Hello guys, it has been a while. dduchess90

Before leaving for UK, i had limited knowledge about Southampton and University of Southampton in terms of part time jobs and sorting accommodation.

While searching the web over here I couldn’t find any meaningful information. As a result, I am here to give back to this thread the valuable knowledge (application and visa) i gained, by filling the above gap.

For accommodation try this group on facebook (https://m./478753157139229/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF) you can remove the brackets

For part time jobs you try Tesco warehouse.

Remember pay all your tuition before coming here.

May it be easy for us all.

thanks i will try this.
Please hight the part and let them know that they should pay their fees 100% first... I mean first.
then choose courses that aren't writing exams

So if you are in Nigeria and you relocate to a State like Lagos without money won't it be hell for you the first few months? Life is hell without money! Don't limit it to the UK.

i get a job online that pays 800 to 1k pounds thats what i am surviving on... mind you this is a business model i developed in Nigeria that took years of experience.

now am referring to school fees aspect. if i get job now then i will channel that into school fees.

i repeat if you don't have any backup plan or school fees and house rent u can access while u are hear.. please think twice.

I am in my room in Manchester saying this.. thinking of what next to do as quickly as possible to pay second installment

I still maintain that many pay upfront.
I already added that schools accept installments in fact they don't expect you to pay all your school fees at once You will come with one payment for school at least.

The real struggle for majority is living expenses and raising cash for the next installment.
OP arrived on student visa and didn't pay ANYTHING for school at all. He's only been here 1month plus na and he says school is on his neck. E no pay nothing for school be dat na

Would a student even do that in Nigeria ? Enter school no pay notin yet

how can school process your admission, give you admission and enrollment was done without u paying?

i know u are looking for slightest opportunity to apportioned blame.

i paid 40% of fees here in Nigeria before leaving. that way they issue you CAS.
now they are demanding for another 40% before December or on December.

those who came in last year like in my school paid just 10% but as the rush increase they made it 40%. other schools increase theirs to even 70%. just because of the rush.

no whiteman university will enroll you, give u visa without u paying between 5million to 10 million naira as first installment school fees. some will demand you pay another 30% on enrollment and pay the rest before March.

those who came last year were lucky to see job and start paying but now no job at the moment. that's why am raising the alarm for others to disembark

Maybe you should try getting an SIA badge and start working as a security guard at shopping malls, construction sites and all.

All you need is to register with a training institute, write the exams, get your licence

You won't be out of jobs, especially now that we are approaching December, there will be lots of events in major cities 😀.
that cost over 600 pounds to get this done, i have made enquiry . you write the exam in a week or two,if you passed, you apply for licensed n wait for three to 4 weeks. thats till December we are talking about.. before u now start job hunting again not that the job is waiting.
after spending 600 previously. omoh i have like 8m to pay from now till December .

when i was going out my job hunting i saw a guy.. black and i monitored him n new he was a Nigerian so i kindly approach him and he told me about it.

Hello everyone. I’m new here. Pls how much is advisable to use as POF for student visa? Based on my calculation it’s 16m but I’m considering making it 17m just incase of change in exchange rates. Is it fair enough or I should make it 19m just to be on the safe side.

do you have this money in ur account? can you access it plus ur maintenance money?
anything short of that my sister you are not on 50/50 rather 20/80.

i wish someone told me earlier i just followed the bandwagon to this deadly situation that has drained me.

Chai

Do the authorities know people sleep dere overnight?

Is it allowed ?

Omo, people dey go thru things o, I fit send my guy the least month end...that guy went to UK via study route hoping he would be able to pay back the people he borrowed money from in Nigeria and the same time be sending small money for his people

At the same time try and pay up his fees...with all these your story... Omo , I'm beginning to feel for him...he's not even as buoyant as you are

He's in Manchester

they dont allow so he wait till 12 midnight when there is least monitoring.

i know someone who came in last year September, said he still owes people in Nigeria he borrowed.

see i have seen first hand experience and from people here. and i said why are our people making it look as if its bread and butter here?

Although they said last year there were jobs but the trooping in of people everywhere.. the uk authority want to increase revenue i guess.
all this supercede the job they have now.

i wont encourage anyone to take this route instead look at Australia, Germany Canada... from what i heard in Nigeria those places are cool...

but again i will say skills route is the best. stay in Nigeria and apply if you get the special skills... carpenter, wood work, plumbing, nursing, doctors, IT skills etc.

no be even about intelligent my guy. Dung for brains like that Atk1nson dude irk me. Absolutely empty with nothing to offer.

In one thread, they are the ones that will say even if you need to sell your testicle to japa, it is worth it, and yet in another they are quick to put down those who heed their advise and run into some trouble down the road. If not dung for brains, how can a normal person tell another determinately that UK isn't a fit for him and he should forget about the 15m he has spent and go back to Nigeria. Who dash the monkey man banana and made him PM? 🤣🤣🤣

As for OP, i have said this in another thread, you can't dip both feet in the river and now complain of cold. You should do all you can do to stay afloat, I don't think it makes any kind of sense to turn back now. Perish that thought. Keep pushing, keep searching, keep networking offline and online. Something will def pop up, eventually.

thanks sir. i will keep pushing.
i am currently on system sending application and also called in few agencies although they said i should not come in person they only accept application through their site when anything comes they will let me know
which am doing now

you don't get the point.

If an employer employs someone in Nigeria, pays for their visa and accommodation, and waits some months to have them come and you are equally qualified and already in the UK with no work restriction, something is wrong with the way the person is doing his/her job search.

it seems you don't understand that Student are restricted to work for 20 hours per week.
more also our skills set might be different.

she might be in health and applied from Nigeria. thats what i advise anyone to do instead of student route.

hope u understand my point. now i am looking at doing more IT, interns then come through skills.

You don't need UK experience for a warehouse operative or cleaning job. All you need is your right to work share code, your BRP, National Insurance number and you are good to go. You should have all these documents as a legal resident. You may require three months UK experience or more for Care jobs or white collar jobs.

Listen to advice and you will be fine

omo i don focus on cleaner and kitchen right now.... sure they are like asking for experience. but not all.
but i haven't been callee yet for interview. its been two weeks now i have been applying for that one.

more also let me keep applying from now till November end and see what comes up.

if you have anyone in uk who can referer someone in care.. so i will just have an experience in it... cos one agency was asking for training experience and 3 month stay in uk although i was referred by someone to the agency.

Old boy, go and look for construction labourer jobs. Those jobs are very easy to find. Try link up with naija boys who have been in the system for a long time to show you cash and carry jobs, or let you know agencies owned by Nigerian employers that can link you to casual labor jobs. Go naija churches and link up with the pastor and guys there. They will give u good information.Getting a job in UK or any other country as a new comer is mainly thru networking and getting information and contact from the right people. Good luck

common security job here demand certification, i think thr certifications cost almost 800 thousand naira here. i am trying to get certification here and there and it requires money

Then why move since you were already making money from Nigeria online?

Why are you not doing the same now that you're in the UK?

If security and a better living atmosphere was your reason for leaving, what happened to other African countries or some Asian/European countries you do not need to spend all your savings to move to?

not enough was thinking of travelling then getting into tech here.
but most of them are full time and am on student visa.

Look for houses owned by the Asians (Pakis and Indians) they are more "migrant friendly", they are more open to couples with less stress and would even allow you to share a single room with a spouse when you pay about extra 50 pounds as I had friends who came alone, rented single rooms and when their spouse was to join them, they negotiated with the landlord and paid extra, from there they both hustled their way out and moved to flats.

okay thanks.

house has been sorted. i got a Nigerian who helped he is the landlord.

I initially assumed, you just needed someone to guide you, but I realise you already have a mind that is madeup.

Personally, I dont think you have the right mind to succeed in the uk bro. I'll advise you to try elsewhere.

Even a few weeks ago, I know of a friend's sister who came on a skilled worker visa to work in a hospital, with visa and accommodation paid for by employer.

How will someone already in the uk and with the right qualification then claim no job?

This is my last comment on your thread, not worth my time

thats skilled visa tier 2... am referring to student visa tier 4

I am also in the market looking for a next step in my career. While I agree the market is not a buoyant as it was 1-2 years ago, it is still very rich in good opportunities.

Also, this is not Nigeria. There are many jobs here, so even if you apply for 20 a day and you are not called, don't get fixated on it and keep applying (albeit each time you fail, ask yourself: what could I have done better to have been the successful applicant ?. Rather than complaining that you apply to 1 million jobs.

Lastly, networking is often about meeting people ahead of where you are. You are referencing what people who came in recently as you are saying. Network more with people who came 1-3 years ago and are doing well, to give you tips.

The probably is many new migrants came on a shoe string budget, often resulting to them asking for financial help which is why others who came earlier tend to avoid them.

everyone on his own here. i have been disturbing not necessarily for money just job links.

if possible which city are you. let me see if you can refer me i don't mind working there few days and coming to school two times.

There are simple jobs you can do online and they only need you to be in the country. I've just given you options, go for them. If your status in the country is a problem, get someone to apply and get the job for you while you do the actual work.

i have been applying for data analyst job, data entry .please which other one can u list.

Please how did you get the job which city let me see if i can temporary relocate if i have some offer?
if possible share your cv format.

Please don’t insult. i only share my pains. and warning to those who dont have complete fees.

More also, I have not seen any that got job in a month here.. In my department there are lots of Nigerians I saw... Non. I repeat non has gotten a job. In the church where I worship same complain... Am not complaining because of the situation on my side rather what others are passing through.

The guy is a comedian.

Complaining it cost him 35million to travel. Whose fault, is Rishi Sunak responsible for the exchange rate?

Landlord's are requesting for 6 months upfront or guarantor..and a guy that has no job is complaining. If he was in their shoes would he give it to someone in his situation without added safety to guaranteed their income.
Someone guaranteed for me when I came in, I also guarantee for a number of people who came in when I settled in. Rather than look for someone to guarantee for him, he came to make noise online

i said 13 million then extra 3k dollars at hand and i said if u dont have money to cover your school fees, house rent, upkeep.... this should average 20 to 25 thousand pounds then convert it to naira.... if you dont have this please dont try embarking on student visa..
try skills rout and my area of warning is UK.

Research about apps that give credit loans, get a quick loan & pay. Then work gradually to pay back. Start asking around.

grin

have you hear of credit score.
you have to build it over time then be able to get credit card. although most schools dont accept credit card but alternative is to get someone whose school accept and transfer and get the money back from him

but that is when u have settled in and gotten ur score up
