PoliticsRe: The 10 Poorest States In Nigeria+See The State With The Highest Poverty Rate(pic by FKO81(m): 7:44am On Nov 29, 2015
stephenduru:
The National Bureau of Statistics has released
[s]data listing the 10 poorest states in Nigeria after
a recent survey was carried out on the bureau’s
website.

1. Sokoto

It is listed as the poorest state in Nigeria with a
poverty rate of 81.2%. The state is known for its
hostile climatic conditions with normal day
temperature as high as 45 Degrees Celsius. Most
parts of the state are rural areas and over eighty
percent (80%) of the inhabitants of Sokoto
practice one form of agriculture or another.

2. Katsina

This state in North central Nigeria has the
highest poverty prevalence among all states in
the region.

3. Adamawa

Created in 1991 from the extinct Gongola state,
Adamawa has of late been terrorized by the Boko
Haram terrorists, disrupting its economic
development and growth.

4. Gombe

Another North eastern state which suffers
sporadic attacks from terrorists.

5. Jigawa
It is situated in the north-western part of the
country. It is mostly populated by the Hausa/
Fulani, who are spread throughout the state. It
has a 74.1 percent poverty rate.

6. Plateau
It is the twelfth largest state of Nigeria, and is
haunted by terrorist attacks and tribal clashes
from time to time, especially clashes between
Fulani herdsmen and its inhabitants.

7. Ebonyi

It is the only south-eastern state among the top
10 poorest states.

8. Bauchi
In Hausa the word Bauchi means, the land of
freedom and tourism. However, recent Boko
Haram adventures in the area, though few, have
driven tourists away from the area.

9. Kebbi
It is bordered by Sokoto State, Niger State, Dosso
Region in the Republic of Niger and the nation of
Benin. The recently concluded Sir Ahmadu Bello
International Airport (SABIA), stands out as one
of Nigeria’s most sophisticated airports and is
expected to boost the state’s economy.

10. Zamfara

The governor of Zamfara was blasted for the
“alarming scope of economic dangers and its
potential threat to the economic development of
the state,” by the Zamfara Budget Working
Group.

Niger is the state with the lowest poverty rate
which is 33.8%. It is followed by Osun (37.9%)
and Ondo (45.7%). Bayelsa (47%) and Lagos
(48.6%) have less than 50% poverty rate.
The average poverty rate in the Northwest
geopolitical zone is 71.4%, which remained the
highest in the said area. It is followed by the
Northeast region which has 69.1% and the North
central region which has 60.7%.
Poverty is least dominant in the Southwest
(49.8%), South-South (55.5%), and South-East
regions (59.5%)[/s]
Oluwale make up list, the last time I checked Ebonyi state is more sustainable than Osun and Ekiti state. Kindly check NBS and stop deceiving gullible minds.

I am from Nteje, Oyi LGA, did all my schooling there, read law in unizik, residing and practising in awka...i hope this qualifies as living in Anambra? Now about roads, Omor, Anaku, Enugu-Otu in Anambra East and its environs dont have good roads. Have you been to these areas i mentioned before? In fact for you to get to Enugu-Otu from Aguleri junction a bike man will charge you not less than 1k and you will get to a place you will enter a boat(pontu) in order to cross the river. Anambra West is the same too as Oroma-Etiti, Nzam, Olu and its environs dont have tarred roads. on Ogbaru, i have been to Atani(Atani has road but it stopped at Osamala or something like that), Akili-Ogidi, Akili-Ozuzu and environs are yet to have a good road. all these places are within Anambra North, I'm from Anambra North. I guess that informed the decision for power shift to the zone so that the Governor will develop their own areas too
So why are you complaining, the former governor Obi did a lots in your area and the current governor is doing great, no state is 100% developed in Africa, governance is a process, you don't expect Obiano to turn your area to las Vegas over night

VickJames:
I'm happy for the different developments in my state and I am also in high spirit because my mum just came back from anambra state to Lagos after staying there for 3months. My mum did not want to come back home to us oooo!!!! shocked we had call and beg the woman to listen to the cries of her children that her recipe is missing in our stomach.

these are what she told me based on what i told her to research on before coming back to lagos:

1. She said that many anambraians are rushing home to build and that the place we are staying in awka is already filled with houses bought and built by some rich guys in Obodo-Igbo. she said I should advice anyone who wants to buy land to rush and buy now that these men dont have joy with the large expanse of land they are buying. To be sincere, I need to start saving before i will start renting 3bedroom flat in my fatherland now. maka ihe neme kita dikwa serious.

2. She said the major reason why she didnt want to come to lagos is the peace and serenity of the environment, unlike the busy and dusty environment she will expose herself to in lagos. she buttressed her point with the fact that there is enough electric power and close access to our indigenous food with indigenous hand making it. the air is free from CO2.

3. She said that the environment where we stay in awka is undergoing renovation and our village have tarred basically because the village links to another major road. in all, she said that many people are coming back home especially in the north for their safety, so they are trying to build and do businesses in the east.

4. she said she went for a thanksgiving mass in a village close to ekwulobia (cant remember now). the place is funny sha. they were giving bags of rice to the priest. she asked the people there why rice? or they did not hear that the price of rice in the market is over 10thousand naira. they told her that they plant rice in their farms and its easier to get rice than the normal cocoyam in the village. My mum was shocked that things were happening and she didnt know that things have really changed in the east.

5. i told her that we only get oil from the riverine areas of the state. she looked at me and said that my cousin's wife father is collecting indigene money in Nri village for the oil been explored in that region. I am not too sure about this info but i think she might be right.

I, as an anambraian in face and in attitude hereby tell everyone that I am proud of my state. I am also warning other anambraians out there to please be quick in your decision-making to build and invest home because our brothers who left the north will end up renting an apartment for you when u get home.

thanks and God bless.
Your mum is right bro, Anambra state is fast developing
