Politics / How To Prepare Yourself For Elective Position In Nigeria Especially In ENUGU by FirstLadyNaija(f): 5:14pm On Oct 23, 2017
How to Prepare yourself for Elective Position in Nigeria especially in ENUGU STATE
1. Pay your Tax and have your Yearly Tax Clearance Certificate. Short corner is to Pay 115,000 Naira to Revenue Office if you don't pay tax or Unemployed to be cleared.
2. Register in the Ward that you want to become Active Politician and be Voted For.
Do NOT Register in a ward that you won't be Allowed to contest. E.g Do not Register in Ikeja ward then Expect to contest for Election in Nsukka. Capital NO! You must COME to Nsukka LGA and find your Village ward.
This is the reason I always Advice people to go to their village and Register.
3. During INEC Display of registered Voters after CVR, Make SURE your Name is there.
4. Collect your PVC and Keep in your Secret Safe Box. DO NOT move around with it because INEC will NEVER Replace it. Though you will fill Incident Form if your card gets missing but forget getting a New One.
So I Advice you make Coloured Photocopy of your PVC and Laminate it then go around with the photocopied one.
5. Register with a good Political Party but DO NOT Jump from one party to another. If your party is doing anything wrong, go to their HQ and meet Party Chairman.
6. If you do not have money for Nomination Form, Look for a Sponsor that believes in you.

Why Every 18+ Nigerian woman should take Folic Acid everyday by Lydia Okolie

If you're capable of reproducing, I am talking to you—even if you're not planning to get pregnant.

If you ever wish to be a mother, healthy Lifestyle should be very important to you.
Most Nigerian women do not bother about having a daily balanced diet.

Most of us consume more of Carbohydrate food everyday without even watching our weight.
We also forget to fast sometimes to enable complete metabolism in our system except you have a management health that requires daily intake of drugs.

Most women don't think about the nutrients that are most important during pregnancy until getting pregnant is on their radar.

All women who are even capable of getting pregnant should be taking one thing: folic acid.

Folate, aka folic acid, is a Vitamin B that is essential for normal growth of the brain and spine in a developing fetus. But what's the point in taking it if you’re not even thinking about having a baby?
The answer is simple: because 27 percent of all pregnancies in Nigeria are unplanned. Birth defects of the brain and spine happen in the very early stages of pregnancy (the first few weeks), often before a woman knows she’s pregnant.

All women who can get pregnant should be taking folic acid, not just if you're thinking about it. If you're already supplementing, you'll have one less thing to worry about if you're surprised with a positive pregnancy test.

Folate can be found in many fruits and vegetables (especially leafy greens), as well as beans, nuts and enriched grain products. It's called "folic acid" in its synthetic form in vitamins and supplements.
Chances are you're not getting enough from the foods you eat, even if they're fortified, because our bodies can use folic acid more efficiently than folate.

If you're not too keen on popping a multivitamin every day, you can just take singular folic acid supplements. There are also chewable and liquid options on the market.

If a woman takes folic acid every day before and during pregnancy, it reduces the risk for neural tube defects, a birth defect of the brain or spine. Approximately 1 in every 1,000 pregnancies is affected by one. Taking 0.4 milligrams per day of folic acid can help prevent up to 70 percent of these birth defects. (Depending on your health and family history, especially if there's spina bifida in the family, your doctor may recommend supplementing with a higher amount, so make sure to clue him or her in before adding a new pill to your daily routine.)

Though this is the most pressing reason, other studies have shown that folate may have other benefits when taken during pregnancy—a recent study funded by the National Institutes of Health found that it may help reduce a child's future obesity risk.

All told, those are pretty good reasons to take folic acid if getting pregnant is even a remote possibility. Plus, your body needs it anyway, to make new cells. So, win-win.
If you’re already pregnant or trying but aren’t taking folate: Better late than never. The vitamin is still going to aid in your baby’s development if you take it through the first two or three months.

Politics / You’re Pushing Nigeria To The Wall – FG Warns South Africa by FirstLadyNaija(f): 5:58pm On Feb 20, 2017
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has called on the South African government to take decisive and definitive measures to protect Nigerian citizens and other Africans within South African borders.
The aide said the seeming silence of the South African government was pushing Nigeria to the wall and may warrant sanctions.
She equally called on the African Union to intervene urgently in the renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa.

In a statement made available to FirstLadyNaija, Dabiri-Erewa described the attacks as an unnecessary setback.
The Nigerian community in South Africa led by Mr Ikechukwu Anyene had confirmed attacks and looting of Nigerian-owned businesses in Pretoria West on Saturday.
Anyene said that the union had reported the incident to the Nigeria mission and South African police.
“As we speak, five buildings with Nigerian businesses, including a church have been looted and burned by South Africans,” Anyene said.
Disturbed by this renewed attacks, Dabiri-Erewa advised Nigerians to be extra cautious as it looks like South African government seems to have no control over these attacks.
The SSA, however, urged restraint on the part of Nigerians and warned that further attacks without any reprimand may have dire consequences.
Dabiri-Erewa said the attention of the AU was being called to intervene because information had it that there will be another xenophobic attacks against foreigners on February 22 and February 23.
“These attacks should not be allowed to continue because it is a big setback,” she said.
Dabiri-Erewa had two weeks ago met with South African High Commissioner in Nigeria, Mr Lulu Aaron-Mnguni on the killing of Nigerians in South Africa.
“We have lost about 116 Nigerians in the last two years. And in 2016 alone, about 20 were killed. This is unacceptable to the people and Government of Nigeria,” the official warned.
Mr Aaron-Mnguni then promised that the South African government was investigating the matter.

Investment / The Nigerian Way To Save Money Before Recession Meets You: by FirstLadyNaija(f): 11:18am On Jul 25, 2016
1. Downsize to a More Frugal Lifestyle
Downsizing and learning how to live frugally can be a great strategy, because if you can learn to make do with less, you’ll increase your savings and you won’t find yourself struggling to adapt to a new lifestyle when a recession hits.
Living frugally isn’t as difficult as it sounds, and contrary to popular opinion, a frugal lifestyle isn’t about pinching pennies and depriving yourself of things that bring you joy. Rather, it’s about making conscious spending choices that reduces expenses, with minimal impact on your lifestyle.
There are lots of ways you can start living frugally. If your family has two vehicles, consider reducing it to one and making use of public transit. This choice alone could save you 500K per year. Or, if having two cars is necessary, consider selling one of the cars for a more fuel efficient sub-compact vehicle to save on the cost of gas. You can also look into downsizing your home or apartment, spending less on groceries, and scaling back on your cell phone plan.
The key is to ensure the cuts you’re making aren’t too extreme, or it will be difficult to sustain in the future. Learning how to get by with less is the key to recession proof living.

2. Diversify Your Income
Most of us are familiar with the saying “don’t put all your eggs in one basket,” and this adage could be applied to your source of income. Relying solely on a particular job for all your income has inherent risk, because if the economy tanks and you lose your job, you’ll also lose your only income and your ability to meet all your financial obligations.
Having multiple streams of income can really help. If one income source starts to dwindle – or gets eliminated completely – you have other sources to fall back on to help keep you afloat. Diversifying your income doesn’t necessarily entail getting a second job – in fact if your spouse is working in a different industry than you, you have some income diversity right there. However, if you’d like to stretch your wings and bring in some more income you can look into many different options such as renting out a room in your home, renting out a space in your garage, or going so far as to buy a revenue property and rent it out.
If you have a fairly flexible schedule you can consider getting a weekend job, and if you have particularly strong skillset or are developing one, you can look for ways to cash in on those skills. For example, if you’re a strong writer you can look into freelancing articles and blog posts, if you’re crafty you can sell your creations on Nairaland, Konga, Jiji, Jumia, and if you’re handy around the house you can consider advertising your services on Facebook. Don’t let these examples limit you, though. Any skill or talent your have could potentially be turned into a way to earn extra income.

3. Diversify Your Investments
In addition to diversifying your income, it’s also important to diversify your investments. If you have most of your money tied up in stock market investments, an economic downturn could be a financial disaster if all your money is tied up in one type of investment. And it’s for this reason that diversifying your investments is key.
Go through your investment portfolio and make sure your investments are spread out across different industries and even different types of assets so that when the market tumbles, your investments won’t be as affected and your losses won’t be as deep.
When it comes to diversification, you can park your money in a number of different investment vehicles. Real estate – whether it’s buying a home, a condo, or even land—is a common investment that generally appreciates with time. Investing in stocks – especially the stock market index – is a good way to help your portfolio grow, while bonds have often been a good way of bring in income. You can also consider international investments, as diversifying into other countries can also help to reduce your vulnerability to an economic downturn.

4. Save an Emergency Fund
When the economy starts to dip, our jobs and our income can be put in jeopardy, and it’s for this reason that saving an emergency fund is crucial when you prepare for a recession. In a nutshell, an emergency fund is the money you’ve saved up for the sole purpose of helping you get through your day-to-day living during financial hardships.
Whether your hours have been cut back, you’ve lost your job, your business isn’t making any money, or you made some poor financial decisions, emergency savings will give you a safety net to fall back on so you can ride the wave and emerge from the recession back on your feet.
If it’s possible, try to save about 3 to 6 months’ worth of your wages, so when the economy is down and money is tight, you won’t have to turn to credit. Using credit as a safety net is a mistake that often haunts people for years after the fact. Most don’t foresee the reality that they will need a larger income than they currently have to both repay the money (plus interest) that they borrowed during the rough patch.
Tough times always last longer than you would think, so debts from these times are always greater than anticipated. Since most people are used to living on their entire paycheque, they don’t have anything extra to repay this debt. So, they have to either increase their income or significantly downsize their lifestyle to afford repaying the debt at their current income level.

5. Establish a Budget and Pay Down Your Debts
Carrying a debt burden is exactly that: a burden. And, during a recession when jobs are scarce and money is tight, those high debt payments will add only more stress to an already stressful situation. So it’s time to take stock of your financial situation and all your payment obligations, and to make a plan to pay down your debts.
During a recession it can be difficult to cover day-to-day expenses – let alone debt repayments – and this can cause your debt to spiral out of control. Carrying high levels of debt is very risky, because a slight change in external factors could affect your ability to pay your debt. Although you may be able to manage payments now, a job loss or an interest rate hike combined with banks tightening credit limits could change that for the worse.
The first step to successfully paying down your debts is establishing a budget that accurately reflects the money coming into your household, and where that money is supposed to go. If you aren’t tackling your debt as aggressively as you could – or worse, adding to your debt – having a budget will help you identify spending areas you can cut back on so more of your money can go towards paying down your debt. Here are some detailed steps you can take to build a household budget, so you’ll be able to live within your means and manage your money better.

Recession Proof Your Finances by Preparing in Advance
To recap, having a healthy emergency fund, learning how to adapt to a more frugal lifestyle, and diversifying your sources of revenue are just a few money saving tips that can help you survive a recession. A recession is something beyond our control, but what we can control is how we prepare for tough financial times. Taking precautionary measures now to safeguard your finances in the future can make a world of difference. When you know how to recession proof yourself and your finances, a downturn in the economy is no longer anything to fear. Instead, you can live peacefully knowing that while you can’t control the world, your finances are under control and you’re ready for whatever comes your way.

Politics / Lawyer To Sen Akpabio's Media Aide Issues Statement On His Blackmail By Scammer by FirstLadyNaija(f): 6:27pm On Apr 14, 2016
An Abuja based Lawyer, Barrister Ugochukwu Ezekiel has said that the recent publication in the media connecting the Special Assistant on Media to the Senate Minority Leader, Anietie Ekong was an Orchestrated plot to blackmail him with the aim of extorting money from him.

In a Press Statement released in Abuja, Barrister Ezekiel said the lady who sponsored recent publication in the media to tarnish the image of the media aide of Senator Akpabio, was a serial blackmailer but that his client would not succumb to such cheap blackmail.

The statement reads in full:

“Our attention has been drawn to some online publications linking our Client, ANIETIE EKONG to one Ms Paula Lawrence, a well known online scammer who is alleging sexual harassment against our client.

“After painstakingly perusing the documents at our disposal and other evidence available to us (which evidence and documents would have been made available to the public but for the fact that the matter is currently sub judice ), we have come to the following incontrovertible facts:

“The said Ms Paula Lawrence is an online scammer who preys on unsuspecting married men on the social media by sending her nude pictures to them and thereafter uses same to blackmail them into parting with reasonable amount of money.

“That of recent, Ms Paula turned her attention to aides of Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and current Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and successfully duped a former ADC to Akpabio. After scamming him of reasonable amount of money, Ms Paula publicly taunted him on her facebook wall and threatened to blackmail him.

“Our discreet investigation has equally revealed that Ms Paula uses different names on the social media as the occasion demands to dupe innocent Nigerians. Such names as our investigation showed are Paula Eno Ukoh, Paula Angel Lawrence, Joy Ekong, Chika Julie Andrew etc. The general public are hereby put on notice as to her antics.

“Ms Paula tried unsuccessfully to dupe our client and thereafter made a demand of N50, 000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira) from our client through a whatsApp message posing as a lawyer.

“That when our client did not bulge, Ms Paula resorted to blackmail by circulating her nude pictures, only to turn around to accuse our client of publishing same. Our client states that he does not have and did not and cannot publish the nude picture of a woman.

“Ms Paula first reported a case of sexual harassment against our client at the Area Command, Uyo, Akwa Ibom Police Command wherein the Police investigated the matter and concluded that Ms Paula gave false information.

“She equally reported the same case at the highest echelon of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja, demanding the sum of N50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira) from our client but the Police after investigation dismissed her matter to be frivolous.

“Her current antics is aimed at tarnishing the image of our client and his boss, Senator Godswill Akpabio with a view to compel them to approach her for settlement and part with reasonable amount of money. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. We sincerely believe that like all her previous antics, this shall fail and thereafter she would fully face the wrath of the law.

“On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, we approached the Federal High Court, Abuja where we received the incompetent processes she filed. She filed the suit since February 2016 but refused to formally serve same on our client but preferred to use the suit to blackmail our client and as a negotiation tool to get money of our client. When her plans failed, she secretly released the Court papers to the press.

“We shall respond appropriately to the suit in line with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including but not limited to dragging her to Court for defamation of character.

“In view of the foregoing, and having brought the bare facts to the attention of everyone, we have been instructed to, without hesitation, drag anybody to court for defamation of character, who continues to make disparaging comments about our client that are not in tandem with the facts and documents concerning this matter.
Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
UGOCHUKWU EZEKIEL, ESQ.

Politics / How Acting DG Of NDDC Gave Corruption New Face by FirstLadyNaija(f): 12:12pm On Mar 29, 2016
Mrs Ibim Semenitari, the Acting DG of Niger Delta Development Commission

(NDDC),Former Commissioner for Information under the Chibuike Rotimi

Amaechi administration recently paid a Seven Million Naira

(7,000,000:00) Per annum for 4 Years to herself as Rent in her own house

which is located on Ernest Ikoli Street, Old G.R.A , Port Harcourt City, Rivers state .

It will be recalled that this same woman when the administration of the current

loquacious minister for Transport Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi rounded up had

been indicted in car scam which with the help of authorities was recovered from

her residence in July 2015.

NDDC, I was made to understand usually provides allocation for rent for their

DG(s) over the period of their tenures but for an Acting DG who is illegally

occupying a seat that should be for Akwa Ibom State based on the rotation

formula amongst the Niger Delta states to ask the Finance Department to pay

her rent to herself for her own property is the height of corruption.

We are still trying to come to understanding why Garba Shehu, the Presidential

Spokesman to Muhammadu Buhari buying over $800,000:00 at CBN rates and

selling off to public at N362 per dollar and the recent #iStandWithBuhari

N2 Billion scam and ow this.

We call upon the authorities to check this information and do the needful.

If we do not collectively fight corruption , it will kill Nigeria.

At a time the citizens of the country are queuing for PMS and a bag of garri is

costing N6000 per bag and a bag of Rice (Oryza Sativa) at N15/16,000 per bag,

this is more than inhumane. This is a pure act of greed and wickedness from

the Change agents in the Muhammadu Buhari led administration.

Receipt of the payments is readily available for verification.
