Politics › Re: Fani Kayode Reportedly Sneaks Into Tinubu’s House At Midnight To Beg For Mercy by Firefire(m): 2:15am On Mar 08, 2015
Horllamideh:
[s]While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) other
members were probably sleeping or engaging in
meetings aimed at curtailing the rising profile of the
opposition candidate of the All Progressive Congress
(APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, one of their top men
was romancing them.
Our source revealed that the loquacious director of
media and publicity of the President Goodluck Jonathan
campaign, Fani Kayode was sighted sneaking into Bola
Tinubu’s mansion in Bourdillion, Ikoyi, Lagos State last
night.
According to a source, Fani-Kayode was at Tinubu’s
house to apologize for the video where the opposition
leader is currently being maligned on the new private
mouth piece of PDP, the Africa Independent Television
(AIT).
The source revealed that he pleaded with Tinubu not go
ahead with the court case and claim billions as he was
merely doing his job.
Abusidiqu had also been reliably informed that Fani-
Kayode had told one of the media managers of the APC
presidential campaign when they met at a programme a
few days ago that he should be forgiven for his role in
the PDP campaign. He reportedly told the top APC
chieftain that despite what seems to be personal attack
on the APC and its principal officers, he was only doing
so to justify his appointment.
During the short visit to Tinubu’s residence, he was
noted to have acknowledged that his party may lose the
election to APC but he had no choice but to sell the
president using propaganda tools. He promised to talk
to the presidency to stop the airing of the defamatory
video.
Our source however refused to tell this newspaper what
Tinubu replied him[/s].

If you dedicate some judges/courts to terrorism cases then they are effectively a special court. There is no real need to label them as such.
But we are yet to hear of any name(s) or court being dedicated yet.

The war against terrorism is a collective fight, all the three organs of government must be fully involved.

This is yet to be achieved in Nigeria.

[s]This picture went viral last week and i noticed most people didn't condemn governor Fayose's action but rather hailed him as a grassroot man.

Will Fayose be glad to see his son hawking instead of been in school?

Ekiti people are known to be intelligent, sociable and well read but unfortunately they have a governor who encourages child abuse by patronising a child hawking as displayed by the picture.

The police killed the founder of Boko Haram after capturing him. They brought him out and shot him dead. After that happened, Shekau took over the leadership of the sect and turned it into a full-blown terrorist organization. That unjust execution gave them the moral high ground.
Even if the human being has been escaping the long arm of the law, extra judicial killing of Yusuf is condemnable.

But his followers have no moral right to result to killing, maiming and involving in barbaric acts. That is simply an act of terrorism & must be condemned by all.

Seun:
That's no excuse for murdering suspects some of whom may be innocent or may have been coerced. The president can easily fast-track court cases that he considers to be important, by setting up special courts that are well-funded to prosecute the terrorism cases more efficiently.
I agree with you 100% government do not have any justification to kill or take laws into their hands. (We do not have such incidence)
Thinking in the right direction, as you suggested, the government should look in the direction of setting up a special courts that will be well-funded to prosecute cases of terrorism outside our normal, snail speed courts.

You will recall that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan gave the same directive to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alooma Mukhtar as of 17th July 2012.

What went wrong? We should ask Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alooma Mukhtar

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday advised the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alooma Mukhtar to confront the challenges ahead as the foremost judicial officer in the country.

He said, “I am confident that you will quickly settle down to work and commence the urgent task of reforming and repositioning the judiciary for effective and efficient discharge of constitutional mandate.

“Your Lordship will preside over the judiciary at a time of profound challenges that demand united response. We believe that judiciary can play a crucial role as we confront critical challenges.

“We are dealing with security challenges occasioned by sporadic act of terrorism in some parts of the country. The three arms of government must work co-operatively to overcome these terrorists’ threats and acts in the country.

“The war against corruption is another endeavour that calls for concerted action by all arms of government. I am confident that the judiciary under your able leadership will rise up to the challenge and provide the most needed support for government to address these challenges.

“I believe that an independent judiciary remains the final hope of our citizen.” - Dr. Goodluck Jonathan - 2012

see the Chief Justice response:

But speaking with State House correspondents shortly after the ceremony, Mukhtar ruled out the possibility of establishing special courts to try cases of terrorism.

“I talked about that at the Senate that there is no need for a special court. A judge, two or three in the states can be designated to take care of that (trial of terrorism cases),” she said

Is it also necessary to regularly execute unarmed suspects without trial? Funny enough, it was this very act that radicalised Boko Haram.
Jungle justice is condemned in all ramification, Nigeria is known for lengthen court cases and unending trials: A Case study of 'Reverend Kings'

the conspiracy that radicalized Boko-Haram through that your mentioned theory, is still a mystery.

At the moment we don't have any documented case(s) of human rights violations proved beyond doubt, it still remain an allegation.

kmariko:
Why Nigeria cancelled US military training – FG

on December 05, 2014 / in News 12:46 am

By Caleb Ayansina

ABUJA—The Federal Government, yesterday, gave reason for the cancellation of the training of Nigerian soldiers by American security experts, attributing it to logistic problem.

The U.S. Government, through its Embassy in Abuja on Monday said in a statement that “At the request of the Nigerian government, the United States will discontinue its training of a Nigerian Army battalion.”

But Nigerian government explained that it did not cancel the training, but that the condition placed down by US government was not healthy for the security of lives and property of its citizens, particularly those in the north east region.

The conditions, according to it, include withdrawing of some military equipment from the battle field, so that the American could use them to train the soldiers.

The Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, who stated this during a routine briefing on security situation in the country, in Abuja, said the government would not expose its citizens at the mercy of insurgents because it wants to train its solders.

However, Omeri maintained that the two countries were not at variance as being insinuated by some people in the country. “Nigeria and America have strong military relation till date. It’s still ongoing and strong,” he said, disclosing that Nigerian soldiers had concluded two phases of the training out of the three.

Omeri explained that the third phase had to do with logistical components which the Americas did not provide but instead relied on Nigerian Military equipments, which was currently in use in the troubled states.

The U.S. says, don't execute people on mere suspicion without proper trial. Don't punish the innocent along with the guilty. If you do this we will provide you with assistance and advanced weapons that will make it easy for you to defeat the Bokos. Sounds like a good deal to me.
collateral damage is inevitable in a war in our terrain, U.S demand of withdrawing the weapons engaged in the battle filed for Military training would be a sabotage to the on-going war.

Americans should tell us their game plan.

Nigeria is at war, war with terrorist and terrorism.

Accusation of Human Rights Abuse is common during war including American war in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

casualty of war can never be ruled out during war.

Nigeria could not be an exemption.

Bottom line: Our own war is self-inflicted, politically motivated and painfully a war within her own territory.
