Legitimate work still the best. The peace of mind it gives is better than living your life hiding and always in fear of arrest.

The problem is that this is no longer just about people who used benefits improperly or left bills unpaid. There are people who paid in full, brought proof, and still faced the same scrutiny and refusals. That is why many of us are saying this goes beyond the usual excuse of unpaid bills or overstay. Once people who complied fully are still being treated this way, it starts to look like a broader clampdown affecting Nigerians in this category, not just defaulters.
Did they apply for medical visa or send change of intent letters? You know change of intent was acceptable for sometime then they stopped honouring it.

So people who have given birth in the U.S. in the past are getting banned a lot? I didn’t know o. Hope they have intent letter to the embassy. I think if you have ever gone on child birth journey to the U.S., just stay away from the U.S. entirely this period. They can bring up anything and reversing these things are not easy at all
Yes @ ban. A lot of them don't get visas anymore. They even question long stays of many years ago nowadays. The only saving grace for people is the truth. Never lie on your applications.

Not in all cases ma’m. In my case , I paid my bills in full. If you track back here you will see where I asked on this platform back then that I was offered a form of financial assistance(a type that the hospital assured me was ok for my status). People here adviced me not to take it and I did not take it. Because any money taken in the U.S. is tax payers money. Part of the documents I attached to the embassy to challenge this ban , was evidence of full payment for both missionary journeys I had done in the past. I didn’t even go to a cheap state or cheap place. I paid 32k dollars in full!!! I say “not cheap “ because The state I went doesn’t even give the usual self-pay discount. I’m glad I didn’t use tax Payers money otherwise this ban would not have been removed .

I hope my post will really help people be truthful in immigration processes.
Thats it. Doing the right thing always pays years to come. My friends got banned too. I warned them but they kept arguing with me. Ine was even deported. I'm happy everything worked put for you. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Kemo88, I am very sorry for the entire situation you endured, especially since you didn't expect to face such an experience. If prejudice hadn't been a factor, why would she insist on interviewing you when your visit to the embassy was only as an escort, not for an interview? Still, I’m relieved that the ban on your record has finally been lifted and your persistence helped out big time. I feel upset about this witch hunt targeting Nigerians who have had babies in the USA. I’ve spoken with women of other nationalities who also had their babies in the US, and they aren’t facing such harsh scrutiny. It’s heartbreaking that things have come to this. Nigeria’s struggling economy seems to have only made it easier for these injustices to occur. Holding a Nigerian passport in this day and age almost feels like a death sentence.
Did they pay the full amount? I think the major issue we have are the people that used the benefits they weren't supposed to use. It was the norm for years until the clampdown. Just like the overstay issues.

Lekan2348:
Like i explained earlier, the white paper being received means that you’re qualified, you’re approved, same thing but what is written on the paper is the fact that they can’t issue you visa because of the ban.

So you have to apply again and interview again when the ban is lifted. And to apply again you have to pay again and schedule interview again from scratch.
Na wa ooo. They should have just suspended interviews and resume later. The application is not cheap.

Honestly if you have a visa interview this period of the ban and you cannot reschedule, don’t just bother going. It’s paining me that I wasted my time. Even tried to prepare small. Got 2 hours of sleep. Got to embassy by 6am cause my interview was 6.30. Lined up. Did my interview around after 8 and nothing.

It was a waste of my time, I would have rather not even gone at all.

Some people there even had hope that magically they will receive the visa even while clearly seeing interviewers telling people there is a full ban
So sorry about your experience. Thank you for sharing it. Does it mean you have to pay again? Usually the white paper signified approval. Did they give anyone another colour or everyone got the white paper?

Too long. It was a 20 mins interview. No jokes. People there were surprised it was issued. I could hear their gasps when i got the white paper. My saving grace? I never told a single lie on all my applications. They checked all my records over the years. It was my toughest interview. This is why I keep telling people here don't lie. Once they notice a single inconsistency, that's it.

Good day everyone. My question is not related to this but I would still like to ask just incase someone has the information i need. I have a valid b1/b2 tourist visa valid till 2029. i have previously been in the US about 3 times before now and I plan visiting again in March 2026. I bought my roundtrip ticket last year with the intention to visit a family friend and stay there for about 4 months. However, with the recent updates and news flying around, I heard that the i-94 stamped for people who have travelled this year is just a few days (hearsay). Now my question is this, should i carrry on with my plan of staying in the US from march to July (4 months) or reschedule my return flight to stay for just a few weeks? If i carry on with my previous plan of spending 4 months, will i be admitted by the CBP officer or will my duration of stay raise unnecessary questions/concerns or even denial at the port of entry?
Any advice or useful information from recent travelers will be appreciate.
Thanks in advance.
It depends on what you are going to do. If it is just holidays, then you need to make it 3weeks max. I've stayed 3months but that was many years ago. I was questioned about it at the embassy. Scratch that ,I was heavily interrogated about it. That vist was many years ago. They brought it up years later. Just don't do it!

Everyday I'm grateful to have been employed by my employer
I'm really glad I got shortlisted, I'm glad I was patient enough that evening I had my final interview.

Because that evening, honestly I was tired of waiting at the lobby, i was already exhausted from waiting, because I had to stay back in the office, considering the scheduled time would be me on transit to mainland. I had waited waited, and was starting to get impatient, and I didn't even bother reading anything more, I'm like residual knowledge would do it.

Then boom! a face appeared, I looked overly serious, he asked me to loosen up, then the interview turns a tete a tete, what he asked, I don't even know, the core values of the bank.... me that have forgotten.

Then I remember the shortlisting test was hell and chaotic, I'm glad I walked this process in 2021 if I'm correct.
I'm glad I wasn't comfortable with what and where I was then, I'm glad I took the risks, I'm actually risk aversed, but then......

My job is really helping me to do this First born responsibility fair enough....in my last job I struggled a lot...
I was just an angry bird unnecessarily, commuting Ojuelegba to Victoria Island everyday was annoying, waking up early to join my ride was hell, Monday meetings gives me palpitations, I'll literally tell Tonia, to be praying while I'm in a meeting, and I'm to present......

The environment looks okay, but beneath is a well of toxicity, chai!.

I'm grateful my offer letter from my new employer, came when I clocked 6 months, I resigned without looking back, to say my supervisor left 2 months before I left too. Mama literally advised me to leave, though at the time she left, we discovered some beans she had cooked, oh boy! it was on me... wasn't funny.

This morning, I'm looking back at those years, where I am now, where I am going, I'm really Grateful
God had helped me honestly.....

Then presently, when I'm having a fair overwhelmness, if I remember my compensation, I'm relieved that, okay okay, easy easy, I'll be fine...lol
Last week, we had journeyed to Lasu, Ojo for storm, the sun that beat my head was enough to get me bald, plus the pool car doesn't have an AC, it was hell, the rain came, the sun came, and I was not on my product shirt, I wore my fine gown and shoe, I had to go like that, so my supervisor wouldn't say, I don't want to go... The traffic was terrific, we learnt they were having Convocation, it made the road worse...

We spent hours on the road, it wasn't funny, but then I remembered my pay check, I was consoled.

Then I'm trying to make every moment count, the unit I am currently, I believe strongly, it's for a while, I'm learning everything I can here, you know as an Account Officer, the role is a lot. Half year appraisal is around the corner, I'm really trusting God for my figures, you know.

I need account too, help me help me..lol
My budget this year eehn! it's so ridiculous, afi k'olorun saanu.

In summary, some risks are worth taking, just do it, with God by your side.
I enjoyed reading this. Are you still working there?

Attend, you've already paid. Note for b1b2 from Jan 21 2026 , you maybe Subject to visa bond. It is the officer that interviews you that determines if you pay and what you pay.

Since you said tourism, note you can only enter the US from 3 airports.
Boston Logan airport
Jfk New York
Washington DC Dulles

This would affect the flight airline you book because your port of entry must be one of these before you get to your final destination.

So think on this if this tourism trip is important for you.
