PoliticsAPC Leaders Mobilise Osun Residents Against Planned Summit by FORUMgod(op): 5:02pm On Jul 21, 2015
The All Progressives Congress leaders in Ijesa zone, Osun State, have asked residents of the state to mobilise against conveners of the summit on education and finance scheduled to hold in Osogbo and put them to shame.
The Secretary of the party in the zone, Femi Kujembola, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday.
Two of the conveners of the summit, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, and a former Attorney General of Osun State, Mr. Niyi Owolade had announced on Friday that the summit would hold on Thursday. They stated that the summit was being organised to enable knowledgeable people come up with solutions to the problems confronting the state.
But the APC leaders described the conveners of the summit as people who had credibility problem while accusing them of being surrogates of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said, “The key players in the proposed summit could never be the saviour. When did the PDP become concerned about education and finance in the state?. They failed to make impact when they had the opportunity in sixteen years and left everything to decay.
“The Ijesha zone APC, wish to urge our members, indigenes and the entire people of the state to disregard and dissociate themselves from this group and its efforts to cause chaos by the PDP surrogate.
“We are also appealing to the people of the state to mobilise against the actors in the so called questionable summit and shame them. We are urging security agencies in particular to be on the red alert, and nip in the bud any tendency that could provoke violence in the state. “
The APC leaders alleged that the conveners of the summit were professional detractors who wanted to capitalise on the financial challenges in the country to bring Osun State down.
He, however, stated that the PDP would not get through the back door what it lost during the August 9 governorship election which was conducted in 2014.

Meanwhile, a group known as The Patriots has called on the State Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Security Services and the Commandant of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps to beef up security across the state to void any likely breach of peace and order by the “suspected opposition elements who are planing violent protest.”
The group expressed concern over recent protests which was characterised by violence as a result of non payment of salaries.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an aspirant in the 2016 governorship election in Edo State, Mr. Matthew Iduoiriyekemwen has insisted that if President Muhammadu Buhari must embark on probing the activities of past regimes in the country, he must not probe former President Goodluck Jonathan alone but extend it to 1999.

President Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari
Iduoiriyekemwen, who spoke with Vanguard on Tuesday, in an interview in Benin said that while he welcomed the decision of the Buhari administration to probe Jonathan, it should not be a way to discredit the former President’s government.

“There is nothing wrong in probing. What is wrong in probe is when it becomes witch-hunt. Yes, we are in a democratic regime, if President Muhammadu Buhari wants to probe the activities of past regimes, he should look at what has been happening in this country from 1999.

“There has been a lot of maladministration and corruption, there has been a lot of stealing and wasting of government resources and if he wants to probe, he must extend it to 1999 till date,” he said.

PoliticsBuhari Promises Transparent, Improved Privatisation Programme by FORUMgod(op): 3:10pm On Jul 21, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday assured international investors that his administration would continue the major privatisation programme started by previous governments but with “improved moral architecture.”

He also promised to ensure that the process of procuring the country’s visa is simplified.

Buhari gave the assurances at a business forum organised by the United States Chamber of Commerce and The Corporate Council on Africa in continuation of his ongoing four-day official visit to the US.

He urged US investors to take advantage of the nation’s liberal trade and investment climate to invest in the various profitable businesses available in Nigeria.

The President said his government’s intention was to continue to create enabling environment for future investments to thrive in the country.

He said, “It is my intention to create the necessary environment for future investment in Nigeria.

“We are the most populous nation with largest market in Africa with vast human and natural resources and blessed with abandoned young skilled workforce.

“We are therefore a proud candidate to become the destination of choice for United States investments in Africa. I. work assiduously to welcome new investors to our country.

“I will like to remind you all that we are continuing in major privatisation programme with sectors ranging from telecommunication, energy, gas, solid minerals, aviation, health and infrastructural development, but with improved moral architecture. We will also simplify visa procedures based on principle of reciprocity.

“May I, therefore, seize this opportunity to formally invite the American business community to take advantage of our liberal trade and investment climate to do profitable business in Nigeria.”

The President also enjoined the business communities in the US to take advantage of the excellent political relationship between the two nations to expand trade and investment activities, including joint venture projects in priority sectors of the Nigerian economy.

He said the private sector must assume increasing role as part of engine of growth.

Specifically, Buhari said his government would welcome genuine investors who were willing to embark on solid mineral exploration in Nigeria.

He pledged that his administration would fulfill its key campaign promises which included creation of employment opportunities for millions of Nigerian youths.

He added, “Employment generation was one of my key campaign promises. I will do my best to keep this promise.

“There is no other way to expand economic opportunities and create employment opportunities for millions of our youths than boosting domestic manufacturing, undertaking infrastructural development and industrialisation.

“Let me repeat, Nigeria will partner with genuine investors who are willing to join us to achieve our economic objective and at the same time realise handsome returns to recoup their investments.

“There is more to Nigeria than oil. This is why I will continue to stress the need for increased United States investments in our non-oil sector.

“In this respect, the present administration will be attentive to the needs of the business community and pursue policies that will strengthen the sectors that drive the growth.’’

Buhari added that he would focus on prudence, accountability, good governance, respect for the rule of law, strict compliance with, and observant of contractual agreements.

He noted that Nigeria had enormous economic potentials that required heavy funding, which could not be sourced locally in Nigeria alone.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Corporate Council on Africa, Mr. Paul Hinks, expressed the readiness of American investors to do business with the new government in Nigeria.

He, therefore, invited Buhari to chair the Council’s summit slated for Ethiopia in November.

The Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects as it commenced investigation into the killing of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Salawe Daramola.

The command’s spokesman, Kenneth Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.

Nwosu, who did not mention if the two suspects were politicians, however, said they were arrested during the Sallah celebration in different parts of the state.

He disclosed that the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for investigation.

The two gunmen who came on a motorcycle on Thursday evening shot dead Daramola, a chieftain of APC in Ward B in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.

It was learnt that the assailants stormed the deceased’s residence at K Close, 3rd Avenue, FESTAC Town and shot him at close range three times.

The suspects allegedly arrived the place at about 5.30 p.m. to perpetrate the dastardly act.

Nwosu said the suspects were first interrogated by the Area E Commander, ACP Frank Mba to ascertain their level of involvement, and from there they were allegedly indicted before being taken to SCID. (NAN)

RomanceMy Husband Bought Me A Love Machine To Compliment His Non-performance by FORUMgod(op):
I got married six months ago to the man of my dreams. He is everything a woman wants in a man except that he is small 'down there'. Of course I knew he was small before I married him but I didn't give it too much attention as it was always complimented with his long stay. I started noticing that he doesn't go beyond 5 minutes during our honeymoon and that continued until I started drawing his attention to it. It went beyond drawing his attention to crying. Last weekend, he opened up to me that he was taking drugs to meet up but that the drugs are now affecting him so he had to stop.
I felt betrayed and bitter. Had I known... anyway, he returned that evening and handed me a gift bag, I wondered how a gift would compliment his non performance only to realize the content. Lo and behold, it was a Love Machine! I became utterly resigned before he went on his knees and asked me to compliment him using the Love Machine. I am really confused. I don't know what to do or who to talk to. My communication with him has never been the same since then and we've not made love. Please help me share this for advice.

PoliticsObasanjo Should Let Jonathan Be – Fayose by FORUMgod(op): 11:50am On Jul 20, 2015
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to stop attacking the immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, saying; “Dr Goodluck Jonathan is no longer the president of Nigeria, he should be allowed to live a private life devoid of mudslinging from elder statesmen like Chief Obasanjo.”

Governor Fayose said he was miffed that former President Obasanjo could choose the 11th Convocation Lecture of Benson Idahosa University (BIU) Benin, Edo State to say that “performance of Jonathan while in office will hunt the people of the South-South region for a long time to come.”

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Monday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said the people of the South South had already demonstrated their approval of Jonathan’s performance while in office by voting overwhelmingly for him on March 28 despite the gang-up orchestrated by Chief Obasanjo and his allies.

“Most importantly, Jonathan’s performance as a democrat has been widely acknowledged locally and internationally, particularly by President Mohammadu Buhari, who on many occasions acknowledged the role he (Jonathan) played in midwifing a peaceful and successful transition programme, thereby averting the feared crisis in the country.

“This is in contrast to Baba Obasanjo, who tried third term when he was about concluding his constitutional two terms. And who knows whether he would have tried fourth term if he had succeeded with his third term agenda?

“The reality is, assuming but not conceding that Jonathan performed below expectation, democratic governance that he established in Nigeria is more important than any other performance that Obasanjo alluded to,” the governor said.

Speaking further, Governor Fayose urged Obasanjo to stop running other Nigerians down, saying; “We are all stakeholders in the country Nigeria. It is wrong for any Nigerian no matter how highly placed to go about carrying himself around as the only honest and lover of the country.”

The governor said; “since Baba Obasanjo has openly destroyed his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card, he is free to go about seeking relevance in the All Progressives Congress (APC) without running anyone down.”

He said people living in glass houses should avoid throwing stones, adding that Nigerians know those involved in the Halliburton scandal and people who are yet to be cleared of their alleged complicity in a scam like Halliburton lacked moral rights to brand other people as corrupt.

PoliticsAdelabu Penkelemesi Is My Political Role Model — Obasanjo by FORUMgod(op): 10:21am On Jul 20, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that he believed in the political philosophy of the first Federal Minister of Social Services and Natural Resources, Adegoke Adelabu popularly called ‘Penkelemesi’ , describing him as his political role model.

Obasanjo said the political philosophy of the late politician was devoid of ethnic and tribal considerations, but focused on a united Nigeria.
He stated this while receiving the family of the late Ibadan-born politician, who visited him on Saturday in Abeokuta, saying, majority of Nigerians are still struggling to reach the pinnacle Adelabu attained in politics.

Obasanjo, who accepted the offer to be the patron of the posthumous centenary birthday celebration of the late politician, described the late Adelabu as a detribalised Nigerian.

Some members of the Adelabu family, who were led by an Ibadan chief and a former broadcaster, Aare Tunde Alabi, said they were in Obasanjo’s house to seek his help in giving a befitting ceremony to the first African Manager of UAC Haberdashery, Lagos.
According to Obasanjo, Adelabu was years ahead of his political contemporaries, adding that he advocated for United State of West Africa before his demise.

He said, “Adelabu was not just a historic figure, he was a reality, he was a phenomenon, he was uniquely Yoruba, uniquely Nigerian, uniquely African and uniquely a member of human race.

“What you are proposing to do, I believe Adelabu deserved it in every facet. Today, we are still struggling to reach the pinnacle or the pedestrial Adelabu reached in politics, of not being swayed by linguistic, ethnic, tribal, regional, sectional consideration but by what is best for Nigeria.

“He was years ahead of his contemporary politicians. In his life time, he was talking of United State of West Africa, ECOWAS came up years after his demise. In his lifetime, he belonged to a political party that has its base outside the western region where he came from. He was not a tribal baron, but a national politician.

“So, when you asked me to be the patron of Adelabu posthumous centenary birthday celebration, I have no reason to say no.”

“I have no reasons to say ‘no’ because, I share what Adelabu stood for, I share Adelabu’s philosophy of a united Nigeria and believe, I share Adelabu’s view of politics beyond ethnicity, beyond tribe, beyond region and I believe that in our national life, we should extol the virtues like the one we saw in Adelabu, a man of the people, down to earth, absolutely down to earth and yet, a man who believed that his politics must be above ethnicity, must be above tribe, must be to unite the country while, of course, uplifting his own people.

“On behalf of the family who asked me to accept this and having accepted this, I will do my utmost best to contribute to making that day you have chosen to celebrate the birthday a success and also to use it to remind those who may like to forget that there was, even before independent, men and Nigerians like Adelabu who believed in the unity of this country, who lived for it and indeed died for it.”
Earlier, Aare Alabi who gave a brief bio data of the leader of opposition in Western House of Assembly between 1956 and 1958 pleaded to Obasanjo to ‘carry Adelabu to the world’
.
