Politics / 120 Countries To Celebrate May 30th Biafra Heroes Day- Ipob by frankdoz23: 9:22pm On May 17, 2017 |
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has stated that over 120 countries and territories around the world outside Biafraland will participate in the heroes day march declared by its leader, Nnamdi Kanu to honour those who lost their lives during the civil war. IPOB stated this in a press release by its Media and publicity Secretary Comrade Emma Powerful. He said the group plans a total shutdown of Biafra’s territories during the march which will be observed with a sit-at-home protest. Part of the press release reads, “The remembrance of our fallen heroes and heroines on 30th of May 2017 will go down in history as one of the greatest events the world would ever witness. IPOB will use this event to conclusively prove to the whole world that we are ready for the upcoming referendum for Biafra sovereignty.” Powerful said that countries outside Nigeria would stage a peaceful march during the event, but in Nigeria, all Biafrans were expected to stay indoors and avoid any march or protest as this may give security agents reason to shoot at them. He added that so far, their members in most countries of the world have secured the permission of the authorities in those countries to hold the protest march, and have been allotted venues. “IPOB families in the UK, Europe, Asia, Middle East, USA and many others across the world have managed to secure marching permits from their relevant authorities because of this historic 30th of May event. “In almost all countries where IPOB has presence, including Angola, Mozambique, Congo DRC, Namibia and Tanzania have respectfully perfected their own arrangements to honour our heroes and heroines on that particular day. “In UK, IPOB has secured their venue at Trafalgar Square, London for a rally. It is however interesting to note that the Deputy National Coordinator of IPOB UK reported that the British Metropolitan Police gave express permission for the march on Trafalgar Square, saying that he knows the group and its leader and that they were not violent. “He said that he knows that since Mazi Nnamdi Kanu started his street protests in London, there had never been any breach of public peace compared to similar protests by others groups that have always degenerated into scuffles and altercations with law enforcement agencies in the London area.” http://dailypost.ng/2017/05/17/120-countries-celebrate-may-30-biafra-heroes-day-ipob/ 5 Likes 1 Share

Politics / Biafra: International Community, Foreign Observers To Monitor Sit-at-home-Ipob by frankdoz23: 7:05am On May 16, 2017 |
Pro-Biafra group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has claimed that the international community and other foreign observers have been delegated to monitor the May 30 sit-at- home order it declared in honour of fallen heroes of Biafra during the civil war between 1967 and 1970. The IPOB said there would be total restriction of movement because the international community and foreign observers would be in Biafraland with their media team to ascertain if the people of Biafra were ready for the upcoming referendum for Biafra sovereignty. In a statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of the group, Emma Powerful, IPOB said under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu it remained a peaceful and non-violent organisation in the history of freedom fighting across the globe. It said this will continue following the rules provided by the United Nations Charter for the rights of the indigenous people. IPOB said, “We are advising Biafrans, both home and abroad to observe the remembrance day celebration of our fallen heroes and heroines who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our people to live today in Nigeria. “The May 30 sit-at-home and remembrance day celebration will be a remarkable event in the history of Biafra. “We are going to maintain the peaceful approach in pursuit of our freedom from Nigeria. The Biafra liberation movement is sacrosanct and we are waxing stronger both at home and diaspora and will not go back in the quest for the restoration of Biafra. “Anybody who is thinking to sabotage the struggle is doing that at his or her own detriment, the conditional bail attached to our leader was to cage him and to dampen the high spirits of IPOB family members worldwide,” Powerful stated. They however, frowned at the continued detention of Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi, Bright Chimezie, George Onyeibe and other members in different Nigeria prisons in Igweocha in River State, Delta State, Anambra State, Akwa Ibom State, Abia State and Abuja. “We blame the judicial commission and Attorney General of the Federation for allowing Justice Binta Nyako to continue messing up the judicial system in Nigeria. “The Attorney General of the Federation should have dropped all the concocted and fabricated charges preferred against our leader, Nnamdi Kanu and others remanded in prison to save their image in the face of the international community. “It is very appalling that a well trained judge like Justice Binta Nyako would allow herself and the court to be used to bar Kanu from exercising his fundamental human rights. “However, the continued detention of these people in different prisons and DSS secret cells across the country remained the weakness on the side of the Judicial Commission and Attorney General of the Federation. “It is very abnormal that the Judicial Service Commission and judiciary in Nigeria that suppose to be the last hope for the common man would turn themselves to be problem for the masses. “With the judgment on April 25, 2017 banning our leader from speaking to the press and staying with more than 10 persons, proves to the world that the judiciary in Nigeria is where truth can never prevail. “According to the information reaching us, those our members detained in different prisons and secret cells across the country are no more safe, almost all of them are sick without proper medical attention, especially those in Kuje prison. “We are calling for their immediate release to enable them take proper medical treatment because we will not take it easy with anybody if anything happens to any of our members in detention anywhere in the country. “We are calling on men and women of good conscience across the globe, Amnesty International and relevant human rights organisations to prevail on the Attorney General of the Federation and the Judicial Service Commission to drop the concocted and fabricated charges preferred against our leader Nnamdi Kanu and others detained illegally alongside him in Kuje Prison because they committed no offence against anybody or Nigeria. “The injustice against the people of Biafra in Nigeria are numerous to mention, IPOB, under the leadership of Kanu have decided to fight it to a standstill. “Of course, many are aware that this is a project of God Almighty (Chukwu Okike Abiama) which IPOB embarked upon to liberate our people from the shackles of bondage.” http://dailypost.ng/2017/05/16/biafra-international-community-foreign-observers-monitor-sit-home-ipob/ 2 Likes |
Politics / Ipob Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Hail Punch Newspaper by frankdoz23: 8:15pm On May 15, 2017 |
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra , Nnamdi Kanu , has commended the Punch newspaper for its objectivity and fairness. Kanu stated this in a chat with our correspondent in his father’ s palace at Afaraukwu in Umuahia, Abia state. He said during his incarceration at the Kuje prisons he was reading virtually all Nigerian Newspapers and was impressed at the way Punch reported the activities of IPOB .“ Virtually all Nigerian dailies gave us beautiful coverage . Punch was fantastic . It did marvellously well in covering our activities. “ It demonstrated objectivity, truth and fairness in all its reports about us. I was impressed with Punch . The paper is great. ” He said at the appropriate time he would thank the Nigerian media for the support they had given him and his group in their struggle. He maintained that he owed Biafra a fiduciary duty of protection and defence because of what he described as his kindred affinity in the project . The IPOB leader described Afaraukwu , Imus his where his father is the traditional ruler , as being part of the headquarters of Biafra where the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu had the Ojukwu bunker . He said , “ Our leader , Ojukwu operated from here until the end of the Biafra war. There is no way I will abandon my father ’s land which served Biafra at a time of need . ” Meanwhile, IPOB on Monday condemned the continued detention of its members in various prisons across the country . It said Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu , David Nwawuisi, Bright Chimezie , George Onyeibe and other members were being held in prisons in Rivers , Delta, Anambra , Akwa Ibom and Abia states as well as Abuja. In a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka , Anambra state by its media and publicity secretary , Emma Powerful, the group called for their immediate release . The statement read in part , “ The attorney General of the Federation should have dropped all the concocted and fabricated charges preferred against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others remaining in prisons to save their image in the face of the international community . “ It is very appalling that a well - trained judge like Binta Nyako who passed through so many seminars before she was called as a Chief judge at the Federal High court can allow herself and the court to be used to bar Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from exercising his fundamental human rights . “ The continued detention of those mentioned above in different prisons and DSS secret cells across the country remained the weakness on the side of Judicial Service Commission andAttorney General of the Federation . ” http:/www.punchng.com/ipob-leader-kanu-hails-punch/ 3 Likes

Politics / I Don't Want To Be President Of Biafra- Nnamdi Kanu by frankdoz23: 6:41am On May 15, 2017 |
…MASSOB/BIM plan big for Biafra jubilee By Vincent Ujumadu, Chidi Nkwopara, Peter Okutu, Chimaobi Nwaiwu & Emma Una AWKA—LEADER of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has said that contrary to insinuations in some quarters, he does not intend to be president when the Republic of Biafra was eventually actualized. Kanu told Vanguard that he always preferred to operate from the background, pointing out that if the pioneer leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike had remained consistent with the struggle, he would not be doing what he is doing with IPOB. Insisting that the actualization of a Republic of Biafra was a foregone conclusion, the IPOB leader said he also sympathized with the South East governors and some other political office holders’ position on Biafra, attributing it to their fear of losing their positions and political relevance in Nigeria. He, however, said the fear being entertained by such Igbo leaders was neither here nor there because the Biafra Republic would be founded on the principle of justice, equity and fairness. Nnamdi Kanu He was also happy that some Igbo leaders were already identifying with the struggle and encouraged them to remain steadfast. He said: “I am into this struggle because of leadership vacuum. I am into this struggle because my people are suffering; they are being denied their rights and privileges and nothing will stop this fight. I want to assure our people that we are almost there. “The Biafra Republic is almost here with us. Even if one is from Sokoto, he can be a Biafran once he believes in our value system of equity, justice and fairness. “Biafra will be a home for all people who agree with our values, whether you are from Kano or Sokoto. It will be a place for good things for good people. Therefore, those who are distancing themselves from the Biafra struggle will regret it. If you don’t join the struggle, you will be irrelevant in the end because Biafra Republic is sure.” Kanu described Afaraukwu -Umuahia where his father is the traditional ruler as being part of the headquarters of Biafra where the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu had the popular Ojukwu bunker and operated from till the end of the Biafra war, adding that there was therefore no way he would abandon his father’s land which served Biafra in time of need. MASSOB, BIM plan big Also yesterday, the leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, said they have concluded plans to commence a week-long celebration, to mark the golden jubilee of the birth of Biafra and the 18th anniversary of MASSOB. The Owerri zonal leader of MASSOB, Chief Canice Anojuru, disclosed this, while briefing newsmen in Owerri. “The week-long programme will start with street rallies in all the major cities across the South East and South South states, on May 22, while church services will hold May 28. The celebration will be wrapped up with football matches on May 30, 2017”, the zonal leader said. Anojuru further disclosed that scholars of international repute, would deliver lectures on the imperatives of non-violent philosophy, during the celebration. Answering a question, Anojuru promised that all pro-Biafra agitators, who are loyal to Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, would continue to uphold a non-violent posture, even as he regretted that the activities of some agitators “are giving a negative image to the rest of us”. The zonal leader further explained that they would try to mirror the past, especially what they experienced during the 30-month war and the activities of MASSOB since May 22, 1999, when Chief Uwazuruike hoisted the Biafran flag. “The two pro-Biafran groups founded by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, are non-violent and we will remain so, as we continue to highlight the gross marginalization faced by Ndigbo in Nigeria, for the world to see”, Anojuru said. “There will be free moveme |
