Dear Prospective applicants, I am writing this piece on behalf of a fellow applicant whose visa got denied few days ago. He joined the waiting list in March, had visa interview in October and got denied in January despite transferring €13,341 into his blocked account. I’ve been in Europe for more than a decade and I have worked in the top 3 best economy in Europe(Germany, France and Italy) I’m writing this because I think someone or people will find it useful. If they ask If you don’t get a job with your opportunity card visa within a year, what’s the best answer? In addition to that, alway add evidence of your ties to your home country (real estate investment, marriage certificate, landed property, Statement of purpose) in the other session of your application. Furthermore, for people who got denied opportunity card, will the applicant re-join the queue or open a ticket and request for another appointment for fresh visa application? Finally, it is apparent that all these countries are all tightening their immigration policies and laws. Do have plan A, B , C and D Best wishes |
Liadi2:I can’t believe I missed your mention. Were you able to get through/the help needed? Sei in Italia? Sai parlare italiano adesso? |
What kind of help do you need? Bunmi222: |

AutomaticMotors:ISEE is free. Yes, I used ISEE throughout my graduate studies at UNIPV. |
Teefay:Do you mean TLS VISA appointment without getting appouintment for legalization? |
I did mine about a decade ago with exemption of English language test. Let's hear @iyoma08 opinion. AutomaticMotors: |
I didn't work through out my graduate studies, but things are changing now. Follow your discretion but it is better to apply to the two (Pavia and Bologna) AutomaticMotors: |
Proceed with it AutomaticMotors: |
That's correct. They'll even refund you some money once your family income is below a particular band AutomaticMotors: |
Yes, it will pull through. Note: If you graduated 10 years ago and present statement of result, it could be a red flag. Try and apply for your certificate asap AutomaticMotors: |
Abaasit4real:Baba, enter DM Yes, I know someone with a B.Sc. and 5 years of progressive experience who followed this route. I know someone who completed his M.Sc. in STEM and is in the process of getting the visa through consular processing |
Abaasit4real:Yes, you do! |
Solanacea:Bologna is the best choice amongst the three. You can consider doing delivery related jobs within 3-6 months of your stay. At least you should be able to speak basic italian by then Note:It all depends on you ( learning new language is not for everyone) Plus, you have an advantage (feminine power) Best wishes |
Solanacea:Do you want to study and work in Italy? Sai parlare italiano? Where are you heading? |
Solanacea:I've been living in Pavia for almost a decade now. I will be fair with my judgement. Italy is fine but can be better. Pavia is fine for me because of proximity to Milan( just 30 mins), cost of living, plus I graduated from UNIPV. According to LinkedIn and Indeed, there are more job opportunities in Northern Italy than other regions. In all, come with enough money, ask questions, socialize with people, set healthy boundaries. All the best! Ciao |
Solanacea:Si, certo |
Solanacea:Well said @Solanacea You will need to go to Abuja to cancel the one you have and get another one. I was in this situation about 10 years ago. Get ready to spend money! |
Solanacea:Kindly go back to page 1 and read through. You don’t need to legalize or translate English language proficiency certificate. |
adedammy009:Thanks @adedammy009, I appreciate you comment. I believe January 1, 2024, is realistic because I will be filing from outside Nigeria. I have attended about three webinars, and 7-8 applicants got their I-140 approved on average in 70–75 days (not expedited applications). If the trend continues, I will get the visa in the next month (ember months) and move to the US on or before January 1, 2024. For my B2 visa, I submitted my DS-160 form two days before my visa appointment (this is another reason to be optimistic about the planned date). |
ogawisdom:We can exchange knowledge if you work in STEM. So far, I've written four (4) reference letters (recommendation letters) I'm working on my letter and expect to finish it by this time next week (31/03/2023).) I will equally send to two of my friends to help double-check. (so as to implement their feeback) Finally, I will submit everything to my personal lawyer to double-check before sending to USCIS in April. Hopefully, I'll be in the United States by January 1, 2024. |
Godsonice:TBVH, it's a dicey question. Permit me to use myself as an example. I studied Electronic Engineering and graduated in summer 2017 and I didn't get a job(Internship meant to be converted to full time job after 6 months) until after 1 year - 2018. To cut the story short, I wasn't given permanent employment and internship isn't taxed by law making it impossible to show any contribution to the society. I submitted my application but didn't have contract of work for about 6 months and my work permit was put on hold. It was after I got a job(fixed term contract, taxed by law) around October 2019 that I became eligible. Then pandemic struck and Questura(immigration) and all other institutions had to shutdown. In summary, my residence permit card didn't come out until June 2020 when the government ease restriction and I used it only for 6 months because it expired in March 2021. Keep in mind STEM is hot in the western world. If you're coming to study anything STEM, you'll get something within 1 year although it might not be more than €1000-€1500 per month after tax but it'll definitely sustain you for some time. All the best! |
Godsonice:Yes, there is one year post study visa that comes with free health insurance from the government. |
like1:Let me answer the question. 1. My spouse paid 250k (extortion) for verification sometimes in April 2. It took them two months to issue visa after much pressure. I called the embassy at least three times before they issued the VISA. To be honest with you, I don't know why bureaucracy is a thing with italian instituitions. |
