Nollywood producer, Kunle Afolayan while commenting on the recent controversy involving movies with elements of pornography in Nollywood, said that although such movies are against Nigerian culture, he wouldn’t be surprised if people patronise such films.
“Sex sells more than anything in the world" he said.
He advised that such films be banned if the National Film and Video Censors Board finds them unworthy for the society.

What's happening to all these musical groups - the gospel ones for that matter? Yet this is the only surviving gospel group in Nigeria.
You will recall that Kenny K'ore quit the Infinity group (Olori oko singers) a while back and he is presently doing great as a solo artiste...since he quit the group, Infinity has been off the music scene - they have not released any album in a while!
Well it appears the same fate is about to befall the Midnight crew as one of its' pillars Mike Abdul is quitting.
When the group actually started years ago (2001), they were about ten but after the release of their first album (Fusion) 70% decided to quit leaving just four of them (Mike Abdul, Gbenga Oyebola, Patricia Uwaje and Odunayo Ojo). These four released the last three albums (Tungba unlimited, Igwe and king of nations).
Now the bad news: The once sweet beautiful relationship the group members shared is starting to fall to pieces but it doesn't have to do with money issues. They are refusing to say a word about it as they are presently on a tour in South Africa but it's either Mike is quitting or the group is falling apart.

Gone are those days when fans opened twitter accounts in their idol's names because they want to show their love and admiration for them. Now, some have taken it to a worrisome level.They are fearlessly denouncing the original accounts of these celebrities.
A few celebs affected by these fake accounts include Basket Mouth, Tonto Dikeh, Bovi,Jim Iyke,Uche Jumbo etc....who have several accounts in their names. It is frustrating because sometimes,these fake accounts gather up more unsuspecting followers than the real accounts...they also send out some negative and damaging tweets
It now depends on followers to be careful and use their common sense to know which is real or not (most holders of fake accounts are dumb anyways)..

A granddaughter of Nelson Mandela has harshly criticized a longtime associate of the former president and anti-apartheid leader, in an escalation of a dispute over funds linked to one of the world's most revered figures.

Tukwini Mandela accused lawyer George Bizos of insulting her mother, slandering the Mandela family name and spreading "blatant lies and innuendo" in a bitter rift over control of two companies linked to 94-year-old Mandela. The main purpose of the companies is to channel funds from the sale of handprint artwork by Mandela for the benefit of his family.

"Please have the decency to behave as an elder if you care for my grandfather and his name, which catapulted you into undeserved stardom," Tukwini Mandela wrote in an open letter that was emailed to The Associated Press on Tuesday. She urged Bizos, a stalwart of the struggle for equal rights in South Africa, to act in a manner "befitting of your status" in society.

In a statement sent to AP, Bizos said he had not been disrespectful to Nelson Mandela or his family.

"I have been a close friend and supporter of the family for over six decades," he said. He added that he would leave it to a court to decide on issues raised in a legal case brought against him and several associates by Makaziwe Mandela, Tukwini's mother.

The disagreement comes as Nelson Mandela, who last appeared in public in 2010, receives medical care at his Johannesburg home after several hospital visits in recent months. He is seen globally as a symbol of reconciliation and sacrifice after spending 27 years in prison during racist white rule and then leading South Africa's transition to democratic, all-race elections in 1994.

The dispute over the funds troubles many South Africans for whom corruption, high crime rates and economic inequality have tainted the new South Africa. Mandela was South Africa's first black president and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Makaziwe Mandela and her sister Zenani have launched a court case against Bizos and other associates of Nelson Mandela, alleging they should not remain directors of Harmonieux Investment Holdings and Magnifique Investment Holdings because they were not properly appointed. The case also alleges that the trio has neglected its duties at the helm of the companies.

Earlier this week, The Star newspaper quoted 84-year-old Bizos, who defended Mandela during the apartheid years, as saying Makaziwe Mandela's goal was to take some company money, estimated to be $1.3 million, without providing details of how it would be used.

"This woman wanted to take over the money, not for any specific purpose, and distribute it to members of the family," he said. "That is contrary to the provisions of the trust. Therefore we refused to give her the money."

Norton Rose, a Johannesburg law firm representing Bizos in the dispute with Mandela's daughters, said Bizos' position will be outlined in papers likely to be filed in court in mid-May.

In an interview last week with South Africa's Talk Radio 702, Norton Rose director Michael Hart said Nelson Mandela gave "explicit instructions" for Bizos and two associates, lawyer Bally Chuene and Tokyo Sexwale, a businessman and politician, to oversee the disputed companies. They have done so "without any charge or remuneration," he said.

In the letter, Tukwini Mandela said her mother is a "highly educated and accomplished businesswoman in her own right," and that Bizos' reported comments showed a lack of respect for Nelson Mandela and his advocacy on behalf of women.

"I doubt you would ever refer to the women in your life as `this woman,'" Tukwini Mandela wrote.

"You and your peddlers of falsehood have spent the whole of last week casting aspersions on my family, spreading blatant lies and innuendo, hoping that a trial through the media will deter us from defending our name and legacy," she wrote.

Tukwini Mandela is the marketing director of House of Mandela, a winemaking company. Two other granddaughters of Mandela are starring in a U.S. television reality show titled "Being Mandela."

Bizos, who was born in Greece, defended Mandela during the Rivonia trial in 1960s that led to the African National Congress leader's conviction on sabotage charges and a sentence of life imprisonment.

Bizos works at the Legal Resources Center, a human rights group in South Africa. He has recently cross-examined the national police commissioner and other witnesses before a panel investigating the shooting deaths of 34 striking miners by police last year.

Omawumi's lasso of concert went down last night and it was just there er- great to an extent!
Though the show started 2hours late and not many celebs showed up (y, I don't know) yet Omawumi achieved what no female artiste in Naija has ever achieved - she successfully pulled off the SHOW.
One of the highpoints of the show was Omawumi's Ekwe performance with Onyeka onwenu, everyone screamed for joy and gave a standing ovation when the Queen stepped on stage to join her daughter in the beautiful rendition.
And then the 4 sisters' (Seyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, Waje, and omawonder herself) rendition of the ever green song 'No Woman, No Cry' and Destiny Child's Amen by Destiny child was another beautiful performance - in fact Waje was damn so gooooooooood especially when she took the highest musical note...wow!
Other notable performances include the joint performance with Wizkid, Timaya and 2face - oh by the way, seeing 2face for the first time after his return from Dubai brought smiles to people's face....Omawumi had to thank Annie Idibia for releasing her husband!

Oh and then she introduced her 86 year old grandpa or iz it uncle - not too sure but she accredited her bottom belle hit track to him, According to Oma "he is the originator of the song, I only remixed it. Omawumi's lasso of concert went down last night and it was just there er- great to an extent!
Though the show started 2hours late and not many celebs showed up (y, I don't know) yet Omawumi achieved what no female artiste in Naija has ever achieved - she successfully pulled off the SHOW.
One of the highpoints of the show was Omawumi's Ekwe performance with Onyeka onwenu, everyone screamed for joy and gave a standing ovation when the Queen stepped on stage to join her daughter in the beautiful rendition.


And then the 4 sisters' (Seyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, Waje, and omawonder herself) rendition of the ever green song 'No Woman, No Cry' and
Destiny Child's Amen by Destiny child was another beautiful performance - in fact Waje was damn so gooooooooood especially when she took the highest musical note...wow!

Other notable performances include the joint performance with Wizkid, Timaya and 2face - oh by the way, seeing 2face for the first time after his return from Dubai brought smiles to people's face....Omawumi had to thank Annie Idibia for releasing her husband!
Oh and then she introduced her 86 year old grandpa or iz it uncle - not too sure but she accredited her bottom belle hit track to him, According to Oma "he is the originator of the song, I only remixed it. He used to sing it 50 years ago, round the house...." and then she made the old man sing on stage - of course everyone clapped!

Celebrities that attended: 2face and wife, timaya, essence, waje, tiwa n tbillz, wizkid n tania, onyeka onwenu, timi dakolo, seyi shay, sasha and a few others.
In conclusion, big kudos to Omawumi for the successful concert, and she even went as far as going to thank the guests with the regular tickets (humility) unlike some concerts where the guests with the regular invite are treated like nobodies #kokoconcert.

Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has denied media reports that he has secretly married in the United States.
There were reports that the actor, in spite of declaring publicly that he is single, is married to Harrinia Alexander Dembele, who is said to be a nurse, model and an actress based in the US.
A marriage certificate from the Circuit Court in Arlington, Virgin Island, US circulating on several social media sites seems to confirm the marriage.
But John Dumelo, who is currently in the US took to twitter Thursday night saying...
“I wish I was really married…the fake marriage certificate really looks good. Thumbs up to my crew filmin my clothing line documentary.” ....
