Yorubas though knowing fully well how Azikiwe and Igbos betrayed Southern region to enthrone Tafawa Balewa from North, while Azikiwe was made ceremonial president with no real power, didn't hold grudges against them, instead Yorubas still tried to reach out to them to work with South but to no avail.

I saw a clip on one thread of a British man narrating how Azikiwe was blackmailed by the British Government to become their puppet and help them give power to the North (that the British feel they can control) or they send him to jail because of his misdeeds and bad debts on his neck.. the Igbos will pretend not to see that, so they won't come under attack.
The British man called Awolowo an upright man that was incorruptible and would not allow himself to be used like Nnamdi Azikiwe, the same Awolowo was found guilty of frivolous crimes and sentenced to 10 years in jail while criminals like Azikiwe walked freely.
