With sadness I wish to leave. It was nice being with.you guys. But I guess is time for me to leave.

I appreciate all the help and info I got here

I also thank God for the friends and others I was able to assist in getting an approval.

I would want to wish those with pending approval success very soon.
Remember NEVER GIVE UP!.
KEEP TRYING .
And if you feel USA is not for you cos of the rejection. There are several other similar countries UK, Australia, Europe, Canada etc to try from .
But *never* give up and wish to *remain* in Nigeria. As a young person under 40 , you have greater potential outside this country and even your children would have greater potential than you and would appreciate you forever .
Nigeria is a failed state, but Nigerians are not and have lot of hidden talents waiting for the world to see.

So keep trying never give up!
Don't let anyone deceive you with the words

*Is easier to become rich in nigeria*
While this may be untrue as just 0.5% of Nigerians are rich in international standard.
Note that being just is not success

*Home is better than any where*
Let them know that home is where you choose to be from not where you were given birth to. The only permanent connection you have to Nigeria is that you were given birth here, anything can change if you wish for it to change.

Home is where you are treated more like a human than where you a treated like a slave. Nigerians in diaspora with even just a nigerian passport have more human rights as aliens in western countries than Nigerians living as full citizens back home.

So my fellow friends still trying , keep it on. Don't give up . You will succeed.

And to my guys that are here.
We need to be appreciative of the favour.
Remember the battle is not over , in fact is just starting.... whatever plans you want to seek to gain permanent stay may it succeed but never forget the main reason you are here.
Which is for higher education.
Be at it.
Try to be the best so the whole world can see through you what talent Nigeria is hiding for the sake of the rest of Nigerians back home .

Don't be carried away and fascinated by the luxury things the western world have to offer. Remember you and a citizen of this country are not the same for now even if you are more educated.

Never break any rules and laws no matter how little even if their citizens are going against it.

*Don't be on the fast lane*
Calm down you didn't come here to be wealthy.
You came here to have a better standard of living.
So don't rush
As you are here and you keep working it is assured you would get your basic amenities.
And if you work hard you may be blessed with more wealth than you may even realise.

Even if we want to reject negative African traits , don't throw away what would make you better than an average american.

Also keep encouraging your families and friends back home in Nigeria who wishes to come meet you. Never forget them . Try to support them at least if not with money or finances but with information and advice from your experience.

Wishing everyone a good one in their lives.

Would hang on for few minutes before I take my leave.

Actually this is my first time of posting on this platform but trust me, I read transcripts, downloaded transcripts, above all I like comments, that's mostly what I do here.

I got my Visa approved today in Abuja and it was God and preparation. A guy in my front got denied by the lady VO so I was praying I shouldn't get her. I did.

Alot of people, in my opinion, got approved today. I think today is a good day. I was part of the last people at the embassy.

Oh! I saw indaboski today.
.........

US Embassy, Abuja
Status: Approved
GA: $29k
Deficit: $7k

Me: Good Afternoon
V.O: Good Afternoon, Pass me your documents
Me: Passed (Hand dry shake as I passed all docs - I20, and all those used for screening)

V.O: Typing... you are going to the University of Arkansas
Me: Yes

V.O: Oh, you've got an assistantship
Me: Yes

V.O: Typing.... checking I20, ha, your sister will be covering your deficit and she stays in the US?
Me: No... She stay in Nigeria ma, and my Dad will be my sponsor. I only use my sister cos my dad was unavailable at the time when I needed to get my I20 out (She actually stays in the US).

V.O: What does your dad do?
Me: He's a business man who specialises in trading oil and gas products.

V.O: Nods, which other school did you apply to?
Me: University of Nebraska, Lincoln and Louisiana State Univeristy ( I applied to only one school)

V.O: What would when you come back to Nigeria?
Me: I'd love to work for multinational organisations such as IITA, Olam, Flour Mills, whose research aid food security as well as consult with the Ministry of Agriculture to help farmers augment thoer yield and increase output (I'm not sure she's listening to all these but I was talking).

V.O: Typing........
Me: When the silence was awkward... I said I'm actually going for Rice Processing...

That's how she just said blablabla......and I heard make sure you pick up your visa........

Omo, I was dumbfounded!!! I just did thank you and left boning. The security thought I got denied but na me know the level of cloud and euphoria that's in me.

Thank to everyone who posts their transcripts, really I learnt alot from you guys, you are the best.

By the way, no one said that we were gonna be interviewed while standing up. Me I've always thought one would sit down.

It didnt last up to 3 - 5Mins

A guy before me got approved.
COA - $45k
Dean's scholarship - $3.5I
I think the fact that he was just talking and confident was enough.

They never requested for bank statement.

You fortunate about that
Cos they requested for my bank statement.

Wouldn’t these VO’s find out that it’s only one school?

To be sincere.... the VO can't know how many school you applied to..
Only you have that information.
Even the VO can't know how many schools gave you admission

The only form of knowledge comes from the i20 and that does not shows how many schools a student applied to or got admitted to.

But he said "admitted", not "applied".

Did all the 7 schools you applied to give you admission ?

If you go to the Embassy and tell any VO that you applied to 7 schools and only one gave you admission, the chances of you leaving that cubucle with a Blue paper increases.

Thanks brother for letting her see the point

I'm new here and also a novice in USA visa issues. I have read many transcripts of interviews and I want to ask this question:

I applied to only one USA university for MSc and I got the admission, although I've applied to Canadian universities in the past. I've noticed that successful visa applicants applied to more than one school. Will it work against me if I admit that I applied to just one USA school?

If yes, will it do me any good if I tell d VO that I applied to Canada in d past?

Many people here did not necessarily get admitted to various schools... they just said they did to the VO to show their seriousness and eagerness to be in that school. You can do the same.

Did they put the name of your school on the visa.
Cos they didn't put my school name on mine .
And the DHL staff that gave me was surprised cos she said they normally put the school name

Hello guys, i went for my interview yesterday and got rejected. Will post transcript soon. But for some background.

I am applying to the for masters in information systems and specializing in business analytics. No funding 43,000 sponsored by my mother with a surplus of this available balance in her account. I have a good travel history. Been to USA 2x as an adult, and travelled to over 7 countries, 4 outside africa, never stayed more than a month, schooled in Ghana, mom has always been sponsoring me. And owns her business.

When i went for the intervew,
the VO asked if i have a relative there
I honestly told him yes, because i have visited him during my first travel there.

He went as a student there and during his opt he got married and has a kid. And only visited nigeria twice for the wedding and to see the family. And he works with Tesla.

Surprisingly the VO was really drilling me why he didn't return after his studies, and that "if he didn't return what is the assurance i would?", I was honestly nervous at this point because i didnt expect that type of question.

He also drilled about financing the masters which i feel my mother can and will pay as she sponsored my sister to also do her masters in canada with no issues and my mother has enough savings to sponsor me for a year.

I was told i didnt qualify and was given a yellow paper stating the reason. Which talked about ties to return but when he told me i didn't qualify i believe i heard for financial reasons.

To be honest i got really nervous when he started really probing about my brother even tho he is there LEGALLY. What do you guys feel?

I want to reapply because i feel i can defend my reasons, what do you guys feel? Any advice?

you should'nt have done this (tell the VO that your brother is now a resident )
(THIS IS A BIG BIG RED FLAG)
you had an extremely good profile
been to the US twice.
good statement of account
and good course of study.

You should not expose your one bit of red flag.

A VO would find it hard to give a person a with close relatives living as residents a non -immigrants visa .
It is a big big red flag
IN FACT THE BIGGEST RED FLAG OF ALL!
That shows the person have no home ties to Nigeria cos his home (family) is at America
except it is an immigrant visa

To be sincere you messed your profile cos this information would be saved for further interview you want to have.

Just try and prepare to look for more home ties that would prove to the next VO .
Like you being married or getting to marry soon
A good job with a multinational company

Hello house!

Is there any correlation between applying to many schools and visa approval, compared with applying to only one school?

How many days to the interview can one pay sevis fee?
There is none , the VO would not know if you apply to 6 or 1. So whatever you tell them.they go with it. Though applying to several helps in finding admission not visa .
Pay sevis fees at least 10 days to be on the safe side

VISA approved today at the Lagos Consulate.
School: The University Of Texas Health Science Centre At Tyler
Graduate Assistantship: $23,039
Deficit: $6,806
No documents was requested for.

My transcript:

Me: Hi, good morning.
Vo: Good morning! Pass me your passport.
Vo: Where are you going in the US?
Me: I'm going to study for a Master's degree in Biotechnology at the University of Texas Health Science Centre at Tyler.
Vo: When did you finish high school?
Me: 2010
Vo: What about undergraduates?
Me: 2017.
Vo: What have you been doing since after graduation?
Me: Went for my compulsory national youth service in 2018, completed in 2019. Then I started working at *** Pharmaceutical company as a Medical Sales Representative, then I started working at *** as an Associate Product Specialist - I stopped here, but I realized he was still expecting more - then I continued, my roles include recruitment of Doctors to our platform, engaging Specialists through presentations and webinars to introduce our products, customer service.
Vo: *He stopped typing, then looked directly at me and asked* Why do you want to go for a Master's degree in Biotechnology?
Me: I intend taking a role as a Biomedical researcher at the Nigerian Institute Of Medical Research. The master's degree will provide me with the necessary skills to excel in the field. Also, I have always had the dream of being a Biomedical researcher, however, there hasn't been chances to work in this field, this is the reason I decided to go for a Master's program.
Vo: I can see you have a graduate assistantship, who's paying for the rest?
Me: My Uncle
Vo: What does he do?
Me: He is a medical doctor
Vo: What are your plans after graduation?
Me: like I mentioned earlier, I will return back to Nigeria to pick up a role as a Biomedical scientist at the Nigerian institute of Medical research.
Vo: picks up white paper, "We will inform you when to come pick up your passport". He then picked up my I-20, "have this with you always, you'd be needing it at the point of entry, blablabla (couldn't hear him again)
Me: Thank you very much!

I have been following up on this thread since 2016, and had always wished that some day I'd post my transcript too. I was denied VISA to this school in 2019, though I went for interview late and I only had partial funding. Fortunately same school was able to defer my admission up to 2 years to 2021. I'm super excited and grateful.

My school is still accepting applications for fall. Although they indicated that application to qualify for funding ended in March, you can still try your luck. Also application fee is free. If you are interested in Biomedical research, you can apply here.

congrats
how i wish i Have funding
this life sha.
Despite getting visa
i still pray for funding

Good evening, I have someone who went for her interview (F1) and it was approved. she was asked to collect her passport in a couple of days at the location she opted for. she was also given the white paper that talks about collection of issued visa and locations in Nigeria etc..

However, she was not given the small white slip that says congratulations, and on the white paper she was given, the following was written "COLLECTING YOUR ISSUED U.S VISITORS' VISA". Is this unusual or a mistake on the part of the VO. Or this is the new trend.

Lol the white paper is enough congratulations

Guys, I have a quick urgent question please

My visa interview is by 12pm on the 7th of May

I would be arriving around 11:30AM. I’m coming from a long distance cry

Please hope this is not a late time to be at the embassy?

Someone was telling me I have to be there 2 hours before the time on my appointment confirmation printout.

2 hours ke na flight .

On my interview day , my time was 8:30 and I came by 7:50am and yet I was still angry that I came that early cos I waited for long.

12pm does not mean the interview start by 12pm 12pm means you should be at the entry by 12pm .

So If plan to come by 11.30 good.
But beware that Lagos traffic can shock you especially since is at midday .
So if your house is not more than an hour on google map live traffic I suggest you leave by 10am adding 30 mins for unforeseen occurences

Thanks alot
Wrong sir.
Though this not really matter.
Book number is not the number of pages on a passport.
Book number is also an identification number like passport number .

Most passports have book number and passport number .
Though in Nigeria we only have passport number.
So when filling it .
Make sure first you put your passport number correctly
Then either put your passport number again in the book number or put N/A ..

For nigerian applicants is basically your passport numbers.

Check online for more information

Easiest way to get a visa is if you are
-Married
-Have travel history (even if it’s one country abroad)
-Have good funding with little deficit

If you ain’t got this three things, your visa na just try your luck
This is basically nonsense.
I have denied visa despite having travel history.

Easiest way to get a visa
1. Do a clear and well detailed ds 160 form making sure you remove all red flags
2. Make sure you defend what you wrote in your ds 160 form .

Is simple like that stop complicating matters

I said God forbid that the man in window 3 conduct my interview
And God decided to shock me
VO - Good morning how are you
me -Am fine
VO - Just give me a minute please, (Calls a lady over the mic, likely the local admin and gives her instructions my mind no de there)
VO - OK pass your passport and i20 pleasE
(I passed it )
VO -so what you going to the US for.
Me- I am going for my masters in Data Analytics
VO- Have you been outside Nigeria before
Me- yes i been to the UK
VO - how many schools did you apply to (Those typical questions i normally see in people transcipts, I appreciate this forum for that)
Me- I applied to three (But it was just one )
VO- Why did you choose UNT
Me - I choose this school because the course of study have concentrations that pertains to what is needed in my workplace
which is Coporate management in Data Analytics.
(You see i was being sneaky,I wanted to remind the VO that in my profile I am employed and also tell him the employment has potential,
thereby giving me a good home ties)

VO- Oh i see, so where do you work
ME -Mention my company
(I actually work in a multinational company but for those of us that does not, I would advise you just say you do or you wish to cos
it improves your profile, but make sure it syncs with what you put in your ds-160 form)

VO - ok and who is paying for your trip
Me- My mom
VO -What does your mom do
Me - She is an estate agent and a fashion designer.
VO - Can i see her statement of account
Me - (i cried in thanks inside cos my mom forgot to print it , we haD to begged a bank staff to bring it for us around 7pm)
VO - OK you can have it back ( to me, I felt he did;nt really looked at it. just wanted to know if i had all the evidence with me )
VO -Do you have any relatives in the US
Me - Yes, my younger sister
VO -What is she doing
Me -She is doing her Bsc in Olkahoma
VO - How old are you
Me - I am 24-27 (lemme not expose my age here abeg)
VO - Are you married
Me- No
VO -Are you in a relationship
Me- Yes i have a fiancee (sincerely though it just a casual relationship)
VO - What does she do
Me - she works in an accounting firm
VO - OK thank you very much (immediately he said that i felt like dying)
then he said
VO - Take your i20 for now, then i would hold on to your passport for now
Me (in my mind) - Oga is yours , i want you to hold it well please no give me today.
Then he hands me the white paper.
Omo

I thank God
I thank those who posted their previous transcripts whether success or not
I thank those who answered questions pertaining to school application

US Visa secured
now
Canada can go and rest
I guess i start saving up for the rainy days cos US VISA no be the endgame..

My humble advice to future candidates
1. Always answer your questions simple and clear. Long answers are a turn off for them
2.No need to fake accent, cos it would just put unnecessary pressure and you may end up saying what you wish not to say
3. Always be relaxed, don't do like you having a job interview. see it like as if you telling your friend about your goals and achievements
4. Also don't allow those touts to exhort telling you to print unnecessary documents, the documents you need are stated already. Those guys chop up to 10k from me

Haaa window 3? That guy no get joy at all he was just distributing blue papers. I thank God for you
my brother i thank God oh. As in when it was my turn to go and it was obviously window 3 i was doing as if i was deaf.

the man did not approve anyone at all in my front except the old mama before me, be like say the old mama left some of her good luck for me.

if he spends time interviewing you , he is not going to give you
unlike the other VOs that gives people that they spend time with.

i think he approves visa based on your profile rather than what you said.

can M1 visa be extended or changed to f1 when you're still in the US? OR is it a must to return to naija after your program is finished?

Looks like all April was canceled.

Mine wasn't cancelled thankfully. My date is April 29th... I checked my profile no change or how did you know it was cancelled. Did they send a mail or something.
Cos I booked since December 27th

Hi guys, I was admitted for fall semester. Can I book for appointment now or I should wait till August

From September intake..
I guess your day of earliest resumption should be August ending...

So with that in mind you can book any day from April 25th...
I suggest you book now. Cos currently all days in March and April are completely or almost filled up.
Also booking early enough would not put you in so much pressure if God forbid you are denied visa. You would be able to comfortablely reapply before your school resumes.

Not sure Executive order can Reverse the immigration ban. It was implemented by a court. Will read more though. It’s a good news hopefully

Check the news, it has been reversed. It can easily be reversed with an executive order because it was made in the first place by an executive order. it is only when it is passed through congress and senate , it becomes a legislation or law .
