Unfulfilled Campaign Promises: Youths raze Senator Gaya’s residence, destroy Rep’s farmhouse
Kano—IRATE youths yesterday set ablaze the residence of Senator Kabiru Gaya, and destroyed the farmhouse of his counterpart at the House of Representatives, Alhaji Mahamud, in Gaya Local Government area of Kano State, over alleged unfulfilled electoral promises. Sen. GayaSen. Gaya Senator Ibrahim Gaya represents Kano South in Senate while Alhaji Mahamud, a former Commissioner of Finance represents Gaya Federal Constituency in House of Representatives. Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that angry protesters had a field day after they successfully blocked the major highways that linked the ancient city to Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, and Maiduguri. According to the witnesses, the youths were protesting the alleged failure of the two politicians to fulfill the promises they made to them during the electioneering campaigns in 2015.
One of the eyewitnesses, Isa Maja said the protest was organised to the worsening economic plight of the residents. Maja said “youth unemployment is on the rise here, the infrastructural development exists in the past, no water, and we have these wealthy individuals from this town as Representatives. They promised during their campaign to fix these age-long problems, and barely a year on nothing convincing seems to be oozing out of their end.”Maja said there was an intervention by concerned Elders of the town, but added that “we could not trust them due to their affinity to these politicians. We feel we should take on our destiny and forced these people to do the needful. This is a warning shot, and I believed there would a change of style from our selfish politicians.” It was gathered that security agents had initially dispersed the protesters, who later regrouped and burnt the senator’s house before heading to the campaign office and poultry farm of the House of Representatives member. According to source, the youths also attempted to burn the residence of the Chairman, Gaya local government but were overpowered by the security personnel. Reports said the police had restored normalcy, while emergency check point had been mounted to sustain their dominance. Confirming the incident, the police Image Maker in Kano, ASP Magaji Musa Majia said that “we have restored normalcy, and I intend to furnish the press with details soon.” Cc: Lalasticlala http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/irate-youths-raze-senator-gayas-residence-destroy-reps-farmhouse/

Madness of this government is increasing on a daily basis. - Where is your own locally manufactured tyre plants? - What are you doing to regulate the quality of imported tyres with manipulated expiry date? - Agreed, tyre has a specified expiry date, I am also aware their are shelf-life extension for all products with DOE, what mechanism do we have to check the quality vs shelf life extension. Having a valid expiry date does not guarantee safety, and continuous usage. ** From my personal experience, I travelled from Ilorin to Lagos with my 4 Brand New tyres, getting to Ibadan I had to replace two tyres as a result of sudden deformation, (Mind you with toks), getting to Sagamu, I replaced another one, getting to Mowe, the driving was no longer conducive again as the 4th one was also giving way. I managed that to my house in Otta. Meaning I changed 4 new tyres purchase less than 3 months valued (18k x 4 = 72k) in a single trip. So, you mean FRSC along the road can arrest my vehicle Jokers! Nigeria needs deliverance. |
