Mintek: Congrats flowwolf09...pre-offer letter (for the new role) follows.
Recall I stressed this fact that you'd be given a look-in for another role which the bank deems more suitable vis-a-vis your experience and background, as that email did not imply outright rejection.
I hope Ude25, greenafrica, yemicoal and others who got a similar email find solace in this cheering piece of news. That's correct.. |

coolme434: Looking at the last paragraph of that regret mail, it states the candidate would be considered for other position in the same unit,if the candidates would be ok with d role, the person can still be hopeful, perhaps other roles like enquiry officer, asset custodian etc, my thoughts though, I received this mail earlier in the week. Does it mean I am successful or not. Dear Candidate, We are at the concluding stage of the recruitment process and as part of the CBN requirement, we would appreciate if you could urgently send an updated copy of your CV. The items to update with include: 1. Gender 2. Date of birth 3. NYSC (date and company) 4. State of origin Thank you |

skillmyman: was told it is now china product. the bank i left is about sacking another 300 staff. trust me, a lot of them will be going home broke. it is better to have alternative plans while you are still in the bank because when you are out, you will be in panic mode and that is disastrous. @Skillyman, I worked in a commercial bank for 6 years as a full time employee. Now I am a federal government worker and doing a doctorate in finance from a US university. I'm also into the CFA exams and intend to consult for pension funds in Africa. Any ideas for me in that regards? how to start and gain clients. Regards |

18wheeler: Sure it can happen but very rarely. The medical tests are for a reason and going by the banks standard people can fail. Some persons have severe medical conditions that can affect productivity and they are either unaware or will refuse to reveal. But you shouldn't think of negative outcome all the time. @Akynwale, I have not been on this forum for several weeks now, I'm occupied with a better job and more rewarding than what I would have done at Stanbic. To the case of rejection after medicals, I inquired from the guy handling our recruitment and he told me that they proceed with 2 to 3 candidates for my role and the final decision is taken by the main ResourcingUNit. What 18Wheeler said is far from the truth on some sickness and not revealing. wish u d best and hope you clinch the job. |

greenafrica: @Ude25 @flowwolf09. I just got exactly the same email. The funny thing is that I went through both Interview and exco chat for Head Service Support ( HSS) but the mail qouted that I did interview for Personal and Business banking unit, which is pure marketing
Something is not right somewhere. Even if they wanted to send general mail to everybody they are not ready to consider now, it shd be customised for each department and not sending marketing mail to core operation applicants. My opinion though.
@Ude25 dont take it to heart. All hopes are not lost. But just push it a bit far back in your mind for now so that your mind wld be open to more opportunities that wld still come to you
Whatever it is, God wins @green africa, private and business banking unit (PBBUnit) is the umbrella body for all the vacancies which includes HSS. Thats why the said ' with regards to the role in our PBB Unit' |

ude25: 14days interval, I did my first interview on the 8th of May, plz flowwolf09, do you have their contact number? Have u gotten feedback from them regarding your own case? What do you advise I do? @Ude, I was sent medical examinations email on the 8th or May, the HR staff called me on the 9th, and I did medicals on the 10th. I received the same mail as yours on the 18th. Thus, I felt it was an error and now I'm not so sure again. I suggest you send a mail to PBBResourcing. |

ude25: Thank you for making out time to chat with us with regards to the role in our Personal and Business Banking Unit. The feedback from the interview is that you are a strong candidate. However, in view of the role in question and the required profile for the potential hire, we would be progressing with a stronger candidate with more years of related experience. Based on your experience and profile, we will be willing to consider you for other suitable vacancies within the unit. If that is okay by you, we shall retain your details on our database and contact you once we commence the review of the other roles. Again, thank you for your interest and time. Kind regards, Resourcing Unit
This was the mail I received, I was interviewed for enquiry officer role, I just hope this is a mistake. Stanbic plz don't do this to me, my hope was already high. Plz guys what do u think I should do, I was actually expecting invite for a chat only to receive this mail. Do they send regret mails after interview or chat? I don't even know what to think again. @ 18wheeler plz say something. @Ude25, how many interviews did you do? 1 or 2. You have not done Exco Chat yet? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Stanbic IBTC Is Currently Recruiting by flowwolf09: 11:41am On May 22, 2015 |
ruffp: it takes a lot of time to schedule an interview, i.e getting the panel together, taking time away from their primary duties etc in order to meet their prospective hires. Also consider the cost implication of putting together that recruitment panel (immediate and remote cost). Now when invites are sent out, they are sent to a number of people...most times far beyond the actual no. they hope to hire. In which case, they would weigh the nos. of declines/rescheduled and try to ascertain if the nos are significant enough (compared to those that accepted) to honor that request taking note of the premise above. If the nos. are insignificant, the possibility of you being called is greatly reduced.
If u have gone thru some stages in the recruitment process and you couldn't make a certain invitation, they begin to weigh the significance of the invitee....i.e who initiated the need for that vacancy...if it was initiated at the branch level, they would probably reschedule cause there is a reason for a branch to recommend a prospective hire for absorption...if its a blanket recruitment initiated by H/O HR, the tendency u might not get a reschedule is higher because they know that because of the nos. of invitees and the need to prune them down, they believe they still stand a chance of getting the right cadre of staff from the ones left - taking note of the nos of those that would make it viz-a-viz the no. of gaps they intend to fill, as well as the possibility that they still have a good no. of recruit-able hands based on the CV and the presentation made by such staff in previous interviews and of cuz the reason behind ur inability to meet up with the initial date in the 1st place (100% attendance for a test/interview isn't always possible). Bottom-line, its best to try meet up with set dates, no matter how tight except of cuz its not an open recruitment.
As per the medical issue, its really not a big deal...i know many that had their recruitment process discontinued after medicals....sometimes it could be as a result of communication gaps within the HR dept or a result of failure in medicals. Medicals doesn't just end with usual blood test for some institutions as they also have indicators they look out for but lets leave that aside. Its difficult to know exactly the issue as they would not officially communicate such lapses (if any) in their correspondence with you and wouldn't tell u that its because of some medical condition discovered....that is a ticket for lawsuit as there are laws against such discriminatory action by employers.
It is however not a done-deal as they could indeed call you up for another position...which would clearly indicate that there was probably an oversight in the processing of your recruitment between the last interview and the call for medicals in terms of placing you were you best fit within the organization as they highlighted in the case being discussed. I know some who were given offer letters months after their recruitment was 'discontinued' in such manner....nothing is impossible. keep the faith. Who knows, when they do call u, u would be somewhere else with a better package than they are offering. @ruffp. I love your brilliant comments. I think it is a communication gap in the HR department. Because the HR guy called me after sending the mail for medical examinations and discussed the location of the vacancy and if I am OK with it. I said Yes it is my home state. Anyways, what will be will be. Best regards. |

edey2real: I need an urgent advice on a marketing job in a bank.
The pros and cons.
Thank you. Pros Good pay Meeting customers and knowing them (expanded network and associates) Trainings and on the job learning Easy movement to other banks (if you are a performer) Exposure to different business models and financial positions (financial information is important to business people) The banks success depends on its deposit base and how much it lends out from that base (the job of marketers) Cons Stress of searching for customers Pressure to meet targets Failed promises from contacts Insults from superiors when target are not met High possibility of sack when you fail (do not meet targets) Waking up and thinking of deposits and risk assets (not much fun). |

18wheeler: So many factors can cause delay. Its easier to process these things in batches, its also cheaper rather than processing individually. You may be waiting for others to be processed to your stage and then you take the medicals together. I don't think you should be worried at this stage. Calm down, you're there already. @18Wheeler, whats d time (no of days) between medical examination and getting offer letter? one week, two weeks etc, any ideas or hint. |
