A passenger airplane belonging to Emirates, a leading airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, coming from India, has crash-landed and exploded at Dubai International Airport.

An Emirates passenger jet has crash landed at Dubai Airport this morning before exploding into a massive fireball on the runway.

Thick black smoke could be seen rising over Dubai International Airport after an Emirates Boeing 777, carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew was forced into an emergency landing at around 12.45pm local time.

There are reports the landing gear for the plane, which had flown from Trivandrum International Airport in India, may not have come down fully prior to touching down. Other reports claimed a fire had started mid-air before landing.

Dramatic footage shows the aircraft exploding in a fireball on the runway, with the force of the blast throwing a huge metal panel from the plane into the air.

A 28-year-old man, Modiu Diallo, was on Monday arraigned in a Surulere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl in a mosque.

The accused with no fixed address is facing a three-count charge bordering on rape.

Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence at about 6:00a.m., on July 13, at Iponri Central Mosque, Surulere, Lagos.

“It is a shameful act and that should not be condoled,” she said.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that a man chopped off the hand of a member of his extended family over land dispute in the state.

The suspect, Jude Boroh allegedly attacked Morgan Ekure, a state civil servant with with a cutlass.

Spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the ugly incident which happened in Emevor, Isoko North area of the state. What led to this madness?

It was said that the incident occurred around 5pm after a meeting of an extended family to demarcate and adjust a land boundary. According to Punch, the resolution of the meeting between Edivri and Othiro families did not please some members of the Othiro family.

A member of the Edivri family, Mr Edward Akure said the suspect had before the meeting threatened to eliminate members of the [Edivri] family over the land.

According to him, the meeting had gone peacefully, before the suspect attacked the victim...

Edward said previous threats by the suspect’s family to eliminate members of the Edivri family were not taking seriously by police at Otor-Owhe where they had earlier reported until this happened.

There was chaos on Sunday on Orobiyi Street, in the Alagbado area of Lagos State after a 22-year-old fashion designer, Lukmon Shotunde, slumped and died.

Community youths were said to have attacked one Taofeek Sodiq, who had a disagreement with the victim earlier that day. The youths were about lynching the suspect when policemen from the Alagbado division rescued him.

Doyen Naija gathered that the suspect had sent his son on an errand with N500. The 10-year-old was said to have been defrauded by a man who sat in the front of Shotunde’s locked shop.

The boy’s father reportedly accused Shotunde of colluding with the fraudster, insisting on getting back the N500. Sodiq, in the heat of argument, allegedly told the deceased, “You will not live to open your shop tomorrow, if my money is not returned.”

Popular Jamaican dancehall musician Beenie Man, has contracted the deadly Zika virus.

The Grammy award winner who was supposed to be performing in Drake’s OVO concert in Canada, announced that he has contracted the deadly mosquito-borne Zika virus.

Announcing it via his Instagram page, Beenie Man said the Canadian government denied him visa as a result of the disease. He also revealed he had the dengue virus also from mosquitoes.

Two Nigerian siblings aged 11 and 10, have been rescued in the Mediterranean on Friday while trying to cross from Libya to Europe with their mother.

A man, identified as Jacob Nwachukwu from Abala in Obingwa area of Abia State, has cut off his wife’s left hand over allegation of infidelity.

The wife, Mrs. Nwadiokeonu Nwachukwu, is now at a hospital in Aba, while her severed hand had been taken to her husband’s village at Abala for burial. The sad incident happened on Monday, at Ogbor Hill, Aba, where the woman had lived for years, while the husband stayed in the village.

A female co-tenant of Mrs Nwachukwu, who craved anonymity, revealed what happened:
She told Vanguard that the couple had lived in the city for years before the husband lost his job and had to relocate to the village, leaving his wife, a trader, in the city.

She said, “The couple had always quarreled any time the man visited his wife in the city, to the extent that all the tenants are aware and intervened in their quarrels.”

Two ministerial nominees at the Senate Screening on July 26th failed to recite the National anthem and pledge properly.

The nominees, Ibrahim Isa from Niger state and Vivian Nwunaku Okeke from Anambra state mixed up the National Anthem and pledge when the chairman of the senate committee on Foreign Affairs, Monsurat Sunmonu asked them to recite it and a member of the committee, Senator James Manager, saved them from the embarrassing moment by correcting them immediately. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 31yrs old man, identified as Damilola, for allegedly raping a 25-year-old lady in Omole Estate, Ojodu, Lagos.

It was learnt that the lady, Favour (real names withheld) and Damilola were members of a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and she had invited him to her birthday party on Tuesday.

The head of Catholic churches worldwide, Pope Francis was walking towards the alter in Poland, when he took a huge tumble and fell on the ground.

A group of other priests raced to help the Pope back to his feet just before the service began. Pope Francis was arriving to celebrate a mass at the Southern Black Madonna shrine of Częstochowa to mark the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland.

Despite the fall, the 79-year-old Pontiff got back to his feet and continued taking mass in front of thousands of people at the venue and millions more watching on live streams around the world.

The police and some reported group of about 50 armed gunmen are currently engaged in gun battle around akesan junction, in Igando/LASU area of Lagos state.

According to multiple reports making rounds online and social media, there is heavy gunshot currently being heard at the Ewedogbo area of Igando, along LASU road in Lagos.
According to some of the eyewitnesses, the gunshots are being fired by militants who invaded the community while others claim it’s from heavily armed robbers.

Tragedy As Church Member Crushes Another Church Member To Death In Church Premises


On Friday, July 22, worshipers at Word of Faith Christian Centre, Kano, were thrown into shock when a learner Gloria Okocha, accidentally crushed another member of the church Remi Nwokolor, to death.

According to report, the tragedy took place at Nomansland, Sabon Gari, Kano. Gloria was reportedly trying to drive out of the church premises when she suddenly hit the victim before colliding against the wall of the church.

It was complete commotion and panic that took over a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God recently.

The church located at Santos bus stop in the Isawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, was attacked on Sunday by some gunmen who walked in and abducted the pastor during the service.

According to Punch Metro, the pastor, identified only as Bajomo, was whisked away by the gunmen, who came to the church as if they were new members.

It was learnt that the pastor, who was abducted around 7am, was the first to reach the parish and was preparing for a workers’ meeting which usually preceded the Sunday service.

Aregbesola (40 ) is one of the women arrested by the officials of the Lagos State government for using their children to beg for alms in return for stipends. to to her , the person who hires her child always pays her between N1,000 and N1,500 daily.

The woman claimed she had four other children. According to her , the first two children attend school somewhere in Ikotun area. She said: “I stay at Ijora Olopa though I am from Ibadan in Oyo State. I work with a food vendor, who pays me N 300 daily.

The eldest of my children is 11 years old. ” Aregbeshola is now being detained in Alausa Police Station alongside other four women.

Two of the women are biological mothers of the rescued infants, while two others were commercial beggars from northern part of the country.

Aregbesola, who was the only Yoruba woman among the suspects, interpreted for others, who spoke in Hausa and couldn’t explain why they ventured into the illegal business. She claimed that she and other women only release their babies around 5pm. and get them back with money by 7pm. daily.

But when asked if it was possible for the beggars to pay her N1,500 daily for using the baby for two hours, she kept mum. Two of the women, Hadiza Nosiru and Salamotu Salisu, hail from Jigawa State.

The infants were taken to the Rehabilitation and Training Centre at Majidun, Ikorodu for shelter as the government vowed to immediately commence investigation and possibly prosecute the women.

Speaking on the development , the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Uzamat Akinbile – Yussuf , said the government would not condone such heartless attitude. The commissioner said that efforts would be intensified to get rid of street begging in the state.

The Lagos State Police Command is on the trail of a suspected burglar who allegedly posted his picture on the Instagram account of his victim.

The command is working on the lead that the suspect, whose name had yet to be identified, mistakenly posted the picture with one of the phones reportedly stolen from the victim, Sam Abimbola.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect had sneaked into the victim’s residence on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, at about 3am on Tuesday, carting away phones, a laptop and a passport.

The burglar was said to have gained entry into the apartment through the kitchen.

He also reportedly made away with Abimbola’s wife’s jewellery and the identity card of his sister-in-law, who lived with the family.

While lamenting the loss, Abimbola reportedly got a call at about 7am from a friend, who alerted him to a picture posted with one of the stolen phones on his (Abimbola’s) Instagram page.

Abimbola told our correspondent that he had woken up around 5am to prepare for work when he discovered the house had been burgled.

He said, “I slept around 2am on that day and my sister-in-law woke me up around 5am, saying that her bag was scattered in the living room. That was when I discovered that a burglar had entered into my apartment. He cut through the window and got access into the house through the kitchen.

“He entered into my bedroom, stole my passport, laptop, two phones – a Samsung Note 5 and a Samsung tablet – my sister-in-law’s ID card and her money. The burglar also stole my wife’s accessories and took some bottles of water from the fridge.

“I don’t know the extent of what was stolen from my wife’s valuables because she was not around. He ransacked a bag where my credentials were but fortunately, he didn’t go with them.

“Around 7am, he mistakenly posted his picture on my Instagram account with my phone. I am sure he must have used the phone to take the picture.

“I have reported to the police at the Ago Palace division and some of the policemen said he was a known face at a joint in the area.”

The sister-in-law, who did not want her name in print, urged the police to track down the suspect and bring him to book.

“I am certain he was the one who attacked our house. He could not have sold the phone to somebody before 7am when he posted the picture,” she added.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the burglary to our correspondent, said the police were on the trail of the suspect.

Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, added that the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had instructed the division to transfer the case to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

She said, “The victim reported the matter at the station and the police will ensure that the suspect is tracked down. The CP has instructed that the case should be transferred to SARS in Ikeja for discreet investigation.”

A 54-year-old former councillor of Sapele Local Government Council in Delta State, Mr. John Onose, has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.

The incident, it was gathered, happened on Tuesday afternoon after the ex-council lawmaker allegedly lured the kid to a nearby bush around Fovie Street before forcefully sleeping with the victim.

The police in Kano is currently investigating the rape and murder of a newly married woman in Sha’iskawa village ‎Danbatta local government of Kano state on Saturday July 16th.

The woman’s husband who is a businessman, was away in Abuja for business when the attack happened. The couple married just a few days before the attack.

Kano state police command spokesperson, Magaji Majiya, ‎while confirming the incident, said when the case was reported on Sunday July 17th, the police arrived the scene and confirmed the woman had been raped and then stabbed. The knife used by her attacker was found at the scene of the incident. He said no arrest has been made but investigation is ongoing.
