That is the essense of Christianity in the first place, to be a Christian at heart.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Eomans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

So, if you believe in the heart you are very good to go before God, no one will know your mind.

Then you don't need to loose your family, friends and relations simply because you didn't know you can hide your religious identity in your heart, it's a matter of simple wisdom.

This has really given me relief. I really appreciate your contribution.

You were never a true Muslim to begin with

How? But I was born and brought up in Islam. In fact in my whole family there’s no single Christian.

Pls try to be supportive. You may see it as a simple matter, but for me it can be suicidal.

Thank God you have revealed Truly the Truth for your desire to depart from your former practice at the bolded!

Think Truly about this, if an applicant comes to you saying that he intends to leave his former employer because it was too hard, do you think that that is a good reason to employ him?

For the work of God too and the keeping of His Laws are also many but reasonable and doable, even though they require intense hardwork!

Thank you

I’m have struggling with my faith for long. Born and brought up a muslims with muslims wife and children and in core northern Nigeria. But I have recently convinced myself to convert to christianity beacuse being a muslims is too hard for me to cope, as I always love moderately free lifestyle.
But how can I handle the consequences comes with it!

1. According to islam, conversion to any religion from islam the convert must be killed.
2. My wife and children will leave me.
3. My parents and relatives will deny me being their family member.
3. My friends will leave me.

And I later thought that I can’t handle the pressure of converting here in Nigeria. But for long in my mind I’ve seen myself as a Christian for my love to Jesus Christ.

BUT CAN SOMEBODY BE CHRISTIAN ONLY IN HIS MIND FOR FEAR OF BAD CONSEQUENCES?

Politics / Letter From Africa: Culture Clash Over Nigeria's Rival Alphabets by Foenix: 12:51pm On Nov 15, 2020
Letter from Africa: Culture clash over Nigeria's rival alphabets
Published10 hours ago
A close up of the 1,000 naira note with its value written in Roman and Arabic script
IMAGE COPYRIGHTAFP
In our series of letters from African journalists, Mannir Dan Ali, former editor-in-chief of the Daily Trust newspaper, looks at what a row over Arabic script reveals about Nigeria's divides.
Short presentational grey line
A lawyer has asked a court in Nigeria's commercial city of Lagos to compel the country's central bank to remove the Arabic script which appears on most naira banknotes. The lettering states the note's currency value.
He also wants the army to stop using the Arabic inscription: "Victory is from God", on its logo.
The move is likely to reopen an old controversy over the use of Arabic script, which some see as an attempt to Islamise the country.
But many seem unaware that the Arabic script used to write in several African languages is known as "Ajami".
It was the first means of literacy on the continent, centuries before Western colonisers and Christian missionaries arrived with their Roman script and its A-Z alphabet.
Among others, Swahili in East Africa, Tamashek, the language of the Tuaregs in North and West Africa, and Nigerian languages like Kanuri, Nupe, Yoruba, Fulfulde and Hausa all use Ajami.
Scholars and administrators in the Sokoto Caliphate, which dominated much of present-day northern Nigeria in the 19th Century, used Ajami to write many documents and books.

image captionA portrait of Nana Asma'u, from the book Extraordinary Women of the Muslim World, wrote several texts in Hausa and Fulfulde using Ajami in the 19th Century
Nana Asma'u, the daughter of Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio, who founded the caliphate, was a renowned and prolific poet - and probably the first woman to write several books in Hausa and Fulfulde using Ajami.
More than 150 years after her death, it is Ajami Hausa, not Arabic, that is on the naira notes.
Religious fault line
Deep division and suspicion have been the lot of Nigeria since British colonisers amalgamated the northern and southern parts of the country, alongside the colony of Lagos, in 1914.
To this day, some politicians still refer to it as "the mistake of 1914".
The divisions are fed by the different cultures, religions and worldviews of the people brought together into one country.

Even though the label "largely Muslim north and mainly Christian south" used by the media does not reflect the true complexities of Nigeria, it does capture one of its main fault lines.
This background explains the ebb and flow of the case now before a Lagos court.
The row first began a decade ago when, to commemorate Nigeria's 50th anniversary, the 50 naira note was redesigned. Four years later for the centenary of the country's creation, the 100 naira too was updated.

Mannir Dan Ali
Journalist

It provoked a strong reaction across the Christian-Muslim divide when Roman script was used to write the value in Hausa instead of Ajami.
An article on the subject by the New Yorker magazine summarised it by saying: "Some Christians supported the move as a step towards de-Islamising Nigeria, while many Muslims called it Islamophobia."

It is obvious that those opposed to the use of Arabic script on Nigeria's currency or emblems see it as an expression of Islamic identity owing to the origin of Arabic as the language of Islam and the initial use of Ajami as a means of spreading Islam on the African continent.
They fail to see that they are falling into the mindset of Boko Haram, as the Islamist militants who have been waging an 11-year insurgency in northern Nigeria are equally opposed to anything connected with Western education and ideas.

The Ajami writing on each naira note is for the benefit of the tens of millions of Hausa speakers, who can only read and write in that script, which is taught in schools across the north.
Such people could go to court to argue that their own rights were being infringed should the Ajami inscription be removed.
Africa's 'triple heritage'
As the debate about the Arabic script rages on, some on social media have been quick to show that in Israel, its currency, the shekel, has Arabic inscriptions for the benefit of the minority Arab population there.
The Nigerian army logo
IMAGE COPYRIGHT@HQNIGERIANARMY
image captionArabic was included on the Nigeria army logo to deflect criticism that the star looked like a Jewish symbol
The army logo is actually in Arabic, included by its designer, a Christian from southern Nigeria, to deflect criticism that the six-pointed star that sits below the eagle looked like a Jewish symbol, the Star of David.
It may also be worth noting what the late Kenyan writer and political scientist Ali Mazrui called "the triple heritage of Africa" - its Arab Islamic influence, Christian colonial experience and indigenous culture.
None of the three can be wished away by anyone who is aiming at an inclusive society.
As one person told the New Yorker in objection to the centenary naira redesign: ''If you still have English and it is not Christianising, why is the one in Arabic Islamising?"
Whatever the court may decide on the matter, it is unlikely to be the last word on this emotive issue.

Politics / #endsars: Prices Of Tomatoes, Onion Skyrocket In Enugu by Foenix: 5:14pm On Nov 05, 2020
EndSARS: Prices of tomatoes, onion skyrocket in Enugu
by AGENCY REPORT November 5, 2020

The prices of tomatoes and onions have significantly increased in major markets of Enugu metropolis, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports.

A market survey conducted by NAN on Thursday, reveals that prices of both commodities have increased when compared to a few weeks back.

The price of a big basket of tomatoes sells for between N15,000 and N17,500 as against N9,000 and N12,000 depending on the species.

Read Also: COVlD-19: Prices of sanitisers skyrocket in Nigerian markets

The price of a small basket of tomatoes now cost between N10,000 and N13,500.

A tomato seller at new Akwata Market, Garki, Enugu, Ego Madu, attributed the increase in the price of tomatoes to insufficient supply of the commodity from the Northern part of the country.

“The UTC specie that comes from Jos, which is supposed to have reduced in price from October is still scarce and expensive,” Mrs Ego explained.

According to her, as at October 2019, the UTC specie was sold for between N9,000 and N10,500; while the other specie from Benue was sold for between N6,500 and N8,000.

Mrs Tochi Ezema, another tomato trader at Garki market, said the prices might not reduce if the insufficiency in supply of the commodity continued, even as its season of abundance was gradually getting nearer.

According to Chris Odogwu, a customer at Mayor Market however, the price of tomatoes tend to reduce towards the end of the year.

Mr Odogwu expressed surprise that the price was still high even though this was November.

He urged the government to build storage facilities for preservation of perishable items in the country as that would ensure price stability and availability at all times.

Meanwhile, an onion seller, at New Garki Market, Ado Sani, lamented that the significant increase in the price of onions was associated with other factors apart from seasonal changes.

Mr Sani listed the factors to include bad roads, increase in transportation fare from the northern part of the country, as well as the recent #EndSARS protest.

According to him, a bag of onions is now between N65,000 and N70,000 as against N48,000 and N50,000 in October.

Another onion seller at New market, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was forced to suspend trading in the commodity because his customers were seriously lamenting over the price increase in the commodity.

“With the increase in the price of onions, I decided to stop buying and selling the commodity to my customers for now,” he said.

Politics / Hausa/fulani: We Are Indigenes Of Southern Kaduna by Foenix: 1:50pm On Aug 23, 2020
Hausa/Fulani: ‘We are indigenes of Southern Kaduna’
August 21, 2020
Southern Kaduna killing
FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedInWhatsAppEmail

The Director, Media and Publicity of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kaduna branch, Ibrahim Bayero Zango says Southern Kaduna does not belong to a particular ethnic group. The spokesman in an interview with the Assistant Editor LEKE SALAUDEEN says all ethnic groups, including Hausa/Fulani, are being killed in Southern Kaduna.

What is responsible for the incessant killing in Southern Kaduna?

The people of Southern Kaduna are divided along religious and political lines. The Kataf and other tribes in Southern Kaduna are supporters of the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). Most of the Hausa/Fulani population in Southern Kaduna has sympathy for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). That is why people look at issues from a political or religious point of view. The Kataf don’t see anything good in the administration of Governor Nasir el-Rufai, simply because he is a Fulani man. They believe it is Hausa/Fulani that made them lose power. They just attack our people for what I will describe as a transfer of aggression. Again, these people are mostly Christians, while we are Muslims. They don’t want to have anything to do with Muslims. I don’t know why we should allow religion to divide us. There is no religion that preaches discrimination. We should live together peacefully for the progress and development of society. We should not see ourselves as enemies because of religious differences.

What is your comment to the accusation of those who claim to be indigenes of Southern Kaduna that the Hausa/Fulani are invading and occupying their land and communities?

Which land? There is no land in Southern Kaduna that belongs to a particular tribe, group or religion. The entire land of the area belongs to the people of Southern Kaduna of which we are part of. No one can deny the fact that Hausa/Fulani are among the indigenous tribes of the Southern Kaduna. All the tribes in Southern Kaduna are immigrants. They were not there before us. Our forefathers had lived in Kaduna for more than three centuries. They were there before the jihad. It is wrong for any tribe to claim that the area belongs solely to them. The earlier we face this reality the better for us in Southern Kaduna. They have always been accusing Fulanis of invading and occupying their lands. They should please come and tell the whole world which of their lands have been taken over by Hausa/Fulani.

Can you mention towns and communities in the area that belong to Hausa/Fulani?

Let me tell you that most of the historical towns or communities in Southern Kaduna belong to the Hausa and Fulani people. We are not strangers or settlers as the Kataf and other tribes will want people to believe. For instance, the oldest towns or communities like Kajuru, Kaceccere, Zango Town, Matsirga, Kafanchan belong to the Hausa/Fulani. Even communities like Tashan Daji, Dutsen Bako, Zankuwa, Kagarko, Jere, Janjala, Tafa, Walijo, Maraban Walijo, Gumel, Ungwan Rimi among others occupied by the Christians today initially belonged to Hausa/Fulani. As a result of sectarian crises, the Hausa/Fulani were forced out of these communities and they have been taken over by the Christians. After taking over the communities, they have renamed them. For example, they have renamed Tashan Daji as KamuruIkulu and Ungwan Rimi is now called Ungwan Rimi Bajju. To prove to you that the Hausa/Fulani are indigenes, the oldest traditional institution in the area which is Jama’a Emirate belongs to the Hausa/Fulani. That is why we have the Emir of Jama’a as the oldest traditional title in Southern Kaduna. The emirate belongs to Hausa/Fulani. Besides, the Chief of Tsam chiefdom is a Muslim, the Chief of Kauru is a Muslim, the Chief of Ayu is a Muslim, the Chief of Kagarko is a Muslim and the Chief of Jere is a Muslim. The Emir of Kajuru is a Muslim. So, there are some many communities and towns and emirates that belong to Hausas and Fulanis Muslims in Southern Kaduna.

How presidential poll was rigged -ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has described last Saturday’s presidential election as the most systematically rigged in Nigeria’s electoral history, warning against a repeat of such malfeasance in Tuesday’s governorship/state assembly poll.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been boasting that it will clinch the governorship election in Lagos and elsewhere on the strength of the result of the presidential election but we must warn strongly that a repeat of the crooked strategy that spewed out those cooked figures will have consequences that no one has yet imagined,’’ the party said in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Ilorin on Thursday.

It said the plan by the PDP was to massively rig the governorship and state assembly election, especially in areas where President Goodluck Jonathan scored victories, to give the world the impression that the result of the presidential election was not a fluke. ‘’President Jonathan should call his dogs of war at the PDP to order so that they will not push their luck by attempting to thwart the will of the people any more than they have already done with the grim consequences that we all can now see,’’ the party said.

The ACN said the PDP simply stole more than enough for the owner to notice during last Saturday’s presidential election, forgetting that if anyone thinks he knows how to hide things, others also know how to find them.

‘’What the PDP did last Saturday was simple: They colluded with security agents and INEC officials to cook figures, which have now turned out to be their undoing because the cooking was not intelligently carried out.
‘’An analysis of the results put out by the INEC itself has shown a troubling pattern of clear manipulation. Everywhere the PDP perceived it was strong, it came out with incredibly high numbers of voters in his favour. Conversely, anywhere the opposition was perceived to be strong; the opposition’s margin of victory was unreasonably low.

‘’A few examples will suffice: In the South-south and South-east where President Jonathan is believed to have strong support, the average turnout was 67 per cent each of registered voters, compared to 32 per cent for the South-west where he is believed to have a strong opposition. In the North-west and North-east, which are considered a bastion of opposition in the North, the average turnout of registered voters was 54 per cent.

‘’And whereas high voter turnout was recorded in states perceived to be sympathetic to President Jonathan in the different geopolitical zones (Bayelsa in South-south, 85 per cent; Imo in South-east, 84 per cent; and Plateau in North-central, (62 per cent); the opposite was the case for areas where the opposition was believed to be strong. Even in Katsina, Buhari’s hometown, the turnout was a paltry 52 per cent. Ditto for Kano (53 per cent); Sokoto (40 per cent) and Zamfara (51 per cent).
‘’It is also instructive that even though Edo State is in the South-south, the turnout was only 37%, apparently since the state was not believed - by the figure cooks - to be sympathetic to President Jonathan, being controlled by the ACN. The turnout figures for the South-west are also revealing: Lagos (31.8 per cent); Ogun (28 per cent); Osun (39 per cent) and Oyo (33 per cent).

Also, while the margin of victory for the PDP in the South-south is 98 per cent and for the South-east 98.9 per cent, the highest margin of victory for the CPC in the North-west, where Buhari comes from, is 55.8 per cent,’’ the ACN said.

The party added that when the ballot papers would be subjected to forensic analysis, the world would realise that what appeared to be free and fair election at the polling units was a mere façade.
It slammed the election observers for rushing to tell the world that the whole election process was free, fair and credible whereas they were busy playing to the gallery in urban centres while the PDP colluded with the INEC and security officials in the hinterland to concoct figures that were only real in their imagination.

‘’We wonder if those who have been rushing to congratulate President Jonathan would still do so if they are aware of the analysis to which the election figures have been subjected. We hope they are not acting more out of their concern for the continuous flow of the black gold than for the growth of genuine democracy in Nigeria,’’ ACN said.

Why we didn’t implement Jos Crisis white paper reports – Jang

Saturday, 12 March 2011 00:33 Mahmud Lalo, Jos

The Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang yesterday stated that his administration was unable to implement white paper of previous reports of investigation of the Jos crisis due to the fact that culprits arrested were taken to Abuja and subsequently released.

Jang stated this at the periodic consultative forum with the state stakeholders in Jos which took place at the Conference Hall of the Government House Rayfield saying the biggest challenge the state had to contend with is that of peace and security.

“You might ask why the non implementation of white paper of the previous reports of investigation of the crisis? Here we are faced with some challenges. Among other obstacle is the fact that culprits arrested are taken to Abuja and nothing is heard of them”.

He added “the biggest challenge we have to contend with is that of peace and security with attendant loss of lives and property. Indeed this is my painful moment in government. This has affected relationships and drain on state resources".
