Concerning the bank statement I may print for my Visa interview, does it have a specified amount and time period like the UK. Or does the VO just looks at it and decides if the statement is authentic and sufficient |

omopapa: Please how are other schools in UK cheaper than the ones in London, even if there are the difference is not more than 2000 . Apart from Imperial , UCL and King college there is no master course from a London uni that is more than 18000 pounds . You can even see courses of 15000 in UCL (5th best in Uk) according to times . Schools like Middlesex, Brunel university , university of west London are top schools too and cheap. So what are you saying. The amount of exposure someone get in London is tremendous, trust me , if you are an IT or computer student , I would 100% advise you to go to a London uni . USA universities are more ahead in fact 2 times ahead of UK university in IT and computer courses. Is only schools in London that can one that higher exposure to reach the level of that in US 2 Likes 1 Share |

omopapa: Abeg stop the stereotyping that London universities are expensive just because of additional 200 pounds someone would pay for maintenance, feeding and all. Is just a mere difference . In fact in London you can get accommodation of 100 per week meanwhile in the so called cheap Birmingham the average is 90 per week just 30 pounds extra a month. Now see the benefits of schooling in London, there are more students Jobs. I have rarely seen a London student that is willing to work but can not see work slot where he can complete his 20 hours limit and a place where he can work madly during holidays. Most London students that work earn at least 150 -250 per week during studies . A girl I know works as a carer in old people home, a waiter in an African restaurant and in A fast food joint . In fact there were lot of options for Her. During the holidays when she is allowed to work limitlessly , she took a minimum of 500 pounds per week . Most people that school outside London complain that there are few students jobs ,because the limited ones have been taken. Even those that may have , they may not see the ones that complete their little 20 hours limit. The options in London for student jobs are much take it or leave . Now about looking for jobs afterwards, there are lots of jobs that are good for placements in London . Trust me no lie. About universities quality , out of the top 20 universities in UK, majority are in London (King college, imperial college , UCL, London royal college , School of economics) In fact all schools in London except from university of East London are in top 50 ) So what scares people from London, simple paying the little difference of 20 to 30 for accommodation. Such petty reasons To me if I come back to UK again would either school at London or Manchester, no no to Villages like Nottingham, Newcastle , Middlesbrough is the worst self. Racism is more there 6 Likes 2 Shares |

omoalison:Personally I would refer to Middlesex University, it has one of the best ranking in social work in the UK and unlike most universities in London, the school fees are relatively cheap for international students. I think it ranked 38th in the UK though , but it is the 6th best modern university in the UK (universities younger than 50 years ). Another good option for social work is loughborough university (4th best university in UK, 28th best in the world ) |

laawale: So if you start counting your money now, you shall reach 28 days by Dec 25th. Remove dec 26th Remove Jan 1 Plus 4 weekends day That is 7 +15 So only if your course start by Jan 20th can you get CAS, if not I would advise you to hold on cos even if the school gives you CAS (unlikely) it could put your Visa in jeopardy |

mekanta7: The needed English proficiency test would be displayed in your CAS from the school to the Embassy . So only whatever the school asked form you while you were applying would be asked for during ths document submission. This could be either your Waec result or Ietls or Toefl But most universities in the UK are comfortable with just a Waec result (credit in English) especially for master students |

laawale: Good day bro. If you mean that the funds have not been in your account for 28 days and you want to use a finance company for what exactly as a sponsor or to finance your account . Because the UK would only a sponsor from your account or parent account . No one else !!!! And if you want them to finance your account for the time being , you will still have to wait for 28 days before you can apply for Visa. My advise to you is just wait till Sept or may intake cos the time is limited . Your account would be ready by December ending and most schools stop issuing CAS by December 25th for January intake . |

justwise: Mr man I can see why Hosey got frustrated with you. If you course date end January, the UK can not give you a valid student resident permit that last six months after your course only four months maximum and even if your graduation would be in the summer you will need to apply for visiting Visa to attend like I did . Graduation is just a ceremony , once you have passed all your modules your course have officially ended and you are no longer a student . Cos using this your explanation some people that would finish their course by Janurary 2020 can also defer their graduation ceremony till next year to enjoy the psw . Remember one of the requirements to be eligible is that one must have a VALID TIER 4 VISA when applying . If your tier 4 is invalid you can not get it . A tier 4 Visa ends maximum of 4 months after your study . January till April is 4 months. Is not yet up to summer . I am saying people may or may not get psw if they finish January 2021. Anything can change. But speak the fact . Right now the rule is only for those who finishes summer 2021. I am against you just being sure of what have not been confirmed by the government 4 Likes |

Tobexin: Many people are wondering if the Brexit Election on December 12 would have effect on the post study Visa well to answer this. THE ELECTIONS WOULD HAVE NO EFFECT ON THIS . THE post study Visa have come to stay. The cancellation of the previous post study Visa in 2012 was a result of a single initiative from the home secretary ( Theresa May) During her time as the prime minister , petitions and proposals were brought by different MPs over the years to restore this Visa but she waved it off due to her strict immigration orientation. It came as no surprise when the new prime minister Boris Johnson restored the post study Visa because lot of petitions been passed by the universities and student unions alongside various MPs in different parties. In fact so fact only 2 MPs have voiced in opposition of this new arrangement, a sign that majority are in support of this. How would the elections affect the PsW Visa? There are 3 main parties in the Brexit election Conservative party Labour party Brexit Party or UKIP The other parties which are SNP, Green Party and Liberal Party have been proven to have no chance in winning the elections with some of the candidates offering to step down for either a conservative, labour or UKIP candidate that share the same or closest view with them on Brexit. So the 3 main challengers are these three parties I doubt the UKIP would have a chance to win this election because many do not like their policies on issues like the budget and all . But they may have a go at this election because they have the best Brexit plan and some candidates in this other 4 parties may step down in support of the UKIP. Even if the UKIP should win which is 70% unlikely , the leader, Nigel Farage voiced in support of the post study Visa by Boris Johnson government. Now to the two main contenders Labour and Conservative If the conservative should eventually win , the PsW would go ahead as planned , though the UK government would try to maintain a point based immigration system similar to that of Australia . If the labour should win , well this may end up being even better for the international graduates as the Labour immigration policy is so accommodating and likely to that of Canada. The leader Jeremy Corbyn added when asked about the PsW Visa new scheme that the Visa should be extended more than 2 years. In conclusion whatever happens in the Brexit elections on December 12 would make it anything but better or the same for the PsW Visa. 2 . I still stand with the fact that going for a masters program this January whether 1 year or 2 year program would be risky if you want to enjoy the PsW Visa. The scheme said the new route would begin only for those who resume September 2020 . So let us be Frank September is just 10 months from now. |

akinbo3: I wonder why some are in a hurry . If you check the first post I made, i was highly angry i came back home without any experience. It made finding a job harder. Now the home office in UK have brought a new measure but at a condition , only for those who graduate by July 2021 and afterwards . I planned to do my 2 years masters this October but when I heard the news, i shifted mine till next year. The UK is not running away for crying out loud. With this new scheme you will be able to spend a whopping 4 years in the UK ( if you doing a 2 years masters with placement ) or 3 years . It would be a win win for you, the university and the British Government whether you eventually settle in the UK or not. What Boris Johnson Government is trying to say is "Immigrants can never be a burden to the economy as long as they are skilled and contribute to the economy growth" I am sure , in fact I can boast that is the strength of countries like Nigeria and India. 70% of these countries youths are either skilled or would do anything to become relevant to the economy but their governments do not know how to tap into their young ones potentials. So if your course is 12 months and you beginning by Janurary . I am not saying you will not get the post study Visa. But you are taking a HUGE risk Even if is more than 12 months , is kind of a little bit of risk Why not wait till September. In fact you would have lot of time to plan your Visa processing. No need to pay priority Visa (fast track) as you will have enough time According to the Gov.Uk you can start applying for September intake visa by June ending (3 months before your course start) That is just less than 8 months time . Take the remaining Time To work and earn more money and experience Learn new skills like programming, marketing etc. Get certifications of your field e g ACCA, CCNA, Java etc. Calmly look for funds in case your maintenance fees is not enough for Visa processing . Enjoy the premier league season that end by may (lol) Or just take a vacation Before you know it June would be around the corner So no need to rush and take a risk . Remember I did not say you will not get a post study Visa if you go January but try to be on the safe side. Lemme use an illustration If a rich man announces to the entire community " I am going to start giving anyone that come to my house by 7pm today a plate of rice " Now some may decide to go his house before 7pm maybe 6pm or 4pm . They may get their plate of rice but it would be at a risk cos the rice may not the ready then by the cook. The British government have promised post study Visa for those who start from 2020/2021. They could start giving those who start before but all I am saying is that is not certain. 4 Likes |

Bourne007: Yh I argee with you, the person I stayed with said the same thing . It was likely the HR would not like to go through that scare or did not have enough knowledge. Second on the Canada issue, remember I said each country have a cap so let us use this mathematical example . For this example we would give Nigeria and UK the same cap. Imagine if 40000 people are allowed from both Nigeria and the same with UK. We all expect over 1 million Nigerians to apply for the slot of 40000. This would make the cut off from Nigeria for the Express entry to be high . Now look at the UK . We expect less than even 5% of the UK population(resident and non resident) to apply for it, because let us face it, Having an indefinite resident permit for UK is better than Canada. So it may even be less than 5% of the population. In fact I am certain that the UK will not have passed its cap . So that is why it would be easier to get it at long as you reach the average cut-off cos the competition is few . In addition Work experience from a developed country like UK would give hidden points you may not realise, let us be Frank, the canadians know what they want. They want the best . Would you prefer an IT skilled worker from Togo over one from the USA ? 1 Like |

hosey: Hi house been going thru this thread since page 290 . I must say I like how committed @hosey is in advising people to grab the 2 years post study Visa. I studied in the UK (Middlesex) graduated 2018 but was sent packing immediately I felt so angry . I swore I would never consider UK as an option for masters or even settling. Fast forward to September 2019, when Boris Johnson announced the post study Visa. On hearing the news, I first felt angry at why that strict lady called Theresa May was the prime minister at my time because I knew she did not really speak for all of the British when she said student immigrants should go home immediately after study. I know this for a fact because I did internship in a company where one of the staff told me they would love to employ international graduate trainees prior to how they did in the past to retain trainees that are successful and show hard work in the training program then would sponsor the successful trainees for tier 2 Visa. But sadly that facility was taken from them because they can not possibly sponsor the total amount of international graduate trainees they want (companies pay an individual fee to the government for each international student they give CoS and they usually have a limit they can give out), so they look for the British or EU graduates to fill those positions whom they feel are not as hardworking, committed and determined as other international graduates. So from someone that studied in the UK and was able to communicate with some in the professional setting, I can assure you that with the two year post study visa given, There would be lot of options open for international graduates who are smart . I would share them Option 1 TIER 2 VISA After studies, students would have 2 years plus the 4 months on their previous study Visa to find a job. This time is enough time to find a job that can offer them a Tier 2 Visa. During my time, I got like 4 offers from different companies in just 3 months , 3 could not sponsor my Tier 2, but one could but the time was so limited to process it (8 days before my Visa expires) . Imagine the amount of time international graduates would not have at their disposal . Do not believe some who say getting a tier 2 job is not assured after study. As long as you play your cards right you will surely get one . In fact it is more easier to see a skilled graduate job in the UK than US . This is because most US jobs demand for experience and previous projects, but unlike the US in order to increase your chances of getting a Tier 2 job in the UK in the time period of your post study Visa., try to 1. Try to get a first class or Distinction in your degree, this would put you ahead of graduates below your classification and you will be 80% likely to get a tier 2 job before your 2 years post study runs out. Unlike Nigeria , it is quite easier and more straight forward to get a first class in Bsc or Distinction in masters 2. Do a course that is needed more in the UK. Check for courses that are needed when applying . Courses that are Computer or IT related are now at the top of the list (at least 75% likely to get a job). Other courses like Nursing, Engineering and Science.Kindly avoid courses that are not either important to the UK economy, makes you your own boss or are in high supply like Interior Design, Arts and Dance. 3. If possible try to do a PhD. Though this may not be necessary but doing a PhD in a course that is needed would surely put on the top of favoured ones by employers in the UK. But like I said before , this would not be necessary if you follow 1 and 2. OPTION 2 WORK EXPERIENCE As a international graduate, you will surely get work experience in your 2 years post study period which would be valued by employers in Nigeria if you eventually go back home. This experience would put you above others based in Nigeria. With a masters degree and at least 2 year British work experience, you will be able to apply EASILY for a managerial job. OPTION 3 MARRIAGE Marriage is another way to settle down in the UK, but sadly most international graduates who wishes to use this route have not found it easy to find a person in just 3 months as you do not expect them to make this their priority during study whether fake or real marriage. But with 2 year post study Visa, international graduates who wishes to use this route can be able to search without haste for someone to marry (someone of their own taste) and can even start processing their marriage Visa before their post study Visa runs out . OPTION 4 OPPORTUNITY TO MIGRATE TO OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES When I was in the UK, the person I stayed with was on tier 2 Visa, but his wife was finding it hard to get a visa to meet him (because of some complex issues) . So he applied for an Express entry to Canada for him and his family. I must say, it was much easier for him to get the Canadian Visa than his contemporaries in Nigeria because his points were off the roof . This is due to the facts that he 1. Had a UK masters in an IT field 2 . Had just 2 years work experience in UK. In addition, the Canadian Express entry has a cap in each country, applicants from Nigeria would find it harder because many would be applying unlike applicants from developed countries like UK . Since the Canada Express entry was introduced to increase immigration of skilled labour, imagine how much value would be added to an application from a skilled worker based in a developed country like UK. In conclusion this newly announced 2 years post study will make UK a preferred choice of study . Personally I still feel Canada is better than the UK for student path to settlement, but I think UK and US are now on the same playing field and since is easier to get a UK study Visa than in the US, I would advise many to choose the UK over US by 2020. 14 Likes 2 Shares |
