We won numerous league titles and a champions title before Messi came into the picture all thanks to Cruyff and his philosophy. We also won another champions league before Messi became the man main. All that was possible because of the philosophy Cruyff laid down. Without Messi we probably would have a different player there not as good but he would fit within our philosophy and we still win trophy's, not as much as now but we will still be a top club. All you have to do is look at the success of Spain.
Brother, Cryuff:s philosophy was great. It won us trophies no fount but trust me, Messi made the difference. Spain did greatly adapting to that style but it really didn't last. Check out how far they gave faired since winning the Euros. They have always been the need to have some sort of outstanding player(s) to get the job done. Iniesta was Spain's talisman then. But when he started declining and couldn't penetrate upfront as much as he did in the past, they started declining.

The same can be said about Guardiola's style and implementation in Bayern and Man City(early days). There really wasn't an exceptional olayer to get it done even while they held more possession.

Arsene whenger adopted the same but he really couldn't conquer the global stage.

Same goes for Real Madrid Lopetugi.. He implemented the style well enough but there was no exception to it.

Forgive me, I don't mean to be rude to Cryuff's philosophy but I just need to be plain as it should be. Messi made it quite a big deal than he, the implementer. Even Guardiola did it better at Barcleona

So because you lost an erection whilst at shuffle with your girlfriend, you concluded that it really doesn't happen. FGS, who conducts research with ONLY his personal experience?

For you bother investigating if other men experience the dame thing?

Did you bother to know if struggling with a female gender actually puts other men off?

Yes, you are right when you send not all rape claims are true but subsidizing it to a mere 10% is outrageously ridiculous.

Here you go again with the excuse of not being able to remember what happened many years ago... Gush.. A rape expereince isn't one anybody can suddenly get selective amnesia about. All you need is a simple strike and it will come crashing down on the victim again. And yes, no time is too late to report a rape case. The victim might not have the voice then, but does so at the time when he/she reports it. It's a situational thing.

We were not dominant away from home with Prime Messi Xavi and Iniesta in the Champions league. 2015 Prime MSN team had arguably the greatest European Football run in a single season. At one point, we won 12 out of 13 home and AWAY big games in 2015. Atletico x 5, RM x 2, PSG X 2, City x 2, Bayern, Juve. I don't think we had that sort of results dominance even in 2011 or 2009.
Correct.

I didn't say best player or greatest I said most important.
The "most important person" in Barcelonas history to me is Cruyff. Every time. Without Cruyff, we don't have our philosophy. We don't have possession-based football. We don't have the Golden Generation. There is *literally* no La Masia without Cruyff.

Cruyff's contribution to the club is unrivaled in history.
Cruff's philosophy was not really effective until Messi came into the picture( at least not in the global European stage, - UCL and the likes). Cruff's might have brought in the philosophy but Messi was the major instigator and the very one that threw it into major limelight.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not downplaying his contribution but I'm only saying Messi has been the major click to making sure that the philosophy was a bomb. Xavi and Iniesta were also a major contribution too.

You can as well consider other team's that have upheld that kind of philosophy and check out their achievement, without Messi.

So yes, Messi is a more important player to Barcelona's history than Cyruff.

Call me old school but Laudrup was a beast. He is our own version of Zidane. As awesome as Iniesta I will pick laud.
I know Laudrup. Of course, I do respect him as a worthy competitor, but trust me, I'll pick Iniesta anytime. Man, this guy was a beast. He was just partially unlucky to have played with other great players ( in the name of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and the likes).

Iniesta had in the past single-handedly won games for Barcelona than Laudrup, not only that. The former was more of a possesive, playmaker and even scorer than Laudrup.

Truth is, I'll practically say Iniesta was a refined version of Zidane than Laudrup would be.

That's the key word.

Are we talking Messi the player versus Cryuff the player?

Most important player in our history is Messi hands down.

However most important person/figure might be Cryuff based on his career and philosophy as coach.
You are right. But then, I'll still prefer to refer to Messi as more important. Cyruff ideology didn't win us much silverware until Messi came into the picture. He might not be a coach, yet but I do think he's one heck of personality, that Barcelona and the world in genresl would not forget in a hurry.

"I played with Cristiano and he's really amazing, but I'll go with Messi,"

Kaka responded when asked who he would pick out of the two during an Instagram LIVE Q&A for FIFA's channel.

"He's a genius, a pure talent.

"The way he plays is incredible."

However, Kaka made sure to praise the Portuguese forward.

"Cristiano is a machine," he stated.

"It's not just the way he's strong, powerful and fast; he's strong mentally.

"He always wants to win and play. To be the best.

"For me, that's the most incredible thing he has.

"In the history of sport, they [Messi and Cristiano] are definitely in the top five.

"We are very lucky to have been able to see both of them."
Cr7 fanboys will be like;

Trash.. Kaka was South American. South Americans don't support Europe..

Na so. Madrid had Juve by balls during the match. The score was 3 - 1 when Cuadrado got a red card at the 83rd minute. Stop acting like Cuadrado is one superman that could overturn that 3 - 1 lead, no sensible person will buy that.

What does this have to do with our discussion? Let's not digress, Barcelona and the ref HEAVILY cheated teams of their rightful victories to win the 2009 and 2011 ucl trophies. Chelsea was cheated in 2009; Chelsea would have won if the ref played fair. In 2011, Arsenal was cheated when Robin Van Persie got an unfair red card early after he was causing problems for Barça's defence. Arsenal was leading 2-1 in the first leg. The 2011 semifinal at Bernabeu was all theatrics and referee assistance.

It's very easy to lie to yourself, and I won't stop you from lying to yourself. grin grin

Lol. I care to tell any reasonable person that listens that Ronaldo is just a lucky chap when it comes to country-level.

He's not better than Messi, not one bit when it comes to Country level.

Forget the goals, any goal poacher would score as many goals as possible against the likes of Latvia, Lithuania and the likes. Not against S. American teams ( Uruguay and Chile shown Portugal the exit door twice) where you have to struggle through your teeth to win.

That said, the two international trophies Ronaldo won, he was more or less a figurehead to complete the numbers aside from the match against Hungary. Trust me, Portugal would have progressed past the Semifinals with or without Ronaldo coming into the picture. That tells you how much the team is disciplined and dedicated to winning, unlike the Argentines. I can point out MORE occasions where Messi stood up far ahead than others while playing in Country shirt, much more than Ronaldo. But like I said earlier, the latter is just fortunate to be in a team that really wants to win.

The game was already done and dusted for Real Madrid. Without the red card given to Cuadrado, Madrid would still have won. In Barça's case against Chelsea, Chelsea would have beaten you black and blue had the referee been fair. Btw, the referee didn't assist Madrid throughout the tournament. Even if the Ref and Madrid cheated to deny Madrid's opponents that season, it still wouldn't mean Barça deserved the 2009 ucl trophy.

There is no evidence that Sergio Ramos did such on purpose. We can only speculate and assume.

This is rubbish!

Did the ref assist Madrid against Wolfsburg? Did the ref deny 4 obvious penalties to Wolfsburg? Did the ref give Ronaldo any penalty?

Of course, nothing is perfect in football, but it doesn't mean there can be blatant robbery and assistance from referees. The robbery against Chelsea in 2009 supersedes unfair plays like diving and time wasting.
You should stop debating football, or better still not talk about FCB at all.

You spoke utter nonsense by saying the game against Juve in the final was done and dusted. Shows you don't know how much one player can influence a game. Yes, Cuadrado was one of Juve's that season.

Why then did Ramos fake the facade that sent him off and not Ramos getting booked instead?

Or you need me to remind you how much a yellow card can weaken a defense, especially when it's Ramos?

Talking about the FCB and Chelsea stuff, it's obvious you've chosen to believe your "truth" when it's obvious that both match legs were filled with poor refereeing decisions that could have caused FCB from progressing.

But no, you won't see those. So long as it doesn't justify your motive for debating, it's a no-hitter.

••• Barcelona didn't deserve the 2011 ucl trophy. They cheated Real Madrid CF in the semifinal at Santiago Bernabeu with their theatrics and referee's assistance.

The only one they deserved is the 2015 ucl trophy.
But when Sergio Ramos "obediently" sent Cuardado off in the UCL finals against Juve with an acclaimed push which never happened, they were worthy winners then.

When Sergio Ramos "expertly" sent off Mo. Salah off against Liverpool in the UCL final, it was well worth it.

Come back to that Chelsea's Match before your Semi-Final brouhaha, the Ref had on several occasions overlooked a lot of possible warnings and sending offs even against the BLUES but as expected, you'll only see the ones that Barcelona committed.

Those times when Ronaldo was a ruthless diver even when it was obvious he had no business playing on the floor, ( Wolfsburg's 2016 in the UCL amongst others) it was well worth it, right??

I'll tell you, football games are more or less a love and war game. And as you know, nothing is fair in such games. Whoever encounters such luck are just the fortunate ones and so, you don't have any justification to mention Barcelona's or even affirm that they are not worthy winners, else you'll be shooting yourself in the leg.
