Additionally, I have a trip outside the country for 17th Feb leaving me with 4weeks from dropoff safe instead of 8 weeks advised by the US consulate. Does anyone know the average processing time for iwp from dropoff to pickup in lagos

Go for your trip. There's no guarantee your passport will come out in 4 weeks. They are almost unpredictable.

Good afternoon, Everyone. Happy 2024.

I tried to book an IW appointment and after being timed out a few times, i got the following message : “Your account has been frozen for suspicious activity, and you will not be able to access it for up to 72 hours. Your account will be unfrozen automatically after that time. Our call center agents will not be able to assist you with unfreezing your account or scheduling your appointment until then.”

1. Should i worry about being frozen for suspicious activity? I honestly just tried more than 2ice to access the page.
2. Is it advisable to check after, say 48 hours?

Thank you

It is automated. It is because you checked many times a day. Check just twice day when the unfreeze the account. Morning and afternoon/ evening.
Don't check after 48hrs. Just chill for 72hrs. It happens a lot so it us pretty normal.

Hello
I'm planning on going on vacation during their midterm break in Feb, as Easter won't be possible due to obligations at home and work.
A friend is telling me that we might be turned back at POE because the kids are believed to be in session and it might look as if we have immigrant intent.
Anyone had any issues with similar circumstances at POE?

Are you in Nigeria? If yes then it looks fishy to be travelling during mid term as mid term is usually one week max. Except the kids will be out of school for sometime just to go on a holday. It is a dicey situation sha.Pick another travel period to avoid issues.

Good day everyone. Happy new year please I would apprecaite any helpful information. MYESLEF and my hsuabnd already have a our US visa which would expire around MARCH this year. We would Love to travel with our daughter as she just turn 2 . We have paid for her Visa DS160 fee. My question,Is it possible we get her an interview date for her before our visa expires this March or what would be suggestion in getting her an interview. In-between. Dis is our 3 time we getting our own visa and we only used it's once we were unable to use our US visa during covid. ANY SUGGESTION THAT CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE TO US WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Call the embassy to get suggestions. If you do it on your own, the likelihood of getting a date before your visa expires is very slim.

Don't get confused. Just call the embassy on their customer care line. Please come back and update the thread.

People don't understand that each case is different. Personal experience differs. Please abide by visa rules cos I'm sure they most have made a note on your file. They do that a lot.

They said that or you wrote this wrong?
Because it's not true.

Please you cannot give birth in the US with a tourism visa. Which is the category he/ she applied for. Which the applicant filled in the ds 160 form. If an applicant wants to go for delivery then they apply specifically for it and it will reflect in the ds 160 form. The officers go by what is written in the ds 160 form. This is the reason for refusal of visa renewal for many people. Border patrol might not give so much stress but consular officers will refuse based on the fact that the applicant lied on the previous application. I have seen people that paid the normal price without discount yet they have been refused visas for years simply because their visa was for tourism according to their ds 160.

I just wanted to add that you don’t necessarily need to use Ziploc bags. Any regular plastic bag will do. Labeling is also not necessarily needed

POE differs. The best is to be prepared for anything.

No need to apologise. Anyone can answer your questions.
Can the applicant really sponsor himself? Does he have enough funds for the holiday and also extra in his account? Does he have ties that will bring him back to Nigeria if he is issued a visa. Is he applying for visit/ japa? If japa is on his mind then he should apply for student visa.

Or start a new one will I still maintain my interview date or it is going to start afresh automatically with me losing my initial date ? I wanted to edit something out of the form please!! Can someone enlighten me abegi

You can fill a new one. Then change the form details on your profile. If you can search this forum some people have done it before and it worked. Just use keywords and type in the search column. The info will pop up. Don't panic everything will work out fine.

Thanks for responding , the conference is actually for Japa.

Is the US embassy not granting visit visa based on conference anymore?

They do but it has to be really important to your job. That's why I said you should check with your organisation associations. Don't just pick a random conference. Please don't japa via conference. It might look so easy and simple but it is no longer as favourable as it was then. You will just complicate your life.

Hey !

Okay it's only number 1 that is incorrect , that means you scored me 80 over 100%.

But sir ! Don't you think that your friend might have bought the house via a fraudulent means in the USA and that was the reason he or she was unable to get the visa renew ?

Abi Sir ? Let's assume that a Togolese businessman came to Nigeria and bought a mansion worth 200.M in Magodo - Lagos . Then he went back to Togo and after 6 months he wanted to come back to Nigeria to collect his rent or get notification to come and pay tax on the property and the Nigeria embassy in Togo denied him visa 😊. Do you think that is reasonable sir ?

I want to learn pls, kindly teach me sir .

US visas don't get issued based on logic. You should know that by now. Especially for Nigerians. That's why I keep telling you to respond based on experience not on logic or what you see on Google. It is far different from what is happening at Walter Carrington.

Sure, my plan is to visit and apply for study.

Please note that some visas come with conditions. You can only use it for the purpose you applied for. Entering US and deciding to stay back without adequate documentation will lead to a life of misery. Don't let anyone decieve you. Apply to colleges from Nigeria. Pick good courses and have a good reason for going to study in the US. I wish you all the best.

Hello everyone, I know the website says you can only apply for an emergency interview if you fall within certain categories. My question however is, is it possible for someone attending their son’s wedding ceremony to apply for an emergency interview? Especially if such person’s previous interview was canceled by the embassy.

Please share your thoughts, thank you!

Was it an emergency request that was cancelled or normal visa appointment? If it is a normal visa appointment then the person should write the embassy through their profile
Note that wedding does not classify as emergency.

Anyways Madam .. If you enter the US with B1/B2 (Tourist visa) or short visa as you wrote ..Yes you can change your visa status to Permanent Residency status (a.k.a the green card) all through citizenship ...thus ;

(1). You can buy house or property in the US while on non immigrant visa ..ie B1/B2...F1..L1..H1B..and TN visa. (not everyone can afford this route) 😌

(3). Recently (year 2023) , the US Citizenship and Immigration Service USCIS announced that those traveling to the US on B1/B2 visa can now apply for jobs and attend job interviews (it's a new development though) . I don't want to mention other LEGAL AVENUES because brevity is the soul of wit.

Despite the fact that the aforementioned process can be difficult and complicated to achieve , it is also not impossible to attain especially with the assistance of an immigration attorney.

Any other question ?

No 1 is actually incorrect. My friend bought a house and hasn't been able to renew her visa. Try to de give information based on experience na.
To switch from b1/b2 to resident when one gets into US is next to impossible. No one should be advised to take that risk.

Hello Good evening, I told you earlier to be nice in your response to people. Go to the previous thread and see how peaceful and informative it was. You have written so many wrong informations that make Nigerians getting a visa very tough.

Also, please can you try and limit your posts to three or four sentences? Reading your long posts is actually very dizzying. Just respond to questions with experience and don't run around with too many points. There is not gang up here, nobody pays anyone a kobo to answer questions here. We give info based on experience and experience of others around us. Please be calming down small small.

Hey !

@ Wunmi . Don't let anyone intimidate you into joining any group. It's not mandatory and joining group is not the basis or foundation reason of Nairaland. Anyone who cannot share information publicly here and mandating people to join a group has a personal intention. Nevertheless, i am not saying joining a free group that does not require money ís bad if that group will give you what you want .

Cool Down Wunmi. If you are a fresh applicant just login into your CGI page and pick your first appointment date . If you can travel i will advise pick Abuja because Abuja is naturally not crowdy as Lagos . After your first pick don't rush to reschedule.....Let me know how it goes . Nobody is a magician...we are all just trying .

There is God ..don't give up .

Seems like you just joined this forum. You should first find out how the groups work before you criticise them. Nobody pays a dime to any admin of the groups. Everyone puts in the work to find a near available date. If you are in the group and don't actively participate in date search you get booted out. The groups saved a lot of people last year. Nobody has time to come to nairaland to scream about a date pop up cos by the time you finish typing all the dates are gone. Those groups are the fastest ways to get updated. Abeg take it easy.

Hello all,

Please, I need your help.
I was recently refused an F2 Visa in Abuja Embassy.
During the course of the interview, the VO asked how long I have been married, and it's just 2 months before the interview, and the VO laid emphasis on it "just two months?", and the next thing was a blue paper.
Recently I got a new job with better pay, which will be barely 2 months if I plan to go for another interview in December, should I use this new job as a change in my circumstance?
Please, your suggestions are welcomed.

Secondly, I am in need of any F2 WhatsApp group link for mock session interview. Someone should please help me with one.

Thank you all.

OK. So your partner is already in the US? It makes no sense to refuse you. I think you should wait a while. Review the interview again before you reapply.

.....actually one reliable agent that got her date handled the Ds 160, she provide all the info herself.

She work with one of the LCDA here in Lag but the interview was don in Abj

She's going there to attend one of our cousins wedding,, she said the VO didn't even ask her for any doc.
She applied for visiting (B1B2).

If she put herself together, I will aske her more about the interview.

She use the host as a sponsorer (our anuty) as agreed btw them.
Note: she have all the info about our anuty who invited her for the son's wedding...

Host as sponsor is a red flag. You basically cannot go on a holiday you can't afford. So to them she is financially weak. She shouldn't apply again until her circumstances have changed. Also living in lagos and getting interviewed in Abuja is somehow sha.

I know of a family who used another person as their point of contact instead of their overstaying family member(of course they couldn’t use the person), the embassy linked them to that one who overstayed after they escaped and renewed about once or twice they refused them even refused the two sisters husbands who got their visas before he married the sisters just because of the link, all the family members have been refused repeatedly. They went from Abuja to Lagos to Abuja constant refusals.

Same with a family I know. One brother overstayed and got married. It affected the whole family till date.

My kid sis was deny, no much question although this is her first time, does it mean they don't give Visa to first timer again.

She couldn't eat since morning 😔

Who filled her form? Was it for tourism or school? Does she work? Can her salary take care of her trip? Who is she visiting? If you can please post her transcript so people with experience can weigh in.

At all! Asking how they got their US citizenship is not anyone's business .

All they ask are based on what you filled in your form I.e your economic and family ties here in Nigeria.

You can of course ask their status in the US but not how they got that status.

It is not what many discuss anyways.

Did you just say it is not the embassy's biz how someone migrated? LOL!!!!!!
Are you aware there's a place in the form where you are asked if you have immediate family in the US. You also need to indicate if they are residents/ citizens. The information they need is in the system without asking the person anything. Even on this forum we have seen it play out. It affects the outcome of visas.

The officer knows how they got their status by their pre checks and they usually don’t ask the person they’re interviewing because they already have their answers and yes I can say for a fact that it does affect, if they don’t find out the first time they will find out later.

I don't understand her/ his argument too. So many people have been rejected because of this issue. Even mothers of the residents. They think it is a joke When we shout people should be careful so that whatever decisions they take won't affect the whole family.

What will guarantee at least 80% success is your tie in Nigeria. That's always their focus. What is that thing that will bring you back after your visit. If you can answer this question them go ahead and apply. Also how did your brother travel? This will also determine the outcome of your interview.
