I Have seen couples whose Pregnancy Scan showed to be carrying baby girl. After Prayers, Baby Girl was turned to baby boy at Birth.

Why do you need to have a concrete fascia on a house built with a 6" none load-bearing wall?

The problem with the fascia is not only the reaction load on the walls but the twisting moment generated due to its cantilevered nature. To have a fascia, the house must have beams that must be connected to a well-spaced column. In other world must be a kind of frame.

My advice, don't do the fascia and if the veranda space is not more than 3m go ahead with the constriction but make sure the beam is at the head beam level and it must span across the entire wall. Otherwise, consult an engineer or a builder with know how.

If this was my house and I was this concerned then I’ll contact @AbdulWastecX for a paid analysis.

In the meantime, it’s generally frowned upon to build foundation out of 6” block. But I’ll leave it alone and just focus on doing pillars with proper footing.

The concern I have is that your columns are starting above the German floor instead of on a footing in the foundation.

Apologies if my assumptions are wrong.

For extra strength to be able to carry the veranda beam and parapet. And what if the german floor is broken to get the footing of the columns from the ground. Or can l still use the 6inches blocks for external walls with necessary columns footed from the ground.?

Please experts, one engineer was suggesting that load bearing external walls that were constructed with 6 inch-block can be reconstructed with 9 inch blocks with columns at necessary places. But my concern is that the substructure block work (the foundation block block work under the german floor), was also done with 6 inchesbblock.

Is it a good idea? I was the one that posted about the partial collapse of my project 2 days ago.

Sorry about the partial collapse of your building but when and how did it occur.

A closer look at the building shows there are no columns on the building, the floor slab thickness is too small and I guess the mix ratios for the mortar and concrete works were weak as well. Your building was poorly constructed..The quality of workmanship here is poor and not the size the sandcrete blocks.

You need to discontinue the construction and get a structural engineer to do a comprehensive assessment of your building.

It got to this present stage last 2weeks.

Apologies ma'am. When I read your chats, I concluded you're probably even a better builder than your architect.

If he had used 9" blocks, I believe it probably will be able to withstand those loads.

Building with 6 inch blocks is very dicey. It's a slippery slope. I have done it in my "experimental build" and I know its dicey.

In the pic below (experimental build), we put an insitu concrete fascia on 6 inch blocks!

I would have shown more things we did with 6 inch blocks but .....

6" blocks struggle to carry loads except you make them extra strong.

My advice is that, introduce columns at span of 4-5 metres. Your beams sit on these columns. Each column MUST have a footing.

Its obvious there's no architect involved. It's just the owner and a guy who calls himself "ENGINEER".

Don’t say what you don't know. I can send the building approval to you. We used what he designed to get the approval. His name is there as the architect. A registered one for that matter
I don't just want to expose him since he apologized and he's ready to take full responsibility for it.

I just need advice on whether I should allow him to make the correction where necessary or I should look for another person

Wow, this is crazy. Are you sure he is Architect or draft man, I sabi everything. Most architects work with structural engineers before arriving at conclusion. Man you do a big mistake, with all the information on this platform you still let someone do this to your project. Please if you don’t mind black list the name of Architect here so others will be aware of him, not to fall victim.

He is an architect, a registered one for that matter. He is just too stubborn and he believes he knows it all

If the weight of the parapet was the reason for the collapse, it can be salvaged. But if there are other underlying issues, then the integrity of the building has to be evaluated. Better to get a professional to look at it.

Parapet is not a must. If you loved it that much you should have considered it from foundation. Demolish all the parapet and roof your house.
