Dasuks: @freshdude99 there's too much needless tribalism and display of machismo on here. This kind of thing should be good news for everybody. Added economic activity to national GDP lol. The Delta ppl have their oil which has helped keep our national finances afloat for nearly 4 decades and soon to be added hopefully; Mining and Industrial Agric in parts of the Middle Belt, revamp of manufacturing plants in places like KD etc. I dunno.. anything at all that adds and not subtracts from us. Naij is all about cooperation really. Lagos' services sector efficiently allocates the resource money from the swamps and ppl down in the delta eat meat from elsewhere in the country( not to mention some states that compulsorily live iff largesse of the FG). Without each other we kinda all lack somehow. On our own its not quite the right picture, but politics doesn't allow anyone see anything as it is. Party/Tribal considerations slip in, after which self-destruction and chaos follow. lol. Very true! I totally submit to that, but I think seun and his SW trolls needs that advice more. As for me, NL logo is tribalism at its peak. That's the welcome package I got from them |

Infact from my balcony I sight that terminal every day, and as far as I can tell work is been progressively going on there. Dasuks: Its good that Lagos has added an extra bead to its already long chain of viable sectors. However @SamuelAnyawu it does not really affect other oil producing states esp those in the Delta. The 13% deriv tax is based on the dollar value of your production. Akwa Ibom,Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa produce 92% of the total and as such get a cumulative .13 of that amount( compare with rivers' 340k or AKS' 504k). Lagos will get same of whatever it produces, note that Aje is a field set to plateau at 50k to 80k(tops) a day. Lagos' $ 150 billion economy still and will always be based off the robust services sector that makes it the numero uno city in the west africa region. Speaking of states like Borno, the issue will be making the oil commercially viable. Chances are its heavy sour and highly acidic( TAN) just like the Doba(same Doba basin) blend next door in Chad.Which would mean low prices, say when light sweet sold for 26, that specific blend sold for about 15-17 dollars. Not to mention the infrastructure needed to channel it to the coast. Linking it thru the ones in cameroon that chad uses would prolly be cheapest OR building new transport infrastructure down to our own coast... But how much per barrel is the transport tax going to be ?? This complicates things for an already poorly priced product that has to be marketed almost solely to north american refineries that already get heavy crude from Alberta ( not to mention shale etc)?? Consider clean-fuel regulations and oil refiners' desirability for more appropriate light sweet and u see why it isn't really all that glittery. All of this hassle for about 2 billion barrels tops reserves.... Nigeria is a diverse place , let everybody do what they can but we should never avoid specifics. Intelligent write up, obviously can't agree less. I just wish NL do have more of ur type it would have been a darling nest for all who appreciate knowledge no some of these trolls and bigots from SW |

seunmsg: Yes, the dangote refinery will come on stream in 2018. It's a win win for Lagos, in fact, the state will soon start to fly at this rate of economic success. Kudos to the Folawiyo family as well, they've been on this Aje oil field matter for so long. For the records, the FOLAWIYO family is a Yoruba family. We don't want to hear any claim or stories of how some imaginary IPOB build the oil fields in Lagos.
Haters of Lagos, sorry o. The state keeps making progress while you guys keep hating. This should also act as a boost to those exploring for oil in the Chad basin. Crude oil is a natural endowment that is not limited to any region. If we look more, we will discover more. Please is orient petroleum a yeruba family too? The thing with u SW is ur hatred for any good thing from the SE. Its only good if its SW right? Let me educate u more yerubaz, orient petroleum been drilling oyel for Anambra tay tay. They might not have faired well enough, reason been if u ask aregbe of osun or dick of bayelsa, them go tell u Say Na FG cause am, give enough reason to convince u and u will surely agree with them. Ijaw nation alone is over 5million people. What's the population of the Gambia? Less than 3mil. My point is this, this unity comes with all of mutual suspicion and aside that I also believe that the smaller the more efficient a system can be. Population is strength no doubt but for us here, its not working... My friend in The Gambia told me how effective and efficient their police is and I was marvelled. Some of tho small African countries, they may not be having the money o, but my brother the level of organization there is something to desire. The worst thing that could hinder development is tribalism and mutual suspicion. Oneness is key bro |

Sheggy13: The guy you quoted is an Ijaw guy who understands the true picture of things in his home state and decides to be honest and place the blame where the buck stops- the governor. You, on the other hand is an ethnic warrior from one erosion-ravaged village who see Yorubas in your dreams everyday. How can Bayelsa, a state with 8 LGAs (smallest civil service in Nigeria) compared with Osun with 30 LGAs and with Bayelsa among the top 5 states in this country in terms of federal allocations, unable to pay salaries for 5 good months even after receiving bailouts when they had no business to in the first place, and you expect the media to keep quiet about it or begin to roll drums of praise for the governor Dickson, just because the journalist happens to be from a region you hate. It shows your education is a waste and you're nothing but an empty head for such utterance. You that have education answer me, since wen the number of LG a state has is now the basics of determining how large that state is? The thing with foolish people like u and ur folk is that you will first find trouble then u will still go ahead and shout first. You are the foolish eWarrior and erratic ethnic bigot for stumbling on my mentions and spilling trash. And I repeat, such advice is mearnt for arebgesola ok? U can't be plucking something out of someone's else's eyes wen ur own eyes are almost getting blind. Remember the bailout they shared both first and second, bayelsa is yet to see any and for u to come and talk trash shows ur shallow understanding of the naija politics yet with ur empty skull u claim u went to Harvard. Babalegba: I'm sorry that you are not getting my point which is that a bad Nigerian politician should not be supported by his people solely for tribal reasons. It is an uncivilised thing to do and grotesquely ignorant. There should be a difference in the worldview of an illiterate man and an educated man. The north would at the moment always side with their own because they are mostly uneducated but eventually education will correct them. Most of the people defending Fayose now are from the south east and that's a fact. He somehow managed to get to the governor's seat and now Ekiti people are poorer for it.Unfortunately Jonathan was a very bad leader who lacked ideas. The Ijaws should nurture a resolute principled leader and jettison that disgrace called Jonathan. The economist is an highbrow newspaper that normally use words selectively, they called him an ineffectual buffoon in exasperation Young man, I disagree with you totally. Why,bcz politics is all about what works best for you within an entity. Nigeria is no Europe or America, Nigeria is and will remain Nigeria. Southerners irrespective of W or E value education bcz we are prowestern. Good, its supposed to be a comparable advantage for us in Nigeria but guess what, the opposite is the case. Fulani herdsmen will kill and commit all manner of atrocity, the police will call them illiterates and release them after some days. For ur information bro, the west with their medias e.g economist, NYT etc. Don't have Nigeria's interest at heart. So if u are expecting them to write good tinz abt us, bro forget it, ask china and they will tell u better. I totally got the points u tyna posit, but vehemently refused to accept it. Jonathan never lacked ideas, he had it in full. The problem is that Nigeria, that's me and you aren't ready yet to make a headway. U want a Yoruba man to be the one that will take us there irrespective of the route while I want an Igbo man to take us there irrespective of the route too and an Hausa man also thinks its only his brother that can take him to the promise land. The moment we can solve that problem first, then we all are ready. Mind you the only way Europe could solve theirs was by giving almost all tribe a country of their own. Some country in Europe is just 3million, some 2m. I hope u will understand where am heading to |

Babalegba: You are wrong on several counts,The Economist a well respected international news magazine called Jonathan an " ineffectual buffoon" other people simply echoed it.Secondly south westerners don't support someone just because they are from the south west, it is a wrong ignorant and trite thing to do.Obasanjo was not even supported with votes for his first stint as Democratic president, this only happened during his reelection.Fayoses support base is in iboland while Gbenga Daniel is derided in Ogun.Poverty and ignorance is what makes people vote along tribal lines. Wages are still being paid in Ogun state despite Ogun getting considerably less money from the F.G Even if the Yoruba tribe never liked the choice of Obj, no problem but the moment obj there they had no other choice than to support his else Na Abba and his cronies would have impeached him in 2003. Secondly there was a feud btw obj/gbenga towards the tail end of both tenures, few people knew abt this, they managed it in such a manner that the media did blow it up. Wen u got to know the real story was wen both have left their portfolios and the end result was pdp's monumental failure in ogun state. The same state that produced the then immediate past president. Then talking about fayose, its insane for u to Say that his fan base is Igbos bcz its not igbos in the SE that voted him into power in ekiti. My point is the SW and N understands wat blood relationship means better than other regions. Really round your own wether its bcz of poverty or share foolishness, your own is your own SIMPLE! |
