Los Che have named Pako Ayestaran, who returned to the club as an assistant coach in February, as their interim boss until the end of the season Valencia have sacked Gary Neville and named Pako Ayestaran as their new head coach until the end of the season.

Neville was appointed on December 2 but failed to win any of his first nine matches in charge in La Liga and also suffered elimination from the Copa del Rey and Europa League.

Valencia have lost their last three matches in the league after a brief upturn in form in February and sit in 14th place in the Spanish top flight, six points clear of the relegation zone.

"After carefully analysing the sporting situation, the Club has decided to make this change in the best interests of Valencia ahead of the end of the current season," a club statement reads.

"The Club is grateful for Gary Neville's work and wish him the best of luck for the future."

The job at Mestalla was Neville's first in management, with the former Manchester United right-back also occupying a role as an England assistant coach.

He has most prominently worked as a pundit on Sky Sports following his retirement and is a co-owner of English non-league side Salford City, along with Valencia owner Peter Lim.

"I would like to thank Valencia Football Club, the fans, staff and the players," Neville said in a statement.

"I would have liked to have continued the work I started but understand that we are in a results business and in the 28 games they have not been to my standards or to those which are required by this club."

Ayestaran returned to Valencia to assist Neville in February having previously worked at the club under Rafael Benitez and now takes over from the England assistant coach until the end of the season.

The 53-year-old helped to guide Los Che to two league titles and the Uefa Cup between 2001 and 2004 before joining Benitez at Liverpool, where they won the Champions League together.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach will arrive at Melwood on
Thursday to pen a three-year deal less than a week after Brendan
Rodgers was axed by Fenway Sports Group

Jurgen Klopp has agreed a three-year deal to become the new
manager of Liverpool , with the club expected to make the
announcement on Thursday evening, Goal understands.
The 48-year-old, who Fenway Sports Group have twice before
attempted to lure to Anfield, will be unveiled in a press conference
scheduled to take place the stadium on Friday.

In the immediate aftermath of Brendan Rodgers’ axing, Liverpool
vowed to move in a “decisive, timely manner” to fill the vacancy
and made the former Borussia Dortmund coach their first choice.
The owners were encouraged by talks with Klopp, who showed the
enthusiasm and energy required to inject some life back into the
squad as well as enliven the atmosphere around the club.

The two-time German Manager of the Year will arrive at Melwood
on Thursday afternoon to ink a deal and familiarise himself with his
new surroundings.

He has reshuffled the backroom set-up, with Sean O’Driscoll and
Gary McAllister no longer part of the coaching unit. The latter will
be offered a different role at the club. Pepijn Lijnders, however, will
remain to work on first-team development. The trio formed part of
a new technical approach Rodgers had only just put into place this
summer.

Glen Driscoll, head of performance, and Chris Davies, head of
opposition analysis - both of whom were recruited by the Northern
Irishman shortly after he was appointed in 2012 - have also been let
go.

Klopp’s trusted assistant Zeljko Buvac, and his technical analyst
Peter Krawietz will join him at the club. Their first test is the trip to
Tottenham on 17 October.

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has
relocated to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, barely
three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari’s
administration was inaugurated.
Since they were inaugurated, Buhari and Vice-
President Yemi Osinbajo have been operating from
outside the Presidential Villa.
This is despite the fact that both men have their
official residences and offices inside the Villa.
Both of them have been operating from their private
residences as well as the Defence House, official
residence of the President-elect located at Maitama
District, Abuja.
Our correspondent gathered that Mrs. Buhari
formally relocated to the Presidential Villa on
Thursday at a time when her husband was out of
Abuja.
“Hajia (Buhari) arrived here
(Presidential Villa) with her
entourage at about 6pm on
Thursday. She had relocated
ahead of her husband. She pa
$$ed the night here,” a
Presidency official told our
correspondent on Friday.
As of the time our correspondent visited the First
Lady’s Wing of the Presidential Villa on Friday,
some exotic cars were seen parked in front of the
premises, an indication that Mrs. Buhari was
playing host to some guests.
Another Presidency official told our correspondent
that the President is expected to join his wife inside
the Presidential Villa on arrival from his local trip.
Buhari had departed Abuja for Kaduna on Tuesday
shortly after he arrived from South Africa where he
took part in the just-concluded 25th a$$embly of
Heads of State and Government of the African
Union.
Buhari is expected back in Abuja from the journey
described as “private trips” this weekend.
“The President is expected back
this weekend. He will be
expected to join his wife here on
his arrival,” the source added.

Upon his formal relocation to the Presidential Villa,
Buhari is expected to operate for the first time from
his office on Monday.
As of the time of filing this report, Osinbajo and his
wife have yet to relocate to the Villa.
