Good day everyone ,I ve been following this thread silently for a very long time and I have learnt alot...but to my issue...im almost through with my youth service but I graduated with 2.78 G.P in child development and family studies .I have decided to further my education (MSC) in US or CANADA...these are my questions...
1.should I sit for GRE and TOEFL or GRE alone.
2.is it neccessary for me to send my transcript to WES.
3.what are my chances of being granted VISA
4.which one will be easier in terms of finances and being granted visa... USA or CANADA??
I will appreciate your response ...thank you in anticipation.

I was in a similar situation, I wrote my exams & had full scholarship to study here. Not everyone gets funding while in Nigeria; not everyone needs funding & that's the bitter truth. At the end of the day, it all boils down to the circumstances we're in & our individual strengths.

For example, igbonerd got funding after he got his visa, two days before he travelled. Many of my friends got funding only after they resumed. At times, we think we know but we don't.

Yes not everybody needs funding but this person we are talking about needs funding. Because it worked for you does not mean it will work for someone else. Your friends that got funding is just a fraction of the total numbers of Nigerian students in the US who were fortunate. A fraction has also fallen out of status due to inability to pay tuition. Just like you mentioned your friends, some of my friends too had to go find there way with marriage because they could not pay tuition and they fell out of status. Some are begging friends to use there credit cards to pay tuition, and when you ask them why they left Nigeria without any means of paying for their fees, they tell you they didnt know this is how it's going to turnout. For once we shouldn't encourage people to rush without proper planning, the other side is not always green

Yes, you can. While many schools may have reached their application deadlines, some few ones still have theirs around March, May & even July. Come to think of it, there's still a Summer semester before Fall. It all boils down to how prepared you're for the standardized exams, & what schools you're look at.

No he can not meet up. There is no point rushing and failing. Funding deadline has passed in 99% of the schools if not all. I am not sure he has registered for the exams yet, he needs to gets lor, write sop..All these things don't happen in a day. He needs proper planning and not rush, very few graduate programs admit for summer, very few. In-fact the probability of getting a school that offers construction management in summer is low if not close to 0. Aitonline, plan towards Spring or Fall 2019

Before you waste your money, make sure the state you are going to will accept international drivers license. Check with the motor vehicle department of each state you will drive in for its requirements. Not all states accept this. Some states will require that, in addition to a valid license from Nigeria. Additionally states like New york will require your license + a simple exam to get an american license so international license is not that important. In some states like North Carolina If you don't plan to buy a car soon, getting a license shouldn't be important on your financial priority list because you will need to show proof of valid vehicle insurance before you can get a license except you want the restricted license which allows you to drive ONLY rental cars. Just find out details about all this in the state you are going too, each state different rules.
