I have been expecting this for a long time now. I mean, this guy practically was playing politics with the life of people. I wouldn't know if it's due to selfish interest or pressure. Still, he didn't do well as expected of him.

I for one, support this resignation call. He's not fit for the position, at least not with the recent happenings.

Pele has named Lionel Messi as the world's most complete player right now and would have loved to play with him.

The former Santos and Brazil superstar named Messi as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar as the three players he thinks are the elite.


But he confesses that his favourite of the trio is Argentina legend Messi.


Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport per SportStar, the 79-year-old said:

"I think of Leo Messi.
"He is a skilled player, gives assists, passes, scores, dribbles well.


"If we were in the team together, the opponents should worry about two players, not just one!

"Today, Messi is the most complete player."

But the former New York Cosmos man lamented the number of world class players in the modern era in his eyes.


"Once, you found two or three in every country with a great football culture.

"Eusebio, (Antonio) Simoes, (Johan) Cruyff, (Franz) Beckenbauer, (Diego) Maradona, Garrincha, Didi. How many did I say? There were so many."

"Today we have two or three in all. Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, I would say Neymar, who in Brazil has not yet managed to become a great figure."

It could be considered harsh from the three time World Cup winner as young stars such as Kylian Mbappe have burst onto the world stage recently.


"What is missing? Not much. Maybe his heading game, the impulse and the jump. That's what makes us different again because I had a lot of momentum. I was going very high and I scored a lot of headed goals."
Pele has always been a fan of fellow countryman Neymar but the PSG star has had parts of his career marred by controversy over the last few years.

Pele is hoping the 28-year-old can put it all behind him and lead Brazil to World Cup glory in Qatar two years from now.


"I hope that at the next World Cup he is in good physical condition." Pele said.

"People criticise him, I even did it a few times, but we forget that he is a product of ours, of Santos.

"We always want the best for him. I talk about him often with his father.

"Technically, he is an excellent player."

But it won't come as a shock that he would have loved to play with Messi.

Those two in the same team would strike fear into every defence to ever play.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Babagana Kingibe Chief of Staff following the death of Abba Kyari who on Friday and the was buried in Abuja on Saturday.
Abba Kyari tested positive to coronavirus on his return from Germany and subsequently died of the infection in Lagos.
Kingibe has been acting as Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari since Kyari left the Presidency for treatment.

Baba Gana Kingibe GCON (born 25 June 1945) is a Nigerian politician, diplomat and government official who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1995, Minister of Internal Affairs from 1995 to 1997, Minister of Power and Steel from 1997 to 1998; and Secretary to the Government of the Federation from 2007 to 2008.

•POLITICAL CAREER•

Kingibe entered politics in the build up to the transition of the Third Nigerian Republic. In 1988, he was made director of organization of the People's Front of Nigeria which consisted of politicians such as Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, Abdullahi Aliyu Sumaila and Rabiu Kwankwaso, which was then led by Shehu Musa Yar'Adua.

The front later joined with the Social Democratic Party in 1989. During the conduct of elections for national executive positions in the party, Kingibe was sponsored by the People's Front faction of SDP as the party's chairman, a position he went on to clinch. As party chairman, Kingibe was involved in the organization of party's gubernatorial and presidential primaries in 1991 and 1992 respectively.

•1993 presidential election•
However, after the cancellations of presidential elections in 1992 in which Shehu Yar'Adua was a candidate, Kingibe put himself forward as a presidential candidate. He made a split from his initial camp, the PFN group and used his relationships with SDP state party chairmen to build his campaign. He lost the keenly contested primary conducted in Jos but after much prodding from SDP governors, he was selected by the primary winner, MKO Abiola as Vice-presidential running mate, creating a Muslim-Muslim ticket which was initially thought to be a deal breaker in the general elections. The pair won the electoral majority although the result was annulled by abdicating president General Ibrahim Babangida.

•Abacha administration•
Kingibe later joined the Abacha administration as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1995, Minister of Internal Affairs from 1995 to 1997, and Minister of Power and Steel from 1997 to 1998.

•Secretary to the Government•
In June 2007, he was appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation. He was unceremoniously removed from office on September 8, 2008 by the President Umaru Yar'Adua, after spreading rumors about the President's ill-health while believed to be contending for the presidency.

•Buhari administration•
Kingibe has been a powerful behind the scenes decision-maker in the Buhari administration, alongside chief of staff Abba Kyari.

Will his time as chief of staff to the President be a love hate relationship with Nigerians like his predecessor? Let's wait and see.
