The idea that bar beach coastline was facing aggressive coastal erosion for a long time, is an indictment on the part of previous FG and state governments.

I can point to a country where we could have gotten experts to fix it, if that was of any concern to the previous government or even to this present government.

The coastal erosion faced by bar beach was actually caused by sandfilling the Lekki wet lands for development.

Those wetlands were never meant to be developed as they acted as shifting barrier shoals of sand that took on the mighty ocean surge.

When the Lekki wet lands got sandfilled that was what led to the ocean currents moving towards the bar beach .

Now that bar beach has been reclaimed via Eko Atlantic, the ocean is now moving back to Lekki and causing the same similar erosion it caused to bar beach.

There was no proper EIA done on Lekki sandfilling.
