TravelRe: Man Rides Bicycle From Morocco To Nigeria, Set To Visit Abuja. Photos by foreshore(m): 10:17pm On Sep 17, 2018
PrettyCrystal:
A man is reportedly riding a bicycle to Abuja after arriving the country from Morroco. According to an eyewitness who met and spoke with him, the man who revealed he's a Muslim - says he wants to tour Nigeria and take pictures after hearing so much about the country.

The eyewitness identified as Sani Musa Saminaka disclosed that he saw the Moroccan man today at Shanga local government area in Kebbi State as the man took pictures with the excited villagers who supported him for his journey.

Earlier this year (in February), a Chinese female cyclist, Huang Shuang, rode from Morocco to Lagos, Nigeria, within five months. Huang, also known as CICI, said that she was inspired to embark on “cycling around the world’’ after riding around her country.

The cyclist said that her experience in China motivated her to begin global cycling in America where she covered about 5,500 km in two months.

“I am glad that I have also been able to ride from Morocco to Lagos, Nigeria. This is an indication that irrespective of our sex, we can achieve anything we set out to do. “The whole idea about my cycling started when, one day, I decided to embark on a cycling trip around my country, China.

“After the trip around China, I was motivated to take my first cycling around the world to America, where I covered about 5,500km in two months.

“Now, I am in Lagos from Morocco, after I flew from America to France, where I cycled around Europe for four months, before taking a ferry from Spain to Morocco,’’ she said.

The cyclist, who left Morocco for Lagos on September 6, 2017, said her trip was fascinating though she experienced tiredness, robbery, accidents and had had to sleep under bridges and in gas stations. She said that she always travels with money, noodles, tent, sleeping bag, clothes and bicycle repair accessories.

PoliticsRe: Protesters Delayed Governor Yahaya Bello From Meeting Buhari In Abuja by foreshore(m): 10:08pm On Sep 17, 2018
PrettyCrystal:
The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, was delayed for hours following a serious traffic gridlock while he was on his way to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

It was gathered that the governor was traveling to Abuja along with his entourage to discuss important matter as it concerns the flood that has ravaged communities and the terrible nature of roads in the state before he met a traffic jam at Jamata axis of the Abuja-Lokoja highway, according to a report by Petra Akinti Onyegbule, Chief Press Secretary to Kogi State Governor.

The protest was ignited after a military man allegedly shot the tyres of a truck. In solidarity, other truck drivers quickly mobilised and used their vehicles to block both sides of the highway, bringing traffic to a halt and commuters stranded for hours.

In the spirit of comradeship, other trailers in solidarity began to block the highway with their vehicles thereby causing traffic discomfort to commuters.

On getting to the scene, the governor alighted from his car, listened to what happened, calmed the situation down.

It took the intervention of the Governor who spent over an hour at the site of the incident to solve the situation and bring normalcy to the highway.

The governor used the opportunity to call for understanding amongst road users and security operatives to always try and resolve issues they may have amicably, He resolved the issue before proceeding to Abuja where he met the President in Aso Rock.

IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, met with police officers and men on deployment for the Osun gubernatorial election. Addressing them,he said....

“Iam here to address you on the need to be vigilant and operationally effective before, during and after this Osun gubernatorial elections scheduled for Saturday. You must not be partisan, you must be fair to all and above all, have the fear of God as you set out for this exercise, which is the last before the general elections next year. Four police officers, along with other security operatives from sister agencies would man each polling unit. Therefore the success in every polling unit is dependent on the ability of the officers to do what is expected. It is therefore imperative for officers and men to be at their best. I have directed the payment of your allowances, which must be in your account between now and Friday, provided you have given the correct details of your account.”

The Presidency has reacted to a letter by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), instructing the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, to monitor and arrest Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose anytime he wants to run away from the country.

9News Nigeria had reported that the agency in a letter signed by its Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, to the Comptroller-General of Customs, urged the service to place the outgoing Ekiti governor on the watch list and ensure he does not escape.

Reacting to the development, Buhari’s Aide on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie on her Twitter page called on Nigerians to join hands with the EFCC to ensure Fayose defends his integrity or lack of it.
She assured Nigerians that corruption under the Buhari administration will be defeated in high places.

Onochie wrote “It’s not just the customs; every Nigerian should stand by EFCC so Gov. Ayo Fayose is given the opportunity to defend his integrity or lack of it.
“Together, we will defeat corruption in high places.”

Folake Ogunbodede, a police sergeant attached to the Ipaja police station, is currently on the run after stabbing her husband, Taiwo, following a misunderstanding at their home in Ipaja, Lagos.

According to reports, the couple had a little misunderstanding, yesterday morning, and the husband left the house to avoid more issues.

However, Folake warned him not to return home, but since Taiwo had nowhere else to sleep, he returned home late last night, thinking that his wife would have calmed down, only for Folake to start stabbing him.

But for the timely intervention of neighbors, she would have killed him, as he was lying motionless as at the time of his rescue. Folake has since fled, while Taiwo continues battling for survival at the hospital he was rushed to.

A wielder identified as Mr Dalhatu, was killed following an attack on senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf, the lawmaker representing Taraba Central, during a visit to Bali town for an interaction.

It was scooped that the deceased died as a result of stray bullet fired by the police to disperse the political thugs who attacked the senator.

The security agents shot sporadically in the air to rescue the lawmaker from the thugs who were reportedly armed with daggers, knives and other deadly weapons.

CrimeRe: Nigerian Man Sentenced To 5 Years In US Prison For Involving In Email Scams by foreshore(m): 7:19pm On Sep 15, 2018
HeWrites:
A 29-year-old Nigerian man whose email scams aimed to defraud businesspeople from Singapore to Switzerland out of millions of dollars was sentenced to five years in a US federal prison.

The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Geoffrey S. Newman, announced on Tuesday, September 11.

“Onyekachi Emmanuel Opara attempted to dupe thousands of victims into transferring money to him and his co-defendant in a phony email scheme,” said Geoffrey Berman.

Opara, 29, and a partner were arrested in South Africa in December 2016 and extradited to the US from Johannesburg in January of this year.

According to the New York FBI’s Complex Frauds and Cybercrimes Unit, he allegedly cooked up business email scams that targeted thousands of companies worldwide.

In these scams, Opara and fellow conspirators pretended to be supervisors at the target companies or third-party vendors, and emailed company employees requesting payments or information.

The emails, however, were sent from accounts with domain names very similar to those of the companies or vendors, or accounts whose metadata had been changed so it seemed like the emails were coming from a familiar address.

Once victims transferred funds, investigators say Opara quickly sucked them away to other bank accounts controlled by him and his partners. Investigators estimate that he attempted to steal $25 million in this way.

In a separate scam, Opara created a dating profile, posing as a young, attractive woman called “Barbara.”

Striking up relationships with men online, “Barbara” would convince them to send money overseas to accounts Opara controlled.

One victim transferred $600,000 to “Barbara”--money which landed in the bank accounts of Opara’s co-conspirators.

In addition to his five-year sentence, Opara has been ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution.

“The global reach of our office and the FBI ensured that Opara will serve time in the United States for his crimes,” said Berman.

Read the full press release below....
"Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that ONYEKACHI EMMANUEL OPARA was sentenced today in Manhattan federal court to 60 months in prison based upon OPARA’s participation in fraudulent business email compromise scams that targeted thousands of victims in the United States and around the world. Through these scams, OPARA and his co-conspirators attempted to defraud victims of over $25 million. On April 11, 2018, OPARA pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud before U.S. District Judge Paul A. Crotty, who imposed today’s sentence."

U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said;
“From halfway around the world, Onyekachi Emmanuel Opara ran a global email scam business that victimized thousands of people out of millions of dollars. The global reach of our Office and the FBI ensured that Opara will serve time in the United States for his crimes.”

According to the allegations in the Indictment to which OPARA pled guilty and statements made at the plea and sentencing proceedings;
"Between 2014 and 2016, OPARA and his co-defendant, David Chukwuneke Adindu (“Adindu”), participated in multiple business email compromise (“BEC”) scams that targeted thousands of victims around the world, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, and Singapore. OPARA sent bogus emails to employees of the victim companies directing that funds be transferred to specified bank accounts. The emails purported to be from supervisors at those companies or from third party vendors with whom the companies did business.

In reality, the emails were either sent from email accounts with domain names very similar to those of the companies and vendors, or the metadata for the emails was modified to make it appear as if the emails had been sent from legitimate email addresses.

After victims transferred the funds as directed in the bogus emails, the funds were quickly withdrawn or transferred to other bank accounts controlled by scheme participants. In total, the BEC scam participants attempted to steal more than $25 million from victims around the world.

In furtherance of the BEC scams, OPARA created accounts on dating websites and entered into online romantic relationships with individuals in the United States by portraying himself as a young attractive woman named “Barbara.” “Barbara” would then instruct these individuals in the United States to send their money overseas and/or to receive money from BEC scams and forward the proceeds to other scheme participants located overseas.

For example, one victim with whom OPARA struck up a romantic relationship sent over $600,000 of the victim’s own money to bank accounts controlled by scheme participants at OPARA’s direction. OPARA also attempted to recruit at least 14 other individuals via dating websites to receive funds from BEC scams into their bank accounts and then transfer the proceeds to overseas bank accounts.

OPARA was arrested on December 22, 2016, in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was extradited to the Southern District of New York on January 26, 2018.

* * *

In addition to the prison term, OPARA, 30, of Lagos, Nigeria, was sentenced to two years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution.

On June 20, 2017, Adindu pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit identity theft. On December 14, 2017, Judge Crotty sentenced Adindu to 41 months in prison and ordered him to pay approximately $1.4 million in restitution.

Mr. Berman praised the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Berman also thanked Oath’s E-Crime Investigations Team, the National Prosecuting Authority for South Africa, the South African Police Service, and the United States Marshals Service. Mr. Berman noted that the investigation is ongoing.

This case is being handled by the Office’s Complex Frauds and Cybercrime Unit. Assistant United States Attorneys Andrew K. Chan and Daniel Loss are in charge of the prosecution."

CrimeRe: Malaysia Police Busts Love Scam Syndicate, Arrest 25 Persons Including Africans by foreshore(m): 1:38pm On Sep 14, 2018
HeWrites:
Police in Kuala Lumpur detained 25 foreigners including Nigerians, who were part of a Love Scam syndicate in six raids conducted in the Klang Valley.

Speaking during the Press conference at the Federal Police headquarters on Thursday, September 13, Datuk Ahmad Noordin Ismail, Federal Police Commercial Crimes Investigation Department deputy director (cyber crime and multimedia investigations) said the foreigners, who were Nigerians, Tanzanians and Thai nationals, aged between 21 and 40.

“Various devices including laptops, mobile phones and ATM cards used by the suspects were also confiscated during the operation. Checks on the devices showed over 1,500 people from China, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, United States and Malaysia who were under the syndicate’s surveillance as potential victims," he said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that 10 cases involving an overall loss of RM500,000 were linked to this syndicate reported nationwide,” he added.

Ahmad Noordin said modus operandi employed by the syndicate involve posing as middle-aged man who was looking for a life partner.

He would then befriend victims through Facebook and gain their trust.

“After gaining the victim’s trust, the syndicate would inform the former that it would send a parcel containing cash and jewellery as a symbol of their relationship. The victims would then receive a phone call for an individual saying that the parcel was detained by the authorities and that they would need to pay a certain amount to recover it.

“The suspect would also use a third party banking facilities by asking the victim to surrender their ATM cards through postal service,” he said.

Ahmad Noordin said the suspects were being remanded to facilitate investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and Section 6 (1) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.

“The public are advised to be apply extra cautious when using social media and not to fall prey to people they befriend through the application. Also, don’t ever give access of your bank accounts to criminals as this could land account holders into trouble and could be investigated under Section 424 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Covenant Sex Scandal: Audio Of Expelled Male Student Admitting To Being Guilty

The Covenant University scandal just keeps getting messier. This time, an audio of the male Covenant University who took the institution to court and won has been released and it shows him admitting to being guilty of all the school accused him of.

Adooh Emmanuel claimed he was framed by Covenant University, CU, (read here) with the help of Omotayo Dada and Marilyn Effanga. He said the University claimed he had sex with one of the girls and as a result, they expelled him just before graduation, after he had spent 5 years in the institution. He went on to claim he was innocent and was a guy who kept all the rules of the institution and never had time for Covenant University girls.

He eventually took the University to court and emerged victorious. Afterwards, he took to Twitter to call out CU and the two ladies involved. He claimed Omotayo and Marilyn helped the school frame him up.

He later deleted his threat after Omotayo warned him to delete it because they are lies.

But Omotayo and Marilyn came out with their side of the story after Omotayo and her family began receiving threats (read here). Both Omotayo and Marilyn said Adooh had sex with Marilyn and later accused her of giving him an STI. But tests proved she was negative for any STI. The university later saw the messages on both women's mobile devices and invited them for questioning. They said Adooh begged them to cover up for him, which they tried to do, but they were threatened with expulsion and they eventually said the truth. This led to Adooh's expulsion.

They also revealed that they have an audio of Adooh admitting to this without knowing he was being recorded.

The audio has now been released. In it, Emmanuel is heard narrating to a friend that he indeed had sex with Marilyn and went to bed immediately afterwards. As a result, his ejaculate stuck to his skin and also to his boxers. When he woke at night to ease himself, his briefs had already stuck to his male member due to his discharge. This made him bleed when removing the underwear and he thought Marilyn had given him an STI.

He admitted to calling Marilyn to accuse her of infecting him in Dec 2017. He also said he called her friend Omotayo to complain. He said he later discovered it wasn't an STI but it was his underwear sticking to his skin due to the dried discharge.

He further revealed that this year Marilyn got into trouble with the school and they saw the messages on her phone and also on Omotayo's phone so the school's SDC invited him for questioning as regards sexual immorality. He said when they showed him the chats and his photo, he denied being the Adooh in the chats and kept denying it all through. The school then called Omotayo to testify against him.

Adooh is then heard in the audio calling Omotayo names, saying:

So they come call that Tayo, that ugly bitch, that bastard, that swine...
