola would have the 2nd chance to act his part/sript again, he would not fall cheaply to the greek gift from the north. I love them both, but I will give it Awolowo.

Oduduwa, the legend, was said to be the father of the yorubas, but I think in my own estimation, Awolowo is the father of the modern day yorubas.
PoliticsRe: IBB's Rally Flops In Ibadan, Ex-dictator Fails To Show Up‎ by firebrand: 11:56am On Aug 02, 2010
I have always pray for IBB and will continue to pray for him. My prayer for him is that he will win the PDP or any other ticket, wins the final presidential election and while in the celebration mood, another drama would unfold itself. The election/victory declared cancelled for one reason or the other and he(IBB) protests/reacts to the annulment through uncivilised manner, and security agents arrest him for utterances that is threatening to democracy, and suddenly a breaking news from CNN announciing his sudden death in police custody.

Let him reap from he sow. Then he will appreciate in grave the magnitude of June 12.
RomanceRe: U Have Ond Degree And A Woman U Want 2 Marry Is A Graduate Is Adviceable by firebrand: 2:52pm On Jul 29, 2010
At times it matters and at times it doesnt. But examine yourself if you are articulate enough to marry a graduate or not. A man should be able to intelligently contribute to general issues as it relates to the family and should earn the respect of the wife for his superior reasons on argument.

Aside this, an intelligent ND holder can marry a graduate, and there is no reason why you should not disclose your true status to a woman you intend to marry before your marriage.
Note that there is nothing like OND degree or HND degree.
Christianity EtcRe: Islam:d Only True Religion, D Bitter Truth. by firebrand: 2:42pm On Jul 14, 2010
@fuadudeen, Islam does not preach wat many people ascribe to it(violence, killing, terror).

Good talk, it only inject it into the blood!
RomanceRe: Please Advise Me by firebrand: 4:37pm On Jul 12, 2010
The entire problem is yourself! How can a profess believer suddenly realised that the way forward is to marry a non-believer in this kind of situation.
I am also really worried about your claim that your parents are devouted xtians because tribe shouldnt have been an issue on who to marry or not. The only barrier is when the partner is of opposite religion as it is now.
My candid advice for you is that you humble yourself before God and consecrate your life the more, and persevere in prayer and God will surely send your own partner to you.
Marriage is more than emotion or passion you have for someone. Dont ever surrender your crown to an infidel, he will throw it to the dog and in a short while the second wife will follow because he is brainwashed to marry as many as possible.
Put your trust in GOD and HE will never dissapoint you.

PoliticsRe: Wife-Beating Oba Vs Kingmakers, Human Rights Groups by firebrand: 12:29pm On Jun 04, 2010
The kingmakers may come out with another abracadabra, because this is Africa where everything is tradition, and the kingmakers have to consult the oracle for the way forward.

My expectation from the oracle; THE KING MUST DANCE NAKED. That would pacify the gods of the land.
Christianity EtcRe: Are Christians And Moslems Worshipping The Same God? by firebrand: 1:45pm On Jun 03, 2010
There is a clear difference btw the God of the Holy bible and Quran, definitely not the same God. But a reader or listener to the teachings of these books will note some similarities in content, yet they are distinctively different. While the god of the quran does not allow the name (Allah) to be translated to another language in usage esp during prayers, the god of the bible permits the believer to to translate it to the local language of the user.

The God of the bible claimed to be the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob(Israel) and is the creator of every visible and invisible things. The God of the quran claims the prophets of the bible (with exceptions).

One is full of mercy and forgiving and the other is opposite. One hate shedding blood of the innocent while the other does not. One peaceful and the other violent. The list goes on and on. They cannot be the same God
Christianity EtcRe: RCCG Pastors Have Started Implementing The Dress Code? by firebrand: 12:47pm On Jun 03, 2010
@dallasbeau,
I love your contribution to this tread but  I am afraid you are still one of the so called born-again xtian that find it so difficult to draw a clear line between belial and Christ.
Christ would not have dressed adorning himself with gold, and even encourage the women fold to dress loosely as we have them today.

The word of God must not be preached in part but in whole. The word of God forbids wearing of jewels, and so it is now left for me and you  to be the doer of the word and not hearer only. This does not bring bondage to the believer but liberty in the things of God.
RomanceRe: My Boyfriend Tells Me Of His Past Girlfriends by firebrand: 2:52pm On Jun 02, 2010
Though you claimed not to be jealous in the course of the discussion but are you ever worried that this your man can suddenly ask you to tell him of your past. Are you pepared to let him know of your past as well, bearing in mind men's attitude towards their partner's past. Dont ever think he will sit down and enjoy your stories of your past boy friends, for that will scattered the relationship, and if you fail to say your own part on request, he will definitely be dissappointed.

My candid advice for you is to look for a way to discourage him from telling you more of his past and focus on what the future have for both of you.
PoliticsRe: I Want Abiola Immortalised, Says Babangida by firebrand: 12:59pm On Jun 01, 2010
IBB's game plan this time around is very cheap. He is called 'evil genius' but it seems the 'genius' in the  'evil genius' has dissapeared and the EVIL alone is easily detected by Nigerians. The strategy is to use same Abiola to pacify the populace but the more he talk the more people got irritated by his logic.

Let him go and enjoy the looted fund and  forget the presidency again for live.

PoliticsRe: Why Can't Lagos And Ogun States Be Merged? by firebrand: 12:28pm On Jun 01, 2010
If these states cannot be divided further, then let the status quo remain and no need for merging.

As for Ikorodu being Ijebu is simply to admit that the Remos are ijebus. If the Remos have their own identity and are distinct from Ijebus, then Ikorodu people are not Ijebu but Remo. To me there is no clear difference btw the local dialect of people of Sagamu(Remo) and the Ikorodu people while there is a clear difference in dialect btw the Ijebus and Ikorodus.

FamilyRe: Two Women Married To One Man by firebrand: 11:01am On May 21, 2010
I always imagine how many men can accept to share a woman with another man to the extent that three of them will live under the same roof as a woman with 2 husbands. There can never be any genuine love btw a man and his 2 or more wives and the wives CAN NEVER love themselves sincerely.

This is the main reason why most polygamous families dont xperience love and peace. The few exceptions are where the women decided to tolerate and accomodate one another, because in love, POSSESSION is the key word. The husband wants to claim the ownership of the wife and vice versa. This is proper but excessive of it is dangerous.

Lets discourage our men from polygamy, at least for the sake of peace for themselves and their family after their demise.
FamilyWhy Do We Have More Widows Than Widowers? by firebrand(op): 11:04am On May 13, 2010
There seems to be more widows than widowers in virtually all communities around the globe. What is worrisome is that women tends to live longer than there men counterpart. I know that men used to live longer than women in those old Bible days. But the trends has changed now. What could be reason. Is there any spiritual attachement to this or modernisation is taking its toll on men by reducing there livespan. Lets have your own reason or disagreement.

Christianity EtcRe: Born Again Christian Women Wearing Make-up, Is It Biblical? by firebrand: 4:50pm On Dec 15, 2009
I think the problem is not the word of God but our total disregard for the word of God. The old things are passed away as amplified in the bible are not really passed away in many professed born again christians. Romans 12;1 states that "I beseech you brethren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto the Lord, which is your reasonable service".

Because we are addicted to wearing all these worldly materials, we are now striving with God, and modifying God`s word to suit our desire. Imagine this, God told Abraham to circumcise every male child of his, and never ask him to perforate the female child`s ear. It was not error of ommission from God to have left the female fold out it, but man says it was a mistake from God and now decided to put holes on the females` ear. 1 Tim. 2;9 is very emphatic about it,", not broided hair, or gold, or pearls or costly array".

Therefore, "whoever have ears let him hear what the spirit is saying to the church"
Christianity EtcRe: The Bible Says The Earth Is Flat While Quran Says Its Spherical, Wow by firebrand: 2:08pm On Dec 15, 2009
It is unfortunate that these fanatics that claims to know God more than others would go to the extent of looking for loopholes in other peoples religion so as to glorify & justify their own religion & stance on same. One of the evidence of inferiority complex is to be much concern about a perceived opponent & feel threatened most of the time. This comparasm was based on religious ego, but thank God reasons has prevailed!

Truly, viao has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that the earth described in the bible is not flat, and even gone further to make nonsense of quranic verses to the dismay of the self acclaimed arabic scholar.
