PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Growing Fulani Conflict Stokes Biafran Cause, Dailymail.uk by freshdude99(m): 4:13pm On May 19, 2016
heo88:
It's after the fact but these Fulani herdsman attacks are getting out of hand and Buhari needs to delegate an overhaul/improvement in policing.

I am not keen on the link between it and added momentum behind Biafra. The initial Biafra movement was understandable in some ways due to the violence levelled at Igbos resident in different parts of the country, namely Kano. However, even back then when the momentum began for a Biafran Republic, Ojukuw was being politically opportunisitic (He was Northern raised, educated in England and his dad Louis was the founder of the Nigerian Stock Exchange). When the shit hit the fan, he ran off to the relative safehaven of Cote d'Ivoire and waved the white flag in surrender, from a distance.

The demarcation of the area which includes the present day Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Calabar subsumed within Biafra was a very deliberate move to ensure accrual of oil wealth/revenues. This was just as, if not more important than securing the safety of Igbo people. Had this cession movement been successful, it wouldn't have been to the benefit of the Igbos, Ikwerres, Efiks etc, at large, but to the benefit of a small elite as is the case in several countries/territories.

In the present day, people like Nnamdi Kanu are also acting opportunistically under the guise of Biafra agitation to preserve the safety of namely igbos, and if he succeeds, life will not improve under him, I can say this confidently. Besides, whilst I recognise everyone has a right to self-determination and can assert the idea of an Oduduwa Republic, Arewa Republic, Biafra, Niger-Delta Republic etc, it's worth considering the merits behind it. Ultimately, in a day of Nation State arrangments, and being an African country with all the historical baggage which comes with that, it is only a further advantage to not have a port. A latter-day Biafra wouldn't mirror the historical Biafra which means it would be landlocked and import and export of physical goods would prove problematic, without cooperation from the Niger-Delta. This would be similar for the likes of an Arewa Republic.

All-in-all, an overhaul of policing would remedy, at least in part, the security situation which is easily exploited by Fulani herdsman. However, if you're one who supports cessionary movements, it would be worth challenging your point of departure. The adage holds: "be careful what you wish for".
Still living in the B.C I guess. Coming to analyze port or no port is the most useless thing coming out of u here. The carved out states around the 5 eastern state are they of cultural similarities with the igbos? Yes/No
So I think you are so wrong to term our father OPPORTUNISTIC. The Yorubas in Nigeria and those in Benin and Togo knw very they are brothers irrespective of some language difference or the Hausas in Nigeria and those of the Chad, niger, Mali etc Aren't they of similar culture and heritage?
It pisses me off wen u people say certain things. If the president can come on live Tv and tell Nigerians that Amaechi, kachukwu and co in his cabinets are igbos how much more themselves claiming to live in denial of their ancestry. Kachukwu is from onicha ugbo here in delta. That name onicha is same as Onitsha, which explains exactly whr they came from but after the civil war alot of renaming took place just to wear their own identity but it still not working after almost 40yrs.

Thanks for responding.
Yeah I understand but GTB is now justifying their actions on the premise that the document used to obtain the loan is fake. Besides, Innoson is not denying that they received the loan facility. So is someone not going to refund the loan or is it ghosts that collected loan from Gtb?
My worry is that if GTB successfully send innoson to jail, it will be so so sad. Business that want to run should be based on sound ethics. The Quakers and Jains of India hold on to that believe strongly and I have same belief.
East or no east, the court has reached the verdict that the document used to obtain the loan is forged.Who forged the documents, who submitted those forged documents to obtain a GTB loan, who is the main beneficiary of that Criminal action? The finger is pointing at Innoson not east sir. I don't see any witch-hunt or any reason to do ethnic solidarity because I doubt if you won't do same if you're in the shoes of GTB.
I just read that Innoson group has released a statement to clear the air. So you can see my earlier position and besides I think both of them should behave maturely as partners in business. I don't like the manner Gtbank is making it a social media affair thereby creating ethnic sentiment. This isn't the first time I have seen such of Gtbank. If u knw wuse zone 5 district of abj very well. The ULO building Gtbank was occupying, same thing happened there until the owner of the tower even tho he had some business dealings with Gtbank had to eject Gtbank out with armed military men. I did my Internship in that Gtb branch and I must tell u, Segun agbaje even tho I knw he can't wear the shoes of the late owner comfortably, he shouldn't be playing ethnic cards in business. My dear it is in Gtbank I saw koro koro that if u ain't Yoruba your stay there is so tenured bro. I can go on and on... Its not just the best for them. If they maintain a good rapport with Innoson I didn't think any of us here can quantify the benefits Gtbank will get from them leave sentiment aside

Seriously, it's Igbos like Innoson that feel like they have lots to gain from United Nigeria that looks down on those of us that insist on independent Igboland.

I pray he survives this Snare without losing the little he thought he had gained from Nigeria. Goodluck to him, though it's too bad that Goodluck is no longer there and he is now going to face the wrath of the envious Yoruba/Northern alliance.
Don't say that bro, last time I checked Innoson is not a Lagos businessman and that particular case he's won both in high court Lagos and Enugu. I think the reportage of this news is faulty in a way

Sometimes I feel feel that some "rich and successful guys" deserve the kind of resentment poor people show them.
GTB has been on this case for a while and even advertised it in the papers,.Why do they want their own business to flourish while your actions can criminally destroy another person's business? undecided
Just doesn't make sense if Innoson motors goes down by this alleged Criminal action.
I have been following this case for a while say two years. Innoson group has won that case on several courts and the last I heard was that Gtbank is to pay a certain amount of demages running into billions for freezing Innoson account for 6mnths I think. Gtbank on the other was asking for out of court settlement or they went to supreme court I can't really remember. Am surprised we are hearing something different this morning anyways I trust my nnewi bros and his team of wise men from the East. Victoria acerta

COMPAQ:
Cement at N800 when naira was 150 to a dollar and at N1, 100 now that dollar is 330 is not the same. In my view, without Danone cement would be costing much more now. His massive capacity is keeping the price down. What I'd love Dangote to get involved in now is power, because the guy doesn't do anything on a small scale.

The other Nigerian businessmen are lazy. The prefer easy import business. And it's a factor with all Nigerian. All we do is buy from US, UK, China, Turkey, Dubai and come and sell. Nobody makes anything in Nigeria. Dangote is enjoying the superior reward for his greater risk.
The reverse should be the case bro, after selling most of the state owned cement factory to dangote and with the market share he controls, cement in Nigeria should be way way cheaper. Its just like saying cost of dstv subscription in SA and Nigeria or call rates in SA and Nigeria. SA is far cheaper. And for ur information dangote is not the only entrepreneur producing in Nigeria, over there in SW and SE there are alot of them but probably don't enjoy same favour as dangote does with FG. Í think the humble fellow is damn lucky tho every investment banker is lucky so long as he makes more money for his cronies and keep their money safe
BusinessRe: FEC Approves Tax Incentives For Dangote by freshdude99(m): 9:37pm On May 18, 2016
Aseneshii:
You will prefer him not building a refinery and we keep importing right ? If not for Dangote how much do you think a bag of cement wou'd have cost now ? Forget sentiment dangote is a blessing to Nigeria. How many roads did Nigerian brewery and coca cola build with their haulage trucks all over Nigeria roads.
You have a very very low knowledge of history bro, how much was cement before?
And was it not dangote and objs conspiracy that led to ban on ibeto who was then a major competitor and even a cheaper substitute. That ban gave dangote almost 98% of the market. The next we saw was price moved to #800, #1000, #1500 and so on

My dear ur analysis so on point! For years this man evaded tax and just because he couldn't achieve that with pmb on board, he decided to do this.
I ask this, what about his csr obligations to the host community? After getting almost everything free in this useless country and couldn't fix ordinary 43km of road.
This country is seriously doomed and that's one more reason I question the need for the so called billionaires we keep blindly celebrating in this country. See the other one that called himself otedola and aluko just reaping the foolish country of its wealth without anything to show for it. How much did they sell African petrol to otedola? Peanut and he quickly renamed it forte oil, why couldn't he take cue from adenuga, at least he stands out among them, he built glo from scratch, conoil and equatorial trust bank. Such entrepreneurs I respect not thieves like otedola, dangote and co hell bent on suckling this economy dry
