7 Things We Do Believe

About sin
All sin is wrong. A few examples of sin are: pride, lying, laziness, masturbation, manipulation (witchcraft), arrogance, selfishness, fornication, lust, homosexuality, idolatry, gluttony and theft of any kind. We mention these because we’ve found that many don’t believe these are sins, or, that the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:1-2, 23; James 4:17; Gal 5:16-18; 22-23).

We believe that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world and that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance, confession, and faith in Jesus Christ. (John 3:16, 1 John 1:7-9; Eph 1:6-7; Heb 9: 22)

We believe without faith, it’s impossible to please God and that faith leads to obedience and good works, but it is not the good works that saves us, it is obedience to and faith in Jesus Christ (Heb 11:6,8; Eph 2:8-10).

About the Holy Spirit
Without the Holy Spirit of God, no man belongs to our Father in heaven. All men must be born again by the Holy Spirit in order to understand spiritual things and to enter into heaven (John 3:5-7; 1 Cor 2:14; 1 Cor 6:9-11; 2 Thess 2:13, Rom 8:9,16)

We believe in the indwelling, the filling, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:15-18; Acts 1:5-6; Acts 2:4; John 14:16- 17; Rom 8:9)

We believe only the Holy Spirit enables us to live a holy life by yielding and letting him work in and through us. (2 Thess 2:13; Rom 8:6-14; Rom 12:2)

We are not under the law, but under the grace of God. We believe legalism is a sin, so we must be led by the Holy Spirit. Now, while the Holy Spirit will lead us to do good works, it is not the works that save us, it is our faith in Jesus Christ (Rom 6:14; Gal 5:18; Titus 2:11-12 NIV; Eph 2:8-10; Gal 5:22-23).

About Church
We believe that there is a false church and a true church. The false church resembles the real one, but at a closer look, we see sin is on a rampage, the bible isn’t the authority, and there is no real power of the Holy Spirit at work (2 Cor 11:3-4; 2 Tim 3:5; Rev 17:4-5).

We believe that the church is the collection of believers who have been born again and are the body of Christ. We do not believe that a single individual is the church (1 Cor 12:27; Col 1:18.24).

We believe in the 9 gifts that are distributed from the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:9-10), the 5 administrations that are distributed from the Lord Jesus (Eph 4:11) and the 7 operations that are distributed from God the Father (Romans 12:6-8 ), all of which orginate from the same God (1 Cor 12:4-6, Rom 11:29).

We believe that those who are called to lead (Rom 12:8 ) are to be servants to Jesus Christ and to the people, and that we are to follow their example, but ONLY as they follow Jesus’ example (Matt 20:25-28; 1 Cor 11:1 KJV).

Fasting, fellowship, praise, prayer and bible study are essential to spiritual growth (Matt 17:19,21; Heb 10:23-25; Ps 150:6; Matt 6:9-15; Ps 1:2).

About Our Focus
Our main focus should be on Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. We believe this starts with self-denial to follow Christ. (Matt 6:33; Matt 16:24)

We must strive for perfection, purity (maturity in Christ), because Christ is coming back for a bride without spot or blemish. With the Holy Spirit’s help, she (us, the church) will made herself ready for Christ (Eph 5:26-27; Rev 19:7).

We must love each other and people in the world according to the bible’s view of love and not the world’s view of love. We must love Jesus by keeping his commandments — this is what he considers love. (1 Cor 13:4-7; John 14:15)

We are to love everyone and hate their sin. We are not to hate other human beings (Rom 12:9; Ps 97:10)

Demons and Hell
Demons exist in our present world right now and we have to deal with them (Eph 6:12; Luke 10:19; James 4:7)

We believe in the resurrection of both, the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. (Matt 25:31-34, 41, 46)

God and his Word
We believe the bible is inspired, and whole and only infallible word of God. The bible is the standard we come from (2 Tim 3:16; Proverbs 30:5).

God speaks in various ways: through men, dreams, situations, audibly, from inside our minds and through his Holy Scriptures (Hab 2:1-2; 1 Kings 19:12; Acts 2:1-4).

Deity and the Trinity
There is one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (1 Tim 3:16; Matt 28:19)

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations.

5 Things We Don’t Believe

The “Works” Gospel
Response: No amount of our own work can make us acceptable to God and get us into heaven. Our works are like filthy rags (stinky, menstrual pads) to God (Isaiah 64:6; Eph 2:8-10)

All roads lead to God.
Response: All roads, apart from Christ, lead to hell. Jesus said, “He is the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father (God) but through him” (John 14:6).

There is no hell…
…or if there is one, it is not eternal. Response: Jesus said, “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matt 25:46; 2 Thess 1:9; Matt 13:50).

We’re eternally secure.
Response: We are NOT eternally secure apart from Christ. There is no sin in Christ. So to sin, we must step away and outside of the security of Christ. Without Christ we cannot be saved. If we willfully continue in sin, we’re in danger of losing our salvation because salvation is only found in Christ (John 15:4; 1 Tim 5:12; Rom 8:12-17; Heb 10:39; Matt 10:22, 24:13; 2 Tim 2:12; 1 Cor 15:1-2).

Some sins are OK…
…just as long as you commit them in moderation. I have never heard anyone say this overtly, but they sure do act like it when they frown on some sins like fornication, but sweep lying and arrogance under the rug. Response: No sin is OK, just as long as you do it in moderation. The whole reason why the world is a mess is because of sin (Rom 6:23; James 4:17; ).

A few reasons why this network is different:
This fellowship network has a biblical standard for participation unlike other Christian networks.
This network is based off the the biblical standard of love found in 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 and not the world’s view of love.
This network is specifically catered to those without a local fellowship who have left the institutional church.
This network is about spiritual growth and edification rather than idle online socializing and doctrinal debating.

While chat and email will be the initial means of communication, this network is about finding local fellowships to connect with face-to-face.

Welcome to LPG,a Christian fellowship network - http://letspleasegod.com/

This is a network to help connect believers without a fellowship with others in their local city.

This is an online fellowship for believers who don't have a local fellowship. This is a network and a fellowship in agreement
with the goal to please God.

Why was this network created?

Many of God’s children have left the institutional church (IC) and there are very few churches or Christians in which they can connect to without compromising and being persecuted for their beliefs. While it’s tempting to settle for the sake of fellowship, the bible commands us not to do so (2 Jn 1:9-11; 1 Cor 5:11-13; 2 Thess 3:6). For this reason this leaves us alone. But God has not called us to walk alone (Heb 10:23-25). Therefore this network was created to connect like-minded believers.

Why is fellowship so important?

1: While Jesus is with us as we obey him, when Christians come together, Jesus is present in a stronger way (Matt 18:20).
2: When dealing with the enemy, there is strength in numbers (Eccl 4:9-12).
3: Fellowship matures us, helps us hold on to what we believe and keeps us on track (Heb 10:24-25, Prov 27:17).
4: The body of Christ cannot operate successfully without all his parts — you have something to contribute (Eph 4:11-16).
5: We were made to fellowship with one another, with God as the center.

What do we mean by “Agreement”?

After one leaves the IC, they will naturally seek a new fellowship, but they often run into other Christians with beliefs contrary to the bible which don’t allow for a healthy relationship. What people believe dictates their lifestyle and how they treat others. The bible says, “How can two walk together unless they both agree? (Amos 3:3; 2 Cor 6:14-15). Therefore in order for this network to be successful there must be one common understanding and agreement on the fundamentals of the bible.

What’s the Agenda?

Study the word of God together and apply it in our lives.

Learn to love one another despite our differences. Learn unity in Christ.

Discover your specific gifts and functions and operate in them.

Testify of what the Lord is doing and how great he is to you.

Have meals together, take care of one another and have favor with each other.

Mature in faith, exhort one another, keep each other accountable and on track.

Overcome the devil and sin through the Holy Spirit.

Be ready to defend your faith and preach the gospel as the Spirit leads.

Heal the sick, cast out demons, and help the poor and needy.

Disciple new believers

Pray together

Praise God together

Christianity EtcDemas's Costly Love Affair by Fr0sbel(op): 1:07pm On Feb 09, 2012
"For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world" (2 Tim. 4:10). In this passage we find the third and final mention of Demas in Scripture. In Colossians 4:14 he is listed as one sending greetings to the church at Colosse. In Philemon 24 he is named as a fellow-worker of Paul. In 2 Timothy 4, though, he is identified as a deserter from the Lord's work because he "loved this present world."

We are not told whether his love for the world was centered on any one thing. We are told only that he loved it and what that love for the world caused him to do. Christians are commanded not to love the world (1 John 2:15-17).

We often speak of "costly love affairs" because those affairs cause homes to be broken, children to suffer, reputations to be ruined, wealth to be sacrificed, etc. Yet, none has ever been costlier than the love affairs Demas and others like him have had with the world.

Loving the world carries the highest price one can pay for anything: to be without God and without hope (Eph. 2:12). Continued fellowship with God requires walking with Him in His will (1 John 1:5-7).

Friendship with the world makes one an enemy of God (Jas. 4:4). Anyone who loves the world does not have the love of the Father in him.

The one who claims to be a Christian but who flirts with the world is only deceiving himself. He must be made to realize the great cost of unfaithfulness -- his soul (Matt. 16:26).

In addition to hurting himself, Demas did great damage to the cause of Christ. In abandoning it, he deprived it of a devoted worker and robbed it of all the good he might have accomplished had he remained faithful. We can only wonder how many lives he could have helped if he had stayed loyal to the Lord.

There is also the matter of his influence. Others, most likely, became disheartened and discouraged by his example. He was probably a discouragement to his family and friends for no one can do as he did without encouraging others to do the same (Prov. 1:10-15). Like every willful sinner, he crucified the Son of God anew and put Him to an open shame (Heb. 6:4-6; 10:29).

Demas robbed the world of the flavor of righteousness imparted unto it by godly living. He snuffed out another desperately needed light in a sin-darkened world (Phil 2:15).

Someone has said, "Every 'Demas' who leaves the truth makes it a little more difficult for some 'Cornelius' to learn the truth or some 'Timothy' to be reared in it."

Demas' love affair with this world was certainly costly. Most tragically, if there was no genuine repentance on his part, it cost him his soul (Matt. 16:26). Doing as he did hurts all and profits no one. Do not make the mistake of Demas. Do not love this present world.

Christianity EtcHow Can I Recognize A False Teacher / False Prophet? by Fr0sbel(op): 12:45pm On Feb 09, 2012
Question: "How can I recognize a false teacher / false prophet?"

Answer: Jesus warned us that “false Christs and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even God’s elect (Matthew 24:23-27; see also 2 Peter 3:3 and Jude 17-18). The best way to guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers is to know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Any believer who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) and who makes a careful study of the Bible can identify false doctrine. For example, a believer who has read the activities of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Matthew 3:16-17 will immediately question any doctrine that denies the Trinity. Therefore, step one is to study the Bible and judge all teaching by what the Scripture says.

Jesus said “a tree is recognized by its fruit” (Matthew 12:33). When looking for “fruit,” here are three specific tests to apply to any teacher to determine the accuracy of his or her teaching:

1) What does this teacher say about Jesus?
In Matthew 16:15-16, Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answers, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” and for this answer Peter is called “blessed.” In 2 John 9, we read, “Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.” In other words, Jesus Christ and His work of redemption is of utmost importance; beware of anyone who denies that Jesus is equal with God, who downplays Jesus’ sacrificial death, or who rejects Jesus’ humanity. First John 2:22 says, “Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.”

2) Does this teacher preach the gospel? The gospel is defined as the good news concerning Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). As nice as they sound, the statements “God loves you,” “God wants us to feed the hungry,” and “God wants you to be wealthy” are not the complete message of the gospel. As Paul warns in Galatians 1:7, “Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” No one, not even a great preacher, has the right to change the message that God gave us. “If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:9).

3) Does this teacher exhibit character qualities that glorify the Lord? Speaking of false teachers, Jude 11 says, “They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.” In other words, a false teacher can be known by his pride (Cain’s rejection of God’s plan), greed (Balaam’s prophesying for money), and rebellion (Korah’s promotion of himself over Moses). Jesus said to beware of such people and that we would know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-20).

For further study, review those books of the Bible that were written specifically to combat false teaching within the church: Galatians, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, and Jude. It is often difficult to spot a false teacher/false prophet. Satan masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), and his ministers masquerade as servants of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:15). Only by being thoroughly familiar with the truth will we be able to recognize a counterfeit.

Christianity EtcFour Radical Muslim Men Admit London Stock Exchange Bomb Plot by Fr0sbel(op): 1:23pm On Feb 01, 2012
https://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/58227000/jpg/_58227251_stockexchange_464_suspects.jpg

Four men inspired by al-Qaeda have admitted planning to detonate a bomb at the London Stock Exchange.

Mohammed Chowdhury, Shah Rahman, Gurukanth Desai and Abdul Miah pleaded guilty to engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism.

The men, from London and Cardiff, were arrested in December 2010 and were set to stand trial at Woolwich Crown Court.

Five other men have pleaded guilty to other terrorism offences and all nine will be sentenced next week.

The men, who are all British nationals, had been inspired by the preachings of the recently-killed radical extremist Anwar Al-Awlaki.

It emerged that those who admitted planning to target the London Stock Exchange wanted to send five mail bombs to various targets during the run up to Christmas 2010 and discussed launching a "Mumbai-style" atrocity.

They were certainly dangerous enough for the police and MI5 to have placed them under surveillance, and ultimately arrest them. The homes of some of them had been searched as long ago as 2008.

A the end of 2010 two of them scouted high profile targets in London and discussed with others the possibility of blowing up the London Stock Exchange. Others talked about putting bombs in the post, even suggesting one be hidden in a toy doll.

The men from Stoke got as far as pondering the logistical problems of religiously observant muslims planting bombs in pub toilets.

And they were surveillance-aware too, warning each other about the possibility of bugs in their cars, and meeting outdoors in secluded places like country parks.

No explosive materials were bought - and no bombs planted. But that may have been different had they not been arrested.

Fantasy could have become reality.

A hand-written target list discovered at the home of one of the men listed the names and addresses of London Mayor Boris Johnson, two rabbis, the US embassy and the Stock Exchange.

The conspiracy was stopped by undercover anti-terror police before firm dates could be set for attacks.

The terrorists met because of their membership of various radical groups and stayed in touch over the internet, through mobile phones and at specially arranged meetings.

They gathered in parks in a bid to make surveillance difficult.

The court heard that Chowdhury, 21, and his London accomplice Rahman, 28, were followed by undercover detectives on 28 November 2010, observing Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and the Palace of Westminster.

Chowdhury, of Stanliff House, Tower Hamlets and Rahman, of St Bernard's Road, Newham, admitted preparing for acts of terrorism by planning to plant an improvised explosive device in the toilets of the London Stock Exchange.

A jury had been sworn in to hear the trial before the defendants changed their pleas to guilty.

Addressing the jurors as they were discharged, Andrew Edis QC, for the prosecution, said that the four involved in the Stock Exchange plot had not intended to maim and kill.

"Their intention was to cause terror and economic harm and disruption. But their chosen method meant there was a risk people would be maimed or killed," he said.

The men admitted the offences after a special hearing which allows a defendant to hear from the judge what sentence they may receive if they plead guilty on the eve of a trial.

Chowdhury was told by judge Mr Justice Wilkie indicated that he would receive 18-and-a-half years and Rahman was told he would receive a maximum of 17 years.

Brothers Gurukanth Desai, 30, of Albert Street, Cardiff, and Abdul Miah, 25, of Ninian Park Road, Cardiff, also admitted the same count, namely preparing for acts of terrorism by planning to plant an improvised explosive device in the toilets of the London Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, Omar Latif, 28, of Neville Street, Cardiff, admitted attending meetings with the intention of assisting others to prepare or commit acts of terrorism.

Four of the nine-man group are from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

The quartet talked about leaving homemade bombs in the toilets of their city's pubs and discussed travelling abroad for terror training.

Three of the Stoke contingent admitted a lesser, specific charge - engaging in conduct for the preparation of terrorism between 1 November and 21 December 2010 - namely travelling to and attending operational meetings, fundraising for terrorist training, preparing to travel abroad and assisting others in travelling abroad.

Usman Khan, 20, of Persia Walk, Mohammed Shahjahan 27, of Burmarsh Walk and Nazam Hussain, 26, of Grove Street, all Stoke, admitted attending operational meetings in Roath Park, Cardiff on 7 November and in a Newport country park on 12 December.

The fourth Stoke defendant, Mohibur Rahman, 27, of North Road, admitted possessing two editions of al-Qaeda magazine Inspire for terrorist purposes.

IslamShi'ahs Do Not Believe In The Present Qur'an To Be Authentic For Three Reasons by Fr0sbel(op): 11:55am On Feb 01, 2012
The Shi'ahs do not believe in the present Qur'an to be authentic for three reasons:

First reason: The first reason ties in with the Shi'ite belief that that all the Companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), the transmitters of the Qur'an, were liars. In addition, they belief that the Imams of the ahl al-Bait were also liars, and used to observe taqiyyah (religious dissimulation). If all the Sahabah and the member of the Prophetic household were lairs, from whence did they receive the original Qur'an from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.)?

Second reason: The Sahabah, the lairs and fibbers in Shi'ite estimation, narrated the Qur'an and were responsible for its propagation and widespread recitation. On the other hand, the Imams of the Ahl al-Bait did not have the privilige and the opportunity of narrating it or verifying it, how can they then accept the present Qur'an to be perfect and in its entirety?

Third reason: There are more than two hundred narrations (regarded as authentic by Shi'ahs) in Shi'ite primary sources which testify that the present Qur'an has been tampered with, some things added, and some omitted. Not one Shi'ite narration speaks of the veracity of the present Qur'an, and according to them, it only occupies the status of an isolated tradition (khabr wahid).

However, some Shi'ahs have rejected the notion that the present Qur'an is fabricated, and they quote four Shi'ite scholars in this regard: Sharif Murtada, Abu Ja'far Tusi, Abu 'Ali Tabarsi, and Shaikh Saduq.

Using the findings and statements of these four scholars is not valid as the edifice of Shi'ism rests upon the infallible Imams. Most of all the narrations attesting to the present skimpy state of the Qur'an originate from them. What weight does these four Shi'ite scholars hold in comparison to the old scholars and authorities of Shi'ism and their immutable Imams?

Even if the verdict of these four scholars are accepted, it has been found that they had employed the principle of taqiyyah when stating that the present Qur'an has not been fabricated. Husain ibn Muhammad Taqi al-Nuri al-Tabarsi, a Shi'ite scholar, has proven this for us. He says regarding their verdict: "None of the earlier scholars have concurred to their view." (Faslul Khitab fi Tahrif Kitab Rabb al-Arbab pge 33)

Husain ibn Muhammad Taqi al-Nuri al-Tabarsi further says that the majority of the Shi'ahs believe in the tampering of the Qur'an, and this is the stance of the majority. (Faslul Khitab fi Tahrif Kitab Rabb al-Arbab pge 32)

A few quotations to this effect is given from authentic Shia sources on the matter:

1. Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Kulaini on the authority of Jabir that he heard Abu Ja'far saying: "Whoever claims from amongst the people that he has collected the entire Qur'an as Allah has revealed it is a liar. Only 'Ali and the Imams after him had collected it and memorized it as Allah had revealed it." (Usul al-Kafi, Chapter that the Qur'an was not entirely collected except by the Imams, and they only have all knowledge)

2. Kulaini has narrated on the authority of Salim ibn Salamah who said: "A person recited a portion of the Qur'an to Abu 'Abdullah (Imam Ja'far), and I heard that a few words of the Qur'an which the other people did not recite. At this, Imam Ja'far told him: "Refrain from reciting this way, recite like how the common people recite it until the appearance of the saviour. When he appears, recite the Qur'an to its fullest. I will then reveal the manuscript which 'Ali had written. It is the same manuscript, after writing it, he presented it to the people saying: "This is the Book of Allah as was revealed upon Muhammad (S.A.W.). I have gathered it from the tablets." The people told him: "We already have a manuscript in which the entire Qur'an has been collected. We are not in need of yours." At this, 'Ali told them: "By Allah, I will never show it to you after this day. I was charged to inform you of it after I collected it so that you may recite it." (Usul al-Kafi, Indian edition, pge 68)

3. Kulaini has again narrated on the authority of Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abu Nasr who said: "Abu al-Hasan gave me a manuscript and told me to see what was written therein. I opened it, and under the verse "Those who disbelieve will not??, " were written the names of seventy Quraishites along with the names of their father." (Usul al-Kafi, Indian edition, pge 680)

4. Kulaini again narrates that Abu 'Abdulah said: "Jibra'il descended upon Muhammad with the following verse in this way: "O people of the Book, bring faith in what we have revealed regarding 'Ali, the magnificent light." (Ibid)

5. Some of the Shi'ahs have accused Sayyidian 'Uthman that he had destroyed the original Qur'an by burning it, and all the chapters which contained the virtues of 'Ali and the ahl al-Bait were also destroyed. From amongst these portions is the chapter of wilayat as follows: "In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, Most Merciful. O you who believe, bring faith on the two lights which We have revealed. They will recite My verses to you and will warn you of the punishment of a terrible day. These two lights are of each other, and I am All-Hearing All-Knowing." (Faslul Khitab fi Tahrif Kitab Rabb al-Arbab pge 180)

6. Ahmad ibn Abu Talib Tibirsi narrates on the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (R.A.): "When the Holy Prophet passed away, 'Ali gathered the Qur'an and produced it to the Emigrants (Muhajirun) and the Helpers (Ansar) as the Holy Prophet had bided him to do so. When Abu Bakr opened the first page, he found some denunciation of the Quraish tribe. At this 'Umar leapt forward and said: "O 'Ali, take it back for we are not in need of it." 'Ali took it back. Just then Zaid ibn Thabit, a prominent reciter of the Qur'an appeared, and 'Umar told him: "'Ali was here a short while back with a Qur'an which despises the Emigrants and the Helpers. I think we should compile such a Qur'an wherein all these aspects are omitted." Zaid agreed with him, but he added: "Once I have completed the Qur'an according to this method and 'Ali sees it, will your version be not invalidated?" 'Umar then asked: "What ruse should we employ then?" Zaid replied: "You know better of such ruses." At this 'Umar said: "There is no ruse but to kill 'Ali and obtain comfort from him in this way." 'Umar then thought of having him killed by Khalid ibn al-Walid, but this plan failed. When 'Umar assumed the leadership after some time, the people asked 'Ali to produce his Qur'an. 'Umar asked him: "O 'Ali, produce the Qur'an which you showed Abu Bakr so that we may agree on it." At this, 'Ali said: "This is not possible, I only showed it to Abu Bakr so that the proof may be established on you people, and so that you may not say on the day of Judgement: "We were unaware of it," "You did not produce it." The Qur'an in my possession will not be touched except by the pure, and the designated ones of my family." 'Umar asked: "Is the time known when it will be produced." Upon this 'Ali replied: "Yes, when the saviour of times emerge, it will be produced and all the people will agree to it." (Al-Ihtijaj, Najaf, pge 225. 3. Finally, there is ever-increasing satanic wrath against every devoted follower of Christ.

I believe a messenger of Satan has been assigned to every godly person, and is charged to afflict and harass them every day. If you’re drawing closer to the Lord, then you’re going to face the full wrath of a mad devil.

However, there is a way to turn Satan’s wrath against you into God’s praise. The fact is, we’re not sitting ducks or helpless babies. We have been given weapons and resources that are mighty to the pulling down of satanic strongholds. What is our greatest weapon? It is the promises of Almighty God.

Scripture tells us, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). You may ask, “But how do I resist the enemy?” You do it by feeding on God’s promises, making them part of your very being, and calling on them when you’re under fire, quoting them to the devil. Here is just one example of such a promise:

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee” (Isaiah 41:10–13).
I think of the wrath aimed at Nicky Cruz recently when he preached in London.

Former gang leader Nicky Cruz held evangelistic meetings not long ago in a gang-infested borough of London known as Hackney. The crime rate there was spiraling out of control, and Nicky was invited by the chief of police to speak.

The mayor of Hackney is gay, as are many of the city council members. When they learned Nicky would be speaking, they looked into his website and found a statement saying the Bible calls homosexuality a sin. (The context was Nicky’s response to a letter. Nicky added, “Homosexuality is not the problem — sin is the problem. The same is true of fornication, adultery, violence, and drug and alcohol abuse.”)

These leaders began a campaign to keep Nicky from speaking, and the wrath they brought against him was awful. He was called intolerant and homophobic, and newspapers spread the story across their front pages. Our ministry received e-mail reports about the whole furor.

As all this wrath was being spewed at Nicky, he was advised to make compromising statements to the press. But Nicky refused, instead demanding equal rights to hold public meetings, just as other groups enjoyed. A law firm took up Nicky’s cause and represented him, winning the case.

When Nicky held his meetings in Hackney, the Holy Spirit came and Jesus manifested his power. The auditorium was packed each night, and at week’s end some 1,500 people had asked Jesus into their hearts. That number included some gang leaders, as well as addicts and LovePeddlers. Seven gangs in the area ended up calling for temporary peace. All told, after Nicky’s meetings the crime rate in Hackney dropped 14 percent.

I ask you: was all of that wrath actually directed at Nicky? No, it was aimed at the redeeming power of Christ, the transforming power of the gospel. And it came because there was a great fear of being convicted for sin. Think about it: if drug addicts got delivered from their habits…if murderous gang members were changed and made new creatures in Christ…if homosexuals and LovePeddlers were given a witness that nothing is impossible with Christ, that they could miraculously be set free…if God’s love could reach incorrigible gangs…then his love could break any chain of bondage. Is it any wonder Satan’s wrath was so stirred?
The rage of sinful men against Christ and his church will never be appeased.

No amount of compromise, love or tolerance will ever satisfy this demonic anger and fury. In fact, it’s only going to get worse, much worse. Right now, wrathful forces are gaining increased political power, running for offices worldwide and getting elected.

In some areas of the European Union, it is now illegal to preach Christ with the freedom we enjoy in the U.S. Much gospel preaching is called a “bias crime.” I fear a day is coming when the same will be true in America.

King David was overwhelmed by the anti-God spirit of his day. He cried out to the Lord, “Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred” (Psalm 25:19). Likewise, Psalm 124:2–3 tells us: “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us.”

David the Psalmist expresses what many in the church feel today. At times it seems we’re helpless to stand against the evil forces amassing. Even the courts are involved, hastening our society closer and closer to the gates of hell. I can hardly believe how, day after day, the morals of our country are being trampled into the dirt.

Will the Lord allow this wrath against him and his church to go on, until our society becomes like Sodom, with every man a law unto himself? No, never! Right now, we are experiencing the Lord’s incredible patience. He is going to bring judgment, but all of his judgments are meant to redeem. Isaiah gives us a wonderful picture of this:

“I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them…

“The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies. I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once…

“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

“They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods. Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see” (Isaiah 42:8–9, 13–14, 16–18).

Beloved, the divine grace Isaiah describes turned Saul the persecutor into Paul the apostle. It raised up a multimillion-member church in communist China. It’s sending Islamic refugees into the loving arms of devoted servants of Christ. And right now, at a Teen Challenge center in an Islamic country, it has raised up 500 converted drug addicts who are eager to preach Christ. God is indeed pouring out his redeeming grace in these last days.

We are not to fret over the battles that Satan seems to be winning. The battle we’re in is an eternal one. And the gates of hell will not prevail against Christ’s church. Our Father has declared it: Jesus already reigns as King! ■

2. There is a growing wrath and anger in the hearts of wicked men against the very name of Jesus.

All over the world, there is arising a red-hot hatred for God’s Word. The Bible is despised, mocked and cursed by ungodly men. I ask you: what is it about Jesus’ name that stirs up such anger by its mere mention? No name is so despised in all the world. Yet there can be no salvation in any name but his: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

We know that Jesus’ name has always been hated by wicked men. But now that hatred has turned into a demonic rage. Christ’s name is slowly and subtly being erased from society, by legislative mandates in nations all over the globe.

I received word recently from a very reliable source about an astonishing development in the U.S. military. An attempt is being made to rule that no chaplain, even a Catholic or Protestant, can mention the name of Jesus Christ. The reasoning behind this is unbelievable: “We must have spiritual maturity in a pluralistic society.” What a deception! Think of it: first, to forbid any mention of the name of Jesus, and then to say it’s a matter of spiritual maturity. This is straight out of hell!

Why is there such rage against the Son of God? Why do wicked men shudder at the mention of his name?
It is because of what his name represents: Christ’s name means deliverance from sin. It means freedom from the dominion of sin. It means death to the old, fallen, adamic nature, and entry into newness of life. It means power to forsake and deny all ungodly lusts and pleasures.

But, you see, pleasure lovers don’t want to give up their sensual way of life. Paul says of them, “These people not only love their sins, they fully understand that God’s judgment is against adulterers, fornicators, intimate perversions. And yet they take pleasure in those who do such things. They are haters of God” (Romans 1:28–32, my paraphrase).

Hear what Jehovah God has to say about this satanic wrath against his Son, his Word and his people.

According to the Psalmist, the heathen’s attitude is, “Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” (Psalm 2:3). Translated into modern terms, this reads: “Come now, we can no longer tolerate any condemnation from the Bible. We won’t allow this ’Jesus bondage’ to stop us. We’re going to put into effect laws that break all the old chains of morality. We’ll claim our right to marriage between two men or two women. We’re going to push for the rights of all manner of intimate deviations. We need to break down the old moral boundaries. We’ll claim the moral high ground.”

My Bible tells me what will happen in such an hour. When evil men’s wrath is poised to overwhelm the laws of nature — turning society into an indescribable, Sodom-like hell, where every man is a law unto himself — that’s when our Lord moves in: “Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure” (2:5).

The Psalmist tells us, “They have set up their own standards as holy. They’ve lifted up their earthly axes in a forest of trees to cut down all that is righteous. They’re smashing holy things with hatchets and hammers, and defiling God’s dwelling place” (see Psalm 74:4–7). He then laments, “O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?” (74:10).

That’s when God’s Word tells us the destruction and blasphemy being brought about by man’s wrath won’t last much longer. “Surely the wrath of men shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain” (76:10). How will this happen? Simply put, the more intense the wrath of men becomes, the more God will pour out his grace. “Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20).

We see wonderful examples of this throughout history. Think about how the church of Christ was trampled in China, under the horrible wrath of communism. All forms of religious activity were banned, including Buddhism, the prominent religion in that land. A spiritual vacuum was left, with people empty and hungering. Yet, once again, the wrath of man was turned into the praises of God. The Lord poured out rivers of grace on China, and an underground church sprang up all across the nation. Today the Chinese church numbers in the millions, and it’s still growing strong.

Perhaps the clearest example to me of man’s wrath turning into God’s praise is the testimony of the apostle Paul. Jesus manifested himself to this fierce persecutor of the early church, on the road to Damascus. In a single moment, Paul’s raging hatred for Christ and his church was turned into God’s praise. The entire world is different today as a result.

Even now we’re seeing the wrath of Hezbollah being turned into God’s praise. How? Islamics in South Lebanon fled the war into Jordan and Syria, where many were taken in by Christians. As those believers showed Christ’s unconditional love to the refugees, feeding and housing them, the hearts of the disenfranchised Islamics were being melted. They are now more open to the gospel than ever.

Through all of these examples, I see the Lord answering the Psalmist’s cry: “Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily. Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually” (Psalm 74:22–23).

The Psalmist writes, “Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee” (Psalm 76:10). According to this verse, the wrath of the wicked will one day be turned into praise of Almighty God. What a moment that’s going to be: the tongues of evildoers will only be able to acknowledge and worship the Lord!

My question about this verse is, where does the “wrath of man” come from? Right now a fierce, intense wrath is blanketing the whole earth, something that man isn’t capable of in himself. And this wrath is manifesting itself in multiple ways. Think of it:
[li]Radical Islam is unleashing its angry wrath against all who refuse to bow to Allah.[/li]
[li]In North Korea, a raging, demon-possessed dictator is threatening the world, even as he unleashes cruel oppression and starvation on his own people[/li]
[li] In the Middle East, entire nations have become the devil’s instruments to try to destroy Israel.[/li]
[li]In Europe and the United States, the wrath of those who loathe and despise the name of Jesus is intensifying.[/li]
[li]Finally, there is the wrath of the ungodly who have given themselves over to their sins. They rage in their efforts to throw off God’s rule completely.[/li]
As I consider these present forms of men’s wrath, I realize they aren’t human in nature. There can be no question about it: it is all totally satanic. The Bible gives us these verses to prove it:

The apostle John, speaking of the latter days, writes, “The devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time” (Revelation 12:12).

Jesus said to those who raged against him, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do” (John 8:44). In this one verse, Christ identifies the source of such rage: It isn’t merely human but comes directly from Satan himself.

According to these passages, what we’re facing right now is no less than a hell-directed, demonic rage. It is not just political rage, not mere personal rage, not simply a matter of Islam-versus-Israel. It is much worse.

The Psalmist addresses this phenomenon when he asks in bewilderment: “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed” (Psalm 2:1–2).

It is all a demonic fury directed against Jehovah God and his Son, Jesus Christ. And the various forms this wrath is taking are becoming more and more potent. Right now, we see Christ’s words played out before us on the world stage: the children of Satan are clearly doing their father’s bidding.

1. I think of the worldwide wrath of Islam and other heathen religions that try to establish their god as sovereign ruler of the earth.

Islamic clerics are calling for a worldwide fatwah against all who refuse to worship their false god. In a demonic rage, the enemies of Christ are literally lifting weapons and commanding the masses, “Bow to our god, or die.”

Yet, none of this satanic wrath is new. We see example after example of such demonic madness throughout history. In Daniel 3, King Nebuchadnezzar set up a golden god in Babylon and demanded that it be worshiped. Every official, leader and citizen in Babylon’s one-hundred-plus provinces had to fall down before this god or face death. There were but two choices: bow or burn. If anyone refused to worship Nebuchadnezzar’s idol, they would be roasted alive in huge ovens.

After the decree was issued, three devout young Jews in the kingdom refused to bow. Nebuchadnezzar, in a rage, had them dragged before him and demanded to know: “Who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?” (Daniel 3:15). Here was their answer: “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king” (3:17).

The response of the demon-gripped king was predictable: “Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury…and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated” (3:19). This was purely demonic hatred against Jehovah God. The truth is, all who stand for Christ can expect to encounter such rage. Their obedience always stirs up the rage of those who take directions from Satan.

So, what was the outcome? Whose God prevailed in Babylon? In the midst of this contest, Jesus himself manifested his glory and power. When King Nebuchadnezzar peered into the red-hot oven, he was shocked at what he saw. He cried: “We threw three men into the furnace, but now I see four men. They’re walking around in the fire, and they’re not being burned. In fact, they act as if the roaring flames are nothing. And the fourth man has the appearance of the Son of God!” (Daniel 3:25, my paraphrase).

When Jesus shows up, the game is over. His enemies have to cower before him.

Right now we’re seeing history repeat itself.

Today, Islam is a kind of Babylon with mad leaders like King Nebuchadnezzar. This religion is threatening the whole world with the demand to worship its deity, Allah. Terrorist organizations with Islamic support are demanding: “Bow to Allah, or we will blow up your airplanes. We’ll bomb your towns, trains, buses and tunnels. We’ll kidnap you, torture you and behead you. Allah will rule the world. Islam is going to prevail.”

As we consider such demonic forces, we should turn again to the story of Nebuchadnezzar and those three faithful servants. It tells us that in a single hour, the Lord came down and delivered his servants — and that changed everything. Everything looked different when the Lord manifested his power, causing the king to cry:

“Blessed be the God of (these three men), who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God” (Daniel 3:28). Immediately, Nebuchadnezzar issued a different decree. This one stated that the only God to be worshiped was that of the three young Jews: “Because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort” (3:29).

Let’s return now to the Psalmist, who asked why the heathen nations rage against the Lord. According to him, here is how God responds to such wrath: “He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure” (Psalm 2:4–5).

The Lord himself then declares: “(I) have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion…Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee” (2:6–7). Islamics and other heathen religions may hope to install their gods as king, ruling the globe. But Jehovah God says, “I have already installed my Son Jesus Christ, the Messiah, as king of the heavens and the earth. He is even now Lord of all.”
