Oyiboman69: this is where I said, negotiations should be made or the government can intervene cos if the corps is left uncollected, and even decide to use it for their laboratory or sell of the parts, they can't recover that amount... Health is not free or cheap anywhere in the world. Ask those politicians travelling abroad for health care, they will tell you how much they are paying for treatment of ordinary headache. What you can advocate for is wider coverage of health insurance schemes. Without that, you have to take responsibility for whatever that comes up. Who renegotiate after the deed is done. For each medical procedure, there is price tag. Your argument actually vindicates Nigerian doctors who insist on payment before treatment. |
Health › Re: Woman's Corpse Detained In LASUTH Mortuary Over ₦860,000 Debt by FreeConCiencE: 10:12am On Feb 21, 2022 |
Oyiboman69: what I'm saying is that in such case where the bill is high, they should cut it to an affordable amount so as to enable the family members to pay, besides, the patient we are talking about is dead and the family can't afford to pay the huge amount which lead to public outcry. what if the family decide to leave the corps with the hospital, won't that be a loss on their path also. I know you can now see where I'm driving at... So, anytime the bill is high and the patient is no more, they should cut the bill even if the 'high' bill truely worth the value of what they have done for the patient? Who will now pay the remaining balance? Or the hospital should count their losses and move on? Doctors dey suffer for Nigeria o.....see mentality.. |

Oyiboman69: what I'm saying in effect, is that when a patient died during treatment and after depositing some money, laws should be made to look into it cos telling someone to pay almost a million after spending over a million without the patient recovers,it is absurd. Laws should be put in place to check the activities going on in the medical environment. There are cases when some doctors knew quite alright that they cannot treat a particular patient or they know that the patient will not survive the situation, but they'll still go ahead and starts treatment knowing fully well that cannot do anything, all is just to get the money through dubious means. Like I said, laws should be made available to look into such case cos it is wrong to demand such a huge amount of money just to recover a corps. Would you agree pay a huge amount of money on something like a vehicle just to collect it from a mechanic knowing that what they did does not rectify the fault in the vehicle?.let's be reasonable here...the medical system in Nigeria is so poor that they still demand for money even when what they treat does not work and they even collect money on their own incompetence and negligence.... You are still not clear and like you said let's be logical and reasonable. You don't know the condition of the patient and the cost of all what they have done in an attempt to revive this patient. If they have carried out investigations like magnetic resonance imaging, computerised tomography, etc or interventions like radiotherapy, chemotherapy, dialysis or using life supporting machine with daily oxygen, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery etc all in an attempt to revive the patient, should they go without settling the bills just because the patient eventually dies? If you know the condition of the patient and you know what they did for her is not worth the billing, it's a different scenario. But, you can't conclude that the billing is not worth it just because the patient eventually dies. Nobody is accusing anyone of negligence here. And if you suspect negligence, you can sue for negligence. Your illustration about a faulty vehicle here does not hold . If I have a car that is draining me, I will sell it or butcher it and sell the parts. You cannot do that to a human relation. You treat and give all you have till death comes. Mind you, people still die in hospitals in UK, US, India, China, Saudi Arabia and all over the world and they still settle the bill. |

Starcy: Try read within line. D man said they spend about 1mil. It mean dey have deposited something gigantic b4 d treatment kick off You are not making sense. The fact remains that they are still owing the hospital irrespective of whatever amount they might have spent. Are you saying that the hospital should dash them the remaining balance and count their losses. Or what are you saying precisely? |
Health › Re: Woman's Corpse Detained In LASUTH Mortuary Over ₦860,000 Debt by FreeConCiencE: 10:25pm On Feb 20, 2022 |
Oyiboman69: and the patient couldn't survived after their exorbitant charges... I guess it's now time for proper bill to be passed so as to address a situation like this.you cannot expect someone to pay such a huge amount of money after they've failed to do their work because they think that at the end they'll always come with the saying that 'God giveth and God taketh gibberish.... Are you saying that if a patient is brought with a life threatening conditions that requires emergency or urgent medical intervention, they should not attempt treating the patient if their is no 100% assurance that he/she will survive? Mind you, most of terminal illnesses are costlier to treat. Or they should collect the money before attempting treatment? Or what are you saying precisely? |

Theunbothered: This is wickedness, the family is already going through a lot, not even to mention that the lady died after their failed treatment This is the clear reason some hospitals insist on payment before attempting treatment. And if they did not attempt saving the life of that patient before payment, it's people like you that will blame the hospital.. |

Most importantly aviod quacks, they maybe cheap but at long last the damage caused by them isn't cheap..

spice123: You're getting me wrong bro. If you read deep meaning in what I wrote, you'll understand better. I am not saying I don't have peace in my home. No! I want my wife to be empowered, manage the home properly now that I am alive and it's working out very fine. This is the reason when most men die, their wives will be left stranded, for in-laws to deal with them. Worse case they start sleeping with men outside to feed them and kids. If I tell you that since I started this, my wife has added 4 things in her business to expand it. Business ideas are coming in. She uses part of money given to her to run and expand her business and the profit she uses for feeding and kids fees. Many will not understand this and I won't blame them. Build your home the way you want it to be. Keep quiet Oga ade, you are a simp and you are disgusting. For you to empower your wife now, you must handover your salary to her after removing TF. Don't you have brain at all to manage your finances.? Can't you empower her without handing over your salary to her? Do you have plans of stopping handing over your salary to her? Do you know how she will react if you eventually stop handing over your salary to her? Honestly, I can shoot your empty skull if I know you. |

Romanoff: She used a mortgage facility for the house. Bought the car by cash. Your stories didn't add up. For her to buy a car by cash and build a house by mortgage , means she has what is worth the value of the house and that means she is rich. Why can't she establish little business for the husband instead of demeaning things he is doing at home? A reasonable and God faring woman will not allow her husband's condition to degenerate to that level let alone allowing him to be doing house chores for her. She would rather employ a housemaid and be paying her 7k salary. |

Or are you saying the man can't be the head of the home if he's not the one making the money?

AmazonTopaz: I thought in marriage two shall become one and both of them become inter dependent on each other.
A man who is for the time being not well to do should swallow whatever pride he has and get something doing even if it is at the home front, some men have no idea how helping their wives with chores at home makes them happy and joyful instead of being idle and having unnecessary pride it will be good for the husband to help out at home and spend more bonding time with the kids.
How a man can be jobless and still expect his working wife to still be attending to all the chores at home is beyond me.Help out and relieve your wife of stress if your wife runs a business you can also help her and won't even remember that you are jobless
