The point I am making is that the Stg-44 and it's adaptive recoil mechanism that sustained rapid fire alongside it's long barrel made it the first ideal field weapon which militaries have adopted .

Note that American and allied forces were equipped primarily with bolt rifles and the only rapid weapons was the Tommy gun with it's highly limited accuracy and range which didn't make it ideal as a field weapon.
