Undispu3rd:

Like it or not praying through any means apart from through the name JESUS CHRIST is purely idolatory!

The Bible made it clear when Jesus said "whatsoever you asked in my name, " and also that they is only one mediator between us and GOD which even the pegan knows the answer is Jesus Christ.

Remember the Catholics' use of images, cross, pictures, saints(dead humans), contravane the law that"thou shallt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is the water beneath the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them for IAM, " Deut:8,9.KJV

So brothers and sisters come out of idolatory no matter how glamorous this worship pattern may seemed for God Highly detest idolatory!!!!!!!!!

kanye West:

For this movie to be a success, the true story of Biafra must be told and shown in its best graphic way as possible. It must show how the ibos were throughly brutalized, beaten, crushed, destroyed and almost exterminated. That is the real Biafra stroy. No propaganda to try and reverse the role that Biafra beat the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army must be shown to be in charge shelling the Hell out of the ibos 24/7. grin

Also those hungry looking kwashokior looking biafra children we see on BBC every now and then must be intergrated  into the movie. It must show the pogrom at its very best and the highlight of the movie should be when the Biafra people finally surrendered to the Mighty Nigerian Army and General Obasanjo decided to forgive their stupidity by accepting their shameful surrender to the Nigerian Army.

Now i would pay top dollar to watch that movie over and over again because it would be a classic grin
u must be a very stupid senseless fool to eexpress ur view this way

Religion / This Girl, 13, Recites 255 Biblical Verses Off-hand by franctony(m): 2:39am On Oct 25, 2009
A verse in the book of Psalms of the Holy Bible states that, "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward". This passage was made manifest in the lives of the children of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Ife Agbowo district coordinating council 5, Ibadan during its children's anniversary held last week.

Little will one know that the large congregation was assembled for the children alone,as the auditorium was filled and tents have to be erected outside for members to sit. As the programme of the events progressed steadily, a 13-year old girl, Ifeoluwa Salako whose turn was to entertain the audience startled the congregation when she read the book of Acts of Apostles chapters one to seven off-hand as part of the programme to celebrate the day. The congregation was astonished at this great feat, as they begged that the little girl should not be allowed to proceed to the next chapter. Ifeoluwa was given a standing ovation after which Pastor S.O Faloye prayed for her.

The children were given the opportunity to conduct the service while their coordinators guided them. Melodious songs in various languages were sung by the children choir. At intervals, the children recited the theme of the anniversary which was taken from 1 Timothy Chapter 6 verse 6. As the anniversary opened, the children coordinator, Pastor S.A Ogungbemi gave his opening speech, emphasising the significance of the day and the importance of having children without discriminating between genders,"which ever is given by God is useful and equal before God be it male or female," he said.

Every individual at the anniversary was surprised as the children displayed their talents in different dimensions, few amongs the variety are: choreographies, debates on issues that Christain family, poems composed by them. Another variety that thrilled the congregation was the “contentment package.”

The package was an interactive one drawn from the day's theme, ”But godliness with contentment is gain”. Questions asked included: what is contentment?, why does one need to be contented?, how can one be contented? and is contentment meant for both parents and children?

Children, was the topic of the sermon taken by one of the celebrants,Samuel Oloyede who firstly expressed gratitude to God for giving this rare opportunity to preach.A closing remark was said by the chairperson of the anniversary, Mr S.A Aderounmu, who reminded all of the second coming of Jesus Christ and also admonished parents to teach their children the tenets of a Christian life so that they would not depart from them as they are their glory.

Sports / Fifa U-17 World Cup:n6m Goes Missing At Lagos Centre by franctony(m): 2:06am On Oct 25, 2009
A sum of N6 million meant and approved for the refurbishment of five blocks of building at the Teslim Balogun Hostel for the youth office of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup has disappeared into thin air.

The building, if refurbished, is to accommodate the kids to be used as flagbearers, ball boys and escorts to teams during the championship.

Sunday Tribunesports scooped that funds had been approved and collected by a top officer in the Lagos Sub-Seat in the facility department.

It was also discovered that an agreement have been signed by the facility committee with Vita Foam to provide 116 foams and double bunk beds for the kids but all these were abandoned when the money earmarked for the refurbishment of the blocks at the hotel could not be traced.

The kids, numbering about 58, had been forced to shuttle between the stadium and their houses.

Further findings revealed that the kids are expected by FIFA to stay near the match venue for proximity as is being done in FIFA- organised World Cup championships.

Effort to get the facility and venue manager; Mr. Godson Uti speak on this issue failed as he turned aggressive when approached for comments.

Sports / Nigeria Lands Fifa Chief In Trouble by franctony(m): 2:00am On Oct 25, 2009
VICE President of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Mr Jack Warner may be in trouble should the standard of the U-17 World Cup which kicked off in Nigeria yesterday fall below the required standard of the world’s soccer governing body.

SundayTribune gathered on Saturday that the Trinidad and Tobago football bigwig risks the wrath of his boss, Sepp Blatter and other executive members of FIFA.

Apparently dissatisfied with the level of preparation Nigeria put up for the cadet championship, FIFA chiefs, led by Blatter were said to have expressed shock at the roles played by Warner whose report regarding the readiness of Nigeria to host the championship was far from what is on display.

As at the time the competition commenced yesterday, there were still lots of areas that were being hurriedly touched while some were even yet to be attended to by the Local Organising Committee (LOC ) of the championship.

The development, it was gathered, surprised Blatter and his officials, who had expected to see logistics near perfect stage based on the pictures painted by Warner who made several inspection visits to the venues designated for the three-week competition.

Aware of the implication of a badly organised championship, particularly on himself, Warner was said to have vent his spleen on Nigeria, warning the LOC that the country faces the wrath of FIFA .

In what appeared to be last-minute efforts at saving his the image of Nigeria Warner charged the LOC to ensure that all things were put in proper shape to ensure that the staging of the championship conforms with the standards of FIFA.

He stressed that FIFA would never lower its standard as far as its competitions were concerned, rather, it expected each competiton to be higher in standards.

Nigeria, according to Warner risks FIFA’s hammer which might come in any form should the organisers of the U-17 Championship fail to get their acts together and do things the FIFA way.

Warner, Sunday Tribune noted had earlier described Nigeria as an unserious host, threatening that FIFA would withdraw the hosting rights from the country with few other countries, including Ghana, mentioned as standby hosts.

He, however, made a turn around after what could be called consultations with those concerned, who asssured that the country would be ready by the time he (Warner) returned for another round of inspection after which he caved in to pressure.

WORLD football body, FIFA, is unhappy with the low turnout at the opening ceremonies of the 13th U-17 World Cup, Nigeria 2009, which began yesterday in Abuja with the Nigerian President, Umaru Yar’Adua spearheading the boycott.

Despite the presence of Nigeria’s Vice-President, Goodluck Jonathan, FIFA President, Joseph Sepp Blatter, President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Alhaji Issa Hayatou, among other dignitaries, artistes and cultural groups at the opening ceremonies performed in front of nearly empty stands as the Local Organising Committee (LOC) failed to mobilise fans’ participation in the event.

FIFA’s Vice President, Jack Warner could not hide his disappointment when in his speech, he regretted the poor attendance.‘’I hope as the competition progresses, we can do something about it,’’ he said.

Although, he did not express it, Warner must be equally disappointed by the absence of Nigeria’s President, Umaru Yar’Adua at the ceremonies. Two days ago at an interactive session with journalists covering the event, Warner revealed that Yar’Adua had personally assurred that he would not only attend the occasion, but also declare the competition open.

On behalf of President Yar’Adua, Jonathan pledged that Nigeria would ensure that the players and contingent to Nigeria 2009 would have a swell time throughout the event.“Having won the U-17 World Cup three times outside the country, one will understand our passion to host and win this one but that aspiration will not hinder our objective and chance to display that we are a country of one-hearted, industrious, happy and friendly people. We are more concerned with global solidarity and peaceful co-existence, we intend to show our unity in diversity.’’

Meanwhile, few fans who attended the opening ceremonies blamed the LOC for making a mess of the event.‘’Are we progressing at all? Must we host the championship by all means,” asked a fan.

‘’What we saw at Abuja 2003 and even Kada 2008 were better than this poor display. We are not just ready and it is disgraceful that Warner had to point it out.’’ Sunday Tribune recalls that the glamour at the opening ceremonies at the Abuja 2003 All African Games remains one of the grandest of the modern sporting gestures. President of International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr. Jacques Roggue, even encouraged Nigeria to bid for the hosting of the Olympics.

Experts in music, dances and choreography added spice to the ceremonies while officials of the Ceremonial Committee ensured the welfare and safety of over 1,000 school pupils who participated in callisthenics. An adherent of Sango, the African god of Thunder, mesmerised the fans when from the centre circle of the Abuja National Stadium, he emmitted the fire that lit the games’ torch.

Another fan added that it was wrong of the LOC to insist on Abuja for the opening ceremonies.‘’It doesn’t have to be in Abuja every time,’’ he noted. “It would have been better in Lagos where fans attend matches and where the stadium is smaller to appreciate the few fans that watched the ceremonies.’’

Meanwhile, organisational lapses continue to be the major talking points. Accreditation bottlenecks, untrained volunteers, incomplete facilities and a whole host of problems continue to bug the LOC and all seeking to be part of the tournament.

Volunteers were still being trained as some of them had never previously seen the inside of the venues where they would work and were being taken round by LOC officials. Accreditation has been an absolute nightmare. Crowds of media, security, volunteers and other personnel were still struggling to be accredited across all centres, with delays stretching into hours.

Officials explained away the delay with the excuse that the ‘systems are down’. The result is that hundreds of journalists, both local and international, remain unaccredited. Our sister publication had during the week reported that musicians who were due to perform were not paid their mobilisation fees and none of them was part of yesterday’s ceremonies.

Computers / Efcc Collaborates With Microsoft To Stop Internet Scam by franctony(m): 1:18am On Oct 25, 2009
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is working with Microsoft to halt thousands of fraudulent emails in a crackdown on internet crime in Africa's most populous country, an agency spokesman said.

EFCC said its new project "Eagle Claw," expected to become fully operational within six months, is aimed at improving Nigeria's tarnished image as one of the world's top countries for internet crime.

"The EFCC is fine tuning security modalities with Microsoft and upon full deployment, the capacity to take down fraudulent emails will increase to 5,000 monthly," said Farida Waziri, the agency's chairwoman, in a statement.

The agency said it has already shut down 800 scam websites and arrested 18 people.

The project is the latest effort by the government to shrug off its image as an epicenter of corruption, epitomized by "419" email fraudsters named after the article in Nigeria's penal code that deals with advance fee fraud.

Celebrities / Mercy Johnson Shows Love To Fans by franctony(m): 12:58am On Oct 25, 2009
No matter the scandals that may have followed her around, one thing you cannot take away from Mercy Johnson is the love she has for her fans, especially the underprivileged ones.

And to express this love, the actress, alongside popular comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, stormed some secondary schools in Ikeja, Lagos and distributed books and T-shirts to students.

Mercy, who claims to have been paying for 500 underprivileged GCE and JAMB candidates fn the past five years, declared that the visit made her feel good as her interaction with them made her believe there is still hope for Nigeria.

Meanwhile, her foundation will be launched in February 2010. She told Life and Beat that the major function of the foundation would be to cater for teenagers who cannot afford to pay for their JAMB and GCE examinations. Gbenga Adeyinka, in his own remarks, vowed to support the actress’ foundation by raising funds to cater for the kids.

Business / Indicted Bank Chiefs Deserve Death, Says Sanusi by franctony(m): 12:37am On Oct 25, 2009
BUT for adherence to rule of law, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi says those found culpable in the current crisis rocking the banking industry ought to be tied to the stake and shot.

Sanusi noted that whenever Nigerian banks failed, it was only the poor depositors that suffered while the rich were never touched. He said the CBN was fully out to protect depositors' money and shareholders.

The CBN governor stated this yesterday in Lagos at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) Policy Dialogue with the theme: "Post-consolidation crisis in the banking sector: The challenge of regulation, going forward."

Sanusi said Nigerians need to understand the role of the apex bank in the whole saga, adding that at the assumption of office as the CBN governor and at the discovery of the rot in the system, he had two options: either expose the rot in the sector and make necessary corrections or fold his arms and keep his friends in the industry while its collapse became imminent.

He said the N620 billion-bailout package for the troubled banks was not enough to tackle the exposure of the banks to margin loans.

Sanusi disclosed that the apex bank was working assiduously to ensure that no bank went under. He said the liquidity problem in the sector started in 2008, stressing that most of the banks were walking corpses, which were relying on the discount window borrowings to remain afloat.

He said as a risk-trained banker, he could not have failed to take proactive steps through the audit of the banks on assumption of office, declaring that there was strength in weakness "if we are ready to accept it"

The CBN chief revealed that the rot in the sector was so alarming that a bank gave out loans to the tune of N45 billion secured by shares in a bank that is owned by a state government, with the loans becoming non-performing on a collateral not more than N5 million.

He said: "Those found culpable in this dastardly acts are not vulnerable people that need our sympathy. If not for the rule of law, some of them (offenders) should be tied to a stake and shot.

"At the discovery of the crisis, we had the option of liquidating these banks and hand them over to the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC) under the law, where a lot of people would have lost their savings or go after the so-called rich and powerful people in the country and make them to pay. What we have done so far remains the best option that could have been taken by any body," he insisted.

Sanusi said there was need to have improved disclosure of activities in the banks because of the rot that had damaged the reputation of the sector, adding that there was need to spend more time talking and evaluating the value system because it remained an elixir for a sustainable political and economic system.

He challenged anybody with proofs of his borrowing from any bank and the loan not performing to expose him.

He admitted that the Nigerian economy was not immune to the global economic recession, but added that most of the country's problems were self -inflicted which "we must resolve ourselves if we want to remain in the comity of nations.

"The rest of the world is dealing with credit-based crisis, but the credit squeeze in Nigeria is not a consequence of the CBN's present actions. It is the consequence of the actions and inactions of our banks.

"We need to be realistic and very judgmental in decision-taking. It is not possible for the banking sector to lose 25 per cent of its equity and still expect the economy to grow. There is need to fast track the process of moving the banking sector to the next stage of development."

Sanusi said monetary policy does not determine economic growth, but that all machinery of government must be on deck if the needed economic growth would be attained, adding that the recapitalisation of the banks would facilitate the drive.

He said Nigeria's inflation was expected to fall below 10 per cent in December, down from 10.4 per cent reported in September, adding that if the current reforms in the sector and those of the economy could be sustained, Nigeria should be better than South Africa by 2012.

According to him, the CBN was working with stakeholders in the sector such as the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ministry of Finance, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to reposition the financial sector.

Commenting on the nationalisation of the bank as credited to the Finance Minister, Dr. Mansur Muhta, Sanusi said: "The minister never said weak banks will be nationalised, he only said if the issue of mergers and acquisition should come up and some of these banks could not get partners, the government will acquire majority shares in the banks and when the banks get stabilised, government can withdraw its money and the banks continue to run as an independent institutions."

On allegations that he was pursuing a northern agenda, the CBN governor said it was not true. If he had such hidden agenda, Sanusi said he would have allowed the banks to collapse to create room for another set of people to buy their shares.

He also said that President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's stand on the reforms was clear, noting that the President "wants a financially strong sector that can compete globally. Bank PHB has as shareholders, relatives of the President, yet he never queried the actions taken on the bank. So we are working to re-position Nigeria's financial sector."

Some of the discussants like Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), said the problem came as a result of weak institutions and complete failure of the legal framework.

Agbakoba canvassed sound credit reporting in the sector to guide the bankers, stressing that what happened in the first phase of the sanitisation was in order but that the rest phase must be done with proper legal analysis.

Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, managing director of SOKOA Chair Centre, said there had been a breakdown of "our social values, with issue of trust being breached seriously."

Religion / Some Anglican Clergy Accept To Join The Catholic Church by franctony(m): 12:10am On Oct 25, 2009
Some Anglican clergy have said they are ready to accept an offer to join the Roman Catholic Church at a meeting of about 600 conservative priests.

Members of the Forward in Faith group discussed the Pope's invitation to Anglicans to convert to Catholicism but keep many of their existing practices.

Many who are considering conversion are unhappy at women bishops being introduced into the Church of England.

Others at the meeting, in Westminster, urged their colleagues to stay.

They have pleaded with their colleagues to stay inside the Church and fight for a compromise that would allow them to live harmoniously with women bishops.

Under the terms of the invitation offered by the Vatican, those who convert could keep many of their Anglican traditions in their own special section of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Vatican said it was responding to pleas for help from Anglicans.

Some leading Anglicans have criticised the Vatican over the move.

The Former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, said he was appalled that Rome had not told his successor, Dr Rowan Williams, about its plans until two weeks ago.

He said: "We mustn't be treated as a junior partner in this. It's got to be done in a serious way that respects each party and I was raising a question simply, 'Is that being done at the present moment?'"

Father Geoffrey Kirk, one of the leaders of Forward in Faith, is among those who said he intends to convert to Catholicism.

He said: "The Church of England is, in the view of many of us, ceasing to be the church of Jesus Christ and becoming the church of political correctness, not only the ordination of women to the priesthood and the episcopate - to which we object - but also in many attitudes to human sexuality from divorce and remarriage, to homosexuality."

'Wide' appeal

Other Catholic-minded Anglicans warn that the Church of England could become more Protestant and more progressive if more conservative clergy accept the Vatican's invitation.

They want to preserve the historic role of the Church of England in uniting Protestant evangelicals on one side with others far more sympathetic to Catholicism - a point made by Father David Houlding.

He said: "It's not a Protestant church, pure and simple, that's not what the Church of England is - it never has been.

"I fear that if we moved into that direction exclusively, then the Church of England would not be in the position that it is at the moment to appeal to a wide variety of people."

BBC religious affairs correspondent Robert Pigott said the reaction to the offer made by Rome could have far reaching consequences.

He said: "For more than 500 years the Church of England has united Christians of radically different backgrounds - on the one hand evangelical Protestants, and on the other clergy who are much more sympathetic to the Catholic Church.

"If many of these Catholic-minded clergy take up the Pope's offer, it could alter the Church's character for ever."

Our correspondent added that there is likely to be intense pressure on the Church of England to find a compromise on women bishops, particularly since those who oppose them now have an easy route to Rome.

Politics / Abuja High Court Stops Soludo by franctony(m): 4:43am On Oct 24, 2009
An Abuja High yesterday set aside the nomination of Professor Charles Soludo and Senator Emmanuel Anosike as the Peoples Democratic Party's flag-bearer and running mate respectively for the February 10 Anambra State gubernatorial election.

Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, one of the candidates in the botched PDP primaries had approached the court to complain that the selection of Soludo and Anosike was an abuse of an Anambra State High order, which had earlier placed an injunction on the selection process.

But in a swift reaction, the counsel representing Soludo, Mr Patrick Ikwueto (SAN) dismissed the propriety of Mr. Ozigbo to go to court, stating that under the PDP constitution, the National Executive Commi-ttee of the party has the final say on the selection of candidates.

He stated that the power and rights of the PDP to select a candidate are unquestionable and that the court has been misled into thinking that Soludo and Anosike emerged from a congressional meeting of the party.

“That wasn't the case. The party obeyed the court order barring it from holding a congress. But that does not stop the party from selecting a candidate through other means,” Ikwueto explained.

In his suit at the Abuja High Court, Ozigbo argued that the Ikulobia High Court (Anambra) injunction was not vacated before Soludo and Anosike were selected by the PDP leadership.

In his judgement, Justice Danlami Senchai set aside Soludo and Anosike's selection and ordered that they should not be recognised by INEC.
Reacting, the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Olusola Oke said the party was caught unawares by the ruling because it was not joined as a party in the suit.

Oke said the party will do everything possible to vacate the order or have it over-turned in a higher court.

Similarly, Ikwueto added that his client was never served and is uncertain if an ex-parte motion was granted by the Abuja High Court or not.
“All efforts when we heard this evening to get some clarity from the court proved abortive.

“But I suspect that a motion was granted, and as early as Monday, we will file an order before the court asking the court to vacate the motion over which it has no jurisdiction.”

Sports / Nigeria ’09: Confusion As Fifa U-17 World Cup Begins Tomorrow by franctony(m): 3:40am On Oct 23, 2009
BARELY 24 hours to the kick-off of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in eight centres across Nigeria, so many grey areas yet to be addressed by the authorities in charge of the cadet football fiesta may mar the tournament.

Our correspondents learnt on Thursday that journalists (local and foreign) are particularly worried that there are no adequate information to boost their work.

They have expressed disatisfaction over why the central Local Organising Committee has not given the competition the expected publicity it deserves.

For example, a Sports Editor in one of the national dailies, complained that information on the opening day of the event were not available to the press.

”We are supposed to have the information needed easily but it is difficult getting things confirmed or knowing what is going on at the sub-seats. It is very bad,” he said.

The opening ceremony holds tomorrow in Abuja but there is no official information yet on the plans by the LOC to entertain the world.

The Chairman of the Ceremonies Committee, Alhaja Ayo Omidiran, was evasive in her response to enquiries by one of our correspondents.

She said, “The truth is we have very limited resources at our disposal but we are determined to put up a superb show on Saturday.

“We have our people working on all aspects of the opening but the show is about surprises and we cannot reveal what to expect on Saturday.”

Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to declare the tournament open at the National Stadium in Abuja before the Golden Eaglets take on Germany.

FIFA is also expected to address the press at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on its operations on Friday (today).

However, sources in Abuja said the world body might not have kind words for the country’s preparation.

The tournament will end on November 15 in eight centres — Abuja, Lagos, Bauchi, Calabar, Enugu, Calabar, Kano, Kaduna and Ijebu Ode.

It was also learnt that the unit in charge of ceremonies had calisthenics display professionals, participants and dancers camped in Abuja in the past one month.

It was also learnt that the last batch of dancers joined others at the National Youth Service Corps camp in Kubwa, Abuja, on Thursday morning from Lagos.

In Lagos, the media centre of the LOC Sub-seat is yet to be adequately equipped. As at Thursday when our correspondents visited the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere where matches will be played in Group B, there was no computer at the journalists’ work station. This made foreign journalists and FIFA representatives to express dissatisfaction with the development.

When contacted on the issue, Head of Media at the centre, Mr. Ben Alozie, explained that the computers meant for the centre were still awaiting delivery from Abuja.

Alozie said, “I was in Abuja on Tuesday and part of the issues we discussed was how the media centre would be made functional in Lagos. They promised to send the computers immediately but to my surprise, we are yet to receive any confirmation that they have arrived.

“However, we are already making an alternative arrangement and before the games begin tomorrow, computers will be installed at the media centre because we cannot continue waiting for them from Abuja.

“We have already made provision for internet facility and international phone lines at the centre for journalists to work with.”

Apart from the unavailability of adequate facilities at the media centre, accreditation of journalists also poses another challenge.

Many local journalists who besieged the LOC with the view to complete their accreditation process were denied entry into the building by securitymen.

The development resulted in an uproar at a point on Thursday afternoon as angry journalists engaged the securitymen in hot exchanges. The journalists were later asked to come back on Friday (today).

Some of them said they were unable to properly access the portion of the FIFA website where registration was to have commenced. In the alternative, they were asked to fill a form before being accredited.

The Head of Lagos accreditation sub-seat, Mr. Tayo Balogun, said the body was working hard to ensure all legitimate journalists were accredited.

Also, on Thursday, the Mobilisation Committee was to have a concert where musicians like Tu-Face and Sir Shina Peters were to entertain the crowd at the National Stadium in Surulere, as part of building awareness. But as at noon on Thursday, our correspondents noticed that there was no stage for the concert at the venue.

It was learnt that millions of naira was voted for the show.

A football fan, Mr. Tunde Ishola, expressed fear that the Lagos concert might not hold.

”I am here for the awareness concert and after leaving my office at the Island to Surulere, I am disappointed that the event is not holding,” he said.

But it was learnt that a road show could hold in Lagos on Friday (today) morning.

At the exit gate of the National Stadium, an Armored Personnel Carrier was parked while policemen were seen at both the Teslim Balogun and the National Stadium.

Commuters were not spared in the confusion as they were made to spend several hours on the road leading to the stadium. The main road leading to Funso Williams Avenue (former Western Avenue) was closed to motorists by Julius Berger, the contractor handling the construction of the access road to the two stadia.

As at 3pm on Thursday, officials of the construction company were still at work. Our correspondents learnt that the company would leave the area at 12 noon on Saturday shortly before the opening match between Brazil and Japan.

An angry taxi driver, who had spent several hours in the gridlock said, ”This is not fair. Why can‘t this be done in the night or on Sunday? We are spending more time on the road and it is frustrating.”

APPARENTLY unsure of its ability to outages of electricity supply during the forthcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup competition being hosted by Nigeria, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has promised to minimise power interruptions during the month-long event.

In a statement, PHCN said it had set up a Preventive Maintenance Task Force in all its Field Units and Service Centres throughout the federation to monitor power interruptions and take urgent action for prompt restoration of supply.

The company wished all Nigerian soccer fans a happy viewing time throughout the World Cup fiesta.

The statement read, "In preparation for the Nigeria 2009 FIFA Under-17 World Cup competition which comes up from October 24 to November 15, 2009, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in the pursuit of its mandate to boost power supply towards attaining 6000MW by December, 2009 will make concerted efforts to minimise power interruptions during the competition.

"In the event of unforeseen equipment breakdown during the period, management appeals for calm and understanding as there would be quick response to fault complaints."

When asked if the Super Eagles of Nigeria will qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa next year, Prophet Joshua has this to say: “Super Eagles will qualify if they play the game as if it all depends on them and pray as if it depends on God.”

Chux6203:

Well methinks that a Prophet is not without honour only in his country. Why should the prophet pray for the Nigerian flying Eagles who did not not recognise his relevance nor solicit his support. The Bible says that wisdom is the principal thing. Nigerians are not wise and that is why the nation is failing in all fronts
President Atta Mills of Ghana is a member of The Sinagogue Church and we can see the transformation in Ghana. Let Nigerians continue to be "wise" in their own eyes while the country drifts towards disintegration.
Anyone still doubting the role of Prophet T B Joshua in Ghana's Starlets victory at the under 20 WC should just watch the repeat broadcast of last sunday's service on Emmanuel TV.
In answer to Ambassador J Fashanu's question on The Super Eagles qualification for the 2010 world cup, The prophet said that Kenya is not the problem of super Eagles but the outcome of the match between Mozambique/Tunisia. He said the Eagles ll beat Kenya but that Nigerians should pray for Tunisia not to be in their elements. So those of you fellas in Lagos who detest the Man of God, You may use the outcomes of the matches to test his prophetic calling vis a vis those of your big grammar speaking Pastors if they ll dare venture into this area that ll definitely expose their emptiness

so he's now God dat chooses whom to favour abi, when those Brazillian boys were praying before the penalties, whom do u think they were praying to? T.B Joshua, 2 favour them in his own prayers abi, RUBBISH

Hello House, with the judgement between Comandclem and Mobil barely 2 days away, Comandclem website www.comandclemng.com is not available as at today. It was there yesterday. Is Comandclem about confirming my fears?

all the investors in comandcle should not panic. oct. 5th was only for the hearing and adoption of the case, and the fixing of the date for the final verdict, which has been fixed on the 2nd of december. the registration and upgrading still continues until that 2nd dec

i went for the meeting today at comandclem office at ojuelegba, and it was celebration bc there is lot of hope there will be a favourable judgment.so let nobody deceive you that comandclem is a scam, i think ccnl has gone beyond that suspision of fraud. it is more or less an international case now because britain is now interested. it was also announced today the change of the website to www.comandclemng.org

Permutation and Combination, another spot will be taken soon. those who are taking the spots are not doing permutations, they are simply working hard. Why cant we learn our lessions after 49 years of independence.
i think we've heard enough of this. this milk is already spilt and we shouldnt waste time crying over it.
if you can really tell yourself the truth, our boys are really talented and played nice football by creating some chances in the three matches we've played, it's only that they werent that lucky and they made a few mistakes which any other team can make. going by the quality of their game, i think they re the best in that group as far as correct football is concerned.enough of all these blames
abeg somebody should help me with how we can still make it to the next round, seeing that the first spot is already claimed
