In a joint statement released on Monday, the leaders said any attempt to undermine, manipulate, or attack the candidacy of Mr. Peter Obi will be seen as a direct attack on the Igbo quest for the presidency.

The statement noted that Peter Obi represents the aspirations of millions of Igbos who have been seeking equal participation at the center of Nigerian politics.

"For too long the Igbo people have been marginalized in the presidency of this country. 2027 is our time. Peter Obi embodies that hope and that mandate," the statement read.

The groups specifically warned INEC to remain neutral and conduct free, fair, and transparent elections without bias. They also called on the Tinubu administration and the APC to desist from what they described as "political attacks, media smear campaigns, and institutional sabotage" targeted at Peter Obi and his supporters.

"We are watching closely. Any attempt to rig, intimidate voters, or use state institutions to frustrate the Igbo presidency project in 2027 will be resisted with every democratic and lawful means available to us," the leaders said.

They urged their supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and to mobilize massively with their PVCs to ensure their votes count in 2027.

Political analysts say the statement reflects growing tension and mobilization ahead of 2027, as discussions around power rotation and regional representation continue to dominate national discourse.

As of press time, INEC, the Presidency, and the APC had not issued an official response to the warning.
