PrettyCrystal: Operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Maiduguri have rescued Kashim Bukar-Dalori, the four- year old son of the Borno All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman kidnapped on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the boy was kidnapped from school around 1p.m. by an unknown woman who falsely claimed to be a relative.
Demian Chukwu, The Borno Police Commisioner, had earlier said that police personnel had lunched a full investigation to rescue the child from his abductors.
A source told NAN that three of the kidnappers were arrested in Maiduguri and Kano on Friday on their mission to collect N20 million ransom from a family member of the victim.
The source said: “It has been an exhaustive investigation. The suspects, a male who pulled out to collect the ransom of N20 million in kano, has also been arrested by our personnel.
“The boy, who was kept in Albarka Hotel in Maiduguri by a lady, was rescued and handed over to the family.
“It was after collecting the money that our IRT personnel from Kano arrested her. After her arrest, they promptly told us where the boy was kept. So we quickly mobilised our men and cordoned off the hotel in Maiduguri.
“She was the one that went to the school and picked him.”
Edet Okon, Police Public Relations Officer, Borno Command, confirmed the story.
Okon said: “I can comfirm that the son of the APC Chairman that was kidnapped has been rescued and the suspects were also arrested. The suspects would be investigated and charged to court.”

Politics › Re: INEC: Osun Election Will Be Role Model For 2019 Polls by foreshore(m): 6:27pm On Sep 21, 2018 |
Nwaforj44: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it is fully ready to make the governorship election in Osun a “role model” for the 2019 polls.
Olusegun Agbaje, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state said this during a press conference at the INEC headquarters in Osogbo.
Agbaje said the commission would run simultaneous accreditation and voting between 8am and 2pm on Saturday of the Osun election.
He, however, refuted the ban on use of mobile phones and cameras on election day at the polling unit.
He said: “What INEC said is that voters should not carry their phones or other camera devices to the voting cubicles where the voter will mark the ballot, to safeguard the secrecy of the ballot.”
He also added that the commission has no plans to give uncollected PVCs to any political party as being speculated.
"Let me therefore reiterate for the umpteenth time that INEC will exhibit the highest level of transparency, integrity and impartiality while availing all the 48 political parties that have nominated candidates equal opportunity to participate in a level playing field during the Osun State governorship election,” he said.
He urged journalists covering the election to be credible in their reportage, noting the commission would be free and fair in the discharge of its duty.
Agbaje also warned politicians and political parties participating in the election against inducing voters with money.
According to Agbaje, the commission has perfected plans with security agencies to deal decisively with any one engaging in the notorious act of "see and buy”.
He also noted that INEC is fully ready to make the Saturday Osun gubernatorial election a "role model" for other elections in 2019.
He said a total of 1,682,495 were registered as eligible voters in Osun State, stating that all the card readers deployed for the poll had already been configured.
16,000 ad hoc staff have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the election and sensitive materials deployed for the election are being tracked to their respective destinations in the 30 LGAs.
He said: "Let me use this opportunity once again to reassure the people of Osun state, other Nigerians and the international community that INEC is more than even before determined to conduct a free, fair, credible and acceptable election that will meet the aspirations of all and sundry.”

damiloladuke: A Nigerian ex-footballer, who is a former State-level football player, and his Indian wife were arrested on Monday in India for duping people on the pretext of custom clearance for gifts sent by them, the police said on Wednesday, Times of India reports.
They have duped a social worker, the police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the accused, identified as Ifeanyi Joachin Nwafor, who has played for three State-level teams in Chennai and Kerala, and his wife were arrested from Dabri on Monday.
The police said that the social worker, who runs an NGO, approached them and said that one George Moor, a UK-based man, had requested her to accept gifts for the poor in India.
She said she then got a call from a woman, who claimed that she was from the Customs Department and that the complainant would have to pay money to receive the gifts. The victim paid over ₹1 lakh on two occasions. She, however, got suspicious after more money was demanded.
After she approached the police, an investigation was taken up and bank account details were sought. The CCTV footage of the ATMs from where the deposited money was withdrawn were also scanned, after which the accused were arrested.
“During interrogation, it was found that Nwafor is from Nigeria. In 2009, he had come to India on a business visa. In 2012, he came in contact with the woman [his co-accused] through Facebook, who is from Assam. They later started living together in Delhi and eventually got married,” Mr. Alphonse said.
The police said that Nwafor made several fake Facebook accounts approach people through the social media. After taking them into confidence, he used to tell them about sending precious gifts for them. His wife used to pose as Customs officer and call them, they said.
The police claimed to have recovered over ₹6 lakh that they had collected by from different people by cheating them.
Mobile phones, jewellery, laptops among other articles have also been seized, the police further said.

Not a big deal to me though. How much is Nigeria that their accountants are being chartered? With the way Chinese and UK governments are lending you guys money to foster your economy, even an agriculturist can still manage your economy. Traditional education is overrated in Nigeria as it is nothing but an intellectual sabotage and emotional blackmail to mentally colonize you. Mental colonization is the worst form of slavery. Let's go back to the Nigerian way of doing things and let's stop hyping this college of a thing. Productivity is the goal. Not certificate. Its just small sense you need. |

Onyemadonald: Mr Akintola Williams was born on August 9, 1919 in Lagos State Nigeria. He was born in a wealthy family with generations working with white settlers in Nigeria and the government. His grandfather was a successful merchant while his father, Mr Thomas Ekundayo Williams was a clerk who worked for the colonial office before starting his legal firm in Lagos.
Akintola began his education at Olowogbowo Methodist Primary School, Bankole street, Apongbon, Lagos Island, Lagos, in the early 1930s; He attended the same primary school which his late junior brother Chief Rotimi Williams attended.
During his elementary education, Akintola enjoyed academic success, winning a scholarship to obtain a Diploma in Commerce from Yaba Higher College. Because of the absence of higher education institutions offering Commerce in Nigeria, Akintola Williams travelled to the UK to further his studies in 1944. In 1949, he successfully qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London, UK 3 years after obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of London.
With an undying interest in the Nigerian economy and business sector, he returned to Nigeria in the year 1950 and immediately got a job with the Inland Revenue as an assessment officer. In 1952, Mr Williams resigned from the Inland Revenue to set up Akintola & Co to compete against already established business firms in the capital many of which were not locally owned.
Between 1964 and 1995, his firm Akintola & Co grew so big that he had over 500 staff, branches all over West Africa and partners worldwide. Akintola Williams retired actively at the age of 64 in 1983 but continued to serve his firm and Nigeria. He was part of the team that established the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He was actively involved in the running of these organisations into his old age. In one of the stock exchange ceremony in May 2011, he called on operators to protect the market and ensure there it is scandal free.
Some public sector positions held by Mr Akintola include Chairman of the Federal Income Tax Appeal Commissioners (1958–68), He was also an important member of the Coker Commission of Inquiry into the Statutory Corporations of the old Western Region of Nigeria in (1962), member of the board of Trustees of the Commonwealth Foundation (1966–1975), Chairman of the Lagos State Government Revenue Collection Panel (1973) and Chairman of the Public Service Review Panel to right the wrongs in the Udoji Salary Review Commission (1975).
Other positions held that he held include President of the Metropolitan Club in Victoria Island, Lagos, Founder and Council member of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation. He also saw the need for more Chartered accountants in Nigeria, so Akintola Williams set up the Association of Accountants in Nigeria in 1960 and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He was the first president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants until he retired in 1983.
After retiring, Akintola dedicated his time and effort in various projects in the Arts. He built and establish the centre and concert hall for the Music Society of Nigeria. In 1982, the Federal government of Nigeria honoured him with the Order of the Federal Republic award. He was appointed as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 1997 and the Nigeria-British Association presented him a legacy award in 2011.
With much inspiration from his successful merchant grandfather, Akintola Williams saw a gap in the formal business sector in Nigeria and filled it totally. He was Awarded the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE), Sir Akinola Williams will turn 100 in 2019. He was married to his sweetheart, Mrs Efuntiloye Mabel Williams, who later died on Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

ChangeIsCostant: Report has it that about five girls were given letter of suspension for wearing Hijab in Isolo secondary school in Lagos. This was revealed in a press statement issued by Mutiat Orolu-Balogun, the executive director of Hijab Rights Advocacy Initiative.
This reportedly happened despite that the Court of Appeal ruled that Muslim students can wear hijab to school in Lagos.
Read below;
No fewer than 5 girls including the Assistant Head girl were given letter of suspension for wearing Hijab in school.
The new principal Mrs JO Sadare made it clear that she would not permit the Hijab to be worn in the school, despite the fact that the students has been doing so for more than two years.
The subsisting Judgment of the Court of Appeal in the case of Asiyat Abdulkareem vs LASG stated unequivocally that to wear Hijab by students whether within or outside the school was a Fundamental Human Right entrenched in the constitution.
Mrs Sadare is asking Muslim girls to choose between their religion and getting an education! And she is infringing on the Fundamental Rights of these students.
We are employing all legal and peaceful means to uphold the rights of our children. We implore all well meaning Lagosians, Nigerians and citizens of conscience to support us.
We'll keep you updated as soon as we have more.

happney65: "A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator David Mark, has promised to turn around the economy of the country within two years if elected President of Nigeria in the 2019 general elections.
Mark, a former Senate President, made the promise on Tuesday at the PDP secretariat in Lokoja while on a campaign visit to solicit votes of the state delegates to the presidential primaries in October.
He pledged to do many things differently to revamp the economy saying, “a lot of research had been done on the economy and if given the chance, he would bring them to bear and turn around things.’’
Economic growth under his watch, he said, would experience tremendous change within 700 days, which would be physical rather than based on paper statistics.
He said, “I will do so many things differently. When we put our processes in, the woman who is selling groundnuts by the roadside will feel the impact.
“It is not by mere statistics or indices that we churn out. We want the ordinary people on the streets to feel the impact of the economy on their lives.
“We have young men and women who are neck dip into research and understand the economy of this country.”
On his acceptance by the electorate in the core northern part of the country, Mark said he had equally worked for candidates from the core north and that now it was their turn to support him.
“I think the core north should support us because we also have supported the core north. It is a give and take thing and we are talking about Nigeria.
“We are not talking about a section of this country. If I don’t have a national support, to be honest with you, I would not want to be a President of this country.
“I want to be President of a united and indivisible country called Nigeria. Call it core north, core south or core whatever, wherever they are, let them support me because we too have supported them,” he said.
On consensus candidate, the former Senate President said that would be left for the aspirants and the party to decide.
“Whatever we do, the most important thing is that whoever emerges should emerge through a process that is fair, transparent and credible; whether it is by consensus or by primaries,” he said"

bluecircle470: A last-minute effort by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Bolanle Ambode, to save her husband’s job was said to have hit a brick wall on Tuesday.
It was gathered that Bolanle, who followed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to Osun State on Monday for the Tuesday’s All Progressives Congress’ mega rally for the state governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, waylaid the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and tried to pacify him to change his mind.
Sources told our correspondents that her efforts did not yield any result as Tinubu was said to have “received her cordially and joked with her.”
“At a point, she became emotional despite the fact that many party leaders were there. But Asiwaju (Tinubu) did not give her the answer she desired. He merely treated her with courtesy,” one of the sources said.
The governor and Tinubu have been in the news in the past few days over the second term bid of Ambode.
Tinubu had refused to back Ambode’s second term ambition despite pleas by notable people in the state and the country.
Instead, the Tinubu-led Mandate Movement in the Lagos APC had backed Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who obtained his form last Tuesday.
The chairmen of the 57 councils had also declared support for Sanwo-Olu.
Sawo-Olu, a former commissioner in the state on Sunday formally declared his intention to vie for the Lagos State governorship ticket of the APC, promising to restore the glory of the state.
Notable APC leaders in the state, who were either allies of Tinubu or his followers, were at the declaration.
Meanwhile, sources said the Mandate group had started wooing another aspirant on the APC platform, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.
It was gathered that Tinubu’s men wanted Hamzat, who is from the Lagos East like Ambode, to become the deputy governor with a promise that he would supervise a ministry and also nominate two commissioners into the cabinet.
Hamzat campaign team could not be reached on Tuesday for comment.
PSP operators declare support for Sanwo-Olu
In a related development, the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria on Tuesday made public its intention to support Sanwo-Olu.
The Lagos APC will hold its primary next week to decide who will be its governorship candidate in 2019 election among the incumbent Ambode, Sanwo-Olu, and Hamzat.
At a press conference in their Mushin office on Tuesday, the PSP operators said they believed that Sanwo-Olu, if voted in to replace Ambode, would restore their jobs which the incumbent administration took and gave to a foreign company, Visionscape.
The Vice Chairman of the association, Mr David Oriyomi, who addressed journalists alongside other executive members of AWAM, said the decision to back Sanwo-Olu, was in the interest of about 25,000 workers engaged by the 350 PSP operators, who had lost their jobs.
Oriyomi said the association boasts of no fewer than 150,000 voters at the grass roots, who would be mobilised to help Sanwo-Olu to achieve his governorship ambition.
He expressed the confidence that not only would the emergence of Sanwo-Olu as the next governor of Lagos State help to revive the business of the PSP operators, it would also restore Lagos to its former clean state.
He said, “This injustice should not be allowed to continue, the health and well-being of residents of Lagos must be paramount to all.
“It is, therefore, with great hope that we welcome the emergence of Sanwo-Olu, who has promised to run a participatory government.
“For this reason, we, the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, have decided to align ourselves with Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and pledge our full support to him in the forth- coming elections.
“This decision was taken in the best interest of the environment. We remain committed to servicing the great residents of the centre of excellence. It is time to clean up our city; we did it before, we are able and willing to actualise the Lagos of our dreams.
“We did not just choose to support Sanwo-Olu; we looked at the aspirants. We have the incumbent, we have Femi Hamzat and we have Sanwo-Olu.
“The incumbent, we have seen what he has to offer when it comes to waste management in the state – there is nothing he can offer us.
“Then Hamzat, we have not heard much from his camp; but Sanwo-Olu named the issue of the environment as one of the critical issues that he is going to tackle,” Oriyomi said.

Career › Re: PHOTOS: Nigerian Becomes World's Highest Paid Robotics Engineer by foreshore(m): 8:59am On Sep 19, 2018 |
Newshelm: 26-year-old Nigerian, Silas Adekunle is now the highest paid in the field of Robotic Engineering. Adekunle, credited for building the world’s first gaming robot, achieved this feat after signing a new deal with the world’s reputable software manufacturers, Apple Inc.
The mouthwatering deal is worth Millions of Dollars.
Leadership reports that the robotics engineer was also named as “Someone to Watch in 2018” by the Black Hedge Fund Group. Adekunle is currently the founder and CEO of Reach Robotics, a company developing the world’s first gaming robots.
He also recently graduated with a 1st class degree and has four years’ background in robotics. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Adekunle studied in Nigeria before relocating to the UK as a teenager.
After completing his secondary school education, he proceeded to the University of the West of England where he graduated with a first class in Robotics. In 2013, he founded Reach Robotics and developed a lot of experience on robotics within a space of four years.
Adekunle was also a team leader of Robotics In Schools programme, a programme which encourages and pays attention to students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The programme encouraged him to develop robotics to make education more entertaining for STEM students.
In 2017, MekaMon, he released the world’s first gaming robot, with the special ability to customise the gaming bot to perform personalised functions.
The initial launch of Mekamon sold 500 bots, generating $7.5 million, according to The Guardian. Following this feat, Adekunle received support from various organisations including London Venture Partners ($10 million) and in the same year, his company, Reach Robotics signed a deal with Apple securing exclusive sales in Apple stores.
Sadly, Adekunle can't help Nigeria as he won't have time for NYSC drama.

Kingsmeal: In its continuous effort to rid the state of illicit drugs and banned substances, the operatives of Lagos State Police Command, attached to Maroko Division, on Sunday, September 16th, at about 1200hrs, while on routine anti crime patrol, intercepted a Volks Wagen Gulf saloon car, red colour, with registration number KJA 377 EY.
When the car was searched, seven bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp (Cannabis marijuana), carefully hidden to avoid being seized by security operatives, were recovered from the two occupants, namely, Tajudeen Amanda, 60 years and Rasheed Kehinde, 31 years.
The suspects who were arrested by the team at Ghetto waterside, Marwa, Lekki Phase one, are currently undergoing interrogation at Maroko Police station. Both men have confessed to the crime stating that the weeds believed to be Indian hemp are meant for consumers in the state, mainly youths.
The Command Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, advises those dealing in illicit drugs and banned substances to have a change of heart as their quest for money is adversely affecting the wholesome development of our youths. He warns that the Command will be unrelenting in arresting drug dealers and users in the state.
