kasiem: How can sanusi adopt this senseless policy in a country where most of the businessmen are computer novice? No problem, we'll explore the option banking in containers or under the soil. Most business man use 1-4 phones, epayment is not all about internet banking |
Business › Re: 11 Communities Sue Cbn Over Daily Withdrawal Limit by Fiver: 6:43pm On Jun 13, 2011 |
efisher: @Fiver, I agree we do not need to wait for it to be 100% secure before using e-payment but we need to make OUR own systems (in Nigeria) as secure as possible before forcing Nigerians into it. I currently make most of my transactions online but it is best as an option until we are able to manage the threats. We do not want to wake up one morning to find out that 90% of our nation's money has ended up in China! As I said earlier, that is another subject. Sanusi's motive is not even getting everyone to embrace e-payment but to reduce the cost of managing cash. sorry but the FSS 2020 was drawn up before Sanusi became the CBN manager, the move towards e-payment was contained in there, the cost of managing cash is just one of the benefits |
Business › Re: 11 Communities Sue Cbn Over Daily Withdrawal Limit by Fiver: 5:45pm On Jun 13, 2011 |
efisher: Are we really ready for this? Recently Sony, Google, CityBank and IMF (yes IMF!!!) were hit by cyber hackers! Can Sanusi really assure us of the security of our systems? Anyway, that is another subject.
As Seun rightly said, the main reason behind the policy is the cost of managing cash and not even e-banking. Sanusi has got it all wrong simply because he does not want to do what Soludo did or tried to do I.e (The coin, N1,000 note and removing the 2 zeros options). He also does not want to take a more sustainable but difficult option of gradual development. He wants a military style implementation that will profit CBN even if Nigerians refuse to change.
We have already dealt with this subject extensively in other threads but I think the summary was to make the e-payment options more attractive and secure while allowing those who want to continue with cash to do so. We also said the necessary infrastructure has to be in place for an aggressive implementation to be effective. if we are waiting for e-payment to be 100% secure before we introduce electronic payment then we will wait forever, the profit wont be for CBN alone, security is a big plus to everybody |

Politics › Re: How 37-Storey NECOM house Was Sold To Bankole's Firm For N4 Billion! by Fiver: 4:59pm On Jun 13, 2011 |
We dont know of any debt that came with the building, maintenance bills etc etc, It seems in Nigeria every transaction get k leg kalokalo: This is an ignorant statement! A property is only worth what a willing buyer is ready to pay for it ! Nigerians have been saying that Nitel is worth "billions of dollars" and yet FG has failed many times to find people willing to pay "billions of dollars" for Nitel. What does that tell you? They said that building is "worth" 75 billion. Did the market determine that price? Is that what a willing buyer would agree to pay?
Lest we forget, this property was advertized in various national dailies for sale and bids received. Did someone offer a higher price for this property and did not get it? Was it not Transcorp that bid 100 million Naira for the same property? If Toyota says its cars are worth the Ferrari prices and starts to sell their cars as such, it wouldn't take long for the market to teach them a lesson by forcing them to close shop.
That property got the price that someone was willing to pay for it. It is not worth anything more! If it was, why did someione not offer a higher price? You sell a property and now compalin FOUR years later that it did not follow due process. Nonsense Thank you |

Anyone issuing a dud cheque should know that it automatically translates into an overdraft on his/her account . . . I think less people will do that! Nice idea Electronic transactions help with records and fraud and money laundering can be detected better than cash |

Why not a teaching qualification, You can always teach and start your own mini tutorial class
or learn creative arts -make things you can sell or repair stuff, all depends on what you enjoy doing there are so many careers that don't actually require a degree just that there's too much emphasis on it in Nigeria |

The country is in limbo! abandoned contracts everywhere
Jonathan did not even name a spokesperson for the office or does he require senate approval? |
Politics › Where Is The President? by Fiver(op): 7:09am On Jun 13, 2011 |
Ever since January, the country has been in some sort of election fever, issues are not being addressed properly, things are stagnating
Jonathan promised to hit the ground running he took some days break in Calabar, now he has been sworn in, Nothing seems to be happening apart from the usual efcc drama, kerosene is spiralling out of control, Diesel is expensive, militants/terrorist are bombing and killing citizens, the rains here again meaning all construction or road rehabilitation works will be suspended or forgotten
Where is the list of ministers so we can scrutinise them before the senators come back from their own break
The so called UN HIV conference could have been delegated to a Permanent Secretary or a medical professional! |

The insurance industry in nigeria has to be one of the laziest lot so far, they depend entirely on government business and companies, they have not been able to ginger the country with any policy to generate profit or improve efficiency. Maybe they need to merge
Lasaco has been doing 0.50 for a long time |

Do you build the machines yourself, or you accept mixers from investors- lets say they bought it from somewhere else secondly, what happens when there's not regular business? is the income still guaranteed? We pay 60k for medium size and 120k for the big size per month,we dont accept the small size because the don't move in the market. |
