Politics / Irate Mob Attacks Jonathan Campaign Coordinator In Jigawa by fkaz(m): 3:46pm On Mar 24, 2015
DUTSE – The Coordinator of GoodLuck/Sambo Campaign Organization in Jigawa, Alhaji Yusuf Alasan escaped being lynched when he was attacked by youths who participated in the campaign held in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, Weekend. Youths drawn from the 27 LGA’s of the state attended the Transformation Agenda of Nigeria (TAN) sponsored campaign for President Jonathan’s re-election.

Drama started shortly after the event when the youths demanded for their fees, but to their surprise, the coordinator asked them to drop their phone numbers as he promised payment will be made in due course and they should expect bank transaction alert.

This drew the ire of the youths who accused the campaign coordinator, who also doubles as the SURE-P boss in Jigawa State of diverting their mobilisation money running into millions of Naira, describing his action as betrayal and breach of trust.

The situation later degenerated when the youths pounced on Alhaji Alasan and his team, as people scampered to safety, some removing their TAN branded T-shirts and Face caps.

All effort to contact the Jonathan campaign Coordinator proved abortive as his telephone rang several times without him taking his calls.
But one of aides, Aminu Aminu confirmed that irate mob attacked the organisers of the rally.

TV/Movies / African Magic Launches Igbo Channel by fkaz(m): 1:40pm On Mar 21, 2015

In line with its ongoing development strategy, Africa Magic, the continent’s leading provider of African entertainment content, has announced the launch of a new channel, Africa Magic Igbo.

Designed to showcase the rich Igbo culture of Nigeria, the 24 hour general entertainment channel follows the successes of the Africa Magic Hausa and Yoruba channels and will go on air at 19:00 CAT on the 2nd of April, 2015. Africa Magic Igbo will be available on DStv channel 159.
The launch of Africa Magic Igbo, which brings to eight, the total number of Africa Magic channels, follows the redefinition of the Africa Magic channels in 2014 and the recent refreshing of the Africa Magic Urban channel.

Speaking on the launch, the director, M-Net (West Africa), Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of Africa Magic Igbo. Igbo language entertainment content has always played a prominent role in the Nigerian film and television industry and we are glad to offer a platform where this rich content can be showcased to the rest of Africa and the world.

“Popular Igbo language content like Living in Bondage, Nneka the Pretty Serpent and many others set the trend for the modern Nigerian film and television industry, or Nollywood as it’s called; it is thus only fitting that such content should be given a platform where it is easily accessible by audiences around the continent. With the launch of Africa Magic Igbo, we have once again proven our commitment to providing content made for Africa by Africans.

“The channel will appeal to audiences in and outside Nigeria, as the Igbo language is also spoken in a number of other African countries like Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon. Africa Magic Igbo will also undoubtedly be popular with audiences across the continent as shown by the widespread success of the popular Igbo language movies of the 1990s, and our viewers can expect to see the best from renowned and exciting Igbo talent like Okey Bakassi, Chiwetalu Agu and Dede One Day amongst many others,” added Mba-Uzoukwu.
Africa Magic Igbo launches on the 2nd of April 2015.

Politics / Ojukwu Misinformed Nigerians On Aburi – Gowon by fkaz(m): 7:32am On Mar 21, 2015
Former military ruler Gen. Yakubu Gowon yesterday
accused the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu, of misrepresenting the Aburi
Accord to Nigerians.

Speaking yesterday at the launch of a four-part
biography on President Goodluck Jonathan, Gowon
said he had to correct an impression created in the
book by the author, Charles Imokhai, a reverend
father.

Gowon said Ojukwu’s statement on the Aburi Accord
was contrary to what was discussed.
He said: “I have seen that you (Imokhai) have gone
back in history in your research when Ojukwu and
myself had the Aburi Accord.

“I was fascinated by that because I can assure you
that that meeting was to break the ice and for all of
us, the military leaders at the time, be allowed to be
able to agree to be discussing our problems in
Nigeria and to solve them.

“What happened to us at Aburi was that I couldn’t
make it down (to Nigeria) because I was
unfortunately down with a fever. “Ojukwu got back
(before me) and made a statement and that wasn’t
what we discussed and that was the beginning of the
misunderstanding. “Since you presented that we had
a meeting, I thought I should make that comment
and to correct that.”

The accord was reached at a meeting held between
January 4-5, 1967, in Aburi, a Ghanaian town,
between delegates of the federal military
government and the now defunct eastern region as
part of efforts to prevent the looming civil war in the
aftermath of the 1966 military coups.

Gowon was the civil war time leader of Nigeria and
prevented the secession bid of the then Eastern
region from the federation between 1967 and 1970.
Ojukwu as governor of the eastern region led the
succession bid.

He had returned from Aburi announcing that it had
been agreed that the country should adopt
confederalism — a political system in which every
region would essentially be a country on its own with
only a symbolic national government.

Nigeria eventually went to war in May of that year
after different interpretations of the Aburi Accord and
failed peace moves

Politics / Don’t Be Afraid Of Jail, Buhari’s Wife Tells Patience Jonathan by fkaz(m): 7:05am On Mar 20, 2015
AISHAT Buhari, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has told President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, not to have the fear of going to jail if Buhari emerged winner in the forthcoming March 28 presidential poll.

The APC presidential candidate’s wife, who said the country had long suffered bad governance, said her husband would not have time to witchhunt anybody.

Aishat, who spoke on Thursday in Benin, the Edo State capital, where she interacted with women in the state, was reacting to statements credited to Patience that Buhari would jail women if elected as President.

“For those that are campaigning, saying that he (Buhari) is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is.
“But they shouldn’t be afraid because we are all yearning for change.

“The insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking, I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now.

“Already, they have painted him black, using religion.
“I’m happy today that Nigerians realise that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria,” Aishat said.

She added, “In each zone of the country, we have peculiar problems; our problems differ. For me, in this zone, girl-child trafficking should be considered (as) one of our problems, though I know that there is unemployment. Unemployment is a major factor that contributes to brain-drain and also the girl-child trafficking.

“Buhari is a leader. He was a leader; he led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system.”

While urging women to uphold and not sell their Permanent Voter Cards but to use them to vote for a new Nigeria, she however assured the people that her husband’s administration would uphold the development of the girl-child, if elected.

“I am here today to say that when my husband is elected into the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, all these are going to be history. The insecurity, girl-child trafficking, suffering of the widows in the South-East will; all of them will come to an end.”

There must be a cultural design to accommodate the widows; a design that will make the girl-child to be comfortable wherever she is in this country.

“The collection of PVCs is also important. Don’t ever sell it; it is like selling your future again. When you sell it for N5, 000, you won’t see N5, 000 till after four years, which is too bad for you.

Get your PVC, vote for the APC. Vote for freedom, good education, good healthcare, good road and all the basic necessities should be given to you. Thank you, so much for waiting in the sun for hours to see me; I love you all,” Mrs. Buhari said.

Also speaking, Governor Oshiomhole stressed that the party desired to deliver quality development and achieve success in the various sectors of the country, especially in the area education and job creation, as it had done in the state. He noted that the party was known for “workable projects” rather than “symbolic projects.”

Politics / How Okonjo-Iweala Is Frustrating Governors, Says Fashola by fkaz(m): 8:24am On Mar 19, 2015
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, western Nigeria has accused the Nigerian Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, of frustrating state governments in the country by denying them access to funds for development.

Fashola said Okonjo-Iweala’s actions are political and meant to starve states of funds for development primarily to create financial challenges in states ahead of the elections.

The governor, who was at the State House of Assembly Tuesday evening, to inform the lawmakers about the current state of the Nigerian economy, lamented that the economy had been run aground by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and that as a result, the state has to maintain some level of austerity.

“Today the Honourable Minister for Finance, if any honour still attaches to her actions, has stopped Nigerian banks from funding state governments because of elections, as if the needs of the people for roads, healthcare, drugs, education and security has stopped.

“She has insisted that inspite of individual appraisals of each bank by their credit committees, all State requests for funding by banks must be approved by her Ministry.

“To the best of my knowledge, she has not granted any of the requests submitted to her for approval in her new coordinating role as the retail banker for the Nigerian economy.

“A recent study that I commissioned just two months ago shows that construction workers are losing their jobs in the thousands across the country.

“Reports from four major construction companies show that a total of 5,170 local workers and 450 expatriate workers have been laid off between December 2014 and February 2015 and there will be more to follow, from only four companies.

“Your guess is then as good as mine about what is happening in several other hundreds of middle and small construction companies.

“The disposable income value of rich and poor Nigerians have been diminished considerably, and the prognosis is not encouraging having regard to the high unemployment rates, high interest rate, and the necessity for self-generation of electricity which further erodes this income.

“My quick check revealed that at least 2,400 bank workers have been laid off in March 2015 alone.

“Investigations at the port showed that many importers cannot collect their goods because the prices between when they ordered and when they arrived has risen sharply.

“This is largely as a result of the devaluation of the naira that followed the postponement of the election.

“These goods include raw materials for factories and small businesses. Without these raw materials, they cannot produce. If they cannot produce they will most likely lay off workers,” Fashola said.

He further lamented that the Nigerian stock market had lost an estimated N4 trillion as a result of the postponement of the 2015 general elections adding that “according to Mr. President when he visited the Stock Exchange last week, in his opinion this is not that bad, because when he took office, the market had crashed to N6 trillion as a result of the global financial crises.”

He urged the people of Lagos to form your own opinion about the President statement reminding them that fallen stock prices mean huge personal financial loses to the owners of those shares, and they are in their millions.

“Indeed, the picture that is emerging on our economic canvass where we substantially import goods and services is not a pretty one.

“There is a news headline that IMF is recommending a further devaluation of the naira. This is frightening for me as it should be for any citizen and more so for any leader,” he said.

He also slammed his colleagues in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for wasting their states funds to hold a meeting in Lagos and protest against the use of Electronic Card Readers by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, “as if Lagos is the headquarters of INEC.

“They desecrate Nigeria’s commercial capital by their poorly conceived misadventure and the Agenda for their thoughtless gathering,” he said while seeking for an amendment to the 2015 Appropriation Law of the state with the argument that it would create for effective management of revenues and would make the state only spend what it gets since the dwindling revenue to Nigeria has also affected Lagos State.

“While our external reserves had depleted from US$37.0 billion in November 2014 to about US$30.06 billion currently, the official exchange rate of the naira to the US dollar dipped from N155/US$ in mid-November 2014 to the current exchange rate of N198.50/US$ (a 28 percent devaluation over the last four months). The exchange rate at the parallel market foreign exchange window currently hovers around N228/US$ (a decline of about 36 percent) and yet still on a downward spiral.

“The summation of all these is that the purchasing power of the citizens has been considerably eroded, while simultaneously the investment activities of both the private and public sectors in production cum employment generation capacity and critical infrastructure is now being curtailed.

“To put this in perspective, the revenues accruing into the Federation Account (inclusive of VAT Receipts) declined from a monthly average of N622 billion in year 2014 to the current monthly average of N541 billion (a decrease of 13 percent).

Lagos State’s share from the Federation Account has also correspondingly fell from monthly average of N11.05 billion in 2014 to the current monthly average of N10.34 billion. In fact, in February 2015 in comparison with January the State recorded a decline of 14 percent,” he lamented adding that this had also affected Lagos.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Warns Jonathan Against Fani-kayode by fkaz(m): 4:16pm On Mar 17, 2015
Fani kayode is my Boy, provide him food he will eat and then sing for you. He's a smart boy. - General Olusegun Obasanjo
Politics / Tinubu Warns Jonathan Against Fani-kayode by fkaz(m): 2:19pm On Mar 17, 2015
Former Lagos State governor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to be wary of former Aviation Minister and the Director of Media and Publicity, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode.

Speaking on Monday in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media, Mr. Sunday Dare and titled: ‘Femi Fani-Kayode is an Epistle of Deceit as he Continues to Battle the Truth,’ Tinubu said Fani-Kayode could say anything against anybody for as long as he gets power.

The APC leader was reacting to claim by Fani-Kayode that government is not misusing the vehicles of state power to oppress the opposition, backing his claims with quotes from the Bible and claiming that APC leaders are wicked.

“The things that FFK (Fani-Kayode) said to us about Jonathan in private will remain private. But Jonathan would be wise to watch his back whenever he is dealing with this bugle for hire. The man has changed position so many times that he must feel like a tired chameleon on a spinning wheel of many colors. He is confused what colour he should be. The only thing he knows is that he will soon change hue again.

According to Tinubu: “Those of us in the APC know him for what he is. It was roughly a year ago that FFK tried to join the APC. In attempting to integrate himself, he spewed endless venom against his current boss. Because we knew him, we held him at arm’s length.

“The man is willing to say anything for a taste of power and to wiggle his way into some office or another. When he saw the door closed to him, he predictably bolted. His exit remains our gain. History will mark it as a key point in the development of the APC.

“If you doubt what I say, review carefully FFK’s statement on why he returned to the PDP, it is an epistle of deceit. Examine its allegations. He lists several purported statements made by APC figures that allegedly soured him on the party.

“His allegations against the party members are inaccurate. Here, the dates of the alleged statements are more than the purported content that are important. By his own admission, every alleged statement he attributed to an APC figure took place before FFK tried to join the party. A consummate media hound, he must have been aware of the so-called offensive statements prior to seeking space under the APC banner.

“The statements did not deter him from joining. They also were not the reason he departed. He left because, although a fledging party, we were wise enough not to give him a position of importance. He did not leave because he feared the APC would lead him astray. He left because we did not give him the chance to lead us astray.

“Soon enough, Fani-Kayode will discover that in the new Nigeria and in the responsible government to come, his tawdry skills will not be required. He can then go home and look in the mirror to see what he has made of himself.”

He claimed that Fani-Kayode’s antics of deceit is aimed at deflecting public attention away from the dirty tricks and tactics the government is set to deploy in order to oppress and intimidate key APC figures during these final days before the March 28 election.

“FFK should proceed carefully with the use to which he puts his tongue. Not every word a person speaks is a lark that evaporates the moment after its expression. FFK ropes his tongue in danger when he, of all people, uses the Bible to ridicule others. He must be careful for he does not mock man. He mocks a Higher Power and should be wary of his excesses in this regard.

“When FFK looks in the mirror he thinks he sees a man who should be Pope. Instead, what he should see is a man guilty of more public lies than any Nigerian of his generation. Perhaps FFK can delude himself because his memory is short while his ambition is long. His hope is that our memories are even shorter. Here he is wrong again.”

Politics / Interim Government: We Have Proof Against Jonathan – Fayemi by fkaz(m): 10:37pm On Mar 15, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP lied in their claim that no entreaty was made to woo All Progressives Congress, APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu into a proposed interim government, former Governor Kayode Fayemi said Sunday.

Fayemi, presently the director of policy in the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation who disclosed the existence of verifiable proof of the plot also reassured the president and his aides that a future APC national government would not witch-hunt them through a probe.

Fayemi, who spoke in Ado Ekiti nevertheless cautioned the PDP led administration against allowing any harm to the person of Tinubu, warning that any such harm would mean crossing the red line as he said that Tinubu’s assertion of a threat to his life was true.
Fayemi spoke at Aramoko Ekiti Sunday during the 40-day Fidau for the late Pa Jejelola Akingbolu and Mrs Raliat Akingbolu.

Tinubu had last week alleged that the presidency had made a bait towards him to be part of an interim government to be constituted in the event the scheduled elections were truncated.
His assertion was despite prior dismissals of the plot for an interim government by President Jonathan, who described assertions towards an interim government as constitutionally untenable.

Pressing the claim of the existence of a plot Sunday, Fayemi said that Tinubu’s allegation was not meant to malign the personality of the president.

“President Jonathan is becoming desperate by the day and he would stop at nothing to return to government. You know what they did in Ekiti. So, there was nothing Tinubu said that was not verifiable.

I have evidence that he was invited to be part of Interim Government as a way of dividing us as a prominent member of our party. There is absolutely nothing they cannot do to distract us because they could see that Presidency is gradually slipping off their hands.

“It was good that these alarms were being raised and put on the front burner that there was a sinister intention to subvert the will of the people.

“What Nigerians are looking for now is for the elections to be held on March 28 as scheduled by INEC and for the victor who is overwhelmingly elected by the popular votes to be announced.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Goodluck Jonathan

“We as party leaders and members of the opposition are ready to congratulate the winner, but if they go ahead and subvert the will of the people, they will surely go to jail”, Fayemi stated.

Fayemi assured that Buhari will keep to his promise not to dig into the financial corruption of the past, including those that may have been perpetrated by the present administration.

Politics / I Helped Make Jonathan President –tinubu by fkaz(m): 5:58am On Mar 15, 2015
National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has revealed that he was instrumental to the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2011 general elections.
He said this yesterday during the Ndigbo APC governorship rally held at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos.

His words: “In 2011, I helped Jonathan become President because he made us believe he was a breath of fresh air. I didn’t say because he was from Bayelsa that I would not help him. We voted for him because he promised to make our lives better. But now, he has failed us.”

He called on the Igbo living in Lagos to support the APC to continue reaping the dividends of democracy. He urged them not to allow politics of tribe and religion to influence their decision at the polls.

“Igbo have lived here for years, and nobody has discriminated against them. No one would fight them because they are based in their land. No one can determine the tribe or family where he is born; it is only God that can do that.

Therefore, everyone must be treated with equality and respect. Today, Nigeria is no longer safe. But because election is now approaching, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has remembered you. Can they give Igbo shops in Lagos? Can they give their children scholarships? In Lagos, when we give you shops, we don’t ask you where you come from. We let you do your business. We don’t build roads and say Igbo people should not ply them.
Over 500 Igbo are in the Lagos State civil service and we don’t discriminate when it comes to promotion,” he said.

“The PDP-led administration has ruined the economy and that is why many Igbo businessmen are suffering now. Because of the dollar exchange rate, the rate of imported goods has increased and has crippled many businesses.”

“The country is no longer secure, but with Gen Muhammadu Buhari as president, he would flush out the Boko Haram sect just as he flushed out Maitasine when he was the Head of State. So, I urge every Igbo person living in Lagos to support APC just as the APC government has supported Igbo.”

The governorship candidate of the APC, Akinwumi Ambode, promised to empower Igbo youths and make life more meaningful by creating a better enabling environment for their businesses to thrive.

keep believing your own lies.
did buhari support the current governor?
he will be shocked at the results on 28/29.
kano people are no fools

Kwankwoso use president jonathan campaign money to even support Buhari in kano state, that is why jonathan was annoyed with kwankwoso from day one.
Buhari is a symbol, which you need to associate with here in north if you want to win any election, no matter the party you belong to.

Politics / Edo Emmploy Immigration Tradegy Victim by fkaz(m): 5:05am On Mar 14, 2015
Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has given automatic employment to 20 victims of the last Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment tragedy of March 15, 2014, and also gave the sum of N2 million to the widower and children of the late Mrs. Sandra Amu who died in the commotion.
This is coming almost a year after the Federal Government promised automatic employment to those injured in the exercise and three employment slots to families of those who lost their loved ones in the recruitment fiasco.

Disclosing the employment offer during a meeting with the family of the woman who lost her life and eleven of the 20 persons who sustained injuries during the ill-fated recruitment held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday, March 15, 2014, Oshiomhole said, “It is unlawful for people seeking employment to pay money. It is the employer who pays the consultant and not the applicant. That transaction was mainly illegal collection and it is extortion.

“I think it is important that people don’t exploit office power to compound the problem of those who are already down. What we can, without prejudice to whatever plans the Immigration Services or the Ministry of Internal Affairs is making, is to see how we can assist in terms of employment.

“The government will also provide the family of the deceased with legal representation so as to sue the Immigration authorities for the loss of life. Each time people are reckless with human lives and they go home and sleep, it is why we talk about the culture of impunity, where people can do anything and go free.”

He continued: “We are also going to offer the graduates employment opportunities in our Information Communication Technology Agency if they are interested in that. In that case, you need to take their documents and they start work by Monday. However, if the Immigration option opens up, you are at liberty to move from one job to another”, he said.

Earlier, Coordinator of the group, Mr. Edmond Osuma had told the governor of their challenges since the Immigration recruitment exercise of March 14 2014 that since the incident happened it has been a serious problem getting in contact with the Controller of Immigration.

He solicited the assistance of the governor to enable the group see the immigration authorities and requested the governor’s magnanimity to alleviate the hardship of the victims.
The victims told the governor that while they paid one thousand naira each, online, before going for the recruitment, they are yet to get a refund one year after the tragedy.

Mrs patience Faka jonathan knows her limit, she won't dare go to kano and shout "holy ghost fire" or say north should not vote for men who keep their women in purdah. But for her not to go to northern part, show the level of ethnic divisive & religion politics president jonathan and his wife ha introduce to nigeria.

This son of a stinking mother won't stop campaigning for APC, he can't do without mentioning/campaigning for Buhari/APC in a day. Ayo Fayose and Femi fani-kayode seem to be APC moles in PDP, since both of them where once in tinubu camp before joining PDP
