BabaIbo:
Hello, good afternoon, I want to start my legalization and authentication process before applying for admission.

Is it a good move or I should apply first before going for legalization and authentication?
That's the best move, to stand a better chance of being offered admission, some sch will tell you to apply without legalization, but later they will deny admission base on the same reason, it happened last year, so if you don't want those schools to collect your money in form of application fee, legalize before applying to schs in Portugal, even as the admission process of schs in Portugal is getting competive.

INFORMATION ABOUT HOME TIE STATUS OF VISA APPLICANTS IN VISA PROCESSING

"Home Ties"to your home country are the things that bind, draw or connect you to your home country such as job, family, financial prospects that you own or will inherit, investments, etc.

Some visa processing requirements include submission of *applicant's property documents and property valuation report* for home tie status and economic status.

The foreign embassy is looking for visa applicant who have good economic status who will not become a liability when they get into their country.

*Property valuation report* is one of the instruments used to justify the economic status and home tie status of the Visa Applicant.

It is believed that once you have property or assets in your home country, it will draw you back to your country when or before your visa expires.

The valuation report showcases the monetary worth of your properties.
It helps the embassy to determine your home tie status and economic status before granting you visa into their country.

I applied to ISCTE and there was no specific request to legalize my documents before applying.

Now I'm worried
You should have mail them to find out, although some school in Portugal will accept you applying without legalizing but will state the same reason as the reason for denying you admission when they release their admission list after collecting your application fee, that's why we advice applicant to legalize before applying for admission.

How can one get legalization date with the Portuguese embassy in Nigeria?

Secondly there is a Rumour going rife that Portugal doesn’t issue visa appointment date any longer
Yes for now embassy have not started releasing visa interview date, that is why we advice that in your admission application you should centre on applying from those schs that assist their student in getting visa appoinment date.
I posted those schs that assist their student in getting visa interview date here last month.
Nevertheless embassy will still release visa interview date, but no one knows when, for now we are monitoring the devevrlopment.
This is sequel to the fact that embassy is getting overwhelm by the high numbers of application in their table.

Portugal embassy legalization fee is 20 euros per document, you will pay in naira, currently 20 euros equivalent is 32k, at their embassy
currently.

and you need to book appointment to submit your documents for verification/legalization. available appointments now are from May 2025 upward
But i render Early Appointments and Submission assistance for those that are not in Abuja or outside Nigeria and other African countries that uses Portugal embassy in Nigeria( Cameroun, Benin republic) that may want to get their documents submitted in time(within a week) in order to start admission application on time, due to the fact that most schools in Portugal requires you authenticate and legalize your documents before applying in order to be considered for admission and also for you not to loose the 50-70 euros application fess that the schools in Portugal charges for admission application, because it is getting more competitive, it is advisable prospective applicant legalize before applying for admission.

When being sponsored by a relative, it's better they share the same surname

It's easier to establish ties that way

Notwithstanding that, if you do not share the same surname, attach an affidavit from a High Court

You must show that your whole life awaits you back home.

For example;

1. Your children
2. Your spouse
3. Well-paying job
📌

Endeavor to attach any of these to your visa application depending on your status

1. Father's consent letter
2. Mother's consent letter
3. Husband's consent letter
4. Wife's consent letter

The visa officer wants to know that you did the entire application yourself at the same time your immediate family is aware of the application

4. Business etc

The more connection you have with your home country, the higher your chances of getting a visa

Good afternoon guys University of Algarve is now open for 2026/2027 admission cycle,
the beauty of it is that you can apply without legalized documents, all you need to do is to authenticate your certificate at MOE&MOFA then you can apply. you can confirm that from the section other your choice program, try and check the slots available for Non EU students, though it is around 25 slots for international students and application fee is 50 euros, but since it is competitive now, one needs to add other additional documents like good motivational letter, good CV, experience letter, English proficiency and Eligibility letters, infact any additional documents that can aid you in being considered for admission.
