Did you take it for a repair recently? Do you have someone around that knows how to remove the back cover? Did you check to confirm the system configuration before leaving the dealer shop? These and more are the questions you should ask yourself before drawing conclusion.

I suggest you remove the back cover and check the RAM in the both slots, if they use 4GB in each or only 8GB in one slot. Removing the cover will help you know if it was removed or not inserted properly.

Well it can be 500GB or 512GB SSD.

There's 128GB SSD which is very common and there's 120GB SSD too.

I know you want to say it’s supposed to be 479GB or so but listen that's due to the partitions. It's still 500gb. Same way a 1TB storage will show 9 hundred and something but will you still call it a 9 hundred and something storage? No. Its still 1tb

No you got me wrong. SSD usually comes with 128| 256 | 512 etc while HDD 250 | 320 | 500 etc so I was wondering if it was a typographical error.

After installation and not partition, system takes some space leaving only 465GB for a 500GB HDD and 476GB for a 512GB SSD.

I am not here to compete with knowledge but rather to learn, share and provide technical assistance.

Sequel to the other reply on same issue on the other Section, kindly connect the WiFi to a different device to be sure there’s internet access. If the WiFi net access is good, the follow the steps I wrote to troubleshoot the issue.

Try the following

1. Go to Manage Wireless Networks then select your WiFi name and click forget
2. Go to the list of Wireless Networks to reconnect making sure you enter the correct password
3. Go to Change Adapter Setting and when the list of adapters appear, select WLAN adapter, right click and click properties then scroll to select IPV4 among the options and click details/properties. If there is any static IP address on the adapter, select automatic.

Point 3 maybe the cause of the issue you are facing so be sure there is no static IP that is not same class with your router.

Depending on your budget, you can buy it and upgrade it to 8GB and also replace the HDD to Sata SSD for optimal performance.

If it has 2 slots, you will buy 4GB and add to the existing 4GB to make it 8GB but if it is only one slot you will need to buy 8GB and remove the existing 4GB RAM.

If I understand you clearly, the A button no longer works and you want to replace it with a button that is not mostly used on the keyboard. If that is the case, I do not think there’s a possibility though you can add some keyboard layouts and configure which is a bit complicated. I suggest you make use of virtual keyboard under Accessibility option and save up to replace the keyboard.

My Lenovo laptop has just started misbehaving . It just suddenly stop detecting ba3 1 , as if that's not enough the keyboard light stopped working .okay I was still seeing it as normal thing . Then worse of all it started to off at any slight change in motion

For further assistance, you need to be specific on your location. Meanwhile, the issue is either motherboard failure or BIOS. Whichever maybe the case there’s need for a proper troubleshooting on the laptop.

It is possible your fan is bad and requires replacement. Hence, you need to take it to an IT Engr. for further troubleshooting and fix. Kindly specify your location to know if there’s any tech guy in this section that can assist in servicing or replacement of your fan. Avoid using the laptop till it’s fixed to avert damaging your processor or HDD.

It is a good laptop for word processing and other graphics softwares like CorelDraw Suite. It comes with a 6th Gen processor, SSD, keyboard light etc. The price is affordable for someone that needs something sleek and is good for other educational purposes. In conclusion, it is a rugged laptop.

I want to express my profound gratitude to Udemzyudex, for his kind assistance, despite being choked up with work, and I can truly affirm that he is a technician's technician. Despite doing his best regardingmy ZBOOK complaint, he went as far as flashing the BIOS chip and when it seems like the problem persisted, he sadly told me that we were out of options. Now to the good news, having seen him at CV, Ikeja on Friday, my mind was restlessand by Saturday, I had this prodding to boot the system. When I did, it still showed same glitchy screen as usual
which had also shown after the BIOS flashing. After few seconds, I just intuitively pressed the "enter" key, and to my surprise, the screen went dark, then lit up albeit blank. After a while, I saw the dotted circle, followed by the "please wait"... Next thing I saw was the login screen and pronto, I logged in. Now with his guidance, I was able to switch the hard drive to another system where I installed windows 11pro. The initial OS was windows 10pro. After swapping back the HDD to the HP, I saw the HP logo briefly on the boot screen. Mind you, the screen on booting no longer showed anything like esc or f2 options to get into BIOS or boot options. Even now I have done a clean install, the screen went glitchy briefly on restart before finishing the boot sequence properly. I will keep you guys updated as soon as I am done with the windows update processes online. Special thanks to Fixitng, who gave me potential troubleshooting directions as early as 6am on Thursday too.

The basic apps like Adobe Acrobat Reader, VCL Player, Chrome etc are free with less setup file size while MS Office is paid but other versions setup file size is in GB.

Sorry for the late reply. I tried plugging it in another laptop, but still status quo. It didn't detect it at all, although the blue light indicator of the drive was blinking as usual, so the cable is working fine and the issue is indeed from the drive itself.

Go to Manage to see a list of disks on the system. There you will find the status of the external drive if it requires initialization or format. Ensure the external drive is plugged while you go to manage.

I am unable to view the files in my external hard disk. When I plug it to my laptop, it takes forever to load, before it eventually displays a pop up message which contains the below:

"You need to format the disk in drive : D before you can use it..."

Been trying to upload a screenshot but unable to.
It has been working fine since, before this issue started recently.

What do I do at this point? I can't afford to lose the contents pleaseeeeee

Plug the external hard drive in another laptop to see if you can access the contents. If it fail to open in another laptop you need a hard disk repair tool or recovery software.

Revert back for further directives after trying the above.

Please I've not used my HP folio for over a week. The folio was working smoothly on the last use. However, I tried powering it up 2 days ago, noticed the keyboard backlight keeps blinking. The screen doesn't come on. The keyboard light will keep blinking for over 30 mins till the fan will just start blowing noisily. What could be the issue? How do I fix it?


Some weeks ago Before this happened, it will suddenly go off and show blue screen diagnostics. But whenever I remove and reinstall the battery, it works just fine.



Update: I swapped the ram sticks. It powers on without keyboard light blinking. However, the screen doesn't come on. The capslock key blinks twice, and the fan starts blowing very noisily.

In my opinion:

You need to troubleshoot the memory to be sure the motherboard is compatible with the two memory sticks.

It is likely the system can no longer carry both at the same time or one is weak and gradually failing so you need to identify the defective one.

However, kindly remove the battery followed by both RAM sticks. Clean the memory slots and RAM teeth. Insert only one RAM and plug the system to power without the battery. Switch ON the laptop. If it does not display manufacturer logo, try the other RAM.

If it works, shutdown and insert the battery.

Do not insert both the memory for now rather you should replace same with a higher GB than using 2 two sticks.

For instance use one 8GB than x2 4GB or 16GB than x2 8GB

Yes, the TV automatically shows which of the HDMI ports that's connected or hooked up to any display source. Given the aforementioned scenario, what could possibly be the diagnosis? And any hopes of repair/resolution?

Try the following options

1. Power ON the system and wait for 50 secs for it to get to Windows logon screen, use Fn + F key depending on the function key for external display

2. If the above option doesn’t work, shutdown the system then open the back cover and disconnect the display connector from the motherboard. Reconnect the HDMI to the Tv and power ON the laptop.

Option 2 will definitely work because that’s the only way you can access BIOS on external display without Fn key. Once you are able to access the laptop on your Tv go to device manager - display and roll back the graphics driver.

It is possible your screen needs replacement too.

If the problem persists after 2nd option, take it to a technician to put another screen or revert back for further technical assistance.
