No doubt Uchie (African Rockstar) is talented but it's P.Y.P.E for me anyday extremely funny dude n down to earth (also accepts he's hughley lol) P.Y.P.E has more impact than Uchie and even a more brighter future too. We see almost everyday. His album is almost ready too. NL ya'll expect greatness! Cheers!
Music/Radio › Re: Get The Latest Info On Olusesi Omosetan Here by frijos(op): 3:16pm On Jul 17, 2009
It's no news that the Nigerian music industry is fast growing and it's become so lucrative that many are jumping from other careers/fields into music (even when they lack the true talent).

With great pleasure and delight I wish to introduce the Artiste who goes by the name Olusesi Omosetan. He use to go by the name F.J but later changed it. His style/genre of music is Afro R&B-a genre of music he formed. Afro R&B can be described as rythm and blues with the infusion of the Nigerian languages Idoma, Yoruba and pidgin etc and/or other African dialects.

On first hearing the name "Olusesi Omosetan" I concluded this must be a fuji artiste like the likes of Alhaji Alabi Pasuma Wonder, Saheed Osupa, K1 the ultimate etc. not until I listened to his music.

It will interest anyone reading this to know that Olusesi Omosetan if from Benue state, Nigeria. Now doesn't that make you wonder why or how come about the yoruba name? According to him, he got the name in Obalende, Lagos Nigeria where he grew up. He was popularly called Olusesi Omosetan in Obalende. How he came about such a name he recounts it was during a snooker game gamble. To summarize it, someone taking outside bet had won so much money that out of excitement started calling him Olusesi. From there and the days that followed his friends started calling him Olusesi and then Omosetan followed. That's how they started calling him Olusesi Omosetan. Til date many don't know his real names are Friday Joseph Okoh.

Apart from the fact that the name Olusesi Omosetan is such a catchy name for an artiste in Nigeria to win the hearts of the masses ( a very large number of people), he truly have the talent for music and he's truly gifted to sing. He has a very unique voice and character. To be successful as an artiste in Nigeria one needs to have such charisma, qualities and catchy phrases that the people will always remember them for. Some streets in Lagos are already buzzing with the phrases "Olusesi Omosetan Oba idan Africa's number one from Obalende down to Odunsi Bariga" and "I go by the name of Olusesi but I love the way the girls call me Oluseesi".

Olusesi also realizes the potential of this name and believes so much in it that he went and registered it. So, the name "Olusesi Omosetan" solely belongs to him. He has worked hard and diligently to build a brand name for himself. Olusesi Omosetan is a brand name. It's another name for excellence, achievement, standard and durability.

While under the name F.J he recorded hits like "You want me", lose control, til the nite is over just to mention a few but they did not appeal to the Nigerian market and therefore did not yield the result he desperately needed. Being the type that doesn't quit, he went back to the drawing board and mapped out a strategy and plan that is paying off and getting positive response today. With this new name he has recorded (3) singles which are instant classics namely "EMI NA TI HAMMER", "JANGOLOVA" and "COS I LUV U".

Olusesi Omosetan have performed in places/venues like Amina Hall Unilag, University of Lagos, Volar nite club, Bacchus nite club, Insomnia, Oniru beach, lagos, The vault just to mention a few. The audience have been very responsive. This and many positive comments makes him believe that he's on the right path and success is sure.

Music/Radio › Re: Who's Better To U B/w Modenine And M.i.? Lets Talk: by frijos(m): 4:57pm On Jul 14, 2009
For me Mode 9 is better than M.I on the lyrics/delivery but M.I got an edge over m9 with swag and charisma. To say the fact that's the only thing i'm feeling M.I on (swag). I don't see myself copping the album "talk about it" but I def see me coppin' Paradigm shift anyday. i've heard a couple of songs on air they sound to me like child's play thing. what do u expect from a mode 9 album? suspense, intrigue, word play, punch lines, metaphors! i mean lyrics like i'm so underground the devil's like yo who down there or even though u own an arcade u ain't got game!
truth be told M9 is the best there ever will be out of naija! these are my thoughts so don't take it personal yo!

Mr Kells have a history of being or tryna be manipulative with other artistes he's doing biz with so i'll say Ne-Yo ain't the one to blame. See Kels thinks he can control everyone and be the one to decide who gets what. He did it with Joe, had issues with Hov now it's Ne-yo.

tboy1:
Still cant believe the song was written in 12mins . . . now thats talent
All normal songs that's gon' be a hit don't take too long to scribble down. Especially when u right from personal experience it just keeps flowing out. Once u get a tune and an idea of what u want to write about and u ain't got no distractors around u can write a perfect hit song in 12 mins or less. wink

rapjunkie:
and what does 'naija all stars'? actually mean?

MOST of the people on the track don't even have albums.

So if I record a track and post it on the internet, I am now a 'naija all star?'

Suspect should have been a bit more disciplined in his approach and not turned it into a rap kareoke contest

why did Suspect not call Nairalanders to drop a few verses too since it was an open mic session?
